Great large hotel, positioned perfectly. It was a little under staffed and you feel tensions around staff and managers.

Our room was very comfortable and well worth the money. The breakfast was self service and like going back in time coffee wise.

We would stay again

This was likely once a great hotel but those days have long gone. The room was tiny and tired, the food was awful, the paintwork was peeling, the general cleanliness was poor. On the positive side, the hotel is well located, there is ample parking and the staff tried to do their very best against the odds.

Free parking is handy, though not advertised very well and limited. Check in was easy thanks to helpful staff. The building is old and tired - floorboards creek and go beneath your feet. Room was not particularly clean - dust everywhere and needs curtains that cover the windows as light came in at sunrise. Also a lot of damp in our room. Breakfast was good however.

The staff are super helpful and friendly. Breakfast is great but the times need to be extended in my opinion as the window is very short (8-9.15) the bar area is clean cozy and well stocked always friendly staff. I was given a standard room on the basement level that was very tired altho it was clean and the bed was very comfy I don’t think I would stay again in a standard room. The room is just not worth the cost at the standard there currently at.

The location is really good and it has parking. You can leave your car at the hotel and walk to the beach area. It is around 10-15mins walk. The shower and breakfast were okay however the room was dirty. The carpet had stains and everything looked really old. The worse part is that there was a really bad sewage smell coming from the toilet and corridor.

Hotel Review – Skegness The Royal Hotel

Had a really good stay at The Royal Hotel in Skegness. Overall, the place offered everything we needed for a comfortable couple of days away. The car parking was easy, and the hotel sits in a lovely spot close to both the seafront and the Country Park, so getting out for walks was simple.

The bar had a nice range of drinks, and the hotel serves both evening meals and breakfast. Breakfast was a classic full English done well, with cereals, juices, and the usual teas and coffees on the side. No complaints at all there.

The room itself was spacious and had everything you'd expect — TV with a remote, tea and coffee, toiletries in the bathroom, and even a fan. The windows could be opened too, which was great for a bit of fresh air.

The surrounding area was busier than expected for March, especially when the sun came out. Even though it’s still pre‑season, there were plenty of places open in the town centre for food and drinks in the evening. Being so close to the seafront was definitely a bonus.

All in all, a very good stay with very little to fault. Would happily recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Skegness.

The room was front facing with a lovely view 👍.. We really enjoyed a little break at the hotel , it has plenty of downstairs sitting space & the grounds outside was huge ..
Special thanks to \" Simon \" who was working on reception & in the bar , for the friendly , and professional service..
Also to the lovely lady from housekeeping, who knocked on the door on second morning to see if we needed anything at all.
It was much appreciated..
As a grand old house, there are obviously renovations the hotel said they'll get to whenever they can , but this didn't detract from our little stay , at all..
We would definitely stay there again 👍

The hotel is a grand old lady, with hard working staff. All hotel area's clean, Staff went out of their way to help guests enjoy their stay, even the Chef went the extra mile for us. Friendliest hotel Iv stayed in for ages, bar man put quizzes on the bar TV for guests in the evening, No one was a stranger. Rooms had heating, that you could adjust yourself. Shower was a bit dodgy, but worked. Breakfast is complimentary & buffet style. Plenty of parking, even for EVs. I would return if I was in the area.

The outside areas resembled a skip
The interior wasn't clean , it was so grim
The room was freezing , no heating in the bathroom , i had to sleep in my fleece and jacket
The food was disgusting
The description on the 'Hotels.com' website didn't in anyway reflect the true state of the place , totally misleading, how can i book with confidence now via Hotels.com ??

We really enjoyed our stay, our room was clean and even had a little extra heater provided which was a nice touch. Everywhere was clean, the breakfast was delicious and cooked lovely. The bar was very nice too with board games and a nice selection of drinks. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Would recommend and would stay again. Thank you!

2 men on reception are friendly. Good selection of breakfast and tasted very nice.
Our room was a twin. Cleanliness of the room wasnt the best as there was dust on skirting boards and on the bedside table..did not complain as still enjoyed our time. Hotel needs updating in many areas however it mustve been a spectacular building in its time. Definitely would stay again..

The hotel in side is very tired. The room was ok, new shower curtain and nice bedding. Breakfast was a disaster. There were a lot of guests staying at the hotel and we are not sure why it’s in the condition it is.

Excellent breakfast, with helpful staff. The room was clean and well appointed but tired looking The garden area requires improvement compared with my last visit 8/9 years ago. The 'touch screen' door lock new system is a hugely improved facility, helpful to the resident as well as safety and number control for the hotel.

Didn’t get our keys until 4.20, and when we went to our room it was as the last people had left it. Beds unmade, dirty cups etc. a guy said he would get it done immediately, so we left our cases and went for a walk. When we returned it was ok, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. The staff were very pleasant, but the whole place needed a good clean.

Not bad for a 2* - cleaning an issue

It's not bad for a 2*, however the building needs a total refurbishment. It's a beautiful hotel, but It’s tired, old and needs a total makeover. The room i stayed it was dirty and covered in cobwebs and had one plug - thank god i travel with a extension wire. Bed was comfortable, and I had a hot shower although i founds hairs in the bath.

Breakfast was amazing and staff friendly! Location is amazing. If they stay on top their cleaning, and carry out the refurbishment they can hit the 4* mark.

Breakfast was all in the price. And the bar was open when we got back from the show.
It seemed that the hotel was run on a shoestring. Staff were working 12+ hour shifts and the one person was covering all tasks. For example, upon check in the man at reception, by himself, had to check guests in, answer the phone, serve at the bar meaning that paying people were waiting longer than necessary. At checkout, again one lady having to sort queries, take any payments, check guests out and answer the telephone (which is why one cannot get an answer when ringing the hotel direct).

Old and outdated, most things are battered and breaking. Carpet is ripped, shower curtains discoloured, paint stained and old.
