Take with a pinch of salt

Accommodation is very dated. Website photos do not reflect the hotel. Many of the properties on the resort are old and dilapidated. Wifi in room was the worst I have experienced in the last 10 years and we was lied to about this. For example you will have Wi-Fi on the sofa but less than three metres away you can’t use Wi-Fi in the bed to make a phone call. It was that bad. It was explained as a blackout across Cape Verde however good internet in bar area and other parts of Sal. Friendly and helpful staff especially Duke and the restaurant and bar staff. Free shuttle to Santa Maria twice a day was useful.

Lovely little stay by the sea

I had a really lovely stay here for 4 nights on a solo trip. Gorgeous location, really handy free shuttle into Santa Maria a couple of times a day and easy to book a (paid) transfer to and from the airport. Food is off a menu for breakfast and dinner (I opted for half board) good quality and large portions. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful.

Absolutely terrible. SCAM hotel ! Arrived at the hotel after a 12 flight and hotel cancelled a non refundable booking on morning of arrival after taking payment 3 months earlier . Reception staff lying about rooms not being available. Left us homeless and stole our money . Worst hotel . Would not recommend to worst enemy

I booked a room here for 4 nights over the Christmas holidays back in September. It was reserved and paid for months in advance. They canceled my room four days before my trip. Thank goodness I booked through a 3rd party and they were able to help me find a place to stay last minute when everything was full.

Hard to review stay as I was suffering from after effects (but clear) of recent Novo contracted in UK as lost 8-9 lbs. So did not due what I expected to do & 1/2 way thru stay started to pick up. Room, staff breakfast very good. Had nice trip to Santa Maria they provide for free. Pool fine but used less than expected as not up to it. Snorkelled in small bay up from reception. Good first 2 days last day churned up so visibility issues. Very nice walks N & S of resort on or near beach which I could not exploit as much as wished. Nice meals in afternoon N of reception. Good Super Mercardo on site S of reception

The staff was BEYOND friendly, but my main grievance is that I had paid extra and arranged for an airport transfer both days before I arrived in CV and before I left CV and they did not comply with either. I paid 45EUR for 2 taxis, both a 7-minute drive from the airport. If I pay for a service, I wish it was available. Also, the wifi on the resort did not work at all the entirety of my stay; and being that the resort is away from the main city/area, it made it very desolate as my phone and none of my other devices had service due to faulty wifi from the resort. Otherwise, the food and drinks were amazing and very fairly priced, and the rooms themselves were nice. The amenities were very nice as well.

I absolutely love this place. It's so peaceful and unpretentious. The staff are really lovely and very helpful. The grounds are beautifully kept and the food is simple but good. A delight to stay here and although only 6 minutes from tne airport there is no noise.

Awful don’t stay here.

First room had mo remote for air conditioning nor TV. Checked a couple other rooms they had problems so took the 3rd room only to find that there’s ants in the bed and the 24 hour number they gave me doesn’t work on WhatsApp so there’s no way to contact the hotel as front desk has limited hours.

Great time but bad service during intial check in

It was a lovely time in Sal. My memory of the vacation would always be tainted by the poor service given by the hotel staff. On arrival at the hotel, they said i only paid for 1 room which i paid for 2 rooms in a single booking. This claim was absurd and i was very angry. I was kept out with my pregnant wife and sister till I reached out to hotels.com and they called the hotel to sort it out. Apparently the person handling the bookings in the hotel moved only one room when i requested my booking be moved due to flight cancellations.

Overall is good.

The hotel is located in a very tranquil area, if you want to rest it is ideal. The views from the restaurant to the sea are pretty amazing. The service is good and they are attentive and the food is good, although they can benefit from offering more variety specially if you are planning to go all inclusive. The rooms are not first line of the private beach and are quite dark but beneifts from a patio area. They are clean but need a bit of attention, the tower rail kept coming off, and there was a cracked tile above the basin, not what I call 4 star hotel. However the rain shower is brilliant. There’s a small shop for extras if you ran out or if you want to make use of the self catering facility. There is also a chill out spot right outside of the hotel where’s you can eat and drink at a reasonable price, very chilled and overlooking the fantastic beach/sea.

My husband and I have travelled the world and I have only given good ratings until this time. The staff was worse than unfriendly. They were cold and uncaring. We were there for a week and could not even get anyone to smile. Even the people we saw everyday would never say hello or offer any kind of greeting when we saw them.

The maid service was erratic and they did not have a do not disturb sign so if you wanted to take a nap you had to call the front desk.

We were warned it was dangerous (bad illnesses) to drink the water but you only got one bottle when you arrived.-- to brush your teeth for the week -- otherwise they would charge you.

