Amazing location, quiet but handy for the river, tube and westminster/horseguards/Trafalgar Square.
My room was comfortable but the only niggles were a lack of hot water on my first morning and a slow draining shower. Thankfully it didn't overflow, but I reported both issues on my departure. Otherwise a great place to stay with a good breakfast offering.

The room was spotless but the heated towel rail in the bathroom was not working and could not be repaired while we were there. Several windows did not fit adequately and so were draughty. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Generally we felt privileged and cared about during our stay.

The location and lobby of this hotel were fantastic. The doorman was so incredibly friendly and helpful (wish I could recall his name). The bars and restaurants were great. However, the room itself was tired. Carpet needed to be replaced, furniture was worn, very few plugs in the room, etc. The bathroom was large but the shower was tiny, and the tile needed a deep cleaning, or replacing. The room was relatively quiet, which was nice. Housecleaning needed to be a little more consistent. Found a candy bar in the chair, someone else’s soap in the shower, and they were inconsistent with leaving caffeinated coffee. Bed was comfortable. Room service food quality after midnight was atrocious (jet lag). The chicken on the Caesar salad was grey, and the lettuce was wilted.

My third time staying here… love the hotel. Now they state snacks free….The refrigerator had one candy bar and a cracker type snack . I had to tell them to replace the water, which they did… but for the cost of the room, they were cheap.

Pervz was wonderful! He was a complete gentleman and helped us not only with our bags but feel comfortable right away! We appreciated his attentiveness and willingness to help us without even having to ask. Yulia checked us in and was also a delight! We were able to check in a bit early and she told us all we needed to know about the hotel. Mohit delivered my room service and he was very kind. He confirmed my meal was gluten free and reassured me everything was safe to eat. We had a number of people also help us throughout our short stay, and they were wonderful too. Overall, amenities and location were perfect but the staff made our stay incredible! Can’t wait to go back! Thank you!

Check in was ok - friendly enough staff but they had booked my friend and i into a double room when i had booked a twin. They offered a king size as an upgrade but we wanted separate beds. So then had to wait while they tried to find a room. Eventually got a twin but it had frosted windows so we couldnt see out.

Good amenities, nice large fluffy towels. Nice bathrobes and slippers. Coffee pod machine and shortbread, also free popcorn and a chocolate bar, plus water and soft drinks.
We did not get information on breakfast times if we desired. Nor did we receive a room upgrade and didnot receive the 20% off foodd.

We had a six night stay at the hotel. Every detail was thoughtfully and carefully curated. The reception and concierge services were always courteous and friendly. Osmany at the front door was always willing to have a quick chat! The breakfast was outstanding as well as the bar next-door, Equus, which produces delicious drinks and food. It was so close to the nearest tube stop and yet the neighborhood was so very quiet and peaceful. The location near the Thames and Whitehall Gardens was lovely as well. We give this our highest rating and approval and should we be able to visit London again would book this right away!

One of the concierge staff, Chico, kindly gave us a personalized tour of the historic part of the hotel which was one of the highlights of our stay. He even offered to take photos of us which was above and beyond and incredibly kind. We were very happy with our stay!

Beautiful lobby, great breakfast.. tea not brilliant (if you know, you know. Lifts and corridors are shabby, room was clean but tired furniture and mattress was very firm (preference).

They lock you out of your room on checkout day before checkout which was annoying..

No turndown service but on the first night I had a muffin in our room with a note address to someone else 😂..

All in all not quite what it used to be.. which is a shame.

The room’s bathroom was not functional and the water constantly overflowed from the shower. It was horrible. After a day of complaining, they changed our room a the new room didn’t have a functioning heater. I wouldn’t stay there again, expensive but the service do not match the price…. Not even a holiday inn would have been that bad!

Having previously sampled afternoon tea at The Royal Horseguards hotel we decided to stay a few nights as a special celebration.

Our 3 nights in this wonderful hotel, a magnificent building with lovely features (especially the stairs), spacious rooms and a view over the gardens and river which was spectacular (especially at night when the buildings were illuminated), was a joy.

The staff we interacted with were brilliant; professional, polite, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. From the first greeting at the front door (the likes of Prevez, Osmand and others whose names unfortunately escape me), reception (Gerald, Abeena et al), concierge (Burak, Chico, Szymon and their colleagues) to those in hospitality (including Elisabeth and Asa) and house keeping until our departure the staff enhanced our stay.

