The Royal Pita Maha was truly a magical place to stay while in Ubud, all the staff were so lovely and attentive. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was as memorable as it could be. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back Ubud.

Beautiful Balinese style hotel. Our room - Royal 1 bed villa was absolutely amazing with an incredible infinity pool over looking the jungle.
Unfortunately I would not rate the food, very average. For such a large international hotel that is amazingly beautiful is a real shame that they fall down with their food.

We just returned from an incredible two and a half weeks at The Royal Pita Maha in Ubud, Bali, and we can’t say enough about how wonderful our experience was! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and a sense of tranquillity that set the tone for our entire stay.
We had the luxury of staying in a villa with a private pool overlooking the breathtaking valley. Waking up to that stunning view every morning was simply magical and made our holiday feel truly special. The villa was beautifully designed and offered the perfect sanctuary and a complete privacy for relaxation.
The hotel facilities are exceptional, from the breathtaking design to the impeccable upkeep of the grounds. The dining options were fantastic as well. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the Dewata Lounge, where we had the choice of a set menu or à la carte options, both of which were delicious. We also tried the Ayung Organic Restaurant, which features an amazing setting next to the river, offering a unique dining experience with fantastic food.
One of the highlights of our stay was indulging the spa, which offers a wide range of treatments and options to choose from. The visit was a blissful escape that added to the overall relaxation of our holiday.
We also had the pleasure of experiencing a floating breakfast in our private pool, and a magical thousand candle dinner. Despite the rainy weather when we had the dinner, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that the experience was unfor

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at RPM.
The location was stunning, the staff were beautiful, the accommodation wonderful and having our own private pool was amazing.

The only downside were too many steps as it is built in to the cliff abive the valley. Unfortunately I had an injury which made the steos difficult - the wonderful staff did nit hesitate in moving our room cliser to the lobby which made getting around easier.
The spa was also lovely and the girls there were beaitiful and gave great massages.

The property truly is incredible. Gorgeous. The staff is friendly, helpful, professional and polite. The privacy and luxury are exceptional. While there are a few issues, the absolute beauty of the rooms and views make up for it. Truly a majestic experience.

On to the Issues: Some villas are a long walk. Up many many stars through sometimes confusing winding paths. You will have time to appreciate the beauty as you get lost, backtrack and get turned around. We stayed in two different villas during our stay. The Royal Spa Villa (at the bottom of many steps and twisting paths) and The Royal Pool Villa (near the entrance and very convenient).

The mosquito nets, while pretty much unneeded, and only for aesthetic value, I noted they were not always clean. With the Royal Spa Villa’s being quite dirty.

On that note: bugs. You’re in the jungle. There will be bugs. Thankfully there are no mosquitos, but in the room I found a few moths, one or two ants at any given moment, and one cockroach (dead thankfully). I’m sure they treat for it, and it did not impact our stay, but yea… you’re in the jungle.

The restaurants. The restaurants in the hotel that are just for guests are fantastic. Beautiful views and delicious food. The restaurant that is open to everyone has very mediocre if not bad food, but the views there are absolutely breathtaking, with massive statues overlooking a vista that people line up at for social media shots.

Overall an amazing hotel, with a few caveats.

It was about our 4th time at Royal Pita Maha. The rooms were not well maintained. Facewashers were not replaced after 1st day, neither toilet paper. Evening turn down was only once in 3 days and curtains were inaccessible to close ourselves. Wi-Fi was very poor. Staff were very good and friendly. Beautiful people. The spa was excellent. The hotel is on a magnificent property but at least 15 minutes out of town by car.

Complex seems nice and well maintained. Villas are spacious and offer nice views. Since there are openings around the AC, we had few bugs and lizards roaming the villa as well.
We noticed some roaches at the brakefast by the egg station and we both have some stomach issues during our stay. Definitely something to improve.

The staff were incredible - very friendly, attentive and caring. The food was also terrific - local indonesian and international options. There were 3 pools in addition to your private pool which all had different offerings and vibes. Very relaxing and enjoyable stay! Will recommend like it was recommended to us!

It is nice staying at a top quality resort that is not part of an international inauthentic chain. Although those chains have their benefits at times, Royal Pita Maha has kept up to their standards and made it authetically Ubud! Thank you!

