Nighttime staff was fantastic to check in. Only stayed overnight; i was promised coffee but there was no cups available and coffee is the most important meal of the day. The bed was the most comfortable of all the beds I stayed on my trip.

My experience at Quality Inn Colcester is not to be repeated. Firstly the hotel is extremely run- down and looks like a decrepit student housing.
The check-in was friendly enough. But then when we got to the room, we instantly smelled a very pungent and musty odour. Then realize that there was no climate control. The room was set at a sweltering 78°. and could not be adjusted. By pressing the button for low, on the very dusty unit,the vent only produced more heat. We ended up, pressing the button for no occupancy and opening the window. Sleeping with the window open was not ideal in winter. The room was not clean and showed visible signs of neglect when cleaning. Residue from God knows what. The mattresses are very old and creaky. And the rooms are not soundproof by any means. The door had a large 1 inch gap at the bottom, allowing for anyone to pass by to either here into our room or us to be able to hear their entire conversation. It felt like the equivalent of sleeping in a bathroom stall. The sink handle was also broken and permanently jammed on scolding hot water. With visible scum and residue from the years. Thankfully, we only spent one night there. The breakfast also looked unappetizing and we chose to check out early and leave. It is a shame that this hotel is in such a bad state because location was great. But the Google reviews are accurate and should be taken as warning before booking your stay. Or not.

Room was clean but lock key was not working properly. Hair dryer was not working. There was no slipper to use in the room even no slippers for washroom or restroom. Fat free Yougart was expired in breakfast even best before date was december 2025. I told the managment but they did not change that yougart even all days of my stay there were having expired yougart in the breakfast. I have very bad experience this time in quality inn. I was not expecting that. I’ll not recommend to any of friend or relitives to stay in quality inn. Thank you!!

Yes, the room was lacking. The heating unit was only able to be turned on or off with no thermostatic control. The window was inoperable so no way to moderate the heat with fresh air. Staff came to look, couldn't fix it, and say they'd see what they could do, but literally told us \"don't get your hopes up.\" Hello? Really? Is that what you call customer service? We asked to be moved to another room, but were told there were no vacancies, but the parking lot was full and rooms were showing as available online. On check out, the staff at the desk pretty much said that just the way it is... our heaters are old and all work about the same, but \"we're working on it!\" I expect that staff can only do so much and the fault lies at the top.
Finally, the listing says \"pool\" but no indication that it is outdoors and closed during winter. Very disappointing as well. \"Quality Inn\" should be quality spelled with a \"K\" at best.

We ultimately decided to stay at the Quality Inn because it had the lowest rate in the area that allowed our dog to join us. The photos online showed your average hotel room in good condition. Upon arrival, hotel staff were very friendly and the check-in was a breeze. Unfortunately, once we arrived to our room, all went downhill. The door looked like it had been broken into multiple times, did not have a functioning deadbolt, and did not fully close allowing daylight and cold air to come into the room. The floors were dirty and not swept/vacuumed. The desk/cabinets under the TV had laminate coming off and peeling. The toilet was disgusting and the tub was gross and peeling. The water from the shower/tub had a stench to it. We also found a bug that looked like a baby cockroach in the bathroom. The bed sheets seemed clean but the covers did not, so we slept without them. The heater barely worked so it was either too hot or too cold. I would not recommend staying at this hotel and would avoid it at all costs. I'm debating whether or not I should request a refund considering how bad it was.

The overall cleanliness of the room was awful. There was a stain on the bedspread and they had painted the bathtub. Yes with like wall paint then to top it all off they called us at 10:30. Asking us when we were going to check out check out time is 11 and if you stay past that, there’s something on the wall saying they’re gonna charge you $250 to stay there till noon, which is absolutely insane. The only thing that makes this place worth it is it’s closeness to higher ground and the fact that there’s a Mexican restaurant across the street that was absolutely amazing.

The common areas were like a shelter, very bright lights poor paint job, cracks in the walls. The room was so hot and could not be adjusted. Needed to shut off the system and leave the door open. The bed spread had so many stains that it looked like it used as a rag to clean up a mess. That was the most distrubing part. Was it not clean or cleaned and still badly stained. The place looked nothing like the pictures of the room or property. I would have never stayed there. You got me again!

Room was fine, little dust and hair under the bed and in corners but the sheets were clean at least. Staff was fine, breakfast was average. Towels had a couple small stains. Sink faucet was loose. Overall average experience but the price was outrageous for what you get. We paid $200 per night and I spoke with other guests that paid $300 per night. This hotel is worth nowhere near that!

