We see a family of 5 and had 2 rooms right next to each other with inter-joining balconies. It made life easy as we didnt have to keep knocking on each others doors could just access through the balcony. We had beautiful pool views (the pool area is an absolute highlight). Our rooms were spacious and clean. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Its worth paying for the buffet breakfast, one of the best we've had. We made use of the fitness centre (multiple machines were out of order which was disappointing).

The property is in need of repairs due to getting older. 2 out of he 3 pools are nice.

Absolutely beautiful staff and great location. Food was great in the resort and was amazing hospitality. Location great and family friendly. Only disappointing thing was had 5 guests and had to book two seperate rooms not joined. Ended up in one room with the other empty at twice the cost. The 2 bedroom wasn't available. The 1 bedroom could easily accommodate 5 guests and we had to pay for 2. It's a great option for families and the staff are amazing. The pools great for everyone. We had a lovely stay

We enjoyed our stay at Kata Palm we thought it was good value. It’s a beautiful serene setting especially the pool and the refurbished rooms are great. They are currently doing construction so you would want to check your room is away from any noise. The staff were all fantastic to deal with, especially Sutisa at the tour desk who helped with our activities. The area in Kata is near the beach and lot of great restaurants.
The breakfast was fine, it changed daily and there was plenty to eat

Okay hotel but nothing special, the positive is the friendly staff but the hotel needs a update in general I was there 17 night's and the electricity was not working 3 of the day's and also there was no water in my room 3 other days. Every time there was a problem with either the electricity or water in my room the staff fixed it within 4-7 hours 😁 in general a okay hotel but I would find another if I should go to that area another time

AC worked so well, our room was lovely and big. Dining/pool staff were amazing, special shout out to our new friend Joy who went above and beyond for us. Overall a great family friendly place.

Hotel is nice enough with nice food etc and lovely staff. I had an ongoing problem with plumbing in my rest room which really needs addressed properly.
I feel the hotel is clean etc but some areas would benefit from updating.
Kata beach is a short walk.

We enjoyed our time at Centara Kata. The resort is getting a bit tired overall (pool area, sun loungers and some parts of rooms) but the staff was fab, the location suited us and it met our needs perfectly. The grounds were lovely and the pool options were varied and there was something for everyone in our family. I would recommend the breakfast also, delicious options that varied each day and were fresh and interesting.

We loved how family friendly this hotel was. The buffet had a kid station and the pool facilities were great as they had shallow and deep sections and a waterslide.

We were a little let down by a few things- closure of the kids splash pad (currently under construction), water turn-off dates (between 9-11am one day without notice) which meant no flushing toilets or showers for the family, and being overcharged for items at the restaurant. Having to bring up issues with staff really took away from our experience at Centara Kata.

We did like the hotel overall as it had good sized rooms, good pool facilities and lovely grounds, but the lack of communication from service staff about promotions or closures meant that we couldn't rate it higher.

Room was big but the AC was garbage. We were uncomfortably hot the whole time. Everything was dusty and there was mold all over the bathroom and everything smelled like mold, even the tissues. The location is good, not too far of a walk to Kata Beach. Would not stay here again.

Compact, kids' paradise (Great pools) and everything in the resort is accessible in 2min walk (especially from the family suites!) and the resort itself is all just 2min walk from a great selection of local and international restaurants, with the main Kata bustle another 5 minutes walk past those... plus lots of nearby laundry services (60Bht/kg), shops (t shirts, hats and bags mostly) and 5min to the supermarket. The golf course cuts EVERYTHING in Kata of from the beach, which is a real pity, but the beach is only 2 minutes in the complimentary shuttle bus or about 10min walk if you want get down there for the 9am wave machine opening time, which is highly recommended!
Speaking of recommendations; the very busy Eight Fold restaurant right at the hotel barrier does a fantastic mix of \"kid friendly\" spaghetti Bolognese and authentic Thai dishes, the pizza restaurant 200 metres up the road on the left does the best stone baked pizzas (\"better than Pizza Express\" - which is the kids' benchmark of a decent pizza) and Cafe Oh-O* in Palm Square (also <1 min away from the hotel) came out a little more pricey, but because they do really cheap, good sushi and LOTS of other stuff too, especially their cake selection.... and then another 1 min past Palm Sq is \"Lost in Phuket\" for great burgers and the best value, well cooked steak in Phuket (but no Thai food).
*Café Oh-O was fantastic for all but 1 of our visits: the normal staff were really attentive, but we had 1 bad a Tuesday lunch

The Centara Kata Resort is a great hotel with lovely, helpful and friendly staff, but I simply can't give it more stars because if you have young children, the hotel facilities are *dangerous*. :(

The main swimming pool is very appealing to children as it has a splash pad and a water slide. However - worryingly, the pool randomly changes from shallow (100cm) to deep (130cm) with no markings (other than a mosaic-style numbering which is flush with the ground beside the pool and is oriented outward, so you can't read it from inside the pool anyway. There's nothing in the pool to indicate a change in depth (some pools have different coloured tiles to indicate a depth change) and this is not helped by the irregular shape of the pool.