The villa was claimed clean, however, my husband and I noticed dirty linens and the pillow covers smelled unwashed. The floor was very dirty. The ceiling had spider webs. The wooden sliding doors won't fully shut so the bugs/insects could easily get in the room. We could not sleep properly due to the insects feasting on us. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights, however, we ended up staying for 2 and had to move to other hotels due to horrible experience at this hotel. The whole resort felt like we were in a ghost town. The property sits at a very beautiful location, but they have to do a major renovation. The food were not good, not for a five-star hotel at least. Overall, we were very disappointed and dissatisfied with our experience at this hotel.

We loved the property itself. We felt like we should be in an Indiana Jones movie. While our villa was definitely not new, it was kept in good condition and so incredibly traditional Balinese it was very fitting with its surroundings. Unfortunately, what let Royal Pita Maha down was the food. Their menu was pretty basic with standard Asian fare and nothing creative nor modern-inspired like many great restaurants now in Bali. The food was also really expensive (Bali-wise) for the quality and creativity. I would recommend staying there for the property alone, but be prepared to venture out for meals. Breakfast, however, was really good.

One of the most beautiful resorts I have been to in my life! It’s amalgamation with nature and original Balinese architecture was exquisite. The staff is very hospitable and friendly. Our 3 nights stay were amazing! We stayed for our honeymoon and the place was perfect for it.
The food is amazing, the view from the restaurant where we had breakfast was spectacular.
As weather changes in Ubud constantly, we were able to enjoy different views of the jungle.

My wife is in absolute love with this place and this is saying a lot as we have been fortunate enough to see the world and rarely visit the same place twice. With that said we WILL be back. Next year indeed. The setting, the fresh scrupulous food, the unbelievably divine spa, the genuine friendliness of the staff and the pristine condition (which is hard to maintain in a humid jungle setting) of the entire property was kept in are some of the factors in why we feel this way. The view from the room was spectacular. We expected some bugs. We saw moth, gecko, lizard but not a roach on my dinner table at the restaurant! Too many stairs. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to go to the Yoga pavilion from our room. There is no fitness facility.

-Views. You feel like you’re in the jungle and have beautiful views of the river, canyon, etc. very spacious.
-Staff. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
-Service. Amazing. We were given a free massage for each day we stayed (3 days) and they were each an hour long and wonderful. Also given a free dinner and gifts throughout!
-Shuttle. The shuttle was free and convenient and easy to get to and from the heart of Ubud. If not, it’s a $7 taxi ride to get to and from the hotel.

Cons:
-Cleanliness. Although the room was spacious and amazing, we kept finding ants in our bed and in the room in general. Pretty much every night and morning we had to do an “ant check” to clean out the bed :/.
-Food. The lunch/dinners were very hit or miss. Fairly priced, however.

Starting with the room, it was of good size and most importantly the private pool was large and enough for little swims (unlike other hotels around the area where they provide a mini bathtub they consider as a private pool!!)

The hotel has a lot of lovely activities where you may spend full day without feeling bored.

The hotel is beyond beautiful and grand. From the outside looking in, one wouldn’t think that it would be so beautiful but it was breathtaking. The staff are beyond courteous and helpful, kind, welcoming, understanding. Now the reviews about the food is correct. The food is edible when you’re starving. The hotel is far from everything so going out for a quick bite can be a little difficult. But they have a free shuttle to the city which is very convenient. If you are scared of nature (lizards, frogs, birds, etc. mind you, you are in the middle of a forest) maybe this hotel isn’t for you because you may find one in your room but overall it was not bad at all. If you’re cool with nature like we were this hotel is PERFECT! It’s very clean and they have the best refreshing cool towels on a hot day. I love this hotel. I’d stay again.

Beautiful botanical garden in the middle of the jungle. The views on the property are breathtaking and the staff is very very friendly and helpful to help with all needs. They go above and beyond to help with all issues.

The villas can be nicer in the interior and insects and lizards do often come in but this is because of the Balinese style structure. The management has indicated that they will be renovating soon so it will be very exciting to come back to Royal Pita Maha in the future.

Pro: The villa was very spacious. The best part of this stay was the spectacular view, the private pool (which was exceptionally clean), and the big bathtub.

Con: There were a lot of small bugs on our bed sheets, which got annoying because we found them every time the sheets were changed. Half of the time, we found stains on our bed sheets which you wouldn't expect from a 5 star hotel. The day before our checkout, our AC died. Although they were prompt to come fix it, it took them over 2 hours to fix it. While they were fixing it, they had to keep the door open so there were also a lot of bugs flying into our place. There were various of different noises at night from animals. If you hate bugs and creepy noises at night, this place is not for you.