They had booklets in the lobby booking tours and the front desk did arrange for one but didn't give us the essential information - to bring a swimsuit to enjoy the salt baths.-- when we complained that they didn't give us the information they told us it wasn't their problem despite the fact that they were advertising these trips in their lobby.

The resort is at the windiest location in this extremely windy island. If they had a few places other than the 6 longues to enjoy a little protection from the wind it would have been nice.

I do have one positive comment. When the taxi we booked for the airport at 10 pm didn't show up they offered us the use of their shuttle which made me happy.

I stayed here for 7 nights with breakfast included. The hot food at breakfast was the same every single day we were here (crepes, bacon, scrambled egg, fried egg) they have two choices of cereals and different types of bread. The only thing they change is the fruit selection and the “dessert” which has been cake (which are always soft and delicious)

There are only two transfers out to Santa Maria (main town) everyday at 10.30am and 2.30pm and then pickup is at 12.30pm and 6.30pm. If you miss it or want to go out/come back outside of these times, then be prepared to pay between €6-8 for a taxi each time.

The staff is really friendly and helpful. The rooms are simple but clean and the shower had a great pressure (our one did anyways)

Not much to do in Sal..however we did go on an island tour which was so much fun!

Murdeira Village was lovely, private and adequate for the price. Really good WIFI but not all facilities in the room were working. For example, i was looking forward to using the hob to make the ocassional hot snack but, the hob wasn't working and there were no pots and pans or cutlery. Taxi's were easy to get wt toughly €10 a trip.

Very quiet resort, if you want to relax and not have any noise this is for you. The pool is huge, salt water, cleaned for hours every day by the staff. And loads of room around it for sunbathing and having space from other guests and apartment owners / holidaymakers,
Only 2 shuttles to Santa Maria if you want to get out but otherwise the so very quiet and relaxing here.
Food is limited and menu the same every 7 days but you come to Cape Verde for the heat not food and have to bear in mind nothing is grown here and everything imported.

Beautiful beach and a relaxing safe, quiet hotel

I loved this place! The hotel was nice and the premises are beautiful. There is an amazing beach and two (adult & kid) pools. The staff are super pleasant and always willing to help with a smile on their face.
I loved the whole island - you can ask Reception to help you with the booking.
Thank you, Murdeira staff and I will always keep Sal and Cape Verde in my heart.

Resort report!

This resort is very quiet and friendly...very handy for the airport and f you are moving on and don’t want to go travel to Santa Maria. There is a nice pool and a restaurant/ snack bar. They do an excellent breakfast which will set you up for the rest of the day. Beware there is very little to do here but if you are looking for relaxing in the sun, this is ideal.

Pleasant hotel but not much to do on the island

The hotel was pleasant and the staff friendly but there was very little to do in the resport unless you had a fortune to spend. Getting into the capital is by taxi only and even in the town (which is the main resort) there were few food or other shops. Much of the main town is being redeveloped so the outskirts look like a building site. There are only two main roads and some dirt tracks covering this volcanic island so not much need to hire a car. However, it is warm and the beaches were pleasant. If you like water sports this one is for you. If you enjoy culture and history, don't bother.

Small hotel close to the beach

If you like peace and quiet this is the hotel for you.
The staff are very helpful and accomodating.
The bedrooms are cleaned daily.
There's a small shop nearby for essential items.
They run a complimentary bus service into Santa Maria 10.30 to 12.30 or 2.30- 6.30 or 10.30-6.30
Here you will find many restaurants and small gift shops plus a lovely sandy beach, good for windsurfing.
It is a very windy island the wind blows constantly between 17 and 26 mph throughout the year apart from
June to September.
The island resembles Mars very rocky and barren, hardly any greenery apart from palm trees.
Not a great deal to see but take a day tour with Blinkeys to see lemon sharks then the salt volcano where you can float in the water. Also the blue eye spectacle.

very clean hotel staff always cleaning.

stayed for 2 weeks. had a really lovely and relaxing stay. staff were amazing. shuttle bus twice a day to santa maria. you need to go all inclusive as there are no café's or restaurants near by and the poor little shop did not have much for sale, but that was ok as you could purchase food to take away in the bar area.
pool was really nice, cold at first but once you got used to the water it was lovely.

Stayed one night as a stop-over between flights. Perfect for this as located just a few minutes from airport. Whilst very clean and welcoming, I wouldn't choose to stay here for more than a few days unless it was purely to rest, as the hotel is isolated. That said, there is a free shuttle twice a day into the main resort of Santa Maria.
Staff are friendly and accommodating and the whole site is kept spotlessly clean. Very reasonably priced and far superior to any of the other hotels I have stayed at previously in Espargos.

