All very nice and good.
Located in the craziness of La Paz downtown yes, but once inside the hotel is an oasis of cleanliness and peace.
Make sure you get a room facing inside, the one facing out was loud at night.

The hotel is located in historical center of La Paz, 2 minutes walking from Basilica San Francisco, and easy to join any tours around La Paz.
Staff are really kind to provide any help.
The rooms facing the road are not suitable for people having difficulties to fall asleep, as it’s in La Paz, the traffic is busy through night and there is poor noise isolation.
Breakfast is very basic.

Excellent boutique hotel in the Center of La Paz, within easy walking distance of several museums, the witches market and restaurants. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the restaurant offers a nice range of food options for lunch and dinner. Plus staff are very helpful and friendly.

We loved the staff here, they were incredibly welcoming, kind, and helpful. Property was charming (especially the bar area) and clean.

Our only complaint was the street noise, which is unavoidable in this neighborhood. Bring ear plugs!

Room was interior room with windows that opened into the hallway and a stairwell where people walked by. Didn't open the windows for security and privacy concerns, stuffy and no fan for ventillation.
Restaurant was told we had a plane to catch and asked to prepare a (simple) pasta dish and bring the invoice. This apparently didn't translate well since it took discussion with FOUR people to mostly get this resolved.

Otherwise decent hotel with a great location but these two experiences left me with an overall negative impression.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were amazing, the breakfast was wonderful and the location couldn't be better. We had one of the front rooms and were glad we brought a sound machine. Even with the great windows it would have been a bit loud. But there are many other rooms further back that likely wouldn't have had an issue.

Fabulous place. Lovely architecture. Lovely staff and an oasis right in the middle a chaotic, but exciting town. HOWEVER: bring your earplugs. There seems to be a disco next door and there is thumping beat till 3 am every night! I would still come again but ask not to stay in room 104 or on that side of the building and definitely bring your earplugs!

Castle type of environment, feels like going back to history of glorious days. Great roof top gardens for you to enjoy after a days touring. Oasis in noisy S Francisco plaza

Stayed at this hotel 4 nights. Clean, spacious room with comfortable beds. Enjoyed the reading lights by the bed. Clean bathroom. Hotel is steps away from S Francisco church. Convenient location for historical district. Once inside hotel, you are away from the noisy and congested street. All the staff were very friendly and attentive to guests needs. Good breakfast with variety of foods. We Aldo enjoyed the bar and its lounge. The only minor issue was that after we checked out and paid our bill as we were getting ready to leave, The staff asked we pay additional charge for phone call? Otherwise wonderful pleasant hotel with excellent service and facilities.

La Casona Hotel Boutique is a beautifully restored Spanish casona (mansion) with totally modern infrastructure (electric, plumbing, wifi) - it's like staying in a museum with every modern convenience. Their breakfast buffet is of high standard, with a wide variety of offerings. The management and staff are very kind and helpful, fetching taxis, calling museums, ... The staff morale is high and they gladly provide excellent service. I've stayed in La Casona for 12 weeks now, on several occasions over two years, and couldn't be more pleased.

Our 4th trip to LaPaz

We were there 3 nights and the location, next to the cathedral was terrific. It is a well maintained, older hotel and the staff was receptive to our needs. My only complaint is that there are too few tables on the level of the breakfast buffet, which means you have to carry food down a short flight of stairs which is problematic.

Colonial House in Central Bolivia

Though the location is very central La Casona is on a busy avenue and half block from plaza San Francisco both a source of annoying amount of noise that might disturb your sleep especially if your room faces the avenue... don't expect great comfort nor high interior design codes... for a boutique hotel in a third world country I would grade it 3.5 out of 5.0... very nice people work at that hotel...

Hotel was lovely and staff helpful arranging early check in for me (at a cost) when I arrived very early in the morning. Slightly strange set up in that my bathroom faced into the internal hallway and although it had a frosted window it was a little uncomfortable. It was also affected by the motion sensor lights in the hallway so it lit up whenever anyone entered the public area. Bedroom also faced inwards but with curtains for privacy. On the upside this did help provide natural light. Not a problem overall but was a little strange.

We loved the Spanish colonial decor. The room was extremely comfortable and clean, with nice water pressure on the shower (and plentiful hot water). The staff were all extremely kind and always ready to help us. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and had plenty of choices. We especially enjoyed the fresh juices and the quinoa breakfast cereal. We couldn’t have asked for a better location! La Casona is right in the heart of the historic part of the city. We were within a few blocks of most of the tourist attractions that we wanted to see (and we only needed to walk for 10 minutes to get to the Prado station of the Celeste Teleférico line). We will definitely try to stay here again if we return to La Paz!

Avoid if you can!

As much as I liked the hotel's location and decor, I was happy to leave. La Casona boasts a myriad of hidden costs and annoying house rules that are being enforced with the tenacity of a correctional facility. Everything seems to get off on the wrong foot. Avoid if you can, I certainly will in future!

Beautiful hotel. Lovely and quaint. Huge room with a king bed and a little balcony that had 3 doors to help drown the sounds from outside. Breakfast was great, lots of options. Beautiful 3 level terrace upstairs for relaxing. This hotel is located in the heart of the city and just a few miles from the airport. It was so comfortable we stayed in two nights and enjoyed the terrace and the room.

