This property and the staff were absolutely phenomenal. I couldn't have wished for a better start to my stay in Bali. I stayed here for 3 nights and had a hill view room with lovely views, granted that I had to be ready to face monkeys as they did come and walk along it, hang off chairs etc. Be mindful to keep food out of sight. The ambience at this hotel is chilled, calm and helps you to immerse in the culture. I loved it and would stay again. The hotel sent me a tray of desserts expressing with a card wishing me well after I sustained an injury on an excursion. Such care. Also the food here was out of this world.

beautiful property. People are friendly. lovely pool. our 303 villa is gorgeous. the recommendation from a lady manager? to restaurant Begawan Biji was unexpectedly enjoyable. We didn't get to see UNESCO rice terrace due to big crowd, so the visit to this restaurant made us feel better..really enjoy our massage experience (love the flower bowl underneath head pc, so can stare at flower, instead of ground). The cocktail is weak (maybe is all southeast asian thing?) & taste ok? food option is limited and service is kinda slow. in all, very good and happy. will recommend to friends

We really enjoyed our stay. They staff was super friendly and helpful. Our airline didn’t get our luggage on our last flight, so we didn’t have our checked bags. The staff at Alila worked hard to help us get updates on our luggage even though it wasn’t their fault. They offer several different activities. They have live music some nights at the resort. Overall it was a fantastic place to stay!

Nice pool but rooms are not

I have to agree with someone that wrote that this is not a 5 star hotel unfortunately. Pool area and both restaurants are great. Staff is incredible friendly and helpful and that is what improves the review but the rooms are not up to the standard. Our bathroom roof was leaking after every rain, and the rooms are really small with not even a space to open your suitcase, almost no closet space either.

This is a beautiful hotel - you’re in the middle of nature and stunning views all around. The infinity pool is really relaxing - definitely take a dip. The restaurant has amazing food - I didn’t try the western cuisine but the Asian cuisine is delicious. I also appreciated that they had free shuttles into town 3 times a day.

Great location, poorly maintained and overpriced

The hotel is in a great location, surrounded by rice terraces and forest. Away from the main centre of Ubud, so lovely and quiet. I stayed in a room with a balcony - number 508.
This hotel was significantly more expensive than everywhere else i stayed during my 3 week trip to Bali. Staff were great and food was also good. I enjoyed the complimentary yoga session.

However everything here; the spa, transfers, food, drink was between 30% and 50% more expensive than other hotels, and the quality was not as high as my experience elsewhere. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel, but my room was really shabby. There were damp patches at the bottom of all the walls and large brown stains all over the mosquito nets. The coffee machine didn't work because the 'pods' were cheap non-branded versions and didn't fit. I was unable to charge any of my electronics as the plug sockets in the room were badly positioned in relation to the (fixed) furniture, so i was forced to continually take them to the reception to charge. There were only two small bottles of water in the room - particularly poor when you can't drink the tap water. I loved my stay at the Udaya - closer to Ubud, lovely rooms, pool and spa - and far better value for money!

We were delighted to be upgraded to a villa.
On our first day, a group of monkeys visited our balcony.
It was a huge Villa, with an open air bath tub and a separate room for shower n toilet.
The Villa was spacious and cool.
We enjoyed our stay at the villa.

Alicia Ubud is a jewel in the jungle with complimentary shuttles 3 times a day into downtown Ubud. Perfect for the traveler wanting an escape in a serene and tropical high end resort. The infinity pool is the best in Bali and the property sits majestically in the middle of the jungle with surrounding rice fields and beautiful vistas. The staff know you by name and the service is attentive and always served with the traditional Bali smile and grace.

Our deluxe room was overall very damp, including duvets etc. we put on the dehumidifier for a whole week but hardly anything dried. The usual amenities were missing from the bathroom, like toothbrushes, shower caps. The restaurant and Cabana Bar were good. English yea was generally very weak.

Alila Ubud - top experience with minor errors

The staff were all very friendly, just perhaps slightly forgetful at times e.g. bedroom - replacing water bottles, missing hand towels; dining - missing cutlery, and bringing hot coffee instead of iced coffee. Nothing major, and we suppose it’s understandable given they have endured pandemic for 2 years without tourists.

The food was delicious (we kept saying sedap sedap!)

The spa, is incredible. Genuinely fantastic experience that we truly recommend.

The Rice Field walk and local village visit are also very enjoyable.

From the booking, to the checkout everything was flawless. The entire team exceeded five star expectations.