Our experience was a little bit let down by a steak served still chilled cold in the middle, and transportation that hadn’t been properly arranged for our departure despite confirming via email and at check in with the property.

Awesome experience living in this isolated gem of a resort in Ubud. Amazingly close to nature - mountains, greenery, waterfall, river - you have it all within the resort.

The Ayu villas (room that I had booked) have a private pool with infinity view. Ubud central market is only a short 15 mins drive away. There is free shuttle service available to and from the resort to Ubud in 30 mins interval. The spa within the resort was awesome as well.

Everything was perfect while our 4 night stay at Royal Pita Maha for our honeymoon. Staff was fantastic, very friendly and very accommodating. They made it a point and went out of their way to emphasizes our honeymoon. Free breakfast was excellent and our room/pool was very clean and private with excellent view of the valley (stayed in the private pool villa). Requested a motorbike for 3 days and they had it ready to go 3 hrs before requested time right by the lobby. Shuttle to ubud ran on perfect time. We also did the romantic dinner by the waterfall. Excellent food and excellent service. Stayed at a couple of other hotels in Bali and this one was by far the best!! A true 5 start hotel! Thank you royal pita maha for such a great experience! Will definitely stay again when we return.

Photos do not do this hotel justice. The grounds are massive- you could spend an entire day just walking around and exploring. They pushed the white water rafting a lot, which my travel partner and I were not interested in. The food was AMAZING, and the drinks were delicious, the views were unmatched. The staff was very friendly. However, we did not get our VIP perks as promised which was a bummer.

Overall, would stay again & 100% recommending this hotel to everyone I know. I would suggest staying at least 3-4 days here.. 2 was not enough for us.

Staff great, manager and her staff explained our options if we needed to move closer to the lobby because of the distance of our Spa Room location because of our age.
Our Spa villa view was great and the area private, the look and feel of the villa felt so Balinese.
The room facilities excellent. The resorts small gift and flowers with a personal note from the manager was a great touch. We even received a small gift on our departure and we only stayed two nights. The food and restaurants were of high quality. The best views of the river was from the organic restaurant near the river. Watch the water rafting while enjoying our drink.
The Spa and message in our room was a favorite. We would have loved to have spent more time at the resort.

Nice Hotel, but DON'T book the \"ROMANTIC DINNER\"

Quiet, peaceful, and spacious BUT not exactly sure where this 3400 sq ft comes from though. Even including the outdoor space, it's not even close. We stayed at another hotel afterwards that listed its villa as 1500 sq ft and it was larger than our villa here. Villa is in good condition, but since it's in the mountains, you will have to deal with small animals in your room and roosters in the morning. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
My ONE complaint about this hotel was their misleading \"Romantic dinner.\" I set up a dinner near the pool to propose to my girlfriend. I paid for the most expensive package (about $400), which supposedly came with a photographer. There was someone who took photos during the dinner, but to call this person an actual \"photographer\" is an extreme exaggeration. this person obviously does not know how to use a camera at all. They took nearly 200 photos and gave us a CD. Not a SINGLE photo was was usable. Photos were either blurry, overexposed, underexposed, or a combination of the above. The photos were TERRIBLE. The package also calls for 1000 candles surrounding the dinner site... My generous estimate was maybe 150-200. Food at this dinner was also not good. None of this was worth the price. Sad to think that we won't have very good memories or photos of what should have been a once-in-a-lifetime in our lives. NO RESPONSE AFTER I EMAILED ASKING FOR AT LEAST A PARTIAL REFUND. GUESS THEY DON'T CARE ONCE THEY TAKE YOUR $$$

RAT IN MY ROOM

There was a RAT in our room and other insects (3 lizards). It took 3 days to figure it out there was a rat and I am not sure if we were contaminated or exposed to anything. We continued to call the hotel and share that our food was being eaten in the room and things looked tampered. They continued to say it was nothing and that they checked. I called expedia and they could not offer help. I came back to the room to find the rat funny to the top of the hut. We felt hurt, scared, it made our trip horrible, and slept in fear the rest of our stay.

Nice view with private pool in villa but..

