This was the right kind of place for us. It's not a 5 star experience, but the place has everything we needed, and the location was excellent for walking to town. While the outside looks a little dated, everything inside was clean and in good shape. We especially liked the tub (indoor jacuzzi tub) and the mini kitchen which allowed us to make our own breakfast and lunch for a day out exploring in Milford Sounds. The bed was also comfortable with nice linens/towels, etc.

All was good. The woman at the desk was very helpful. There is a coin laundry room at the motel we did laundry. And a gas BBQ we wheeled over to the front of our unit to cook dinner. Everything was modern and in working order. Our unit was all one room with a useful kitchenette and supplies. Too cold to try the little patio out back but the spa was nice. Had to check out early the next morning to catch the boat cruise and guided walk adventure.

Hosts were so welcome and friendly and helpful with recommendations! I loved receiving the welcoming bottle of milk!! Room and bathroom were giant, perfectly clean, huge front window sliding glass door letting in the great NZ sunshine. Motel sits one block away from lake with easy 5 minute walking access. I highly recommend for the traveler on the go.

The kitchen was poorly equipped, e.g. no frying pan, strainer, bowls, sharp knife, or wooden spoon. The place was very spacious and clean. I found the bed comfy. TV with Netflix. The property is cost effective, and the manager Stephanie was excellent to deal with. The rooms are average but are cost effective. But I really enjoyed the warm floor in the bathroom, and the spa bath. They have a little kitchenette with the necessary pots and pans etc to cook a nice breakfast. The outside tub is just the greatest. It is timber and heated by an attached fireplace. There was nothing like going for a long walk and then coming back to sit in the hot tub. Rain, hail or shine the hot tub was the greatest. Just the right size for two to be cozy.
Special mention to the owner Nigel who also runs a Tesla trip for 1-3 people to the Milford Sounds. Very exclusive trip and it sure beats joining a bus trip. You must buy the picnic hamper. The hamper is 2nd to none and includes high quality picnic, tasty items.

We at no time were concerned about our security/safety but if you have concerns (such as traveling alone) just be aware that some of the windows would need to be kept closed/locked.

I want to mention that Expedia let me book this property after this properties business hours. I left a voicemail for them and surprisingly the owner called me back. He was out of town but very kind and understanding. He asked an employee if they could come by and let me in. She was also very kind and did not seem put out by this at all. That experience alone would gain a 5 star review from me but I loved the room on top of that. The bed was extremely comfortable, really nice bathroom and very large room. I would highly recommend this property to anyone in the area. Also a huge thank you again to them !!! Your kindness made my holiday ! 🙏😊