Very quite place,close to the airport. For 2 days

By check-in, which was very fast on one site, the lady provided me with information, that there is no free shuttle service to the airport - by the time of booking - was stated thas to the airport there is one. Actually that was one of the reason to mooving for last 2 days from south, Santa Maria, closer to the airport. I was disappointed and was told, there is only shuttle to Santa Maria. In the room, no kettle or coffee maker at all, need to asked for one, and believe me, the lady from the reception was very surprise. In rrom stated amenities thre should be one.
Next day, comming from the beach at Santa Maria, asked the lady at the reception which was on duty, if possible to have a taxi next day as there is no free shuttle to the airport. To my surprise, she answered why, because there is a free shuttle!! And what time I will need it. I was quite confused. However I ordered one. Next day we were waiting for shuttle 25 minutes and if there was not a lady from Renting a Car company, we would probably missed our plane! The guy at the reception was not able to call adequate person/car, to bring us to the airport! Terrible experience. Thans to the lady from the Renting a Car company whose personal car brought us the the airport! Have no more to say.

Large pool with nice poolside bar. Childrens pool too.
Beach side with some smooth rocks to sea, which you could relax on too.
Good size rooms - clean and pleasant.
Decent staff. Wifi costs 5 euros for 24 hours.
Only a one night stay for airport and flight connections but many on longer stays
and enjoying sunbathing and swimming.

Perfect for a stopover

My girlfriend and I stayed at Murdeira for 1 nights stay as a stopover from the UK to our final destination of Sao Vicente. The hotel, a short taxi from the airport, was perfect to relax by the pool (or beach) for the afternoon with a drink from the poolside bar and then an evening meal before our flight the next morning. The room was spacious and clean equipped with air con so made for a good nights sleep. All in all, perfect for what we needed.

Le personnel , la chambre et les équipements (piscines/ service petit déjeuner) ont rendu mon séjour particulièrement agréable. Murdeira Village Resort est un hôtel accessible et de très bonne qualité, le service en réception ou au restaurant est si remarquable et généreux.
Les transferts entre hôtel et centre-ville sont un plus qui a aussi fait la différence.

La chambre est quelconque, à notre arrivée : pas de serviette, pas de savon de douche.
Le coffre ne fonctionne pas, ce qui oblige de se balader avec passeport et argent.
Et le ballon d’eau chaude ne permet pas de couvrir l’ensemble des chambres.
Mais c’est surtout l’absence de service qui pose un problème.
Aucune réponse à un problème ( pour nous c’est le transfert inter île). Ils vous laisse vous débrouiller.
Les gens de l’accueil sont juste bon pour réserver un taxi. Pas plus

Schneller Check in, Service vom Hotel solala ( wirken nicht sehr motiviert). Unterkunft ok, leider der Kühlschrank nicht dicht schließend, Betten gut, Klimanlage auch. Leider gibt es rundum nur eine Strandbude, außer dem Hotelrestaurant, aber es gibt auch einen Minimarkt und gratis Shuttle nach Santa Maria

Mindre hotell med lugnt läge. Låg dock längre från Santa Maria och ”allt annat” än jag räknat med, fanns endast en till restaurang ca 1 km bort. Många aktiviteter erbjöd inte upphämtning från Murdeira vilket innebar taxikostnader om tiden för aktiviteten inte stämde med transferbuss-servicen som hotellet erbjöd. Frukosten var sådär, ganska litet utbud. Perfekt ställe om man endast vill ta det lugnt på semestern. Nära stranden, men hotellet hade inga strandstolar. Ett helt ok hotell, fräscht och rent och ligger vackert beläget med fina solnedgångar.

J'avis lu beaucoup d'avis négatifs sur MURDEIRA VILLAGE, mais j'ai été ravie de mon séjour.
Certes si l'établissement est un peu vieillissant, cela est largement compensé par le site, le calme, la gentillesse du personnel, l'offre restauration notamment les petits déjeuners pris face à la mer!
Le rapport qualité prix est topissime!

Helt ok boende om man vill bo lugnt utanför Santa Maria. Servicen var ok men inget att skryta med. Toan på rummet läckte vatten, dom försökte fixa men de gick sådär. Rent i övrigt. Poolen var iskall ej uppvärmd, vi var där över jul & nyår. Kan rekommendera endast beroende av priser, gratis shuttle till stan men taxi kostade 15 euro ca.

Mon séjour à Murdeira Village

Arrivée en avance et chambre prête à 12h au lieu de 16h très bon point. Concernant la propreté de la chambre, lit fait au carré mais présence de fourmis dans le logement lit, baignoire tout le long du séjour soit 7 jours. Baignoire avec une présence de rouille, pas d’eau chaude après 19h, installation électrique vétuste.
Logement grand avec une petite terrasse et vue mer dans mon cas. Prenez la demie pension ou pension complète sera plus économique car les plats sont aussi cher qu’en France.
Piscine à disposition, bar, petite plage, restaurant, navette gratuite deux fois par jour pour se rendre à Santa Maria.

