The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, but the rooms are low quality. Very old decor with bits of the wall & ceiling filled in with filler. The air conditioning didn't work. There were exposed wires. Rusty handles. Bathroom shower water temperature was irregular. Bedsheets were old, unironed and they weren't changed regularly. Swimming pool isn't cleaned and hotel guests rarely go in the pool. We had to sometimes ask for towels.

The manager says the rooms are fully booked and say they can change the next day, but it didn't happen. This was the same opinion of another guest.

Hotel staff are generally nice. The breakfast is decent. The dinner is also good. The hotel food overall is good quality.

Santa Maria is around 15 mins walk from the hotel. The road to the hotel is sandy. The environment around the hotel is like a building site. Santa Maria beach is 20-25 minutes walk.

Overall, the hotel is ok. The rooms were clean. The food was average. The coffee was bad. The front desk staff were good. The cabanas were good. The pool is good, but closes early. The hotel has no beach. All the activity, including beach, restaurants and shops are in the centre of Santa Maria, about a 20 minute walk. But biggest problem for me was that for every purchase at the restaurant or bar I have to pay each time, with cash or credit card. I would be happy to prepay or pay for the charges at the end of my stay.

The staff were always happy and willing to help. In particular the staff in the restaurant were so helpful and worked very hard to ensure the best experience possible.
The hotel is out of the way which is nice if you like the peace and quiet however if you want to walk into the town and to the beaches then it is about a 10 minute walk.
No issues with the breakfast which had been noted on some reviews and the half board menu was not as bad either.

Lovely resort hotel away from the crowd. Clean room, very hot water (be careful!), and comfortable bed. Easy access to the beach, but no sun loungers on the beach, just access. Lovely lounger set up around the (unheated) pool. Tasty breakfast and lunch options, but expensive (breakfast is included). Very nice reception staff and polite and responsive dining staff. Overall a tranquil oasis for relaxing.

Fint hotell om man, som vi, inte är så fortjusta i de där stora hotellkomplexen. Hotellet har 37 rum och ligger ungefär 15 min promenad från centrala Santa Maria. Vill man ta taxi kostar det 5 euro. Helt ok frukost och maten i hotellets restaurang var alltid god och vällagad. Ibland fick man vänta ganska länge på sin beställning och det blev vid några tillfällen lite fel och missförtånd.
När vi anlände till hotellet fick vi besked om att det var överbokat och rummet vi bokat och betalt för fanns inte tillgängligt. Vi bodde de första två nätterna i ett rum som var helt ok, men som sagt inte alls vad vi tänkt (havsutsikt och terass). De sista fem nätterna blev vi dock uppgraderade till en av hotellets fantastiskt fina sviter. Så vi var mycket nöjda med hotellets sätt att lösa problemet.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I only had one issue during my stay and a couple of suggestions. First, the shower in my room never worked properly, I put in a service request to have the shower fixed, and even after it was serviced, it never worked correctly. So there was never an opportunity to take a hot proper shower. Also the pool closes at 1800 every day which is a bit inconvenient being in a tropical area. The breakfast each morning was good, However, breakfast is only served from 8 AM to 10 AM. I wish they could add about a half an hour at the beginning and the end for more time especially considering some days you may want to get going early for tours and other days you might want to sleep in a bit. However, all of that being said, I enjoyed my stay and definitely would consider staying there again as the overall feel of the place is nice and the staff is very helpful.

We had an incredible 12-day stay at Hotel Buddha beach in Cape Verde! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and outstanding service. The hotel was impeccably clean, with our room being tidied up perfectly every day. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, always friendly and accommodating to our needs.

The location was perfect, offering beautiful views and easy access to local attractions. The amenities were top-notch, and the food was delicious with a variety of options to suit all tastes. The pool area was well-maintained, providing a relaxing atmosphere to unwind.

very nice place, a little disappointed in the room

this is a very nice quiet hotel, but there are a few things useful to know.....avoid room one which has no aircon working and is a bit dark.
most rooms don't have a sea view and the road is a bit dirty.
book well in advance as they get busy.

the restaurant is great and the staff are very attentive at all times.

Beautiful setting. Huge spacious room with brilliant ocean view. Comfortable bed. All plumbing works consistently well. Great location with lovely walk into town.
Gripe: many ‘rules’ and rather unfriendly staff largely detract from notion of hospitality. Breakfast food often ran low, selection somewhat uninteresting.