Our daughter loves diving under the water to grab toys from the bottom and pretending to be a mermaid. We don't make her wear a floaty if she's in her depth as she wouldnt have much fun. On our first day, we were all in the pool and she was in her depth, but was moving along the side of the pool. She got to the fake rocks by the slide and was using those to move along the pool, and none of us realised the pool had got deeper. Her hands slipped and she went straight under the water, completely submerged. Thank god my husband saw her, because i was holding our other daughter and had my back to her. He managed to grab her and pull her up. I told the receptionist, who promised to ask the GM to contact me, but he never didn't. :(

It was OK. It's looking a bit tired in places and it's not a grand beach centara but overall for the price it was OK.

A few points to raise. We indulged in the seafood buffet on a Thursday evening. Apparently \"eat as much as you can\" - this was not the case we were served 1 squid, 6 or 7 prawns when more prawns were requested we waited for 30 minutes another waitress bought a squid to our table so we asked again but they never arrived so we left.... Staff too interested in looking after large tipping guests, which is a shame.

Our child loved the pools so that kind of made up for our so called seafood buffet!

My family and i loved our stay here staff went above and beyond.. my wife has a prosthetic leg and the staff were so accommodating set us up on a easy acces room put non slip.mats through the room and chair in the shower... the staff were amazing and always had a smile lots of great activities like bingo by the pool and heaps of games for the kids around the pool .... the buffet breakfast is top notch and the food in general delicious... the 3 pools super clean and perfect for a play for the kids or relax for the adults... kids club was fun my daughter begged us to go Daily and the staff in there were super caring...overall fabulous experience location is perfect lots of cool local food and massage places for mum and dad all within walking distance... best experience ive had for a long time at a resort... we cant wait to return and highly recommend centara....

This property was very nice. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. We had a garden view suite and were able to walk right out to the pool. Staff at reception were good and maintenance staff fixed our hall light which wasn't working when we checked in due to electrical issues. Our only issue was the housekeeping staff which gave inconsistent service. One day they didn't come at all and we had to phone the front desk at 5:00 and ask if we could get more water as the hotel supplies 2 bottles per day. Also towels were sometimes stained which didn't mean they weren't clean but still for an upscale place this should not happen. Pool towels were often stained as well.

Stayed for 9 nights with our children aged 6 and 9. They loved the swimming pools which were well maintained.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was very good, catering for a wide range of nationalities.

As I understand the hotel will be refurbished in a year or two so that tells you about the state of the hotel for now. Maintenance was average any fittings or fixtures loose can ask for housekeeping. Air con is a bit noisy at night. Pools could be better condition especially the quiet pool. During check out staff were much more hospitable and helpful. That's a good impression for guests leaving. Pls do the same too when guests arriving :)

The hotel needs a refurb. Bathroom towels grey, old and stiff. The light in both the bedroom and bathroom is insufficient. If you want to apply makeup you cannot see properly. The photos make the hotel look a lot nicer than it actually is. The staff are lovely

The cleaning staff for the rooms were excellent (Pancake). The Rooms were not well maintained (doors on the cupboards that would not work, draws that were not working) - fixed after a couple hours. Garden beds that were not weeded (fixed second day). Pool that was green and slimy and dangerous to swim in never fixed. Hotel agreed to check out now and full refund as they could not get maintained staff to fix after 5 days. So Ms Nancy (on site manager) did try to work it out.

As much as this resort is a beautiful hotel with a best in class atmosphere, it would be a facade if not for the outstanding staff.
The staff we encountered, in particular the towel lady at the bar pool , the pool bar staff, the security staff, our room cleaning ladies and of course the very nice man at the front taxi/van entrance who always greeted us with warm friendly conversation and assistance, takes customer service to a level above expectations.

We will most certainly stay here again given the chance.

