The hotel's breakfast was good. We stayed for 2 nights, our room was cleaned every day, and having a shuttle to the beach was great; they take you there at certain times and bring you back to the hotel. It would be even better if they had a shuttle available in the evenings. The hotel is far from the center, and the path isn't suitable for walking. The pool was also enjoyable and nice. Thank you.

So amazing that we extended our stay. The room was very very spacious, the staff was very helpful with any questions we had and helped us arrange transport. The pool and food/bar were amazing and so was the massage. The staff also helped me set up the room to surprise my fiance on his birthday and it was amazing.

This hotel was promoted as having parking available, be careful especially during high season as there are probably not more than 12 parking spots and the hotel is located in a very small Soi (street) where there is no on road parking. Access to Kata beach is very limited as the hotel shuttle only runs every two hours and does not run after 6:30pm. The beaches are not walking distance.

The King size bed mattress is too soft and I just could not make use of it to sleep. The single bed has a firmer mattress.

For the breadfast, the fruits and salad are alight. But not the bread. My group tried the different types of bread, they were not delicious ; they tasted more like those mass produced by factory, regretted paying for the breadfast.

What a wonderful hotel. I’d give The Yama Hotel 10 Stars if possible. The staff were excellent! Tong, Joshua, Mint at the front desk, the entire staff at the restaurant, and the cleaners who did the rooms were all absolutely wonderful. The staff was super friendly, professional, and helpful.
The breakfast buffet was excellent! Great variety, healthy choices, great coffee, tea, etc…. and the service was amazing.
The pool was lovely. Very clean. Perfect after a day at the beach or walking. Lots of lounge pool An exercise room that is perfect for a quick workout. Dumbbells, treadmills, and equipment that all worked. There’s a spa on the premises if you go for that.
The hotel restaurant offers excellent food for about the same price as you’d pay outside. The food was delicious and the fruit smoothies were excellent.
It’s about a 1 mile walk to Kata Beach or you can take any of their many daily free shuttles down to or back from the beach. Call front desk to reserve your spot. Kata Beach lounge chairs & umbrellas can be rented for 100 TB for 2 people. The beach guys will try to charge you more, but bargain. 50 TB for fresh, chilled coconut on the beach. Lovely beach & great way to spend an afternoon or evening. Watch the sun. It’ll getcha.
The rooms in this hotel were large, immaculately clean, and stocked with goodies you might want to eat. Bottled water is replenished each day. There’s a combo safe in the room. Balconies overlook the beautiful pool.

Scenic property in the hills of Phuket, nice and quiet and very much out of the way of the busy streets, however it's very far out if you plan to go into the main areas such as patong etc. We booked a swim up room which is cool to have direct access to the pool... But the room itself is very very basic. No luxuries at all, we even found a roach in our room on the first and last night of our stay. Bathroom interior is very dark considering the hotel is very bright and airy. The hotel does offer a shuttle service down to the beach which is very handy. The lobby of the hotel is beautiful and the staff are pretty friendly. Gym is pretty decent too and it's 24 hours. A decent stay overall but room amenities could be dramatically improved.

Once I checked out the reception charged me over 800 Baht for 3 cane of Pepsi two bottle of water and 2 nuts literally it costs you not even 100 baht in 7-11I don’t mind paying for it but when I checked in she never explain to me that it is not free why would you guys add snacks and stuff when it is not free making money out of people and it is really far away from everything don’t waste your money …

A really great 4 star option

It’s a really good value option for people who appreciate the trappings of a 4 star hotel and can manage without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the beach. They offered free shuttles to and from the beach every 2 hours, and if we wanted to go outside these times the cost of a Grab (Asian version of Uber) or a regular taxi was 200-300 baht.

The hotel itself is clean, reasonably modern, the pool and bar area very pleasant. They could do with a few more beach loungers, that would be my only criticism.

Reception staff were extremely efficient and helpful especially with organising tours.

Breakfast had something for everyone. There were Thai options (I loved having curries for breakfast!) as well as western foods and an egg station.