Quiet and comfortable hotel

Comfortable hotel at the opposite end of Santa Maria to the big resorts, by the windsurfing beach and 10 mins walk to the centre of town (don't let that put you off as well lit and safe).

Room was big. Hotel and room kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast choice is ok but might become boring if there longer than a week, evening meal we tried was delicious (and always some live music in the evening which is nice). Pool was pretty cold at the end of Feb but didnt stop me from having a daily dip. Great cocktails poolside!

Staff we're clearly getting ready for summer repainting and deep cleaning every part of the hotel over the week we were there. They really work hard to keep it in good appearance.

\"Budha\" is a right name for the hotel , its a very quiet nice place , a bit away from big beaches and town crowds but within walking distance from all the \"life\", so we enjoyed a lot the calm chilling afternoon near the pool after busy days . People in the hotel are very nice , the manager Armanda was the top, she always was welcoming, warm and helpful whenever we needed. Loved the place and recommend.

Fine hotel with great staff.

We stayed in a suite which I measured to be about 15x5.5 meters. Simply huge. The breakfast was great and the staff in the restaurant was just so friendly and kind. At the reception we had the pleasure to talk with all the people on duty. Great people. Special thanks to Armanda for her unique way to interact with the guests.
If you’re considering this hotel, don't let the 800 meters to the center of Santa Maria keep you from booking it. The distance is easily walked or a taxi can pick you up or take you for 2-3 euros.
The small beach behind the hotel has a lot of rocks, but the one 200 meters away by the fitness equipment is great.
All in all a great experience and I highly recommend this hotel.

Loved Budha Hotel. The room and bathroom was clean and spacious! Melanie and Amanda really went beyond and above to accommodate us. The breakfast was made to order and delicious! We were a 15 minute walk to beaches, shops and restaurants. They had plenty of pool lounge chairs and beds. They even helped us book a last minute excursion!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sal.

Amazing hotel, food and location. Located at the quiet end of the hotel strip with a beautiful pool, clean cabanas, and on the beach. Also only a 5 minute walk to all of the other restaurants, shops and bars in town. Although, we found the food at the hotel to be even better than that of the other restaurants, and at the same price. We also opted for the late checkout for the midnight flight back to Lisbon.

The hotel and surrounding area was immaculate. Safe and sound with just a 10 minute walk into town. I’d walk late at night and never felt danger. More importantly there was always security there to greet me when I returned. The food was good and the staff was sweet!

Beautiful restful stay with no children at the hotel which made it very peaceful and relaxing.... staff were amazing and food was really good and presentation was excellent. Ideal spot for my partner who kitesurfs as only 10 min ride to kite beach by taxi (10 Euros return). Ten min walk to centre of town.

I booked a room with a Sea View but did not get a room facing the sea. Instead it was facing a fairly run down street. I was also messaged a day before my stay telling me that they could not offer me a room even though I already paid for it which really panicked me.

Brilliant Buddha Beach

Our stay at The Buddha Beach made the holiday in Santa Maria for us. Our welcome set the tone, and the staff in all other hotel departments from restaurant to cleaning and maintenance were a credit to themselves. This small resort oozes quality with staff who are obviously proud to be working there and clearly want to make your visit one to remember. The views from our room, which was very comfortable, were magnificent, If we return to Sante Maria, Buddha Beach will be our first choice for our stay.

What a lovely place! I just came back from a solo trip to relax, and relax I did. Santa Maria can be a bit busy at times and many of the other Hotels are in the midst of that. Hotel Budha Beech is only short walking distance away but many more in terms of how peaceful it is!

The whole team made my experience amazing: the fastidious cleaning, the amazing food, the fantastic staff, the comfortable room (with an enormous bed), very chilled pool area, and the tranquil surroundings, really top marks all round!

Would love to return sometime!

We had a fantastic week here in February, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, the food was excellent and facilities were fine. Room was very nice, spacious, big comfortable bed, lovely shower room. We spent time by the pool, in the restaurant and on the terraces, just a lovely place to be, lazing around enjoying being next to the sea watching the windsurfers.
The location is on the edge of Santa Maria, so it's a ten minute walk into centre of town, though the nearest shop and restaurant are closer. Taxi is cheap, 2 euro if you don't fancy the walk. We had bead and breakfast at the hotel so enjoyed going into town to try different restaurants. We ate at the hotel as well, really nice food and different to most of what is on offer in Santa Maria. A bit more expensive than some places but worth it.
It was a perfect holiday for us, but I think some people might find it different to bigger more developed resorts in Spain, Greece etc. The staff don't all speak much English, so anything complicated can take a while to communicate. they are helpful though so it's never a bother and will find someone with better English if needed. There is not a lot in Sal in terms of tourist attractions and things may seem a bit rough around the edges compared to more developed resorts. but the people are authentic, and I loved the musicians, guitar based Portuguese songs with Brazilian and Caribbean influences, plus African drummers down on the beach.