As a person who is blind. The staff here made my stay amazing! From the accommodations and assistance, to the three pools to choose from, water slide, breakfast buffet, gym, and being a ten minute walk from Kata beach. This place was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend for anyone from single person traveler's to whole families to come stay. Some friends stayed at a hotel on the beach and it wasn't nearly as nice as this one.

Fabulous hotel!

We have travelled to Thailand many times and stayed at many hotels, but honestly, this must rate as one of the most amazing stays ever. Although the rooms are a little dated, the facilities are beautiful, the food outstanding and the staff friendly and efficient. The hotel caters wonderfully for young children. The location is excellent with lovely restaurants close by and the beach just a short walk away.

What a wonderful resort and oasis from the bustling Kata Beach area. We absolutely loved this resort, from the pools to the warm and helpful staff to the incredible breakfast buffets! The rooms are spacious, lovely and quiet if you do not stay in a poolside room on the Emerald Pool. We did not stay poolside there but at the Elephant pool which was quiet. Emerald Pool has a lot of activity with families and music blaring on the speakers, which is a fun place to hang but if you are looking for a quiet afternoon nap or something, I would recommend not booking those rooms. The grounds of this resort are exceptional and so lush. The walk to the beach (there is a one-way drop off shuttle courtesy of the hotel) is not too much, you get to stroll past restaurants and shops along the way and people watch. Highly recommend this resort!

Immediately at check in the staff were very helpful with all enquiries, they gave a free room upgrade to a newly renovated room, and the amenities are very good. The gym has not only free weights and machines, but a thai kickboxing room too. They have two pools with easy first floor access and one has a kid's slider as well. One can easiky wakk from the hotel to Kata beach so the location is prime. Loved the food too, thai and foriegn options.

Lovely hotel in a great location

Centara is located close to Kata and Karon shops and beaches. The staff are very attentive and made our stay more enjoyable. The choice of pools are ideal for families or couples. Our children enjoyed the water slide. The kids club is well equipped. The family rooms are spacious and come with a fridge, microwave and sink. Meals in the two restaurants are well priced and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay at Centara.

Overall good place. I wouldn't say 4 star hotel/resort but the staff were extremely hopeful. I guess maybe for Thailand it's a 4 star hotel. Centrally located but not really next to much, if that makes sense.

No major complaints, just not what I was expecting. Beds could be more comfortable and room insulation was not the greatest.

Must stop is the Greek restaurant in Palm square and local restaurant just down the entry street.

This was a good place to stay close to everything,(By car or tuk tuk cheap transport) But far enough away from crazy areas like Patong especially at night.
Had a great stay, staff are great & very helpful.Booked transfers at the resort in near new air conditioned van to Phi Phi Island day trip, Patong shopping, airport.etc.

Friendly and helpful staff at all times. Our room was comfortable and quiet. For my liking the bed was a bit to soft, however my wife thought it was perfect. Our room was on the ground floor. Looking into the garden and pool. We walked from our veranda straight towards the pool. We loved our swims in the pool. Good water quality and well maintained grounds. I hired a scooter from a travel agent 150 meters from the hotel for some fun and independence. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

What could I say? It was great!!! We had an excellent time at Centara Kata Resort. My family was so happy and satisfied. The room was new and clean, the breakfast was complete, the swimming pool is beautiful, the staff was so friendly, and -finally- the price was fair. We are totally thankful to all the staff for providing us an excellent experience. Free tip: if you are going to Phi Phi, you should check more options of taxi and ferry boat before any agreement. I chose the tour company in the hotel and my bill was a little bit more expensive than the price I could pay if I looked for taxis by myself. No complains, the service was good enough, but if you're looking for \"saving money\", check it out around.

Very nice hotel - highly recommended for families.

Very nice hotel with a beautiful garden. Staff is all the time very friendly and competent.
Kata Beach is very good for children due to the beach condition.
Town has everything but more family orientated.

Family of 4 1st overseas trip altogether

Our family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (11 & 8) really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were all very lovely. The cooking class was fun. The local area was quieter than Patong which was a great way to introduce our boys to Thailand we did go to Patong a few times via Tuk Tuk which didn't take too long and were easily found in close proximity to the resort. There were plenty of places to eat in and surrounding the resort. The breakfast buffet offered a nice variety of foods. We would definitely stay there again with our kids.

Good for families and close to the action.