There is a convenience store and laundry directly outside the gate, and I recommend the food at the shack next door- delicious!

I would stay here again, no doubt.

Fantastic value for the money. Room is spacious and clean, bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is amazing, with a rain shower head and toilet in a separate room. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The pool area is very nice and the bar area is great, with decent cocktail prices. The food is also really good. They have a great scooter hire available through a nearby vendor with quality bikes at a good price. Area is nice, but you do need a scooter if you don't want to be spending money on Grabs. The shuttle bus to the beach is good, but relatively infrequent. Overall, fantastic value for money

Great hotel located away from hustle of the Kata Beach area. Poolside room was very nice having direct access to the hotel pool. Restaurant and bar was well priced and good quality and all hotel staff were very polite and friendly. Transfer to and from the airport was booked through the hotel and was seamless. they also provide transport to and from Kata Beach. Included buffet breakfast was also very good.Highly recommend the Yama!

This is a very nice hotel with a beautiful pool and lovely rooms. The beds are incredible with sheets so soft you melt into them. Breakfast was great!! Lots of different options both Western to Eastern. Great location in the mountains and a shuttle to the beach that runs often.

No sun in the pool area before noon (January)

I was going to give five stars but they were three hours late to have a room ready and would not let us do a late check out as somebody was coming for the room. We were only asking for an extra hour. I guess the next guests were more important than us.

**Second Time’s the Charm at The Yama Hotel!**

As a single dad traveling with my two young teen sons, finding a comfortable and family-friendly hotel is always a priority, and The Yama Hotel has delivered on both our visits! From the warm welcome at check-in to the excellent service at the restaurant and pool bar, every aspect of our stay was a pleasure.

Our room was spacious and well-appointed, featuring a cozy bathtub and a large rain shower in the bathroom. It came with all the standard amenities, like coffee and tea, two complimentary water bottles daily, and quality toiletries. While the hotel isn’t directly on the beach, the views more than made up for it—we had a stunning combination of ocean and jungle scenery. The AC kept us cool, the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, and though we didn’t watch much TV, the cable channels were a nice touch.

The included breakfast buffet was perfect for us. My sons and I aren’t picky eaters, and we loved the variety, from classic breakfast staples to local dishes, fresh fruits, a salad bar, refreshing juices, and a variety of coffee drinks to start the day right. The friendly and attentive restaurant staff made every meal even more enjoyable. Additionally, the hotel provided a shuttle bus to Kata Beach, which was incredibly convenient and made it easy for us to enjoy the sand and sea.

I would recommend The Yama Hotel to anyone, whether traveling with kids, as a couple, or even solo. We’re already looking forward to our next stay

The Yama Hotel is located not far from hustle bustle tourist area however it is far enough to be quiet and relaxing as it is tucked in the mountain side.

We enjoyed 7 nights and 8 days, staff was extremely nice and helpful, especially Spy, Tong, Khom and Nate, very polite and helpful.

We enjoyed the fully airconditioning, clean room, house kept every day - cleaner cleaned every day very good. Then we enjoyed swimming in their pool every night, relaxing in the spa as well as having cocktails. They have happy hour for cocktails and juices oh boy they were delicious.

Our room had 180 degree mountain view and ocean view- although it faces highway, we loved the room because of the amazing view and we could watch what is happening on the street at the same time.

If I ever go to Thailand we will only be staying at Yama hotel. It really impressed us, thank you to everyone who works at Yama.

Un peu excentré de kata beach et son agitation nocturne. Havre de paix. Chambre spacieuse. Proprete ok. Location scooter a 250 baths par jour indispensable pour autonomie car hotel un peu a l'écart et pas de passage taxi ou tuk tuk devant. Possibilite de commander par l'hôtel mais prix different. Nous n'avons pas testé le service de navette pour kata beach qui se trouve à 5 minutes en scooter.