Special thanks to the professionalism with front desk team and especially Yuni who arranged a beautiful private birthday suprise dinner in the jungle. Chef Wayan whos food was flawless and packed with flavour as well as the FOH service team who delivered attentive friendly service at all meal periods!

My wife is so happy, i’m not sure how I will be able to up her birthday experience next year!

Totally relaxing too short of an escape sadly. Resort is completely in the forest. We had the Bale Benong dinner experience on our stay. Highly recommend this experience. Our personal assistant on the night although only young was extremely knowledgeable on his heritage and proud and service was to detail.

Lovely hotel however rooms in disrepair

The hotel grounds and location are lovely, really remote, quiet and the scenery overlooking the jungle is amazing- unlike anywhere I have stayed before.

The staff are lovely and try their upmost to welcome you and to help you.

The only downside to my stay was the room and the level of disrepair- not something I would expect from a 5 star hotel. One of the taps fell off the shower onto my girlfriends foot badly bruising it. The staff sent a repair man to refit it, however a day later it happened again as it wasn’t repaired properly. The sink in the room was also loose, and the toilet seat was wobbly. This is not really acceptable for a hotel in this class. On complaining on checkout, the management offered a discount on our bill which was nice however these things shouldn’t happen in the first place.

Excellent value for $ if slightly showing its age

We came here on a couple’s retreat and stayed in Ubud for two nights. I was slightly skeptical of Alila Ubud when I booked given its age (it opened in 1996), and I’m very picky with my hotels (5* snob here, sorry) but it turned out to be a really nice stay. The property was indeed a bit old and in need of some minor touch-ups especially in the suites (what’s up with the hospital-style water faucets really??), but the overall classy graceful style remained. The suites were clean and delightful, so I’d give it a 8/10 still.

What stands out was the customer-centric service - everyone we met was so helpful and friendly and would always go the extra step to offer something more - special shout out to Suri at the Plantation restaurant, Putu aka Agung at Cabana, the nice man by the pool who’s worked there for 23 years (impressive). 9/10

The food is generally okay - nothing overwhelmingly impressive, but everything was nice. 7/10

Location - a bit far out from Ubud Central in the middle of lovely jungle green and some rice paddy fields, so the plus side is it’s well away from the crowds and traffic (plus amazing views). Not for someone who’s afraid of the occasional gecko, frog, lizard that might cross your path though (I liked the guest appearances). 8/10

Facilities - excellent pool, awesome spa, decent (albeit basic) gym. 8/10

Wat to heaven!

It was my second time staying Alila ubud. This resort is located upper sider of Ubud where is surrounded by the beautiful jungle. It is not closed (like walking distance) from the center, but they offer the suttle 3 times a day to and from the center.

The pool is fantastic and well managed. Food of pool bar is also great to chill out and have fun together.

I loved the spa in this resort where i can take shower watching so many stars in the sky. The product they use is also great.

The staffs here are all kind and ready to help us with everything. The tour they offers are also great. I recommend thr unesco tour.

I will defenitely come back and stay here any time soon. Highly recommended who needs relaxation with athentic service and atmosphere.

It was an enjoyable stay. We were a family of 15 with kids, there were monkeys all around. The kids enjoyed it and we did too. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was good. Breakfast was nice and the choices they had everyday changed. They also had high tea. They continuously asked us about our transfers and details which was one thing that stuck to me as other hotels that give feee transfers don’t even mind asking guests but they kept following up with us.

I loved my stay here and didn't want to leave. The superior room was spacious and overlooked the forest. It was wonderful waking up to the sounds of the forest each morning, albeit early. The monkeys come close to the rooms and I loved watching them. The food was good and staff very pleasant and accommodating. The free shuttle to Ubud is great but it's a shame it doesn't run in the evening.

We stayed in the villa and it was everything you expect in a 5 star hotel/villa. As a matter a fact, the service exceeded our expectations! Breakfast was always delicious and different everyday. We even requested food that wasn't even in the menu and they made it for us. The view was amazing especially with the infinity pool. There was a lot of wild monkeys which made it feel a lot more exotic compared to some villas and hotels I stayed in. We could've done other excursions but our stay in the villa was more than enough for us to enjoy ubud!

Amazing jungle resort

Alila Ubud is amazing; the staff are incredibly attentive and kind, and we learned that the hotel endeavours to hire local villagers as staff, which is a nice touch. The rooms are beautiful and the semi-outdoor (private) shower and bath was a really nice touch.