This hotel was a great family hotel. We booked a 2 bedroom suite on the ground floor beside the Emerald pool. We loved the room, the pool and the hotel generally. It was located close to many shops, restaurants, massage, scooter hire, etc, so you don't need to travel far to get dinner or some pampering. This was our 3rd time in Phuket, once with my wife and I at the Le Meridian near Patong, once with our 3 kids in Sunwing Kamala and this time with extended family and our kids. This was our favourite location as it was practical but not our favourite hotel (Le Meridian was the winner here). But we must compare apples to apples and Le Meridian was more costly and 5 star. For the money Centara is a brilliant hotel and i highly recommend it for families wanting to relax but not be too secluded. Only thing is the breakfast options are not varied enough so within a week you find you are bored with Breakfast and a buffet is usually one the great things about a holiday. Don't get me wrong, it was good but just lacked the 5 star touch i am accustomed to when it comes to choice... Other than brekky i cannot fault the hotel.

A very nice hotel

We, a family of five, stayed there for 4 nights in 2 rooms, although not connecting ones as we requested, we were given rooms next to each others, it was convenient enough to take care of the kids at the next door. The hotel staffs were friendly and the hotel facilities, pools and fitness room, were good except the room shower for which the water was a bit weak. The big balcony with a good view of the pool refreshes our holiday mood from time to time. Parking is convenient. The buffet breakfast was great. The snack bar nearby the pool was terrific. If the pool opening hours can be extended to 9 pm or 10 pm that would make it perfect.

I stayed for 10 days, and really enjoyed the hotel. The gym was fantastic, pools were lovely, great to have towels and comfy loungers. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. They have a set of private showers below reception so you can shower later in the day after you check out. Overall very happy to stay here and would come back.

A concrete monster

Probably we were spoiled by our experience with wonderful beach hotels in Khao Lak and Krabi but this hotel came as a sobering shock.

I would rate it as two-star at most. It is a concrete monster resembling a prison in the middle of the bustling city.

Shopping in Bangkok with Glow

We have a fantastic stay with Glow, the staff were very helpful, friendly and also willing to assist with any request. The only downside was the neighbourhood but as we had come specifically to do shopping it was brilliantly situated.

Nice hotel but there's no elevator.

We got a room on a third level at first. We got tried from walking up to the room because there is no elevator.
Then we ask for room changing at the first floor because our mom is quite old.
The staff agreed to give us a room at first floor on the second day of our stay.

Good hotel, but...

Avoid Bow at the front desk. With smile on her face, she has been most unhelpful. Other than Bow, he rest of the staff were quite good. Overall it is quite good hotel with good rooms, restaurants and pools. I wished though it had better access to the beach. Also the food at buffet dinner on Thursday night was good but the band playing the music was not.

Nice hotel, quite a walk to the beach

Enjoyed staying at Centara Kata Resort, quite a walk to beach, around 15 minutes to get around Club Med to get to beach. Nice layout and very quite, never heard any vehicle noise in 2 week stay. Spa massages very good, each therapist trained 3 months on massage!

Sea and street shops in walking distance

Polite and kind staff. The officer who lets the cars in the hotel area was very helpful when we asked where to find what. Hotel was flexible with personal requests. Breakfast was more than good but needs a bit more to be excellent -- my girlfriend had to request for soft boiled eggs because only hard boiled eggs were available the time.

Rough start, but sunny days ahead.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that the room type we had booked (2 bedroom suite) was not available, despite the fact that I had booked 6 months in advance. We were offered 2 1 bedroom suites instead. At first, I was hesitant as my kids are 12 and 15, but the rooms were next to each other and right next to the pool, and the kids were ok with it. We moved to the room we booked after 3 days
We were given free WI FI and a meal voucher for the inconvenience caused.

Nice hotel, hard mattress!

This hotel was centrally located in Kata so was close to shops, bars and restaurants and the beach. The fitness facilities were really good. My only problem with the room was the bed. The mattress was really hard and there was not any way to get comfortable. The surrounding neighbourhood is ok but the room we were in is situated adjacent to the hotel driveway and you can hear a lot of the noise from people coming home from a night out. There's also a construction site on the other side of the driveway so if you like to sleep in, wear ear plugs! But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Nice Hotel and Grounds.

3 pools to choose from makes it ideal for adults who want to find a quiet area to read, sunbathe and swim, away from children. But at the same time ideal for families, with the main pool having a toddlers paddling pool Good choice of menu but bar prices a little on the high side. Staff always on hand to answer any queries and organize trips, taxis etc.
