I liked being in an old building that was renovated with very modern bathrooms, for example. Breakfast was good, as well. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. For the price, it was a very good deal. Quiet, co.fortable, safe, convenient.

Location was Great. Room comfortable but old and odd space. Although it had an elevator, we still had to deal with stairs to get to room. Halls were very dark with steps that can be hazardous. We will be returning to Guimaraes but arrange different accomodations.

This hotel is definitely a place I would like to stay again. Everything about it was nice. The only difficulty I had was with unloading my bags from my rental car. I would recommend not turning up in a self driven car if possible because of the difficulty of stopping in front of the hotel and the general difficulty of parking in central Guimarāes. But aside from that, everything was top notch, the staff were very nice and helpful and the location was unbeatable.

Generally good, but with poorly lit stairways
The service was very good and quite helpful. The room was small and awkward. My main concern is that there were several places where lighting or other physical conditions probably wouldn't pass a US safety inspection e.g., a very poorly lit stairway down from the toilet above the breakfast room, a sensor light in a very dark hallway into the bedroom area that goes on just a bit after you take a step, and a long step from the reception area to the sidewalk in front of the hotel. Most such problems could be fixed.

In the heart of Gimaraes
The hotel is at Largo do Toural, the main squire of Gimaraes, close to everything in the town. The staff is very helpful. My room was very spacious with a modern bathroom although the sink was shallow and uncomfortable. It was inconvenient to work with my computer on the narrow shelf under the TV. The breakfast was good but the variety was definitely far away from what I expected from a 4 stars hotel.

The hotel only has 3 parking spaces. Closest free parking is a 10 minute walk away. The bathroom isnt separated from the bedroom, only suitable for intimate couples. Even with the negatives it was still our favourite hotel of the entire Portugal vacation!

Loved the location but it was difficult to park and unload luggage. This hotel use to be a bank. Architecture nice. Decor though is dark in hallways to rooms and you need to take stairs once out of elevators. Not practical. Rooms very modetn, clean and bed comfortable. Great location.

The key issues are no parking at the hotel - loading and un loading spot is in a taxi stand.

We stayed at the EMAJ Boutique Hotel in February. Originally, we planned to stay one day but decided to extend it another. The hotel is beautiful, their staff extremely helpful, and Guimaraes a great town. The hotel location is superb, overlooking one of the main squares, close to all the attractions.
Breakfast is good by European standards (pastries and coffee). Parking is limited to three reserved stalls on the street. WiFi had some trouble in the rooms but was great in the main area (was being fixed during our stay).
Overall, the experience was great and we would love to come back!

Absolument pas digne d’un 4 étoiles, mais 3 étoiles. Petit déjeuner sans saveurs, mention au jus d’orange coupée à l’eau, ascenseur sans lumière !
Mais surtout, nous avons eu une coupure de climatisation, impossible de changer de chambre car c’était complet, ok ça arrive, mais ne PAS avoir de VENTILATEUR ??? Il faisait littéralement 30,6 degrés dans la chambre (vu sur leur tablette qui contrôlait toutes les climatisations avec températures de chaque chambre, et surtout AUCUNE EXCUSE du responsable ?! On a demandé plusieurs fois à le voir, on s’est dits qu’il ou elle sera là au check-out, pour s’excuser lui même. Car les excuses des employés comptent mais je voulais m’entretenir directement avec lui, en lui expliquant qu’il faudrait avoir des ventilateurs portables au cas où, car avoir 30,6 degrés dans les chambres et sans aucun vent pour rafraîchir c’est impossible. Nous n’avons pas dormi de la nuit, mais vraiment n’avoir aucun mot du responsable c’est honteux. Quel manque de respect !! Et par ailleurs aucun geste commercial. Nous avons payé pour 2 nuits dont 1 qui ne nous a servi à rien, et qui a même suivi à des tensions car aucun de nous deux avions dormis

On a demandé plusieurs fois à le voir, on s’est dits qu’il ou elle sera là au check-out, pour s’excuser lui même. Car les excuses des employés comptent mais je voulais m’entretenir directement avec lui, en lui expliquant qu’il faudrait avoir des ventilateurs portables au cas où, car avoir 30,6 degrés dans les chambres et sans aucun vent pour rafraîchir c’est impossible. Nous n’avons pas dormi de la nuit, mais vraiment n’avoir aucun mot du responsable c’est honteux. Quel manque de respect !! Et par ailleurs aucun geste commercial. Nous avons payé pour 2 nuits dont 1 qui ne nous a servi à rien, et qui a même suivi à des tensions car aucun de nous deux avions dormis

De ligging van dit hotel is z'n grootste troef: vlak aan het Toural plein en op een paar passen van het historische centrum. Door de geschiedenis van dit gebouw (een bank) is de indeling wat vreemd. Kamer op de eerste etage, maar na aankomst met de lift moet je terug trappen naar beneden (met 3 trolleys). Gammele schuifdeur om het toilet af te zonderen. Goede matras en kussens. De gratis parking die vermeld wordt blijkt 1 plaats naast het hotel te zijn, maar die is altijd bezet. Gelukkig is er de Camões parking op wandelafstand die slechts een paar euro per dag kost. Dit is een typisch 3-sterren hotel en zeker geen 4.