Agressive Manager at this Hotel

Unfortunately, the room was cold through the night with no washcloths, tissue or toilet paper. When we addressed these issues at 9:30 am in the morning at the front desk, they said the hotel had central heating. We told them we were not checking out yet but would by on time at 11am. A few minutes later, the manager forcibly entered out room pushing past the inside door latch. When she saw we were in the room, she did not apologize, say she didn’t know we were there. My daughter and I were in the middle of a private conversation, and luckily- fully clothed. Rather than respecting our privacy, the manager angrily walked across the room to the heater and said she was there because there was a complaint. When you stay at hotel, you should expect to be safe and comfortable and certainly hot harassed by a manager. Given the manager’s arrogance and aggressiveness, I should have just called the police but I didn’t want to escalate the situation.

Room was very small, hard to manuever with two people. We had our bikes with us too and it was very hard to get in and out of the room. The bathroom was much too small, water pressure was low in the shower. The fridge was not cold enough. Basically this place needs an overhaul! Worst part that they don't tell you is the HVAC unit in your room will automatically turn to heat if the temp outside is 45 or less degrees - what about the temp in your room?! That is not set up properly and our room went above 80 degrees!

when I was checking out I asked if I could get something to eat from the breakfast and the white guy probably in his 30s at the desk told me no because it was past 10 am. There were people eating still there and the food was still out. It was 10:20 am. The girl next to him was going to say yes but he said no and told me have a safe trip. I paid almost 400 for a night there and they are denying you to get something for breakfast. I definitely not staying there no more.

While the staff here were very friendly, what is pictured on Expedia is not what you get. Room 142 has the worst mattresses. You have to take advil just to get out of bed. To say our room was being cleaned just as we checked in was debatable. The floor was dirty. The lighting in the room was dim. Only a few channels on tv worked and when we put the heat a strong stench of weed came through the heater. I would never stay here again. I feel extremely ripped off. I stayed there because I have stayed at many other quality inn before and not knowing the area and based on photos felt comfortable going.

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt this one was necessary to help others avoid the same mistake we made by choosing this hotel.

Quality Inn… we’re still wondering where the quality was.

Upon arrival, we were given a key to a room that was already occupied. Thank goodness we’re honest people — we had access to other guests’ belongings! The room we were eventually assigned had a strong smoky, cherry-like odor (despite the no-smoking policy). The floors were visibly dirty, the shower had hair that wasn’t ours, the sheets were stained, and the inside lock was broken.

Breakfast was also disappointing — there weren’t even any fruits available, and the options were extremely limited.

If we had paid a small amount, it might have been easier to overlook. But at $600 per night, this was completely unacceptable. We were all uncomfortable sleeping there and will definitely not be returning.

My room was not cheap $350 for the night. Walked in and my room and the sheets smelled terrible of smoke. It’s supposed to be a 100% smoke free hotel. It was not. There were other guests smoking outside our room throughout the night. I was there for my daughter’s soccer game and unfamiliar with area so trying to find another hotel for one night was a hassle. I will say the guest service reps at check in were very nice and friendly.

Do not stay here if you are female and alone

This was one of the scariest hotels I’ve ever stayed at as a single woman traveling alone. My door had clearly been broken into and not repaired. There was no toilet paper in my room. The shower was cracked and falling apart. It was extremely loud at night and smelled like cigarette smoke everywhere. The outdoor access to the rooms was concerning when I was cat called walking to my door. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

Staff: the African American woman, the receptionist, she was very accommodating. Very pleasant and quick service.
Room: the initial walk in, it smelled of dust and cigarette smoke. So thick to the point I had to spray perfume to mask the smell. It was terrible.
Cleanliness: the bathroom had a dead spider in the shower, and an already used roll in the bathroom. That was pleasant.
Continental breakfast. They only serve waffles, cereal, muffins and juice/ water. Not worth it at all. All carbs, no protein.
Checking out: checking out was very pleasant however, it was an older Caucasian woman at 11:08 AM was banging on someone door saying “ you didn’t pay, it’s time for checkout”. As a hospitality worker or manager, that is no way acceptable that should’ve transpired. Maybe the occupants was in the shower or overslept, no way you should be banging on a persons door 8 minutes after check out time.
I would rate this hotel a 2/5. I won’t book another night here.

NOT a “quality” Inn!

I have stayed Quality inns many times in the past. And I’ve never had an experience like this. The rooms ( both ours and our friends)
were in need of updating. I will say the floors were nice. Upon arrival we were told that there was a 25.00 fee to check in an hour early even though the rooms were ready. Being a rewards member I was not charged. However, my friends who checked in before this were not given the option to become a rewards member and were charged $25.00 by the manager! There is no room cleaning/freshening unless you ask for it, which you are not told when checking in. So be aware that you will need to go downstairs to get fresh towels each day. We were there 3 nights. The “continental breakfast” is minimal at best. The coffee was not drinkable. We went next door to McDonalds where we met 2 other families having breakfast as they felt the same way. In one of the pictures below there is a tooth flossed that remained in the floor all 3 days that we were there. Upon speaking with the manager about issues. She was both condescending and rude. Be aware that Quality Inn is a franchise so there are low standards. This one had to be the lowest.

