My one bed room was small and the bathroom was very small. I could hear people talking in the rooms in next to me. The rooms need sound proofing. The room had a small mini fridge but no hot water kettle to boil water for coffee and tea. Breakfast was basic. Very limited choices. I was told I would receive one bottle of water each day because I am a Expedia VIP Customer. But, I guess that was wrong or I misunderstood the person at the front desk. At check in I was forced to pay $35 Bolivia Pesos for cleaning. I was not aware of this before I booked the room through Expedia.com.

Hotel céntrico ubicado frente al estadio Hernando Siles. El desayuno buffet es delicioso y variado, con opciones para todos los gustos. Las habitaciones son cómodas y tienen excelente calefacción. La ducha tiene una excelente presión de agua caliente, perfecta para el frío de La Paz. Los recepcionistas nos recibieron con una gran sonrisa y fueron muy amables durante toda nuestra estancia. Definitivamente, cuando vuelva a La Paz, me hospedaré aquí. ¡Muy recomendado!

The establishment was clean and the staff were very helpful . Water pressure was great in the shower . Breakfast was adequate , don't expect brewed coffee . What needs attention : the Wifi in the room , the slippery bathroom floor and the fire alarm in the breakfast room which had a dead battery , hence beeped every 10 seconds.

Stay away from room 306. (this review is after staying in 6 hotels in South America)
The pictures in the website look great, but we had a small dark and very hot room with a high window- no view except to the kitchen chimney.
We were part of a tour and I thought we would be upgraded- but not such luck.
Pros: Breakfast was included. Staff was nice. Shower pressure was great.
Cons: Room was very hot. Opened the high window just to let the air coming in for a few minutes before closing it to go to sleep. Beds were on the very hard side.
Perhaps other rooms were better, but we ended up with the worst in our whole trip.
If you stay here, check the room first. If you get 306, ask for another room.

The room was clean and daily room service was thorough. My only complaint is that the bed was very hard. However, for the price this is a great hotel for three nights in La Paz

Estan refaccionando la calle de acceso al hotel, no es su responsabilidad de ellos, pero al menos deben advertirte de esta situacion para no caminar con tu maleta mas de 100 mts y de noche. La suite no tiene acceso directo por ascensor, hay que subir un piso con Maleta, no tiene botones. No pudieron emitirme una factura, el lobby y el baño de mi suite, estaban sucios, que mala experiencia, no vuelvo nunca mas; algunas cosas se solucionaban con una sola advertencia!

Overall quite good, considering that the hotel applied a significant discount to its current rates. Clean and quite comfortable, with a good breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located, but right in the middle of an area undergoing major workroads. Due to the reasons of my travel (surgery in a nearby hospital), this was a pretty big inconvenient for me and I was rather disappointed that the hotel failed to mention it.

The LP Columbus Hotel is right next to the Hernando Siles Olympic Stadium. The area is going through some renovations, including the Tikwanu Plaza, a recreation of an indigenous archeological site. There are plenty of shops and restaurants and the hotel is about a 10 minute walk to one of the Cable Car Stations. If walking is your thing, then the hotel is a 12 minute walk to Plaza Murrillo, the actual center of La Paz and all of Bolivia. The Presidential Palace and the Cathedral are located there.
The hotel is clean, safe and modern. The employees are a very friendly and helpful. Talking about safety, La Paz is one of the safest cities in South America.

It was a place enough for the porpoises of resting between two flights. The room was comfortable enough. Service is kind and collaborative. Location is not so good given that there are no decent places for dinning and the restaurant of the hotel is very simple. Public works nearby makes difficult to walk in the area.

Fantastic base to explore La Paz, very clean and tidy. Staff are brilliant, very helpful and friendly.
Is only a 20 minute walk to the center and 30 minutes to 3 witches market, or simple to get a taxi right outside the hotel.
The breakfast was basic but very good and enough of a choice.
It was so good I stayed again on my return from the salt flats for a further 2 nights.

Cons : The room was spacious, nice view, the staff were very helpful, the breakfast was good.

Pros : TV had many good movies but they were all in Spanish, it would have been good if there was at least one channel in English.