Beautiful historic building with modern rooms

I was warmly greeted by front desk staff and escorted to my room. The room was clean, very comfortable and had every amenity and more that one could think of. They even sell altitude sickness pills if necessary. The adjoining restaurant had delicious meals which you can charge to your room. Breakfast and wifi were both included in room cost. The hotel is located on the main street connecting the bus station to downtown. I walked to the hotel from the bs station, and the hotel arranged a taxi to take me to the airport when leaving. The Christmas parade occurred while I was there which meant street noise until midnight, but my room was toward the back of the hotrl which minimized the noise. I can't overstate the friendliness and desire to please on the part of the staff.

Good hotel in main area of La Paz . Quiet as soon as you enter - with a relaxing internal courtyard and roof terrace . Rooms clean , comfortable and well maintained . My only negatives are no air con (stuffy in internal rooms ) and no complimentary water in room.

The worst!! Literally the worst place that I stayed in all of Bolivia— and the most expensive! The hotel staff was the rudest and most unwelcoming that I had encountered in all of Bolivia. I was impressed by how friendly and warm Bolivians are, but those staffing the hotel were the only inhospitable people I’d met. The bellboy was the only warm and friendly person there. What they spent on decorative touches should’ve been spent on functional rooms. I could hear every noise in the hallway and from the street despite being on the second To highest floor. There was also an opaque window in the bathroom to the hallway that illuminated every time someone walked in the hallway. I might as well have been a tent outside. I stayed in other hotels in La Paz that were much quieter. Moreover the room was hot and stuffy and clearly leaving the window open was not an option. And to top it all off, my flight was changed so I had to run immediately to the airport and called the desk to rush a taxi for me. When I got downstairs the taxi of course wasn’t called. I also was hassled about a towel being dirty. Are you kidding me?? Towels are meant to be used and get dirty. My recommendation would be to save your money and stay elsewhere where you can get a warm welcome and a good sleep.

Oasis from the hectic city.

The hotel looks exactly like website pictures. It is an oasis from the extremely busy city outside. The rooftop terrace is beautiful. The staff are very friendly and accommidating. Great breakfast option with early morning check out starting at 3am. Ask about the private city tour with Rodriguez which is both affordable and interesting.

Comfortable, good location to visit historic sites

The hotel is situated in a central part of La Paz. The surroundings are lively, allowing the visitor to not be completely isolated, but see how life is like in the city. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel again.

Such kind and helpful staff

We used this hotel as our base, while coming and going. The hotel was lovely, but the staff were amazing. I was struggling with altitude and my husband went to reception to see if the hotel had oxygen. Within a couple of minutes staff wheeled in oxygen and had called a doctor that came right to my room. Our last night at this hotel, did not happen due to a canceled flight - leaving us with a predicament. Our rescheduled flight the next day, gave us time to make our next flight, but no time to go to the hotel and collect our bags that were in storage.... We called the hotel and they sent their driver with our bags to meet us at the airport!!! Would absolutely stay here again.

La Casona is in a perfect location practically next door to the cathedral in down town LaPaz. The building is exceptionally charming and staff are always willing to assist with any and all requests. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer than four nights.

Good Location, OK Room and Staff

Booked a single room for 2 nights for just under USD80 per night including breakfast.

Arrived at around 11pm, street the hotel is on was still packed with people and busy. Check-in was quick, common area / reception is charming. The room is ok, quite spacious but nothing exciting. Good tv, mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. Toilet is basic but clean.

Staff was mostly quite helpful. Location is good, 15 mins slow walk uphill to Witches Market. I also sorted out exchanging Bolivianos and local data sim, buying over the counter medication and a fleece, all close to the hotel.

Breakfast was ok. Ordered room service for dinner one of the nights, the soup was really nice, but can't say the same for the main, it was really dry and tough.

When I headed back to hotel after a day out, the lift was out of service. My room was on 3/F I think, normally not a problem climbing a few flight of stairs, however, with the altitude, it did become an inconvenience.

As I had an early flight, asked the reception to help me book a taxi to the airport. After checking out, I waited for the taxi but it didn't show up!! A staff did help me hail a taxi on the streets, it was really quite stressful. The taxi was old and dirty, worse than the other taxis I took around town, but I felt I had no choice since I needed to catch the flight. Although not directly their problem, I think they are aware of such issue and should have advised me, it was pretty unacceptable.

Very nice hotel. i would give it a 3.5 to 4 stars

This hotel is centrally located right next to the the san francisco cathedral. The local artisan shops are within 2 min walking distance. I've stayed here before and found it very pleasant. Try to get the rooms away from the main street, it can get very noisey.

They charged me 300 bolivians thats about 10 times more for oxygen then i paid in another so called luxurious hotel.So they ripped me of.
No complimantary water. So if you have to take medicins or brush your teeth you have to buy expensive water from mini bar.
The view from the room was towards a slum area.
If you open your window there is a chimnee from the hotel kitchen so food smell so cannot open window.
Breakfast buffet, you have to buffet even your own spoon cups forks napkins suger pepper salt.
So befor you can start breakfast you had to work hard.you have to set up your own table. The employees are to tired to do this for you.

I recommend this hotel with some reservations: Some rooms are much better than others. One of the rooms we stayed in had uncomfortable beds, terrible blankets, rough sheets and hard pillows. The room was really very average and we were charged for staining a towel (with a bit of mascara), and were charged for waters without being informed of the cost ahead of time. The second room we stayed in a few days later was significantly nicer with very comfortable beds and bedding. The hotel can be loud. The location is really quite good and the hotel's common areas are very lovely. It is a good choice for this area of La Paz, however for the price, they need to work on customer service and standard of rooms.
