Our room had the quietest door between ensuite and bedroom that I have ever encountered. It was great as I am a night riser.
They kindly made up our room each day, but without making the beds.
It was great being within walking distance of eateries/town.

Motel is well situated for lake view, and fairly priced in comparison to neighbouring properties. Spa bath was a welcome addition for weary muscles. Ammenities adequate with plenty of kitchen utensils. However layout made cooking and dish-washing tricky. No kitchen table indoor or outdoor so had to use coffee table. While spacious, this aging property is overdue for a refresh.
While our information sheet said the units were serviced daily, ours was not, even though we displayed the housekeeping sign - which made our return after a long day not as relaxing as we would have expected.
The office person was friendly when we arrived.

The property was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. There was no staff for check-in apparently due to a NZ wide staff shortage. A written note was left for me about changing the method of payment but no one responded via the Expedia messaging app. A staff member did show up in the evening eventually just to process the payment.

Beds were of the old style springs, not comfortable for two with regards to partner disturbance, lucky there was a single bed in the room too, otherwise we both would have had minimal sleep. The rooms were very clean tidy and looked like had a recent refurbish, comfortable arm chairs in the mini seating area. There was a portable induction cooktop supplied to use on the bench, but there was not enough ventilation for cooking anything, there was a standard bathroom type extraction fan in the ceiling but it was in no way strong or sufficient enough to get rid of cooking smells, we only cooked once due to this. Surely a proper cooking extractor fan over the cooking area would be a requirement? The air conditioner was great kept our rooms nicely cool at night and warmed us well when needed in the morning. Friendly cleaning staff.

It is time for a remodel. A bit of black mold in the shower, beatup carpet and linoleum, and peeling paint on the banister all tell the story. Location, view, and only staff person we saw (cleaner) were lovely.

Accommodation was ok and functional but somewhat tired. Had a 2 bedded apartment with outside sitting area and a distant view of the lake. Perfectly adequate for just the two of us but of course put up the price. There were laundry facilities but we did not use them. Couple of hot plate rings and a microwave allowed for some simple cooking.

Location was perfect! Walkable distance to most things. Very spacious and plenty of room to sleep a big family. No locks on toilet or bathroom, but we stayed with our little family so wasn’t that big of a deal. Easy check in and check out. Would definitely stay here again.

We've been staying here for 4 years now and although the rooms are still good, the facilities are dwindling, ie. No nice chairs in garden area, cannot connect to Netflix, only basic satellite tv. Rooms are not serviced at weekends.
Also, price has jump NZ$100 in 2 years.

Stayed here a few times and this room ( superior / upgraded rooms) was a lot fresher than the Standard one. Te anau is a very seasonal place and so the premium prices in peak hiking season may seem off comparing against property elsewhere. Great thing that it has a nice bed ( I like medium firm), shower, and the location is perfect for a lakefront stroll.

Unfortunately the last few nights stayed there had been not reception team on deck but a friendly message that they’re short staffed. I understand, but I hope you find a team one day soon.

It seems the hotel bought the house next door to rent as a “villa.” It’s a nice place to spread out, especially for two. Washer was especially welcome. It need a few fix-it’s to make it better, but I’d stay here again.

Room was fine, if a little small but was adequate. There was no service at all from the front desk. The laundry facilities for guests appeared to be used for sheets and towels, ie for motel staff to use for their purposes which struck us as odd. There were no outside shared spaces, bbq, etc. We found a small on the grass across the driveway. The motel had EV chargers but only for staff use.

Overall decent basic accommodations. The one thing that wasn't great is that the bathroom was in the bedroom, so when the people sleeping out in living room need the bathroom. They had to go through the bedroom. They are a little short-handed so some of the procedures are a little less formal than they usually are. They left an envelope with my name and room number on the office door because it wasn't manned.

There are many good things to say about this property. Sadly the internet and tv are not among them. We had no internet for most of our stay. The few tv channels are at best abysmal. Parking can be tricky if the motel is full. We had a one bedroom unit which we really liked. It had a very nice modern bathroom with a large walk in shower. The kitchen although smallish was well kitted out. Also a comfortable sitting area including chairs outside the unit. Not much of a view of the lake but we were steps away from the lake which had a terrific esplanade that went for miles. It was an easy walk into town for shopping. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Lots of fresh towels if needed. The bed was comfortable and the electric blanket was an added bonus for a comfortable sleep. We liked our stay in spite of the other nuisance stuff which shouldn’t be. This is the age of technology and crappy internet and tv is no longer the norm or acceptable.

We stayed one night at the Edgewater Motel on our way to visit Milford Sound in March 2024. At the time we were at the hotel, we saw no one in reception. An envelope taped to the door of the office explained how to find the key. (We had prepaid an internet booking.) However, we got into our rooms and were quite pleased.

Our unit appeared to have been very recently update. Although the basic layout is a little odd--the only door is a sliding glass door that opens onto the parking lot/driveway.

Very nice decor. Loved the chic bathroom. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchenette was wonderful, although it lacked a stovetop. There was, however, an electric fry pan, which we used to prepare breakfast.

The location is great--close to the center of town and right on the lake, as the name suggests.

No staff on site when we checked in but they had made arrangements for us to get into our room. Luckily we had no issues that required help from staff. The one thing that should be addressed is a plumbing issue that creates a bad smell in the room (the kitchenette sink did not have a p-trap so smells from the pipes were escaping into the room when the drain stopper was removed.

I reminded Hotels.com so many times that Edgewater didn’t fulfil the stay.

They cancelled our booking with the reason that the villa wasn’t in a good state.

Then we were transferred twice abd ended up in lakeview, which in my opinion was a downgrade

I had been asking hotels.com for a cost delta

As for Value for money - I think it was fair.

Motel room had been recently painted so looked presentable.

Underneath it is still an old Motel, and has not been modernised.

No Mixer Taps, old Style Metal Kiwi shower box etc

We moved the Heater in the bedroom and much Fluff and Dust underneath - so cleaners need to do a better job!!

It was SO Quiet at night - Awesome.

Very convenient to get to Milford Sound Crusies.

Also situated right next to Lake Te Anau and 2 minute drive to Town Centre

We ate at The Ranch in town and although a little expensive, portions were massive and expertly cooked.

If back in the area we would stay here again.