I asked for Iron but I was told I can only use the hotel's laundry service and I also asked for a small electrical Kettle but they say they don't have one.

I would stay in this hotel if I visit La Paz again.

Hotel Columbus: avoid Saturday night

There were two really big problems with my stay. The first is that on Saturday evening there was an event in the hotel with extremely loud music, so that no one in the hotel could sleep before 1am. I was on the third floor, four floors above the music, and there was no possibility of sleep. The second really big problem was that the hotel forgot about my wake-up call. I needed to wake up at 5am to go to the airport. The receptionist entered my wake-up call into a book kept for wake-up calls, but the receptionist in the morning just forgot about it. The lady who made my bed did not clean the floor, but that is a minor matter in comparison with the two major problems. In other respects the hotel was quite OK. The room was modern. The breakfast was OK, but not great.

No Heat, No Room Service

I arrived at night and the heat in my room was broken. And it was 2ºC. Very cold.
I tried to ask for room service for dinner around 8 o'clock at night and kitchens were closed for repairs.
The following day I wanted to ask for directions. The woman at the reception took 20 min of me waiting for her totalk to me to tell me she wouldn't be able to help me because she was too busy with other guests. One of the worst stays I ever had.

Hotel Staff spoke english and were friendly & Helpful with our accommodation and transport enquiries. Clean Hotel, rooms were newly renovated. Quick hot water in the shower. Location is in Miraflores near the stadium not in the tourist area of La Paz. Hotel was locked during the night hours. Distance to Tourist Area is a half hour walk.

Centrally located, but you can get closer.

The LG Hotel is centrally located, next to both the largest stadium in La Paz and the Central Park. Not more that 15min. walk to downtown, the Hotel was a 3 star hotel at best. The facilities were dated and they were under construction on the 4th floor during the daytime. The staff was great and did their best to speak English. When the internet went down on the 6th floor, they said it would be fixed in 5min, but it took them 24hrs. For the right price, this is a pretty good place to stay.

The shower glass door shattered during normal operation. The hotel manager forced us to pay $150 for a defective glass store. She threatened to call the police and we had to catch a flight so we had no choice. Beware of this hotel!

The location did not lend itself to convenient accessd to the tourist sites in the city. The room was modern, but really tiny, with little to no space for moving around.

Having an extraordinary people, the hotel has the worst facilities a person may be willing to find in a hotel. I had to accept a 3 bed room too small even for a single queen bed. The carpet couldn't be worst, same as the bed and all around.

I left the hotel without my refund. Terrible experience.

We stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Located away from the busy central area of La Paz, this hotel is close enough to walk to the main sites in town. The Plaza Tejada Sorzano contains archeological reproductions and is located right beside the hotel. Supermercado walking distance. There is a restaurant on the 2nd floor. In suite mini-bar$. Good, fast WiFi is included in price. We stayed on the top floor and had a great view.

We had a nice stay in a clean and warm room wich is supposed to be unusual for hotels in La Paz. The hotel is located just nest to the stadium where most minibusses (the local transportation) are passing.

Fine. The second room I had (I did two separate reservations) was smaller. The rooms are a little cold but the blankets are really warm. The second room was less noisy. I insist I would not mind to pay a couple of bucks more to have a more complete breakfast.. they only have two fruits to choose and the juices are not natural. Staff is really kind and the rooms are super clean.

had a good stay. was cold as in all the hotels in la paz probably,but i had a small heater in the room which helped a lot. the bed is very comfortable, wifi is fast ,staff is polite to help taking tours and getting around. the location is not the best as there are many hotels in the center. but its just a few minutes so i like it. some restaurants around and taxis passing all the time. the area is a bit dangerous in the night, but if you take care still ok. i can recommend it and could go back anytime!

Morning Stay in La Paz Bolivia

Arrived in La Paz Bolivia at 4:00am. Just needed a hotel to get some sleep for the morning.
For the price, its not bad. The room was kinda of small, but decent & clean. The beds were a bit hard, but we managed to get a little sleep. I've stayed at two 5-star hotels in La Paz Bolivia, Radisson & Hotel Europa and the beds were also hard.