I liked how spacious the rooms were. The front desk was very friendly. The buffet was not bad either, pretty decent. The pool was a nice feature. the bar was a little pricey. Big down fall was that it was quite the distance from the beach, if you decide to walk it is all uphill. This property can do great if they expand their shuttle bus hours. the first bus is around 845 and last is 430. Kind of sucks. It's a 15 min drive. And taxi is about 400-500baht one way.

Other places we stayed in Thailand had last shuttle till 920 pm. Especially considering the distance from the beach
The soap dispensers in room 406 were rusted and being attached to the wall is not the most convenient.
Otherwise the general service was good, pool was clean

The location of the hotel was off the beaten path in Kata first of all and right outside our window was a trash heap that we looked at every morning. It’s impossible to walk from the hotel to anywhere unless you want to get ran over. I definitely will not be staying here ever again. Then we were told by management when we checked in that there was no thermostat and that the temperature for our room was preset, not sure if this is standard for Phuket but this also was an inconvenience.

I booked this hotel because of the high reviews rating, which to my disappointment didn't match the value I was looking for when I reached.. I was confused why it had such high ratings.
Then when I wanted to ask for a late checkout, they said they'd only give it to me if I go to the reception and give a 5-star review in front of them, which explained why they have such a false high rating.

The staff isn't friendly, the breakfast lacks options for vegetarians and vegans, there's not even water in the lobby, and they would charge you an extra money if you need an ice bucket, which is usually free in other hotels. Also they \"forgot\" to give me back my deposit when I checked out, then I remembered to remind them last minute, they said if I don't ask for it they don't give it back!!

They mention they have a beach shuttle but the timings are bad, only every 2 hours, I ended up taking taxis instead of waiting 2 hours for their shuttle service.

The location is inconvenient, it's a dead area, nothing around.

I was disappointed and highly don't recommend.

The hotel, not resort as listed on Expedia left a lot to be desired. For one, they trade 5 star reviews for free shuttle rides. In the business world, this is called a scam so I would not know why Expedia would continue to subject their users to this type of place considering there are dozens of reviewers in the past making the same statement. It would also be nice if the hotel updated its photos as this place now looks nothing like it used to.

I do not recommend this place for anyone as it is very remote and extremely hard to get to the beach from here. It is on the opposite side of the busiest road in the town and the vehicles never stop to let people go by. On top of that, the 2km walk which would normally not be a problem, is not for the out of shape. We are both in shape and we struggled on the way back.

The staff is rude. I made my comments on the check in and was subsequently harassed by the owner or manager who kept calling my room and then knocking on our door. I suffered food poisoning in the city and told him to leave me alone but they bothered us for 2 days straight. Very unprofessional. I’ll be contacting Expedia next. Avoid like the plague!

Overall very disappointing for a 4 stars hotel, feels more like a 3 stars honestly. Hotel facilities have not much charm like you expect from a Thai hotel.
The biggest turn off was that the cleaners don’t do their job properly (don’t refill the body soap and the shampoo unless we run out and have to ask réception, don’t clean the shower or bath...). The sheets were clean but the pillows had a dusty smell which made me sick at night being allergic to dust.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing with food variety and freshness of veggies/fruits. Food at the restaurant is clearly overpriced compare to town prices so better skip it.
The staff was rather nice even though English was not very good for the majority of them.
The gym is pretty small and is missing more equipment in order to do proper full body training. Again the floor mattress were super dusty and should clearly be changed for guests comfort.
The shuttle for the beach was convenient even though the service stops at 4 Pm so if you want to go to beach or dinner after 4 PM your only option is to take a taxi to town which will be rather expensive for a 5minutes ride. Me and my wife since we love walking tried the way back to hotel by foot but the road is very busy road and not safe at all with cars running full speed and no path for pedestrian; highly don’t recommend to do that, it was a stressing experience.
I have stayed at 3 hotels in Phuket so far and this was clearly the worst in our experience so far.

