Enjoyed our stay. We had a room with swim up access which was fun. Pool area generally was good, big enough for the numbers of people without being crowded & deep enough for a decent swim.
Breakfast buffet was great, wide variety of choices & good coffee.

Hotel is a bit tired in places & while not dirty by any means it wasn’t cleaned as well as others we stayed in on this trip.

This was a good base for our visit to Kata, the immediate area was quiet yet it was only a 10 min walk to all the beach side restaurants & bars.

If you want a hotel that is very clean, very friendly, has excellent staff, gives excellent service, a breakfast that suits all and a free hourly transfer to and from Kata beach (5 to 10 minutes level walk away), this is the hotel for you. It is also one of the hotels that organised trips pick you up from for free. (Our current hotel tours charge 2000tbh to pick you up.)
Truthfully, the rooms and reception are a little tired, but within a very short time we saw past that, because everything else was so good.
We've stayed in three hotels this trip, one was a 5*, the Alpina was the best of them all.

Expected more given the cost

Stayed for 6 nights over xmas 2019. Were given a 'free upgrade' upon arrival but were left feeling very underwhelmed at the condition of the room. Whilst clean, it was extremley outdated, tired and did not reflect the photos from Hotels.com or the price we had paid. In fairness to the hotel, they were very quick to apologise and resolve this, providing us with a suite which felt more in line with our booking costs.

The restaurants at the hotel were uninspiring and despite the busy time of year were very quiet, as such didnt each in any of them. Breakfast was included with our stay and was satisfactory.

Pool area was great for families, however, there were a few points such as loose tiles or broken slats which had the potential to cause accidents and should be rectified for future guests.

After walking around the Kata bay, this hotel does appear to be one of the best on offer, particularly for families. The shuttle bus is both helpful and at hourly intervals throughout the day down to the beach front, however, this is a walkable distance for those wishing to.

All in all, happy with our stay but may opt to look for a different bay in Phuket if we are to return.

the room was not properly cleaned each day condition of bathroom not acceptable. sometimes received clean cups other one clean one dirty, bathroom was not cleaned. beds not properly madeup. floor not always swept. sometime got two new bottles of water but not consistently. sometimes got pool towels new sometimes not. hotel did not appear to be upkept like black on walls umbrellas some broken around pool.

Good location, but outdated, bad wifi, and noises

The second hotel on our honeymoon trip was to the Alpina Phuket near Kata Beach. It was in a good location (10 min from Kata Beach), and easy to move around using tuk tuks and taxis.

However, the actual room was outdated, and looked dark due to the dark furniture, drapes, and dustiness. Also, the wifi was spotty throughout the room. However, the A/C was strong.

I would probably not stay again, since we were looking for a place to relax and rest from the day's activities. One great aspect: the breakfast food was really good! And the staff, both at the front desk, as well as at breakfast, were really nice, helpful, and always smiling.

Good location as close to nearby restaurants and night markets etc. the reception staff definitely need some lessons in customer service. They should ask the room service/cleaning staff to teach them as those guys were fantastic. Room was very nice but we booked pool access but had it at the other end of the hotel so the WiFi was awful. Had to sit in the lobby to get any signal. Overall, was ok. Probably wouldn’t book again. Also, the pool access was a bit of a let down as they obviously don’t clean that part as well. There was constantly debri on top of the water and looked a bit off putting.

Nice Hotel but needs updating/TLC

My partner and I stayed at the resort for 6 nights. The staff were very friendly and the service was also very good with no issues. I would say the hotel is nice however, my partner and I both agreed it needs a little bit of TLC and updating. Our room had damp on the walls which you could smell as soon as you entered and the furniture was very warn. There was also a huge chunk of wall missing form the pillar next to our balcony (we stayed in one of the swim up rooms).

We went at the end of Sep/beginning of Oct which meant the hotel and surrounding area was very quiet, but this did mean we had plenty of room when swimming and relaxing.

Overall we were very happy with our stay but would probably try and different location next time.

Don’t expect a 4* property, it’s nice but not the standard I was expecting after travelling for 3 months in various countries.
The WiFi didn’t work at all during my stay.
The room is old and needs work doing to it, the bathroom looked filthy but it was just limescale

Impeccable Service

The service was amazing, including the recovery service. The hotel made a mistake and we had no rooms for the first night. They apologised and arranged for us to stay at their (newer but more inaccessible) sister hotel. Two reception staff accompanied us through the checkin process all the way to our new room to make sure that we are well settled in. They also offered us one free dinner at their restaurant, one free transfer, and two in-house meals at 20% off as an apology.

