Unique hotel. Beautiful design. Poor maintenance. Functional staff. Not a great walking location for older people walking. I would recommend, it's clear the owners are not keeping up the maintenance. This hotel needs to be renovated, sad situation.

The Amazonia was a nice hotel, it's small with only about 10 rooms, but it always has someone on staff, has a pool and has breakfast. The staff was nice, room was a good size, view from the room was great, and we had a balcony, and the location was convenient to get to Sintra or Cascais.

We really did not enjoy our stay at this hotel. The room was dirty to say the least… the day bed had stains all over it and the window ledges were dusty/dirty. The entire room was pretty brutal… the floors were chipped, the bathroom had an awful moldy smell, there was a mirror right above the toilet that was on the verge of falling off… there was residue from the mirror falling on the toilet, there was a screw that was put in place for a door stopper… honestly we couldn’t wait to leave this place.

1/10 - DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Also, the pool was green - not anywhere close to the pictures we saw online. And the outdoor tables looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a minute.

Had a lovely stay in this hotel. The room was spacious and very clean. Gorgeous views from the balcony. The staff were very helpful.

The only negative was the breakfast in the morning. There was little choice and when we arrived in, no tables had been cleared despite them sitting vacant, leaving us to clear a table for ourselves.

What was good? -
Room was spacious

The bed was very comfortable
The view from the room was excellent
The shower worked well
The location was great, very central
The staff were pleasant (especially the staff member in the breakfast room)

What was not so good?-
The laminate flooring was old and chipped
The furniture was very marked and chipped and needed replacing
The sofa was old and dirty looking (it was marked)
The walls and skirting were scuffed and chipped and needed painting
The pool and the area around it was tired, and needed refurbished
The breakfast lacked choice and the hot food was not hot or of good quality.
The toaster dial was taped up, and it was very slow
The bar was non existent inside, and was only a portable table next to the pool. (The glass of wine i was given tasted terrible)
There were no nice little extras that you normally find in a 4 star place (such as: small toiletries (although there was hand soap and shower gel in a squeezy bottle on the wall), no drinking water, no tea/coffee machine etc

Overall, it was fine.Yes we could have complained, but there wasnt much they could have done about most of the things we would have complained about We were only staying 2 nights. It was just disappointing as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. No one asked how our stay was. Not even as we were checking out.

Very clean, staff were amazing, lots of stairs but had a chairlift. Very quiet at night but football field very close so lots of activity/cheering. Room was beautiful, we stayed in one of the round rooms pictured. Hotel is showing its age, but we would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to the beach and walkway.

Splurge for one of the round rooms in the original building. Best one is very top floor that you see in the pic - the view...the windows...the patio will be the crescendo of your vacation.The staff is lovely and so welcoming. The breakfast is simple and elegant but the coffee is the star of the meal.

very big room, with all what you need for cooking. A lot of space in the room. Maybe a little more forniture would be nice.
Clean badroom and nice small balcony. All with air cond and next to cascais casino and train station. Just in my room fridge was not working well, some strange colture in the ice space and a sandwitch of who know how many weeks before. They just forgot to clean it ??

The staff at this hotel is excellent. I give them high marks. The condition of this property is run down and shabby and definitely in need of an upgrade. The furniture in our room is old and needs to be replaced. The kitchen was not well equipped, no cooking utensils. The pool area and landscaping of the property could use an upgrade. The sofa in the lobby needs to go to the trash bin. Whoever owns this property needs to look at doing some serious upgrades. The staff should not have to deal with furniture that’s literally falling apart. The apartment is spacious. Furniture shabby and I need a replacement. Bedding and towels were fine.