I like the place that is not too rowdy, peaceful. Traffic wise not that convenient for going out.
Better check properly before checking out. My experience that we have not taken any single towel from the hotel, when the cleaner check our rooms before checking out, they claims that we have taken/lost their small towels.
I was totally not please as they force us to make payment on the towel. Also, I ask details on the payment, the staff doesn't know her work well, she can't explain the details to me.
Thus I would grade this hotel stay as 3 so-so. Not that impressive.

I have been double booked and I have been charged 415 U.S dollars which they need to refund me. but unfortunately after talking to expidia they said I won't get full refund. also it takes 45 days to get my rest of money back. This is wrong. It was thier mistake and they should be responsible.

The staff were very friendly and accomodating special thanks to MAI AND JAMMIE, reception staff .
The location is ok, but a little too much effort to walk to local 7/11 or restaurants, you can walk to the beach but its a hike.
We had a couple of families staying and they were a bit loud with their inflatables in the pool;as were a group of millenniums jumping off the pool access ladders. A security presence might have helped, also designated smoking areas should be enforced.
If we had just stuck to our original 3 days therr instead of returning later for 7 days ,we would have been very happy. The breakfeast gets very boring after a few days.

Please do not be fooled by the ratings about this property, especially on Trip Advisor. Firstly, those who are looking to stay at a resort, know this is not a resort (despite its name). It's a 3-star hotel. Secondly, they provide incentives/perks such as free transfer or discounts to guests upon check in if guests give them a 5 star review and that's not ok for people like me who rely heavily on reviews when booking properties. My first room had a lizard and I requested for a room change. My 2nd room came without a lizard but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Toilet seats were grimy, towels had stains, the shower sprouted water outside the shower room leaving a puddle in the walkway and the amenities were incomplete. The breakfast was decent though and they have a good variety of options. However, for dinner, the restaurant's menu did not have som tum (traditional papaya salad)!? It looks like it was recently renovated, but the finishing of the hotel is poor, and tacky at best. Also note, it is not close to the beach if you plan on walking. It's a 40mins walk or 15mins drive to Kata beach, which is the closest. There's nothing in the vicinity so we had to take cabs everywhere to get around, which personally for me the cost would have been better allocated to a beach front hotel.

Hotel provided incentives (free drink/ free taxi/late check-out) in return for a five -star review. I told them that the service I experienced wasn't five stars, at was four stars at most. For the late check-out, I was quoted a price of THB1000. It was a \"pay\" or give us five stars situation. There was no attempt to understand my concerns or remedy it. Rooms are big and the sea view is nice. Otherwise, there's nothing else going for it.

We booked 5 mountain view rooms.Not happy with Housekeeping. Hotel is far from Beach and small swimming pool. Don’t rent a bike through Hotel. We had bad experience. Check everything before book this hotel.

Very helpful staff , everyone was super helpful polite and went out of their way to ensure our needs were met. About a 15 minute walk to the beach but the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from throughout the daytime which made up for it. Very clean and high end rooms in my opinion.

First of all would like to say that Hotel name The Yama Resort & Spa, Kata Beach, Phuket is not correct.

Correct name of Hotel is The Yama Hotel. it took us long to find Yama Resort & Spa and finally we found there is only one hotel name is Yama.

its need to be corrected immediately.

Hotel and room is fine, Entrance from main road to Hotel is not properly marked

We really enjoyed our stay at The Yama. The staff were all so friendly and they made a special fuss of our two children. We are vegetarians and the staff happily altered meals for us from the menu. The rooms were really spacious and clean and my children loved the pool! Thank you :)

The property is nice. The pool is alot smaller than in the pictures. The hotel is on a hidden road near mountains its about a 20,25 min ride into patong.

We had a power outage on the first night there. It was a result of heavy rain but we had troubles sleeping and ruined our vacation - sort of.

I wouldn't blame this on the hotel but I guess they could have managed it better.

Spacious room with abit of ocean view high up on the mountain. Nice pool. Very friendly staffs.
Abit too far from the beach if you don’t have a car. Tho they have shuttle to the beach
