The property was beautiful and very well done from a design standpoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the free breakfast was great. 24 hour gym, nice indoor pool. The location is also good - very historic, quaint, and walkable to several dining and cafe options. Only negatives were that our refrigerator didnt work and the parking was very limited.

Great location and fantastic Pool

Great location in the historic city center, a short walk to all the major sites and restaurants. Hotel has only a few free spots for parking, but there is pod parking across the street. Reasonable at 10€ for 24 hours. Hotel bed was comfortable and as usual, the room was on the small side. The highlight was the roof top swimming pool that was really spectacular. Challenge was seating as it did get quite crowded.

Nice buffet breakfast with a good selection of both hot and cold items. They use Nespresso so you can make a great coffee!

We would definitely stay there again when we go back to Guimaraes.

The hotel is lovely and the staff were always helpful but had issues with the cleaners for room they would come in leave dirty glasses and also take I glass I had brought with me and also leave a glass full of flat coke but take my half full bottle and kept taking my card out so all electric would go off meaning my insulin was kept at unregulated temperatures

Very disappointing for a 4 star hotel

We booked because of the internal pool as we wanted to get rest, however, when we arrived there, this pool was “part of SPA” experience, and the ad said otherwise. Also, the SPA cost was 10 EUR for 1h30min, but the ad says 10 EUR per day. The bed were very small and the room does not have even a kettle for a coffee or tea as you can find it in any 4 star hotel. I felt I was scammed by the hotel. The service desk was terrible at the check-in. The receptionists even didn’t want to see my confirmation proofing that what I was saying was true. Everything is chargeable at this hotel. A simple bottle of water will cost you 3 euros. I defo won’t recommend this hotel.

The hotel, the pool, the gym were all very impressive but the staff were hands down amazing. After our 2 nights we were meant to change to a different hotel but we didn’t want to leave so we stayed another 3 nights & even today I didn’t want to go. Everything was very easy & convenient, the location of the hotel is perfect and our stay for 5 nights was just amazing. Thank you.m for making our time in Guimarães very enjoyable.

Booked 2 adults and 1 child on Orbitz. Upon check-in, the hotel front desk told us that we've only booked for 2 adults, but they were nice and willing to accommodate and move us to a bigger room. Which was nice.

We then show them the print out of our Orbitz booking...it's not about accommodating us, it's really about providing the room that we've booked.

The people at the hotel are nice, just that their system doesn't seem to connect with Orbtiz that well.

First impressions great, but they are short staffed and do not hold much stock in the bar so run out of spirits! Long time waiting for service. Reception and management don't seem bothered to resolve issues when they are advised. Rooms are very clean and looked after. Modern decor with a cozy feel

The hotel is great, location wise is convenient but a bit far off, like 5-10 minutes walking distance to centre.
Staff was really nice and kind, all information that I needed was provided very easily, but when I got to the room I was very pleased. The room was spacious, extremely comfortable and neat, very well decorated, as the rest of the hotel. the bathroom is gorge with gold details, massive tub and shower. The bed was really comfy, bedding, pillows, rope, no complaints at all.
The breakfast had tons of options and it was great and in a cool room.
I have to say, as it was rather cold outside, it felt great inside the hotel, with the fireplace on, all the little corners were so cozy and pretty. Would definitely stay here again.
Only no with this place, there is no parking although it has a place nearby for a daily fee.

The photos and room descriptions do not come close to the room received...and not in a good way. They do not look as on Orbitz website nor on their own.
We arrived to check in to a Comfort King, expecting to receive a room of approx 237 sq ft in size, with a bathroom with a shower and bathtub. I have attached photos of the room description found on Orbitz which is the same as the hotel's own website for a Comfort King.

The bathroom was so small there was not even a place to put hand towels or toothbrushes or cosmetics. There is no bathtub.

When I asked Reception why we were not given a larger room with bathtub as we confirmed, they told us it was because we booked through Orbitz; that we should have contacted the hotel to request a room with bathtub. Why is the onus on me to do that when the description specifically said the room had a bathtub. Reception had an attitude as if Santa Luzia were a 5 star Ritz when in fact I have stayed in many 3 stars that were better than this!

As you can see by other reviews I have made, I am not a complainer, but when a hotel blatantly puts pictures and descriptions that are not close to what a guest receives, I think they deserve to be called on it. It is just not right. Santa Luzia ArtHotel, FIX your photos and room descriptions!

