Room clean and comfortable, no hot chocolate though! Quality of evening meal average, food lukewarm, very thick crust on steak and ale pie, beef and mushroom stroganoff with rice tasteless. Very small portion of sticky toffee pudding which was also lukewarm.Waste of £50. Wish we had ventured out into town as this was a birthday meal....disappointing. Even though we locked the room door when we went out Friday we noticed it was UNLOCKED when we returned (maybe after cleaning). Glad we didn't leave any valuables in the room.

The four poster room was beautiful with a stylish en-suite. However it was too hot and noisy due to loud bathroom fans in nearby rooms and the busy road outside. Breakfast was excellent but evening meal was very disappointing with unpleasant meat in a stroganoff with no sauce. Staff were excellent.

Great location, 5 minute walk along the canal to town. Hotel is opposite the train station, fire station & a supermarket. Room was nice & mostly clean although a desk lamp had quite a thick coat of dust on the base. Our room overlooked the road at the front which is busy - noise didn’t really bother us but would probably ask for a canal side room next time. Nice bar area. Had dinner in the restaurant & it was good, but small portions. Salmon came with 3 very small 1/4 roast potatoes. Black olive & feta salad had no olives! There is a supermarket over the road… Breakfast was good, although the beans were cold. Staff were great, especially the lovely lady who served breakfast.

Staff excellent, room clean and comfortable, great breakfast, only couple of negatives; bathroom door was sliding and had no lock so not very private, and radiator knocked all night no matter what setting we tried, as no staff on duty at night we had to grin and bare it, other than that would definitely recommend the Herriot.

We were not made aware when we booked or on arrival that’s there was a wedding reception. The noise from the DJ, disco,music and Karaoke was unbelievably loud from our room from 8pm until after midnight and we had no escape from it. We feel that we should have been made aware so we could’ve made an informed decision and stayed away. The room was also tired and in need of updating. We did meet some nice friendly staff but the above spoilt our stay.

Good selection for breakfast. Would have preferred coffee/tea to be served rather than carrying hot cups/teapots through the bar area to the restaurant area.
Poor quality bread for guests who require gluten free options. Would also prefer tables to be set for meals rather than cutlery in buckets. Others using the table before us had probably touched the cutlery rather than it being freshly set for each guest.

Our bedroom, whilst one of the dearer ones, was incredibly noisy from the traffic outside. Think the room could have benefited from triple glazed windows.

One night stay. Modern updated room with great bathroom and bath. The taps were a concern since the water could shoot out the sink!
Bed comfortable but didn’t like the pine posts made to resemble four poster bed. They detracted from the room making it appear smaller and one post was in the way of the tv.
Room hot but there was an air conditioning unit that could be used.

Wonderful room overlooking the canal

Our stay was wonderful. On arrival I asked if our room was overlooking the canal- it wasn’t but the receptionist swiftly changed it. Lovely room with balcony - the bed was really comfy & a handy fan was useful. The breakfasts were fantastic with big choice. I loved the fresh fruit salad. Staff all very friendly & helpful. Very easy to walk into town along the towpath - we had an excellent visit

Came down to breskfast and dog hair on stairs and on the floor in the bar area alot of dog hairs.

We had a 3-night stay to attend a wedding locally. All went well until Sunday morning when the breakfast was so slow in our order being taken and its non-delivery before we had to leave. Our complaint was met with courtesy \"the kitchen is very busy and every one came in at once\". Apologies hardly compensated for no cooked breakfast which we were depending upon. A threat of a poor review must have encouraged the management to email us whilst we were out for the day and offered a refund and apologies for the lack of sustenance. So, we felt satisfied that we were compensated and we think a lesson was learnt. I would stay there again. Our superior room overlooking the canal was worth the extra.

We ate in the hotel restaurant on one evening and the only negative comment was that they forgot to bring our drinks initially and the food service was slow. The meal was excellent when we got it.

Herriots is in a great location to be able to walk into Skipton, we chose to walk via the canal which was lovely. Our room was comfortable with a very small en suite. We ate in their Rhubarb restaurant, portions weren’t large but very tasty, the lady who was front of the house was excellent. Breakfast was good although very busy. Altogether a good stay.

Great Hotel

Check in was easy, with a pleasant lady telling us what to do. Our bedroom was small but adequate overlooking the main road. The train station is across the road. It's about a ten minute walk to Skipton town centre, and you can walk along the canal side, which we did and was pleasant. The breakfast was good, either cooked or continental.
The bad bit! The extractor fan in the bathroom would not go off. We turned the light off and there is usually a delay before they go off, but this one stayed on....all night! I looked around for another switch but couldn't find any (Room 6).

Really enjoyed our stay ..easy to find..off road private parking..the hotel is very welcoming nicely decorated and clean...the bar is a good size and well stocked..the room was large with plenty of storage and room to sit and read or study..the bathroom had a bath with shower and toilet.. plenty of hot water..the bed was very comfy and sheets were fresh and clean..The breakfast was amazing with everything you could want and plenty of it.Only 10 mins walk into town along the canal which runs directly behind the hotel...All in all a great hotel

We had booked a superior room which was nice enough, but was at the front of the hotel overlooking a main road which was very very busy and noisy. Also the room was the first room at the top of stairs so every other guest had to walk past to get to their rooms, adding to the noise. There was tean and coffee provided but they were of stsndard nescafe etc. No biscuits etc. We felt as a superior room it was probably the worst placed in the hotel.
Breskfast was ok, but could have been so much better. You have to walk out of dinng room to get cereals , fruit , tosst and coffee etc. English breakfast items were good quality but not cooked very well. On the first morning we waited that long for someone to take our order we had to go seek out the waitress.

All in all for the price we paid we found the hotel not up to expectations. Ver6 expensive for what it is.

I was not impressed being ‘ejected’ , as a resident at the hotel, at 11pm on a Saturday night. As a hotel resident, every where else I have stayed I could get a drink. On this occasion there were probably 15 hotel guests in the bar but we were all evicted. I will not be staying there again.

I had a lovely stay here. I stayed in one of the single rooms, it was very comfortable and had a nice view of the canal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very close to the train station which was convenient for me. Could not hear any trains or traffic and had a peaceful nights sleep. Would stay again :)

Nice hotel, great location, nice room.
Didnt quite live up to what we expected. Decor needs touching up here & there. Staff mostly pleasant, although breakfast waitress could do with a personality transplant!
Temperature in the hotel/room was too warm!! Had to open both bedroom windows (end Oct), but road noise too loud. Had to sleep with noisy fan on.
Shower too complicated, thermostat too hot, water scalding hot.
Wasnt warned about sliding bathroom door, which leaves a gap either side, didnt really give you privacy when using the loo!

Bathroom sink had a waterfall tap which made it difficult to fill the kettle without getting water all over it. Spa bath tended to spray water everywhere if you didnt have it really full or you moved about in it.