Never Again.

Landed at 0245 in the morning after a night flight, given the keys to the suite that I boooked and laid my weary head on the most lumpiest bed ever. Lumps everywhere. When I complained, they took me to another suite which had the same lumps. The other option was going to a non suite room but they wouldn´t refunded the difference in price which didn´t make sense. Also, the walls are so thin, when those in the rooms next to you use the toilet or shower, it drowns out your thoughts, the TV, everything. I mention this to the reception, they promised to look into it, they never did. Will never book this hotel again.

For what you get, this hotel is overpriced. Then they charge you for every extra thing: 3 bolivianos to make a restaurant reservation, 8 to leave your bag for the day, etc… Breakfast is decent but not great for a hotel of this cost. Staff were nice enough, and the wifi works well.

Good option in La Paz

I arrived at 3:30 am and had booked a single room which was upgraded to a suite without asking. It wasn't spacious and was a bit old, but had a jacuzzi and the bed was confortable.
There are no safety boxes in the rooms, the only one is by the reception desk. It's not easy to use because they make a slow inventory of each of the things and money left, and you can only take out your things from 7 am to 9 pm. It has a cost.
Location of hotel is just ok, in front of the stadium. It's a 15-20 minute walk or a short taxi or van ride to the old part of the city, where the main tourist attractions are. It's very easy to ride vans from downtown to the hotel, taking one that says \"stadium\" in the front. There's not much to see around the hotel though, only the stadium and a small replica of the Tihuanaco ruins. This is a good option to stay for it's price, but if you consider spending more money I'd rather stay a couple of blocks south, near Isabel La Catolica park or El Prado avenue, a nicer and cleaner residential and business area.
Service was good, almost all the staff had a smile on their face, except one woman at the reception desk which I saw twice in daytime. She didn't try to help me with a couple of things that I asked for. The rest were really nice. I.E. one guy at night let me print one boarding pass but the next day this woman didn't. Also, my flight was at midnight so I checked out early, left my luggage, and asked her to let me take a shower at night. She didn't.

Adequate but not admirable

The hotel is not convenient if your main focus is the center of town. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Overall an adequate but mundane place with the primary complaint being that the breakfast never varies and it becomes quite redundant after a couple of days

Modern decor with good old-fashioned service

Next to the main stadium of La Paz, at a traffic circle with fruit stands, bakeries, banks, casas de cambio, and the like nearby. Historic churches and the like are about 20 blocks away, a pleasant walk. Rooms were somewhat starkly modern, clean and comfortable. Bathrooms not spacious but overall a very nice place to stay.

Nothing to complain about!

I found everything perfect with Columbus. The room was very clean, it had a very nice and cheap (!) mini bar, amazing beds (with REALLY duvets and not those blankets where you feel like you can't move), the staff was really kind and the breakfast buffet was very delicious!

Hotel LP Columbus La Paz

This hotel was ok, and good value for money. The standard rooms do not have double glazed windows and are quite noisy due to the proximity to a busy intersection, and the Bolivians love of the car horn. We upgraded to the suites on level 6 which did have double glazing and were great. A much better nights sleep. The staff were helpful and polite.

Small room and beware

The room was incredibly small. Smurf small. You gave to leave the hotel cars in the receptacle to keep the power on in the room ( small hint) . The breakfast buffet was minimal ( unless you like bread ) . They also charge out of this world prices to use the phone, so beware !! The place was nice but don't expect much else.

A La Paz experience

The hotel is not centrally located for tourists but is not far away and taxis are cheap and plentiful - about 5 minutes into the central tourist area or a 15 minute walk. It has a great La Paz feel with the restaurant doing a genuine La Paz buffet lunch frequented by locals. It has 24 hour reception and police security after dark. Despite a football match on at the nearby stadium, we heard little noise in the rooms.

Just \"fine\"

This hotel is fine, but just fine. I am almost certain there must be places with more character and style where you can stay. The staff were friendly, but not overly competent to deal with my request regarding the safe. If I had not enquired further I would have had to leave my camera behind, as no-one would have had access after 7pm, and I would have left for my flight before the key-holder came in the next morning!