Do NOT believe their pictures and room description

The photos and room descriptions do not come close to the real room...and not in a good way. They do not match on Orbitz website nor on their ownWe arrived to check in to a Comfort King made through Orbitz, expecting to receive a room of approx 227 sq ft in size, with a bathroom with a shower and bathtub. I have attached photos of the super small room and closet size bathroom (with no tub) that we received. It does no good to do the research on room size and amenities if the hotel is not truthful in the photos they post and the descriptions they give.We were assigned room 221. It did have a king bed, but in no way measured 227 sq ft. Certainly not the attractive bathroom shown on their website and on Orbitz for a Comfort King.
When I asked at checkout why we were not given a larger room with bathtub as we confirmed, the Reception Desk told us it was because we booked through Orbitz, that we should have contacted the hotel to request a room with bathtub. Why is the onus on me to do that when the description specifically mentions a bathtub?
As you can see by other reviews I have made, I am not a complainer, but this is a misleading lie.
Stay somewhere else, I wish I had!

A lovely character hotel in a lovely, small city.

This was an excellent hotel - one of the nicest we've ever stayed in and great value for money. It's in a quiet lane a short walk from the historic city centre. It features a beautifully-designed modern extension of an old building - the public areas are particularly attractive and peaceful. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, the staff were knowledgeable and had excellent English and the breakfast buffet was delicious. Evening meals are available, although we didn't use them because Guimaraes has so many lovely local restaurants. Guimaraes itself is easily reached by train from Porto and has a central role in Portugal's history - the old town centre is a lovely jumble of alleys and squares. The castle and the Ducal Palace are worth visiting and the cable car to the top of Penha gives a superb view over the city and its surrounds. Above all, though, Guiamares is a charming small city that's just a delight to wander around and experience - and the hotel was a perfect base for doing so.

O hotel é bonito e as áreas públicas são agradáveis e acolhedoras. Já a área de spa é um caos, funcionários perdidos, acessos, controle de toalhas, agendamento de massagens, etc, tudo bem estressante, uma multidão a utilizar, barulho, saunas pequenas (cabem apenas 2 pessoas em cada), é para sair correndo...
Café da manhã bom, com variedade e qualidade.
Boa localização, dá para fazer tudo a pé. Não há estacionamento, mas tem opções próximas, ou mesmo na rua.

Passamos uma noite, estava chovendo muito e tentamos jantar no próprio hotel, que estava vazio, fomos informados que estava lotado com as reservas, porém ao sair do hotel restaurante estava vazio e ao retornar muitas mesas vazias!
Infelizmente essas coisas deixam a desejaram, mas a localização é ótimo e o quarto também, porém muito escuro, tanto quarto quando banheiro. Mas hotel é bom!

The hotel was probably one of the best when opened. Now it has gone some years and the rooms have started to wear down.
Golden pleating on things as bathrooms buttons etc have worn off making it look not so nice.
Above my headboard there were lots of handprints, high all over the wall. This made me quite uncomfortable. I know a lot of people use hotels for various activities, but I don’t like to be shown so graphically what has been going on.
Either the hotel needs better cleaning or a remodel because the freshness of it has worn off.

If remodeled, please stop with the separate hot and cold faucets. They never kept the temperature and it was a constant waiting and juggling for water to not be burning hot or cold.

Said that I did feel very welcomed and relax upon arrival. The hotel itself is beautiful with a lot of attention to detail(initially). One other thing that bugged me was the big mat in the common area that was crooked and no one seemed to notice. A little thing, that brought down the impression.

Breakfast, I preordered vegan breakfast, even double checked with staff the day before it was all sorted. Come morning, and there is no vegan breakfast. Kitchen has not been informed.
Had dry bread with only jam(there was milk in the butter)as my only option for spread.
They did sauté some vegetables for me, but I would have preferred a standard breakfast. Breakfast staff didn’t speak English and communicated with everyone in Portuguese regardless of nationality.

Hôtel bien situé proche du centre historique à pieds. Pas parking à l hôtel, difficile de se garer dans la rue à proximité. Il y a un parking privé payant (10€/j) juste à côté de l hôtel et facile d accès. Piscine intérieure avec SPA et piscine extérieure mais eau fraîche pour début octobre.
Bon accueil à l hôtel et chambre propre.

Nuit à Guimaraes

Pour avoir fréquenté un certain nombre d'hôtels 4 étoiles au Portugal celui là est décevant dans les détails. Le rapport qualité prix n'est pas à la hauteur. On paye la piscine sur le toit ça c'est sûr. Mais même si elle est spacieuse, grande et permet de se rafraîchir et aux enfants de s'amuser, il y a beaucoup de monde sur un espace restreint et ce n'est pas un réel moment de détente.
Par contre, la chambre est propre, la salle de bain agréable et la literie très bonne.
Je suis déçue des détails et certains sont gros. Nous avons réservé une suite pour 4 et surprise, à part le lit et le canapé lit, il n'y avait qu'un seul fauteuil à côté de la table pour s'asseoir. Chaque personne bénéficiait d'un jeu de serviettes, une petite et une grande mais 3 jeux et pas quatre. Brosse à dents à disposition, très bien mais 2 au lieu de 4. Bouilloire, cafetière avec thé, café très bien mais prise défectueuse...
Le parking disponible n'est pas celui de l'hôtel. Il y en a un à proximité qui est payant ou en marchant avec les bagages on peut trouver gratuit mais sans surveillance ni sécurité.
Sur le global, c'est assez bien mais pour tous les détails, ça ne vaut le prix demandé. Dommage !