Fin utsikt men slitet hotell

Generellt kan man konstatera att hotellet inte längre uppfyller 4* status. I reklamen sägs det också att rummen är ljudisolerade och det stämmer EJ. Hel bygganden är lyhörd t.ex. så hör man vad som pratas i receptionen (vån 1) när du bor på vån 3 eller vån 2. Kan ej uttala mig om det andra huset. Underhållet är eftersatt så hela hotellet verkar slitet framför allt golven. Rummen med havsutsikt /stort) dåligt utrustade vad gäller möbler och det fanns t.ex ingen vattenkokare som man kunde koka kaffe eller te med anledning av att de inte hade någon bar/restaurang på hotellet.
Läget och utsikten från hotellet var strålande.
Personligen tror jag att hotellet har en lång uppförsbacke tillbaka till 4* status

The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me with everything I needed and they always had a smile on the face. Great hotel ideally located close to the Estoril Casino (birthplace of James Bond) and the Estoril beach. Train station is also located close by with easy access to both Lisbon and Cascais. A number of good restaurants nearby and why not pop in to Hotel Palacio before the casino for a cocktail in a genuine James Bond location. Rooms at Amazonia are clean, bright and spacious with a nice pool area and breakfast available. Staff are all welcoming and friendly with all Covid rules adhered to to ensure your stay is safe and comfortable.

Great location near the casino in Estoril. Swimming pool was great after a long drive. However, they charged us way over the odds for bottles of water and beer. The air conditioning wasn't great, and they seemed reluctant to fix it. The duo at breakfast were intense and kept on asking us to let them know if we needed anything. Doing their job, I guess, but it became uncomfortable. Also one staff member didn't realise I spoke Portuguese and was quite happily discussing us to a colleague in front of us. Fairly unprofessional, given that we stayed three days.

Great stay, all staff very helpful and friendly, spoke English. Hotel spotless. Good variety breakfast,beautifully presented. Our room 131 spacious and comfortable with great views of sea and surrounds. Would return.
Estoril is a good, location, nice walk by sea or road,(about 20 mins) or short train journey (2 stops) to Cascais centre. Other direction train to Cais do Sodre station, Lisbon. Buses outside station to Sintra, etc so travel easy and cheap by public transport.

Being an American, my wife needed help with various things and all the people, (especially two ladies at the front desk and the maid service) were extremely helpful and competent. The breakfast buffet was excellent, especially the fresh fruit. An ideal location.
The hotel room was very comfortable and relaxing and I had a very scenic view of the area and ocean. Also, having a leg injury, the location of the parking lot elevator was extremely convenient and helpful for me to gain entrance to my room.
Thank for a very enjoyable stay! We definitely will recommend and potentially visit this hotel again!

Relaxed elegance a stones throw from Estoril beach

We had a lovely stay at the Amazonia. The staff were friendly and polite, and helpful at every turn. The rooms were spotless and regularly attended to. We had some trouble with the strength of the wifi, although this encouraged us to unplug a little more and relax by the pool. It's just a short walk from the beach or the artisans fair, which I highly recommend.

We really enjoyed staying 2 nights in Amazonia Estoril. Location is great, it's a small cosy hotel very close to Estoril casino and the beach. Room was spacious and very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Only minus thing was wifi, we had to log in every time when using the internet. However, if you prefer cosy, relaxed place with a swimming pool and some privacy, It's highly recommend.

We booked this hotel on the basis of having a sea view - but not all rooms have that. So we had to pay extra to get a room with a view. Unfortunately the area suffers from bad smells from the sea so the room was quite smelly- I had to ask for air freshners to make it bearable.
The casino is within sight, which is lit up like a christmas tree at night- so the black out curtains came in very Handy!
All in all - it's a pleasant hotel, but quite pricey for what You get. The wifi is ok but times out at peak hours, which is quite frustrating if you're trying to keep in touch with the office.
The staff were pleasant and helpful - when prompted.

Dissapointing experience

A poor hotel - the room had a lingering smell of damp and there was mould around the shower. The room is poorly equipped - with a small kitchen (despite being advertised as a hotel) and no mini bar or drinks. Having stayed in 1-2 other Cascais hotels - I know there are better value options in the town - and this offers little in the way of benefits. The hotel was also inflexible - I called 2 days early to inform them that I needed to check out 1 day early but was forced to pay for both nights.

A lovely hotel that just needs to sort its wifi

The smart and modern hotel is elegantly themed throughout in white and cream – wonderfully relaxing. Our suite was huge and comfortable, with all the amenities we needed other than a kettle.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. And the location perfect for an easy walk to cafés, beach, train station and more. The pool area was charming, with fresh free towels every day.

