Mostly clean, but areas of dirt on the bedroom floor and bathroom seemed a bit aged.

Room also got really warm, heating was on the whole time.

Restaurant was closed, so reception advised I order takeout instead maybe suggesting some nice nearby restaurants…

It was okay, but wouldn’t say again.

Great stay at this hotel but there are a few things that could definitely be better. First of all the room and view were lively, it was very clean and the view was amazing. Had dinner at the hotel and unfortunately the food was not very good at all from olives from a jar to a very over cooked burger and undercooked scampi.on the last day we received a note under the door offering a reduced rate to extend the stay if we contacted reception. We called down and the night porter answered and informed us he could not do it and we would need to come down and speak to reception at 8am in the morning. We did not manage this so decided to check outand when we go to reception we were told the stay had been extended that was disapointing. a note could of been put under the door to tell us then we could of stayed. overall a great hotel they just need to train there staff a bit better.

The staff are what makes this place great. All very helpful and friendly. Hotel and room is tired, but the xmas effort made it feel very sparkly and christmassy!
Breakfast delicous.
Wasn’t sure why no toiletries on offer, this is very unusual for a hotel in this price bracket. Only stayed 1 night so not too challenging.

Room was good with a great ocean view. The staff were very kind, the room was spacious, and the heating worked well, so overall I had a comfortable stay and I would recommend this hotel for the ocean view. However, there were some water-stain marks on the ceiling (not an active leak, just old marks), and the hotel does feel a bit dated. Breakfast was not very impressive.

All the staff were friendly and super helpful. The resident pianist Alan was just fab. He was not only good but made you feel very welcome and spoke personally and passionately about the songs he was playing and gave some history behind them. He played all types of music and even asked the type of music we liked etc so he could play some for us. It was a pleasure to sit and listen to him. Our room was large and very comfortable and having the balcony that wrapped around made the views even better. They could do with a bit of TLC but not so much that it took away how nice they were. We are already planning to revisit but for a little longer as we were only on a stop over before travelling down to Kent. The staff really are an asset.

The 5 stars were missing. It’s actually a 3 star rather than 5 hotel. It was a blend hotel; & room with no soul although spacious and with sea views. The stairs and room carpet was dirty, the bed was rock hard which gave us serous back pain and we had to take painkillers to recover from it. The breakfast was cold and lack quality

Room and view fabulous but dining experience in the evening leaves a lot to be desired. Slow service, awful wine glasses, soup much too thick, low on choice and where I was expecting a nice piano to give background some ambiance, it was loud, in your face and man talking about music to us, just kept talking through the whole meal, not giving us a chance to speak to each other. He was talented though, but another pianist took over for a short time, and he was the perfect blend.
Value for money quite poor.

I wanted a hotel with a balcony that was the whole reason but was disappointed with what the balcony looked like wasnt easy it was an obstacle to get to such a high step inside the room and out needed two steps added in/out to make it easier was a total letdown also the table on balcony was dirty.
Got the occasional visit from the seagull.
The lift was a novelty love a part of history.
Staff were friendly and helpful thankyou to one of the staff who took our photo sitting in the lift just had to get that photo lol.
Had a welcome glass of wine don't often get that in a hotel.
Who knows me and hubby might be back at some point maybe with the balcony step made easier I missed my early cup of tea and watching the sunrise because of the obstacle so didn't bother with the balcony almost resembles a danger hazard unfortunately
Overall we had a nice time didn't have breakfast too expensive at £20pp went to a cafe round the corner .

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the downstairs area had some nice classical features as you would expect from a hotel that is over a hundred year old. We only had food once at the hotel and were disappointed, the panini was hard and dry, and the choice for lunch on the day was limited due to the airshow that was on. The bin in the downstairs ladies changing room had no bin liner and was full of ladies used feminine products. We had a dog friendly room and the carpet was badly stained and the wall had plaster coming off where the damp had set in. There was no mattress protector and some stains on the mattress and duvet. Having paid a premium due to the airshow and an additional fee for a dog friendly room we were disappointed as this is not what you would expect from a 5 star property as rated on Expedia. No one asked us if we had enjoyed our stay as I suspect that they knew it was not good value for money at over £600 including the dog fee for 2 nights room only. The owners need to spend money on the property as it does need some new carpets and the wall in room 203 needs fixing.

What a lovely hotel in a great location

We loved, loved, loved this hotel and would definitely stay again if back in Eastbourne. It was a last minute trip and quite unplanned so I booked based on others great feedback and we have to agree.

Easy parking was followed by such a lovely warm welcome and quick checkin. They have a beautiful old and original lift int he hotel with metal shutters and a seat which was lovely. However what was even nicer was the fact that you are taken to your room to check you are happy with it.

The staff at every contact were friendly and the place spotlessly clean. We would have been very happy had we been staying longer. Another nice touch was the offer of a complimentary glass of wine int he bar at 6pm as a welcome to the hotel. Whilst we couldnt take advantage it was touches like this that made the place feel out of the ordinary and a little more special.

Everything about the hotel showed tradition and elegance.

Well dont to the team working at this hotel - you are doing a great job!!!

Good location on the seafront and very short walk to the tennis venue. The mattress on the king size bed was really comfortable. Good view of the beach and pier. Staff were really helpful and the food was great. The chef made a lovely pasta dish for me and my husband's steak was really tasty.

