Beautiful hotel,friendly helpful staff,day and night,we had stayed previously for a wedding,but came back for a birthday weekend,really enjoyed our stay,only complaint i have was they was doing the function room up,right below our room so was woken early sat and sun by the work being done,sanding scraping,banging.if not for noise it would of been 5 star,but would book again,as the hotel and area is beautiful.

The room was spotless, shower good and a large room, stayed in 227. No view.
If you cant manage steps, make sure you ask for a room that has no steps to it.
Breakfast was fantastic, very freshly cooked, so a little wait, but worth it.
The hotel, is totally accessible by car but if walking a steep climb out of ilkley to the hotel from centre of ilkley. Taxi is £5 one way.
Hotel a little tired in decor but comfortable.
Please remove the dead hanging baskets out front, it doesnt do the hotel any favours on initial appearance.

Hi - i stay quite a lot (almost weekly) and this was the first stay where the room provided caused be to not have a restful stay. I was allocated room 114 and there seems to be an air conditioning unit or generator on the roof space just outside the room window which is very loud. It did stop for most of the night but started up again very early.

The rooms were large and spotlessly clean, as were the spacious toilet/shower rooms. The included shower and shampoos smelled divine! The bed was very spacious and comfortable and I had a really good night’s sleep. The breakfast was exceptionally good, as was the service in the dining room.

Unfortunately there were some school parties both evenings. I believed I had requested a quite room, so was disappointed to be put right above the hotel reception entrance where all the kids were sitting outside until the early hours of the morning.

The kids (probably aged 16-18) were also all congregating in the entrance and literally making it impossible to even climb the stairs to the rooms.

Apart from that the room was fine, the staff also fine. It is convenient as a hotel.

My access card to my room hadn't been programmed. Left my case etc in the corridor before going back to the receptionist in order to fix the issue. Room was bland. No paintings or wall art. Toilet/bathroom very clostophobic, required the door left open into bedroom. My stay two years ago was a far nicer experience.

I requested an early check-in as I was feeling tired after a long drive. The initial room I was given was very cold, and the radiator wasn’t working. I contacted reception and was transferred to another room, which seemed smaller than the first one, but that was fine. Unfortunately, the heating in the new room wasn’t working either. I decided to just leave it as I was too tired to deal with it any further.

It was a quiet place. Only stayed overnight. Nothing much to see around the area. We went to the restaurant/pub downstairs but no one’s around. After 10 minutes of waiting staff came out by the bar and we ordered our food. Chicken Caesar salad where big portion of chicken and not so much of lettuce. Too salty as there’s too much anchovies. I think there was no chef around that night. Overall it was ok. The staff were very apologetic for keeping us waiting. We understand. No problem at all. We were the only customers that night + older couple. All good.

We stayed here in January 2025 and it was looking very tired. The updates are fabulous and it so much nicer. Great location. It sits right in the middle of the moors and Ilkley, with about a 10 minute walk to both or a 2 minute drive. On a hill though?

If you're staying in Ilkley, the Craiglands is your go to hotel. There's a lot still to like about the place. Reception is friendly, bar area is good and the place is clean. Go upstairs, not so much. The place looks tired with a lot of fading wooden door and old carpets. My room was fine, but again, it's old. It gives you the feel of how things were in the 80's and nobody has bothered to give the place an update.
Finish on a positive, the breakfast was good!!!

This hotel has such great potential and is just let down by it's age.

The beds were so comfortable, the rooms very roomy, but my gawd the rooms / hotel were cold.

We were planning on having dinner too, but due to a party would have needed to eat in the Bistro (cold). We sadly felt that the staff were too busy with the party catering, so took our chances elsewhere.

Personally I would love it if Best Western could align on their pet policies. We stayed the night before in another BW and paid £15 for our dog - here it was £25

Clean, quiet and comfortable

A comfortable stay in a very clean and spacious room. The area was quiet, and there was plenty of car parking space. The only problem we had was that there were no evening meals served during our stay which meant that we needed to go back into the town after a long Sunday of travelling.

Big Victorian hotel just outside the town centre but walkable in 10 minutes. Easy to get onto the moors behind the hotel as there’s a footpath near. Comfortable bed and brand new bathroom. Plenty of parking space.

Overall good stay with the Craiglands, nice big car park and big capacity hotel with a relatively cost effective price for the area. Hotel decor and fittings are a little dated overall but by no means would I call it tatty or tired, that means lovely grand features amongst some things which feels like they could do with an update. Comfortableand clean stay. Staff were very friendly if a bit sparse during my stay. A large coach trip of East Asians happened to be staying at the same time I was there which didn't cause any real disruption to my visit except for not staying for dinner or breakfast, which I found easily a pretty short walk away (10 mins tops downhill to be in town - uphill to return if you were doing that and Ilkley is a bit hilly away from the centre being in the valley). Overall good stay, would stay again especially if price continues to be the differentiator Vs some of the more central options - I paid £90 for a night here when The Crescent in the town centre was asking £140-£150 - The Crescent is glorious but on a business trip I'm penny pinching!