The only qualms I have is that the 4.5* rating does not match the conditions of facilities/rooms on the ground (e.g. parts of the wallpaper were coming out, weak airc onditioning, weak wifi in the rooms). The hotel would be better (we had a comparison with sister hotel on night one) if there have been an upgrade. Similar to others' reviews on the conditions of the hotel, I hope the investors/management would do some upgrading so that their 5* service staff could deserve the 5* hotel that they are an ambassador of.

What a beautiful resort! The rooms was amazing. I love how the room was set up. The view from our room was absolutely gorgeous! I enjoyed being on the balcony. Their breakfast was amazing! They served so much food and they were all good food! I went to the spa on the resort and again... amazing. We were very close to the Kata Beach but far away from the city so transportation to the city was expensive but we were here to relax and enjoy the beach.

What i didnt like is the wifi... it barely worked for me. It kept going on and off. All the past hotel/hostel ive been i had no problem with the wifi but at this beautiful resort, the wifi wasnt the greatest.

I would come back to this resort and recommend this place to my friends/family but i would warned them about the wifi.

Second time here. Booked the room with a jacuzzi that comes with a free mini bar refil each day but they tried to charge us for drinks even tho they were free. Also tried to charge us 40 baht for ice. Ridiculous.
It’s a great place and id go back but some of the staff can be rude and try squeeze every dollar out of you.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The room was spacious and the balcony was large. The bathroom had a big walk in shower and double sinks, which was also nice. We enjoyed the pool and the breakfast, but didn’t love the restaurant food. The beach is an easy 10 minute walk, but there is also a shuttle that runs every hour. We got everything we were expecting with this hotel for the price we paid. We would stay here again.

Breakfast buffet I found disappointing for what you pay. Did like Happy Hour at the poolside. Discounted drinks and bartenders were very entertaining.

This place has a nice location and the staff is great! Resort is within a 15 minute walk of Kata beach. My biggest issue, however, was with the airport shuttle that we pre-booked through the hotel (for a total of 2000 baht). On the drive from the airport to the hotel, the driver stopped THREE different times. One stop was to run a personal errand, one was to get gas, and one of the stops was at a tourism office where we were being pressured into buying tours/outings. The airport shuttle made me unhappy with my experience before even getting to the hotel. If i pay a lot of money for a shuttle, I expect them to just drive straight to the hotel.

We asked for a double bed and what we got was 2 single beds next to each other. Try to explain that to the staff that has the same understanding of English as I have for the Thai language.

Nice laid back hotel with a great hill view

We stayed at Alpina for over a week and nothing was much of a trouble. Cleaning standards were excellent and we were never disturbed by housekeeping team. Shower was massive based on my personal experience and the rooms overall are bigger than the ones offered by other hotels. Staff in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner are very friendly. If you are looking for high standard place it is not there, however if you are happy to compromise on little details then you would definitely enjoy it!

Alpina Phuket - More Ups than Downs

The hotel is designed and maintained to a high standard. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool area is very relaxinging. Some staff were very helpful and others not helpful at all. The standard of English was not good and this may explain the lack of helpfulness at times.
The surrounding area is not well developed. It has narrow footpaths with manhole covers missing and the smell of sewage is never far away. The shortest route to a very picturesque beach is along a canal which is an open stinking cess pit - go the long way or take a taxi.
There are a few really nice places to eat nearby which are reasonably priced.

Good location and was given an upgrade with our own pool entrance on our balcony. However, the room was outdated and needed some maintenance and up keep. The floors made noises. We had some light bulbs out. There were many stains throughout the room. Don’t book a taxi from the hotel to the airport, go down the street and book one from the tour companies. The hotel quoted 1200 baht and when asked if there were shuttle service they said no, however the tour company had shuttle options from 250 - 300 baht per person (keep in mind they suggest 2.5 hours journey) or private taxi for 800 baht.

Breakfast buffet could be better, but it’s not the worst I’ve had. They would be wise to consider more vegetarian options, however. Don’t expect to have reliable WiFi at any time and anywhere (room, lobby, etc) as their’s is dodgy at best, but everything else was quite enjoyable. I’d come back.

