I stayed at Hollies Halifax for 5 days. We arrived late the first day (Wednesday) and was told AC broken for the hotel. We stayed on the 9th floor ... flat roof with a day temperature of 30C. A hot stuffy room was our welcome! No windows at all. We requested a fan,. the fan was very loud with a broken nob that we cannot adjust. We had no choice but utilize the fan for air, but the fan was so noisy we cannot hear the TV. AC was restored on Friday! Aside from the fan issues, we like the location ... step away from the waterfront.

The Cannery had an excellent breakfast, happy hour and dinner menu and with great staff attention.
I enjoyed the pool almost every day.
The suite was perfect and as advertised.

The staff provided a standing, oscillating fan for a couple of unexpectedly hot days where the sun heated up the windows and therefore the room. So minor problem solved quickly and efficiently.

Awesome hotel in a great location, amenities were certainly adequate for what is required when on vacation, but what really makes the place special are the staff, front desk staff were great without exception, the most welcoming I’ve had at any hotel and we’ve seen a lot, special mention to Calum in the bar/restaurant who spent several nights with us chatting and keeping us entertained, but every single member of staff was excellent! Highest compliment I can say is 110% we’ll be back! Fabulous job by a fabulous hotel

The AC was broken in the entire hotel - none of the windows open - the room was so awfully hot that we did our best to stay out of it. Sleep was awful due to temperature. Looked forward to the hot tub after a long day of activity - the building was just much too hot for this to be enjoyable. The bathroom floor had a fine dust all over it like baby powder or drywall dust. The staff were very kind and did their best by bringing two small fans to our room.

I went shopping and left my items in the room. The next day one of my shopping bags was missing. I am not making the accusation that it was stolen by the staff, but it could have been thrown away flag the staff accidentally.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was larger than expected. Room was clean, but there was some paint scraped off the bathroom door and what looked like a water stain on the ceiling in one corner. Some thing's were dated and the paint could he touched up in a few places. Ultimately still definitely more than worth what I paid.

One of the female front desk staff was short and made me feel very embarrassed.i think she was if Eastern European decent . Possibly Ukrainian . She processed the wrong credit card for payment without asking me and it was denied. Which I knew it would be because I only have a $500 limit on that card for the purpose of being wrongly charged. It was only to hold the room. Her entire face and attitude changed like I was some kind of criminal. I gave her another card I actually wanted it on for points purposes and it was fine . But her glare and stone face was ridiculous.

This hotel checked all the boxes for what we were hoping would be a fun weekend away as a family of four. We booked the king suite, which was a great setup with a pull-out couch in the main area. After checking in, we enjoyed the pool. Later that evening we noticed the room was quite warm so we turned down the thermostat. By the kids’ bedtime, it had become noticeably hotter, and we lowered it all the way to 15°C. Despite this, the room remained unbearably hot throughout the night. Our kids ended up sleeping on the pull-out couch in nothing but their underwear with flushed faces, clearly uncomfortable. I’m 7 months pregnant and already struggle with sleep, so the excessive heat and dryness in the room made for a very difficult night (including dealing with a bloody nose). In the morning, I brought the issue to the front desk and was told I was the second guest to report the same problem. I was informed the hotel operates on central air, so there wasn’t much that could be done, aside from offering fans or switching rooms. We decided to wait for maintenance to assess the situation before moving. Later, we were told the issue had been resolved, so we stayed in the same room. What was most disappointing was how this situation was handled. Despite a very uncomfortable first night and known issue with the room no effort was made to offer any form of compensation or discount. For what could have been a great stay, this left a lasting negative impression.

Did not have breakfast however hotel staff is amazing. Hotel is great. There were kids in the hallway and we didn't hear them until out of our room. Please don't believe Expedia when they say there is ONSITE parking or Airport shuttle for this hotel as there is not. The valet parking was totally worth it.

Room (709) was clean and nice. But there was something wrong with the heat / heating controls. We got into the room and it was very hot. Turned it down to 15 from 21 (one would assume this would be cold). The room did not cool down at all. We got back after a late supper (9/10) and the room was still on 21 degrees despite being turned down to 15. This make it difficult to sleep as we were waking up from being way too hot (our face were flushed red). It felt like being in a sauna.

Hot tub was not hot at all, the rainfall shower head in our room was not attatched to the ceiling, it was dangling from an open hole. The fridge has no temperature settings, all of our drinks froze solid.Expedia says this hotel has parking on site for a fee, there is no parking at all at this hotel. We had to park down the road in a parking garage. The free wifi is not actually free unless you sign up for a hilton rewards account which i felt was completely unnecessary. Staff were not very friendly.

The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was tasty and “a la carte” which was a nice change from the typical buffet found in most places. The gym was well equipped and clean but slightly on the small size if you need room for stretching or other floor routines. Some of the infrastructure is a bit dated and requiring upkeep. At times I was happy to have ear plugs as the area gets lively when some local bars let out. Overall a good place and good value.

Coffee machine in room outdated and old. Hot tub lacked water and the jets are not strong. Pool was nice. Steve at front desk was amazing. My personal opinion:
The staff was very friendly and welcoming at Holis hotel, with fresh warm chocolate chip cookies upon arrival. And the foyer area is clean and classy looking.
The room layout is really cool, the bed and couch was very comfortable. The windows aren’t the best at keeping the cold winter draft out, which I imagine is why they have very thick curtains to help with that. Also the wall under the window in my room was peeling away from what looked like water damage.
The bathroom is spacious and clean with a great shower, rainfall shower head and can easily fit 2 people without feeling crowded.
You can hear the noise from the street as if you were sitting outside but , it is a downtown hotel.
The pool was really dirty despite not being busy, I got out within a few minutes of being in the water. I did not go in the hot after that experience.
No parking on site but there is a large parking garage about 300 feet so not far at all. Or you could pay 35$ for valet parking.
No continental breakfast was a bit of let down but they do have free coffee. For a downtown hotel it was priced a bit cheaper than most other places. So if you’re looking to save a few bucks and not planning on swimming or getting complementary breakfast items then maybe this is an OK place to consider. It is very easy to get to a large variety of great restaurants and casino, all walking distance within 15 minutes. And the waterfront is very close as well

From the warm free cookies upon our arrival, to the t.v.’s with your name in them as a welcome to your room… a couple free bottles of water and the friendly staff make this great location a must consider in your next stay in Halifax.

Highly disappointed in the poor service with housekeeping especially paying the price to stay in a suite. I’ve done more cleaning than an employee has.

Pool is usually warm and nice expect one night, hot tub is nice too but not large enough to fit multiple people as you’d expect in a higher class hotel.

Breakfast options are limited, kids menu just is terrible (my son won’t eat a thing), usually under or overcooked.

Front desk staff are AMAZING however and cannot speak highly enough about them!

We had a nice stay. Perhaps because it was Boxing Day, the bar area didn't seem to be open, which gave the public area downstairs a bit of a desolate feel. However, our room was nice, and we were greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies! I will say the pool and hot tub are in need of repairs, at least, and probably a full renovation. But my kid didn't mind.

There was an issue with the water, from all taps it smelled/tasted like fish tank water.
Im not sure if ot was a known issue or if something may have rotted in the pipes.
It was unfortunate.
Otherwise the bed and bedding was comfortable. Products from Crabtree and Evelyn wonderful.

The hotel restaurant was very nice and had an incredible selection for breakfast which was included with our room. The hotel is conveniently located and within walking distance of all the sites.