The fact that the hotel is in the “middle of the forest” helps hide a lot of the details that is lacking. By no means was our stay at Royal Pita Maha unpleasant, but this is not a 5 star hotel. In my opinion, a 5 star hotel has to go above and beyond. If it wasn’t for the private pool in the Villa and the nice views this would just be another ordinary hotel. Overpriced food/drinks (not beat quality in comparison to the price) short staffed specially in the Spa area. Again, i want to be clear when i say that our stay was not unpleasant, we enjoyed our private pool and main public pool area very much but be prepared to see plenty of “man, that could be done better or why is this broken”... little things people, little things.

Relaxing Paradise

We fell in love with the Royal Pita Maha when our river rafting excursion stopped there for lunch seven years ago. My husband and I looked at each other and we both said: “We’re coming back here!” So we flew half way across the world to spend eight days in Bali at the Royal Pita Maha and it was even better than we had imagined. We loved our private infinity pool with the view of the rain forest valley. The staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Our villa was spacious and gorgeous. We have never had a more relaxing vacation! It was even like the song in the musical Camelot because it only rained heavily after sundown! We loved it!

Great location, great views but infra is dated

The hotel is great but has the feeling of being past its prime. Furnishings look old and infinity pools are mediocre by Ubud standards.

On the positive side the hotel propert covers an entire mountain side from cliff top till river. There is plenty of nature and even a sacred pool to enjoy. The yoga at the hotel is great!

beatifiul Traditional Hotel

My wife and I Recently stayed at The Royal Pita Maha on our honeymoon.
Even though we were unable to stay the entire time of our reservation due to medical reasons, The hotel was incredibly helpful and supportive during our stay.
From little touches like a nice Honeymoon chocolate cake to flowers in our bath tub, the staff was very kind.

The moment you step foot into the lobby of this traditional hotel, you’ll feel like Royalty.

Thank you to the entire staff for making our brief stay very enjoyable.

Fantastic staff who genuinely care to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Hotel is beautiful. The ayung villa we stayed in was quite old, pool had moss growing in it. Also there are 3 restaurants serving pretty much the same menu at all 3. Would be great if there were some variety to the food on offer.

Wonderful hotel in stunning surroundings\n

We stayed here for 4 nights during our trip to Bali with our 14 month old baby. The staff were friendly and attentive. They took especially good care of our son and fussed over him every time we were in the restaurants or lobby. The location is perfect and the surroundings are indescribably beautiful. The photos just cannot do it justice. We stayed in a Royal Pool Villa which was absolutely beautiful and a dream come true. We had massages at the spa which were blissful. We hope to return some day and have already recommended the hotel to our friends.

First Class Resort in Ubud's Finest Landscape

My wife and I honeymooned at this resort and I don't regret it at all. I knew it was going to be an incredible resort but everything on site blew my mind. The staff, amenities, food, and landscape exceeded my expectations for days. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back. I'm hoping whoever is considering this resort decides to choose this one, it is the best among Ubud properties.

Beautiful stay

Excellent service beautiful villa. It's set into a steep hillside so lots of stairs to get everywhere. The \"lazy river\", which I was excited about, is really just a long pool. Beautiful scenery/environment. Not three times better experience than our previous $120/night villa stay on Bali, though.

Our stay at the Royal Pita Maha was truly amazing. Everything we could have hoped for and more - we can't say enough great things about this hotel. We stayed here for 2 weeks in one of the Royal Pool villas and the room and views were unlike anything we'd ever experienced. In addition, the staff went above and beyond to make our vacation a memorable one. We wish we could go back now!

Honeymooners in Ubud

My husband and I were there for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was great with lots of different options to choose from, the staff was very friendly and always willing to help you with whatever you needed and the location was phenomenal. It's a short (free) shuttle outside of Ubud center so you had your quiet space or you could easily get into the hussel ans bussel of Ubud. I would highly recommend staying at the Royal Pita Maha. It blew my expectations out of the water. Upon leaving, they gifted us a wood carving with our names on it to commemorate our honeymoon, and those wonderful gestures really made our stay perfect. We'll definitely be back!

This was a wonderful place, a piece of heaven. We Pre booked a number of trips prior to our arrival, all of which were well organised and undertaken by very friendly and helpful people. The hotel was a magical place of lush tropical vegetation with photo opportunities around every corner. The hotel villa was fabulous but be prepared to see some small critters wandering around, remember it is a tropical rainforest. The staff will reassure you with effective debugging if required. It didn't spoil our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel and fabulous location. The breakfast was excellent. The climb from the hotel down and back to the river and your villa will work off any excess calories you put on at the breakfast :)