Found a toenail clipping on the floor along with other debris.
Hair on the bathroom floor.
Head of mattress was (no lie) 4 inches below the foot of the mattress, and there was a trough in the middle.
Windows were disgusting. Couldn’t see out them and looked like they had bird poop on them as well.
At around 11:30pm the clothing rack that was bolted to the wall (but not into any studs) evidently was overcome by the weight of two leather vest and tore away from the wall, crashing to the floor.
Staff was courteous, but couldn’t make up for all the deficiencies.

The staff members were very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Parking spaces were readily available. The check-in process was easy. Extra pillows and clean towels were provided.
The outside could benefit from some more landscaping. The glass doors and windows need to be cleaned. The extra security latch behind the room door was too loose. The commode constantly ran water. We tried shaking the handle, but this was not a permanent fix. There was a noise from the room next door that was persistent. It sounded like water was running. The rooms could benefit from additional insulation to decrease the noises from the hallways and outside. The air conditioning units need to be upgraded. The lamp on the bedside table needs to be fixed. The light on the right kept blinking on and off. The breakfast menu could be upgraded by adding sausage, bacon, and eggs. I suggest the coffee, tea, and water dispenser be made accessible to guests 24/7.

First room smelt like cat urine and was told that they would be able to use an air freshening spray to get rid of the smell and if it wasn’t up to our liking then they would switch our room. Was not going to stay in room with cat piss in it but luckily they switched our room before they even tried that wild method. After our room was switched the new room still had a funky smell but not as bad. The ac in this room was on the way out and rusty grates and the tv had no reception either. Asked the person at the front desk if there was any waters available, didn’t car if I would have to purchase them. Was responded with “no but we have ice” which at this point was just hilarious as if I’m going to wait for ice from the ice machine to melt in a cup. Just a wild experience for $260 a night.

The desk staff were knowledgeable and professional. The room was not properly cleaned especially the bathroom. Both rooms had bugs and long dark hairs on the floor. The front door deadbolt did not lock and the air conditioner was incredibly noisy at times (like a plane taking off). We were on the first floor, and both nights there was incessant loud stomping on the floor above us until 2 or 3 am. Trucks in the parking lot played music and shone headlights into our room until 2 or 3 am as well. Apparently construction workers were staying in the hotel The breakfast was very limited. Waffles the only hot selection. For the room price the room was totally unacceptable. We will not stay in this hotel again.

Just filthy, massive spiderwebs in the outside walkways, the air conditioner controls in my room were dirty, the bathroom and towels were unclean. Nearly $200 to stay in a room that bad, just unbelievable. You should be ashamed of the quality of your Quality Inn.

There was a piece of the metal bed frame sticking out and I almost cut my leg on it. There were dead bugs in the light cover. This room was right next to highway so very noisy at night. I arrived at check-in time and was asked to return in 20 minutes as the room had not been cleaned. The condition of the tub was disgusting. It was cracked, not clean, and in very bad shape, caulking in mounds around the soap dish, the tub was in very poor condition and there were ants. I was given another room and the tub was in bad shape, the room had a odd order and the air conditioning was VERY loud. I didn't want to stay, but they told they would charge me for the night and I would have to get a refund from the company in which I booked

This hotel room/stay was not worth over $300/night. Poor condition of the room (floor, mattress, etc) And I had to kill a couple of bugs.
The folks at the front desk were lovely.

Generally good, the staff are diligent, attentive, and friendly. The kids loved the pool and the free breakfast. The housekeepers and maintenance workers did a good job, but the building is old and many minor but important things need repair, such as loose door handles and security locks, shower curtain rod loose, bugs in the bathtub, ants on the floor and carpet, noisy a/c unit, broken switch on the guest washing machine, etc. Colchester is a tourist town so room rates in summer are inflated, but even so, this was not a $240 per night facility. With tourists and construction workers this place was fully occupied, so the corporation is making money but not investing in the property.

Extremely Disappointing Stay

Upon arrival, we witnessed the manager in a heated argument with another guest over their stay, which should have been our first warning. Our room was in unacceptable condition: visibly dirty, with black mold present, and none of the amenities matched what was advertised on Hotels.com.

The pool didn't have enough water in it, the toilet was barely secured and ran continuously for 30 minutes after each flush, and at 12:45 AM, the old, rusted air conditioner seized up and emitted a loud, high-pitched squeal that made it impossible to sleep.

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough to warrant one. I would not recommend staying here unless it’s an absolute last resort.

No soap for the sink or shower. There was a dispenser for hand lotion, nest to the sink where one would expect soap. The shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower were empty. The bed sheets had old stains on them. The door to our room was not hung properly and stuck. The only elevator would stop working periodically and someone from the front desk had to go to the control panel to flip a switch.

Flight got delayed due to weather, wasn’t able to make it to the hotel until a day later, requested to have my reservation adjusted given the circumstances, staff and manager was not accommodating and straight rude and not helpful, would never ever recommend or stay at this property or subsidiaries