Booked a pool access room but got upgraded to a Suites. Room is well maintained, breakfast is great, room service is fast and attentive, pool is big n clean. The shuttle to the beach is fantastic since the hotel is not a seafront. Downside is, I was turnaway at the hotel spa as they don't accept walk-ins. Other than that it's wonderful to stay at Alpina Nalina Resort & Spa

The Hotel was great. I can't say as much about the location. Phuket has a few decent beaches but they are seriously over crowded. The island is overcrowded and very dirty. You smell sewer waling down the street. You have to walk down the street, there is no sidewalk. When you walk down the street be careful not to get run over by one of the millions of scooters flying past you in both directions. Stay on the mainland, get a cab to Phuket. There are no traffic laws, you will see 2yr old kids on the handlebars of a scooter with five people on it.

They provided free new year eve dinner at the hotel which included amazing seafood bbq & performances. It was a perfect new year count down for me & my friends. Awful Stay in a Dirty, Old Hotel with a Rude Staff

Awful stay, dirty hotel, very very old. It's also a ten minute car ride to the beach. The hotel looks like they haven't put a dollar into this hotel in 30 years. We had mosquitoes in our room, dust everywhere, and the mirror in the bathroom was beyond filthy. We complained to the front desk manager several times, but they offered no help.

Generally clean. Staff was attentive but the general condition of the hotel was not up to par. We had five broken bulbs in our room alone and our friends had a few broken bulbs in theirs. And don’t get me started on the mosquitoes in this hotel. We had asked the staff to fumigate our rooms multiple times but we still got bite late at night. I woke up with 12 mosquito bites all over my body. Overall 3/5. Be mindful the area is on a quiet street and a little far from the beach.

Awesome location!

This hotel is one of the best bang for your buck! Everything you need is within walking distance! Minutes! The hotel has a nice big pool, restaurants, and a SPA. Rooms aren’t too shabby, and got Western toilets and Rainfall showers - but who really spends their time in the room? Wifi is okay - brick walls weaken signal, but majority of Phuket have wifi. LTE is also available in area with your stateside phone carrier. Kata Market is 2 blocks (10min walk) north, the beach is a little further but a great location and not too crowded. $10 massages everywhere two buildings down; a doctor is on the street; good dude. Pharmacy, 7-11 and family mart on the street. Lots of restarants and tattoo parlors. You can book tourist stuff in the hotel. Most drivers know the hotel if you’re stuck somewhere; just say ALPINA - KATA BEACH ; they know! Miss it - stayed 9-10 days and it was a blast! Must book Phi Phi Island hopping and cross fingers you get Bobby as a guide! You can boon any of the fun stuff like Elephant trekking and Tiger Kingdom - they pick and drop you off at the hotel.

Was a wonderful holiday in Phuket, and the hotel was the start of it. Beautiful staff that are really friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated in a very good area, close to Kata beach and not far from Karon beach. Short taxi/tuk tuk to Patong or Phuket City. There are buses that run throughout these areas that are easy to navigate also.

Not a 4.5 star hotel !!

stayed in private Villa which overall was nice size, great to have own pool but villa it’s self not clean to 4.5 star more like 2, and facilities very run down and old. Absolutely no atmosphere, not even around main pool. Bar stuff don’t even talk or make feel welcome. We spent most time just relaxing in own company in Villa. Staff at hotel do not speak English very difficult to communicate. The breakfast I don’t recommend to get included in your package as most time I ate toast as no variety not even bacon. Over all this hotel should be rated 2 star not even close to 4.5. We have stayed in Patong so many times and even the 3 star hotels we have stayed in the past should be 5 plus compared to here.

Great resort, and good location.

We spent over a week at Alpina and found it to be perfect for us as a couple. We went exploring most days- but had days when we spent the entire day at the pool or in the room. We had a pool access room - which makes days like these much easier, I'd recommend the pool access room for sure. For us the pool area was definitely the best thing about Alpina. We tried room service and was also impressed with the quality. The breakfast buffet was excellent , upon reflection and getting on the scales... maybe to good. Some down sides- the rooms are getting a little tired and the air condition in them , whilst working well, is too loud to leave on over night to sleep with. These would not stop me from staying here again however.

PROS:

* Value. We paid 32 USD/night during the low season (before taxes, not including breakfast).
* The pool is amazing and flows right up to most of the rooms on the first floor. One of the best hotel pools I've ever seen.
* Close enough to the beach to walk, but far enough away to avoid the noise and crowds.
* Parking. We were able to park our car out front with no problems.
* Service. Everyone met us with a smile.