The surrounds are simply stunning, perhaps one of the most beautiful places we've been, and the local wild monkeys provide for some entertainment during the stay.

While the rooms represented value for money, some of the meals and drinks at the hotel were a little overpriced for what they were. Although, this is probably to be expected of an upmarket hotel resort like this one.

Wi-Fi strength was a little poor at times, but isn't really a necessity at a resort like this, where the goal is rest and relaxation.

I would definitely stay again. Highly recommend.

The resort was the highlight of our trip to bali. Beautiful escape, amazing infinity pool, very clean and tasty food, breakfast lunch & dinner menu are at a very good price good portions and tasty. The spa therapists are highly recommended. The staff is very kind helpful welcoming and take all necessary measures for a luxury stay. We recommend the balinese lifestyle experience with the hotel they take u around and you really get to understand the culture. The tree villa was worthy of a 5*L hotel Luxury hotel. The yoga class in the morning was very relaxing. Would highly recommend. The hotel provides transfer to the market & pubs nearby, but i recommend to stay at alila away from the crowd but close enough.

Pool is stunning. Starlight cinema was also a great evening chillaxing activity. Professional, knowledgeable and attentive team of staff member made the experience extra memorable.

The only thing I would complain is there were way too many flies at the breakfast table, probably due to the location of the hotel...?

Unique Tropical Luxury Retreat

A wonderful, unique property, the Alila Ubud is nestled about 15 mins in the hills away from the center of Ubud.

The staff were cheerful, attentive, and very helpful in all our interactions. The rooms, while on the small side, are beautifully designed and furnished. And many come with an incredible view of the valley behind the hotel. Don’t miss out in their body products from the spa either!

Definitely a hotel we’d like to return to soon

Great peaceful getaway among the rice paddies and jungle. That said some updates could be used. Staff was incredible and so kind. A magic experience.

Jungle retreat , amazing scenery!

Expect crowded pool area, and outdoor bath and shower in your room unless you have a villa.

Staff amazing and so polite and accommodating. This was the best representation of the hotel, the staff.

Perfect relaxation

Great hotel for relaxation in Bali. Away from the hustle and bustle but easy to jump on the hotel shuttle or catch a taxi into Ubud centre. Hotel surrounds are beautiful, the pool and restaurant have spectacular views and weren't too busy. Breakfast changes daily and is designed for tasting so you get to try lot's of various dishes, just a shame there wasn't a gym to work it off! There are free bikes but the local roads are fairly busy so we didn't end up using them. There were a couple of movie nights during our stay which is at the pool and had to be the most beautiful cinema I'd ever been to! We only had dinner at the hotel once during our stay as there are lots of great restaurants in the town which are a fraction of the price. Would definitely stay again if visiting Ubud.

Alila is a botique property that lives up to its Balinese tradition of style and luxury. The service is excellent and the hardware are in mint condition. There is a world class spa with the well trained staff giving out the services.

The pool is quiet and the entire place is shrouded in serenity and comfort.

The attention to details is clear from the management.The location is also perfect and the environment is genuine of a Bali experience.

Wonderful hotel with exceptional staff

A friend highly recommended the Alila Ubud to us and I’m happy to say we were not disappointed. From the setting, to the visiting monkeys, the room and restaurants were all great. But what sets Alila apart is the staff. Every member of staff we encountered was knowledgable, friendly, kind and happy to share local knowledge. We also loved the events showcasing local culture, like the Balinese dinner, dance class and music etc. We can’t wait to return.

The rooms are very old , no maintenance or upkeep of property . No Food and Beverage options just 1 place is available . Very nice pool but deffintely not a 5 star hotel .

Pure bliss...

An amazing time was had at this little oasis, the perfect way to wind down after the Christmas craziness. The staff were attentive and lovey, always able to meet any request, including the shooing of the monkeys from the balcony!

Serene Oasis nestled in the Rain Forest

On family holiday with my daughter, who has a severe nut allergy. Within the first 24 hrs in Bali, she had a terrible episode - which took her 32 days to recover. Upon arrival at Alila Ubud she had another (to our dismay) ... the staff went above and beyond to assist her recovery. Every staff member showed genuine concern. Providing transport to pick-up medication and even the following day went out of the way to get her a topical cream; as her skin was still inflamed. the resort is a serene oasis, not far from downtown Ubud. Waking up to the sound on the jungle and the surprise monkey visits poolside were a real treat. We enjoyed our stay surrounded b y nature.