What can i say apart from a very big thank you to all the staff myself and wife came in contact with during our stay. 3mths ago we stayed at The Grand in Brighton which was a absolutely amazing stay for my 60th, but The Chatsworth Hotel topped it without doubt, from the moment we arrived at 6pm the receptionist greeted us with a smile before taking us up in the antique lift to our beautiful large spacious Jr suite. The room was amazing with sea views, a super kingsize bed & the Jacuzzi bath was amazing. When we came back from dinner & cinema the night porter once again faultless and after a quick chat he offered us a late checkout which we gladly accepted, because we were able to enjoy room service breakfast without rushing & another soak in the Jacuzzi bath before checking out at 12pm. The waitress who delivered our breakfast once again lovely smile & friendly. My only negative was that we didnt have dressing gowns/slippers in the room & a mini fridge. Next time we will come for a longer stay & try out the restaurant & piano bar, but The weekend was absolutely perfect especially as we were celebrating our wedding Anniversary. Thank you Chatsworth team for making our short stay one we will remember & will be returning to very soon.

The property was stunning, I don't recall the last time I was shown to our room. The downstair decor is superb, I felt like I needed a cocktail dress to really enjoy it (think Downton Abbey). The old fashioned elevator, the decor, the color scheme, it was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. Out room was beautiful, with a fabulous view of the beach and pier. We were able to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the sound of the waves. The bathroom and huge tub just to die for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it is a shame it was only one night. We would return for sure, with a cocktail dress!

A lovely hotel which was recently renovated. The staff are brilliant and super helpful. Although we did not use the restaurant it looked very good. There was a beautiful cocktail bar too.
Our room was on the 4th floor and reached by a gorgeous old lift complete with seats!! The room itself was a little shabby in parts but the views were magnificent. Bathroom was large and very nice. Excellent coffee in the rooms and they all come with access to Netflix etc.
Would definitely stay here again. The owners have done a great job of renovating this over many years.

Really friendly staff on reception, parking permit for 24 hours was £2.20, which was really good for right on the seafront. Room was amazing!! Really clean, the biggest bed I’ve ever seen, and really comfortable. Lovely table and chairs by huge windows looking out to the sea. And the bathroom - WOW!!! Huge jacuzzi bath, and big shower!

I asked for extra bedding and this was provided, I was also offered a heater for the room as the radiator was not working. I can’t see how the room could have been described as delux double as it was an attic room and the sloping walls meant a mirror couldn’t be hung above the sink so shaving was difficult.

This property was sold as 5 🌟 . It wasn’t that sadly, 2 stars at most, without any of the facilities a 5 star rating eludes to, and some issues that any Hotel should be resolving urgently. We stayed for 3 nights in an executive sea view.

The hotel describes itself as sun drenched luxury. It isn’t. There were two positives; the location near the pier on the seafront is good, and our room on the 2nd floor was sea view.

When I say sea view, you had to open the window as all of the double glazing in the windows are badly condensated between the glass.

Other features were the stains on the carpet, coffee marks on the dresser, and they also left a free gift of Ferrero Roche (2) and some pills from a previous room occupant for my 5 yr old to find under the bed.

The Illy coffee machine worked well (only 2 pods provided), but it was a liability on the small table as it shook the kettle off and spilled, fortunately not hot.

The LED lights in the lamps were not dimmable and flickered.

In the bathroom there was a small bottle of cheap shampoo and a small bar of soap provided for showering. Not even Travelodge are that tight.

The bath shower had no temperature control on it and the temperature was variable, dangerous for our 5 yr old.

The old-gated lift is quaint, but there’s a reason why you won’t find them elsewhere.

And to breakfast; charged handsomely for a buffet which wasn’t provided, limited choice and badly served between buckets catching the rain leaks.

An okay 3-star hotel

A good 3 star hotel, but no ay near 5 stars. One gets the sense this used to be a good hotel, but in the last few years has been operating on a budget (new owners?). The structure of communal and rooms are good, but the furnishings and decor are getting tired. For example my, Aunt stayed in one of the sea view rooms, which had a great aspect and space, but the table had two major cracks in it and looked like it was from a skip. My room was a partial sea view room, and it was fine but rather basic (although the shower head was broken and thick with limescale). The breakfast room is grand, but the tables and chairs very cheap. The breakfast, esp.at £20pp, is really poor. The staff are lovely, but there is not enough of them - the receptionist also had to serve breakfast for example. This helps explain why whenever we called the phone is very rarely picked up. Great location. If you think of this as an okay 3 star youll be pleased, but very disappointed if a 5 star.

Had a very pleasant stay at the Chatsworth Hotel. I was greeted by the Hotel Manager George who advised I'd been given a complimentary Upgrade to a very nice suite. The Hotel was beautiful with the original lift that is apparently about 100 years old, I was then taken up to my suite and given lots of very useful information. In my room was a great guide to Eastbourne letting me know all the events that were going on during my stay and when I popped out for my evening meal I was given recommendations where I could eat. The staff were all very lovely and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, I will certainly be going back. Particular highlight was the ocean veiw from my room.

This is a slightly tired hotel, some grubby areas and stained carpets in our room. Very poor breakfast (also very much overpriced) There are some friendly and helpful younger staff but the man who checked us out was so utterly rude and condescending. I would not recommend this hotal to anyone, avoid

Very dated, carpets stained. No air conditioning, no decaff coffee. No fridge in room. staff friendly. very good location. Definitely not a 5 star hotel. 3 star at best. Bit petty to charge £2.20 for a parking permit when you have paid over £200 for a night's stay without breakfast.