Not dog friendly !

We changed our usual hotel in Ilkey due to the location of Craiglands between the moors and the town and the Best Western brand and as it stated dog friendly . The dog beds and the bottle of bubbly was a lovely touch , with a very comfy bed and great bathroom .However we felt 2nd class citizens just because of the dog . Signs on the towels asking us to use them for the use intended ! The room was long and dark and view of a pipe , mossy roof and brick wall . We had to leave the window open as the room was so hot and so was woken each morning by the kitchen extractor fan at 6-7 am .
When we politely asked to move we were told there was no spaces in dog friendly rooms and they couldnt do anything about it. We would have checked out but the room was not refundable . When we saw an upgraded room it was like a different hotel .
Meals/drinks had to be taken in a bar room and even when the big restaurant was closed for breakfasts we felt we were put in isolation in the bar on our own even thought the brasserie floor where everyone else was was hard and so easier to clean . No food available after 7.30 . It did feel like Marie Celeste and bars/reception had a intercom system if you needed a member of staff .Maybe no people in the bar due to the cost of drinks £16 a pint of beer and glass of wine .
Unsure if we paid the same as other standard rooms but wasnt worth it ! Come on Best Western! Shame because the staff were lovely . I would add photos but this app wont let me .

The hotel is in a lovely spot in the town of Ilkley, although it is up a hill, almost a mile from the town centre. We have stayed at Best Western Hotels many times over the years and found that this one didn't meet the usual standards.
After parking our car in the car park we were faced with a set of very steep steps to get us up to the road outside the hotel and then more steps up. On checking in, we were ignored by the first member of staff we saw, but after a while another member of staff came to our rescue and mentioned that younger woman was learning the ropes. Fair enough as we all have to learn, but the young member of staff could have said someone would be with us soon instead of just leaving us standing there.
Our room, number 234, was up in the loft to the second floor, then down steps then immediately up another steep set of steps with our suitcases! We are both pensioners and not in the first flush of youth! The room was fine, but somewhat warm and we had to leave the window open each night to breathe.
At reception, there were hardly any tourist leaflets (we were told they had been removed) and a street plan of Otley, not Ilkley. The staff member managed to find me one but the reception did not have any for the 3 days we stayed, just the Otley town plan! Not useful for their residents!
The next day we couldn't
access our room. Probably due to the learner on the first day as the key had been wiped. All those steps up and down twice at the end of a busy day!

On the first night there was an Ilkley Business awards night. On the second night there was a wedding party. Both nights were noisy into the early hours. The fire alarm went off 3 times during our 2 night stay, once very late at night and twice at 4.45am. Leaving there very tired &looking forward to a good nights sleep at home. Not the relaxing break I thought I would get.

The building itself is a beautiful building, however there was a slope in the floor of our bedroom we had frosted glass windows and the furniture is all very tired and needs a complete overhall.
The cobwebs between the wardrobe and wall were unacceptable and the bathroom was clean but very old.

My allocated room was in the annex reached by some very, very steep stairs. The room was clean but stark, no pictures on the wall. The bath and sink were very old, chipped and cracked. There was a door on the corridor outside with a squeaky hinge that was noisy for a prolonged period overnight. There was limited choice on the breakfast buffet and it wasn't refreshed promptly. The drinks dispenser produced truly awful (instant) coffee. The hotel is in a good location but I believe is in need of a thorough update.

Public rooms were all clean, well decorated and furnished.
Didn't use Bistro but the breakfast choice was good and plentiful.

The room was too warm and no thermostat on the radiator - I had the windows open throughout. On the last day, someone entered the room around 7am, despite having locked the door. I suspect a member of hotel staff, but it felt very unsafe.

Great welcoming from staff, friendly & approachable.
Room was warm & all facilities i.e fixtures & fittings, in bedroom & bathroom were in good order.

Before we explored the town, we decided to have afternoon tea, which was wonderful. The walk to main attractions/shops was easy and took approximately 10 minutes (if that). Plenty of shops/cafes/restaurants & bars. On returning to the hotel, we opted to get one of the local taxis, which only cost £3. The hotel has a bar which is reasonably priced, had a night cap then retired to our room & had a great nights sleep.

My only complaint is that being a Victorian built property the floorboards creaked. You could clearly hear the guests in room above walking about. The remedy is simple put talc between the floorboards and it will remove the creaking.