Passamos duas noites em um quarto em que o ar condicionado só fazia ventilação sem esfriar. Tinha mofo no teto na entrada do quarto. O ‘técnico ‘ nos disse que era assim mesmo e que estava funcionando sim (???) Como na terceira a noite o cheiro de mofo estava insuportável decidiram nos dar um quarto decente e com ar funcionando plenamente. Só não fomos embora na primeira noite porque já estava pago. É de uma falta de bom senso primeiro subestimar a inteligência do hospede e depois achar que um pedido de desculpas e um doce de brinde vai substituir duas noites mal dormidas. Lembrando que estávamos no verão de 36°C.

O hotel é muito bom, quarto confortável, boa estrutura e ótimo café!! O estacionamento é bem limitado mas conseguimos uma vaga depois de estacionar na rua e ficou tudo bem. Da pra fazer tudo a pé a uma curta distância, recomendo esse Eurostar em Guimarães

Trop bruyant pour dormir la nuit

Hôtel très bruyant avec le restaurant terrasse juste en face des chambres. Impossible de dormir. Et la réponse de l’accueil est qu’à 22h il est l’heure du dîner.

O hotel em geral é extremamente agradável e recomendo bastante apenas tem algumas questões de acessos e estacionamento que provocam algum desconforto.
Saliento a importância do hotel implementar o sistema de aquecimento que não estava disponível a quando da estadia.

Déçue.

A notre arrivé un accueil un peut brouillon sur la communication, peut être du fait de la fatigue.... Puis arrive à la chambre surprise terrasse privatif déchets sur la petite table, la vitre de douche coincé impossible de la fermer ou ouvrir donc peur de la casser bilan la douche prise de l'eau partout donc serviette blanche par terre à chaque fois.... Donc je reviens à l accueil pour avertir de tt cela, ont me dit que c'est pris en compte et qu'il fessait le possible, bilan tt le séjour sans rien faire, averti une 2 ème fois.. Tjrs rien.. J'ai laisser tomber...la chambre disponible des le matin vers 8h tout les jours, revenu vers 14h après manger pour une douche ou sieste toujours pas faite.......faudrait attendre jusqu'à 17h30 voir un peut plus pour cela.... Et juste le lit de fait.... Les déchets de dehors sur la table des précédent client tjrs la...... A croire qu'il était presser !!!!!! Pourtant a 4 personnes à chaque fois !!!! Le soir vers 23h30 concert de piano super !!!!!!! Notre chambre était au RDC.....
Enfin et j'en passe.... Je suis très mécontent de cette établissement vue c'est ses marque de prestations..... Je le recommande pas.

Der Aufenthalt in diesem sehr schönen und gepflegten Hotel war sehr angenehm, Die Lage war für unsere Ausflüge in die Stadt perfekt. Das professionelle Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir können dieses Hotel empfehlen.

Quizás la única decepción ha sido encontrarnos la mayoría de instalaciones del spa cerradas, sería recomendable que el alojamiento emitiese un aviso a los huéspedes, por lo demás, todo estupendo, comida y desayuno maravillosos.

Jamais vu ça !!!

Un grand salon super magnifique qui en met plein la vue mais chambre horrible ….! Il n’y avait pas de fenêtre mais une lucarne !!! On nous a changé de chambre pour une au rez de chaussée avec une terrasse de cailloux et des hauts murs en béton sans vue…( une prison!!)…méfiez vous des photos de l’hôtel!!
J’aurais voulu ajouter des photos mais le système bloque!!!!
Piscine agréable mais pas accessible comme vous voulez…. Faut attendre son heure!!! Et paysage autour affreux !

A única falha do hotel é ter poucos lugares de estacionamento disponíveis. Ou se optar por estacionamento pago ou se estaciona numa zona residêncial perto do hotel.

Estadia agradável, staff 5 estrelas, hotel muito central e com um ambiente óptimo para receber visitas no lobby com bastante espaço e decoração agradável e confortável. Apenas un detalhe, para famílias nos quartos suite: existem escadas interiores.