CONS:

* The fitness center seems put together almost as an after thought.
* Cleanliness. We found cigarette butts on the balcony when we checked in. The hot water kettle also smelled filthy and was unusable.
* Not much of a desk in the classic room, so don't expect to use it as an office.
* Sprawling. Some of the rooms are a long walk to the main lobby, but they are preferable in a way as they have better balcony views.

Swim up room with a view

The staff were incredible and if they served you at the restaurant in the evening, would come and ask how you were at breakfast. The grounds were beautiful and the pools were lovely! We had a room with a swim up pool and it was just amazing, you had a view of big buddha from the pool area. Prices for food and drink were very reasonable, however taxi prices were quite high! We had a few problems, our AC didn't work and would gradually get colder the longer it was on, leaving us freezing overnight and our taxi to the airport (arranged via the hotel) was 15 minutes late. However overall we would stay here again due to the lovely huge, clean room, pools, staff attitude and location! It was a perfect stay with only minor problems. We were so sad to leave this amazing hotel.

Uncomfortable beds.

The room was very noisy. As the winds started blowing so was the whistling noise in our room. The bed was very uncomfortable and I don't think they ever changed the pillow cases. They were very smelly alone with the bedding. The mattress was as hard as the floor. We only stayed 1 nite. The buffett was very expensive.

Lovely hotel, ideal for families

We spent 12 days here in September meeting up with our daughter and 2yr old grandson. I cannot fault the hotel it was ideal for us. We booked the swim up rooms, these are perfect, no trailing our stuff to the sun loungers, just swim from our pool and back. We had adjoining rooms giving us more convenience to spend time with our grandson. Staff were lovely, always helpful, even managed to change one of our trips when the little one was ill. Hotel bus runs hourly too and from beach (lovely beach) , walking distance to shops, restaurants etc. Hotel offers safe deposit box and water in room free, also towels for the beach, hairdryer and umbrellas, beds firm but extremely comfortable, air con in room was lovely as I struggled with the heat, lovely shower, cleaning done daily. we had a lovely time, would definitely recommend.

Services:
The staff were quite friendly. They've provided what we've asked for as the toilettries were incomplete at the start.
Room:
If you want the best room, go for the pool access. Pay more but it's worth it. We love to swim so I'd say it made our holidays great!
Food:
Breakfast was a good range of western and local food. Since we have to leave earlier on our check-out day, they prepared take away breakfast for us.
Location:
The area is quite a walk from the beach, about 20minutes.

The staff was lovely, beautiful hotel, nice breakfast and gorgeous pool.
The only negative for us was the street the hotel is located on - full of dodgy little bars and seedy massage places.

Internet connection is weak, staff unfriendly.

The location of the hotel was difficult to find. Two taxi drivers could not locate the place. It is about an hour from the airport. Reception desk people is not friendly and you don't get the hospitality you expect from Thailand. Additionally, the hotel surrounding and the pool area is not well maintain. Would not recommend it as a location to spend long time at the hotel. Internet connection is weak.

Fantastic stay

We were fortunate to have a room upgrade to the pool villa. It was stunning. Super comfortable, tons of space, very clean, kitchen, beautiful private pool. Highly recommend. 5 minute walk or so to the main stretch of restaurants/bars/spas, though there was plenty right by the hotel. On-site spa does not cater to hotel guests directly, which I thought was odd, but plenty of good spas close by. We did not really spend time at the hotel pool so cannot vouch for that.

Amazing staff, very friendly.

Great area of Phuket, lots of good food, beautiful beach is about 15-20 minutes walk away or the hotel has a free hourly shuttle bus.

Wonderful and beautiful hotel

Almost everything was great. Breakfast had a huge variety of American & Thai. We had the pool access room on ground floor (should definitely splurge if you can afford it), requested to be away from main pool since we had a baby and although it was farther to walk to it felt so peaceful. Only negative was the horrible wifi connection and our neighbor played loud music throughout the night on their balcony. Location was central to everything and walkable to lots of eatery. There is a great laundry place right across the street with a 7pm return time so if you have a late flight drop off in the am and packed clean clothes in your luggage. Would definitely stay here again.

Affordable Luxury

Luxurious hotel with great pools, beautiful courtyard. Very good buffet breakfast. It's a bit of a walk to the beach, but they provide a free shuttle (that we never bothered to use). Would definitely go back.