I have no doubt we will return to this wonderful place and have sung the praises of The Royal Horseguards hotel, especially those working there that make the hotel special, to family and friends.

The doorman who worked from 7.00am to 4.0pm ( he wore a flat cap to keep his bald head warm and had a salt and pepper coloured beard). He was the first person we saw as we approached the door and his welcome was so friendly. He made us feel so at home before we even entered the building. He continued to greet us so warmly every time we went out. He was the star on a very impressive hotel.

I thought i would love this hotel but unfortunately i didn’t. Hotel it is at a good location, and staff clean/fix the room everyday which is nice.
My room wasn’t ready so i had to wait about 30-35 minutes, not too long of a wait but i really wanted to rest. I booked the deluxe queen room but sadly the bed was quite small for two people, i have ‘vip access’ but wasnt offered any upgrade or any benefits with it. Not sure of its because an old building but was able to hear all the noise from outside, the TV wasn’t working properly so that was a bit annoying as well. Doormen were all so welcoming which was nice as well.
Overall i didn’t hate this place but didn’t love it either.

The room (deluxe double with garden view) was comfortable and although facing Embankment the traffic at night was light so did not interfere with sleep. Very powerful shower. There was no noise from other guests in the corridor. The lobby area was lovely, with a stunning floral display on a large round table. The hotel is steps away from Embankment Underground station.

The booking system was down when we arrived. I had requested rooms 213 or 212 for our 3 nights stay. Also for an early check in (I offered to pay) as we had a meal booked before our trip to the opera and wanted to get changed from our journey. Check in was delayed until 3.20pm so was even later. We were given room 212 then just as we were to collect our luggage the receptionist came running over and took the key cards back. Eventually we were allocate room 112.

I stayed at the Royal Horseguards for 7 nights. I was very impressed and would recommend this hotel. The staff are attentive and prompt. The breakfast buffet is the same everyday, and is of above average quality. The dinner I had at the hotel restaurant was great. I should also record that my 24hour flight landed at 6am in the morning, and although check-in was at 3pm, I queried whether there was the off chance my room would be ready before then. I was very thankful that per chance, it was. Thank you again!

Our room was as described and was kept spotless by housekeeping. There were nice amenitites in the room such as water kettle for tea or coffee as well as a coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable. The best part of the visit was the hotel staff. They were always ready to make you visit as pleasurable as possible. This included receptionists, housekeepers, door men/hosts Pervez and Milion, concierges, and the host in the Green Parlour in the morning, Joe. Those three men added greatly to our enjoyment during our stay. We were there for one week and will definitely stay there the next time we visit London.

Although the room was adequate it was not the quality expected of a premium London hotel. There was no hot water for showers in the morning then we had a 20 minute queue for breakfast which caused us to be 2 minutes late for checking out whereupon we were locked out of our room. The hotel clearly couldn’t cope with the number of guests and when we complained at checkout the manageress simply stated there was nothing she could do and to take it up with Expedia as that’s where we booked. Terrible service with no offer to recompense us for a poor experience.

My vacation was almost ruined because the room was soooooo cold (we called it fridge), wondering if it is normal in UK for hotels to keep their guest rooms cold to save money? That would be pathetic.
To make it worse, nobody was even trying to help after i brought it up to the front desk. Be aware, their frontdesk does not like to pick up phone calls! I had to go down to talk to them.
So one word to summarize my entire stay: COLD, COLD room and COLD staff.
Have to give one star, maybe for the location, but this subway station does not have lift, not with one star, but i don’t have a zero star choice any way!

P.S. if you read reviews in December 2025, other people also complained about room temperature. Wondering if they have really bad AC system that keeps breaking? Or they do not fix the broken one, instead they give it to the next customers?

Room was clean and tidy. For a 5star hotel I found it disappointing Staff didnt inform us how to order breakfast or order in the restuarant as we didnt book breakfast as part of the package. Room had all the standard amenities. Tea and coffee kept in a drawer in the room. Disappointed that the mini fridge only had one of each item . For the price of the room and service , we could have stayed at Premier Inn.