Great place to stay if you need to relax !

My wife and I stayed here for 2 weeks and overall we enjoyed the experience. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the main town, which suited us as we wanted to get some exercise. The beach immediately next to the hotel is not suitable for swimming and the area surrounding the hotel is quite barren but very safe and ideal for walking.

Great stay at boutique hotel

Really enjoyed staying here and for what we wanted it was probably the best pick. At the other end of santa maria, its away from the big loud all inclusive resorts and has only 20-30 guests. Quiet, relaxing and clean, it was great for young couples or small group of friends. The resort isn't quite complete, they are still missing some lounge cushions and in some corners appears unfinished but otherwise looks new and clean. Beach is rocky but a 5 minute walk to sandy parts. Pool is great

Food was fantastic (not cheap but no where is in sal), particularly the seafood sushi/tempura and croquettes, and cocktails were good.

Air con was a godsend and the beds were huge and very comfortable. Bathrooms were lovely and rooms were cleaned daily.

Beautiful quiet hotel

We enjoyed it very much!!! The location is quiet and most relaxing. The pool is lovely and we preferred not to be at the main beach. We rather walk the 10 minutes and enjoy the calming atmosphere of the hotel. The staff is so lovely and helpful.
The food is amazing but the restaurant a bit 'clinical', very bright and a bit cold atmosphere.
We definitely would love to come back!!!

When we got to the hotel they told us it was over booked but they would put us up in a sister hotel even though we had paid up front. Well it must av been the ugly sister hotel. It was more like a hostel no facilities no food, a noisy taxi rank out side and dogs barking all night. We never got a winks sleep and left the 1st thing next morning and found a really nice hotel away from that rough area .

La prise en charge des bagages à l’arrivée est insuffisante (pas de bagagiste, absence d’aide pour porter les bagages).
L’horaire du Check-in qui n’est pas respecté : à 15h, il faut que la chambre soit prête.
Le lit 1 place qui est compris dans la réservation doit être un véritable lit adulte 1 place et non pas un lit d’enfant.

Wir hatten eine Suite gebucht, welche sehr gross und einen grosszügigen Balkon hat. Das Zimmer war bei der Übernahme jedoch schmutzig. Der Zimmerboden war eklig. Auch nach dem Beanstanden an der Reception wurde nichts unternommen. Die Toilette hat immer nach Kanalisation geriecht und duschen konnte ich in 4 Tagen nur einmal warm..
Im Allgemeinen ist das Hotel etwas in die Jahre gekommen und sollte dringen renoviert werden

Das Frühstück war sensationell umfangreich und das Personal sowohl unaufdringlich als auch sehr freundlich. Die direkte Umgebung ist zwar nicht so umwerfend ( unbefestigte Straße, quasi kein Zugang zum Meer ), aber nach 15 Minuten Fußweg ist man mitten in der Stadt.

The hotel is located quite far away from the center of Santa Maria. As such, it is very quiet and the only noise you can hear in the night is the waves’ one.
The staff is very kind and professional.
Few cons: no buffet breakfast, no conditioner in the showers and the street to get there is not ideal.

Les chambres sont jolies et la piscine magnifique.

Virkelig dejligt hotel med super beliggenhed tilpas langt fra travlheden i centrum, men alligevel kun 10-minutters gang derfra. Hotelpersonalet var utrolig venligt og servicen altid i top. Smuk belligenhed, lækker pool - tre minutter fra en dykkerskole og med perfekte loungestole til at sole sig. Med andre ord, alt til enhver smag - alt sammen til meget rimelig pris. :-)

Wir waren eine Woche da und der Aufenthalt hat uns sehr gefallen. Es war sauber, das Personal freundlich und sehr hilfreich. Wir sind wegen Corona ein paar Tage früher abgeflogen und hatten deswegen keine zusätzlichen Kosten. Sehr kulant und hilfsbereit. Wir würden jederzeit wieder buchen.