Das Hotel müßte mal komplett renoviert werden. Die liegen am Pool und Strand sehen aus wie selbst zusammen genagelt.

Hotel staat in een rustig dorpje, dus heerlijk om tot rust te komen. Elke dag rijd er een shuttlebus naar santa maria, zodat je ook nog wat van het eiland kan zien.
Vriendelijk personeel en lekker eten! Top vakantie gehad!

L’établissement était horriblement miteux. A peine arrivé dans la chambre, une odeur de renfermé et de cigarettes nous on envahit. L’état des draps était piteux ! Plein de bouloche et de taches suspectes. Notamment les oreillers qui etait literalement orange de saleté et d’usure. Le frigo était très sale et l’état de propreté de la chambre était affligeant. Nous n’avons même pas osé dormir sur les draps, nous avons passé une nuit blanche. Honnêtement on est très loin d’un 4 étoiles. Nous avons quitté l’établissement à l’aube.

Goed verblijf gehad.

Hotel appartementen zijn netjes maar enigszins gedateerd. 5 jaar geleden waren en nog de kunststof Hartmann ligbedden maar die waren nu helaas verdwenen. Hier kon men niet meer aan strandje liggen (of op je handdoek) en bij zwembad alleen ongemakkelijke houten ligbedden. Dit daar ook met eigenaresse besproken en ze zijn na de Corona periode alles weer aan het oppakken. Dagelijks wel Pendelbus naar strand van Santa Maria.
Hadden alleen ontbijt geboekt en regelmatig diner in restaurant genuttigd. Eten is goed en personeel heel vriendelijk.

La struttura è molto calma e tranquilla a pochi minuti sia dall aeroporto che dal centro di santa maria ma la pulizia è molto carente: insetti in stanza, vasca piena di calcare e ruggine e cuscini con aloni.

Wunderschöne Anlage, in der sich auch (aber nicht nur) unsere Kinder super austoben konnten. Absolut entspannte Stimmung und sehr freundliches Personal. Würde das Hotel definitiv weiterempfehlen!

The village was clean, the staff was very kind, and there's a free taxi from the hotel to go in the downtown which it takes 12 minutes.
In front of the village there's a beach, very good for children's because it's fenced as an Harbour so no waves at all and make it safe for them.
The breakfast was great with table indoor and outdoor on front of the sea.
Great village!!!

déçu...faut pas grand chose que que ce soit bien!

le plus regrettable est la configuration de l’hôtel qui n'en est pas un...quelques chambres et logements éparsés par ci par là...il faut 600m pour aller de la réception de l'hôtel pour aller à notre chambre en traversant...le village! configuration très atypique! les photos sur le site sont un peu trompeuse! en s'attend à un complexe pied dans l'eau avec resto terrasse piscine et logement groupé! ors tout est séparé, la piscine pas chauffée et trés froide! personne dedans, secteur extrêmement venté donc on ne peut pas nagé ni se baigné et la restauration est médiocre malgré un personnel adorable qui est démuni et à qui on ne peut en vouloir tellement ils sont adorables...dommage, trés deçu par un ensemble général à revoir...

La struttura è carina, la cucina non male, i collegamenti con Santa Maria funzionali, il personale purtroppo non è stato all'altezza e sicuramente non cordiale: ho avuto un problema con la camera, prontamente avvisato la reception ma senza esito per due giorni. Poi, grazie all'intervento del servizio clienti Hotels.com, tutto si è risolto ma l'atteggiamento della direttrice non è stato affatto conciliante. Peccato, se non ci fosse stato questo problema, mi avrebbe quasi convinto.... Non si può \"rinfacciare\" a un cliente di aver speso poco (quanto proposto da Hotels.com ed evidentemente quanto richiesto dalla struttura) per cui non avrebbe diritto di reclamare!

Ungt ektepar på tur.

Hotellet lå veldig for seg selv. Slitt og gammelt. Mye vind hver dag og store bølger på stranden. Hunder og katter går fritt rundt, også i spiseområdet, flere ubehagelige opplevelser med dette.

Maur på rommet og det tror jeg var på resten av romma. Et 4-stjernes hotell bør ha mere på stell enn dette. To glass og to kaffekopper, inget servise/ bestikk. Håndklær ved servant b!e skiftet en gang på 12 dager.
Ellers ble jeg matforgiftet etter 4 dager og var sengeliggende med feber og diare fram til avreisedagen. Kona ble også sjuk med diare på avreisedagen og har det fortsatt.