Considering how excellent everything else was their wifi came as a surprise. The days are gone when good hotels charge for this basic service. But here it came at a price – though modest. And having paid we did not expect to be constantly frustrated by its poor performance.

That apart, we loved the hotel and our time there.

We booked to stay for 14 days at the Amazonia after reading both the description and the reviews. Upon arrival it seemed that the generally good reviews and descriptions were spot on, however after a day or so it became apparent that it was not all entirely accurate.
I would describe the Amazonia in Estoril as more of a 4 star B and B than a hotel. The reason for this is that the hotel lacks facilities and lacks any services that allow or encourage you to stay on site.
There is no bar, and certainly no poolside bar as described by expedia. The restaurant is visible, but that is about it as it is not visibly staffed or inviting.
The dinner arrangements were laughable. I asked about popping down for dinner after we had been out all day only to be told that you have to book dinner at breakfast and as we hadn't, there was no dinner and the restaurant unstaffed and in deep darkness.
Breakfast was run in an effective manner by the staff, but this is easy if you do not vary any of the extremely limited options and offer no alternatives by hiding the staff in the kitchen. 14 days of the same breakfast is fine for those with OCD, I like a little bit of variety.
There were other slightly annoying issues with breakfast as well, such as offering 1 plate for a buffet breakfast is not always the best when certain foods just dont mix well; having large chunks of fruit that are too big to fit into the tiny bowls available; the cutlery was almost child sized.

Clean and confortable room. Quiet neighborhood. Just 15-20 minute walk to Cascais or a 5 euro taxi. I would highly recommend the facility. We ate at local restaurants and did not use the facilities. Try the white Sangria. Great bakery in Cascais called SACOLINHA, Right next to it a good place to eat roasted chiken. Awesome secure parking at the hotel.

Stayed in this hotel whilst attending a conference in Estoril. It was close to the conference centre and the centre of Estoril. Room was spotless and comfortable with everything I needed. Breakfast was good and staff were pleasant. Overall a great place to stay and I would go back.

Nice little hotel appartments. Since I was there ende of October just look very empty as no one was there a young gentleman at the reception was very helpful and nice. However room was not very clean and even found old frozen chicken in the fridge. If cold heating system via the air con very noisy. On departure lady at the check in desk was a kind of unfriendly and not helpfully. Altrough it seems to be a nice place on arrival just after 1 or 2 days you realised it's the wrong place to be and wish you have book another hotel

Hotel seemed pleasant enough on arrival. We arrived late feeling tired & hot & were shown to our room promptly & courteously by on-duty manager. When we went to hotel restaurant for an evening meal we were taken aback as there was no-one else in there & all tables were set for breakfast. When we enquired about a meal, staff member on duty there said there were only three things on the menu that he could provide & we would have to wait at least 30 to 40 minutes for it to be cooked. He enthusiastically showed us how to get to another local restaurant though when we decided not to wait that long! We had breakfast at hotel on a few mornings &, although food provided was acceptable, it was not worth 8 euros per person. Although hotel is advertised as 4star, probably because of facilities it could provide, it is at best 3star as not all facilities are on offer. Housekeeping for guests staying for more than just a couple of days is very slapdash. We arrived back at our room late on 3 afternoons to find that housekeeping had not taken place. When cleaners did arrive they were there for only a few minutes to make up beds and a quick wipe of floor with a mop. Bathroom was not cleaned every day. Clean towels were provided after a few days. All staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful but we got the distinct impression that hotel was under-staffed & staff had many roles. Rooms were white and spartan, possibly in belief that it gave hotel a contemporary feel.

Great location near beaches and Lisbon, but quiet

This is a very conveniently located, efficient hotel. Rooms are on the small side but very clean and have all the amenities you really need--plus balconies w/ sweeping seaviews. European style beds (a double is two twins pushed together) and no tub, but otherwise very comfortable and a bargain. 24 hr front desk coverage, which was very helpful when our delayed plane got us in at 5:30 am. English-speaking desk clerks. Breakfast (buffet) and internet are not free, but reasonable--there's also a pretty outdoor pool. We never tried the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but nice to know it's there. Parking is free, which is a big deal in this part of Portugal. Easy walk to the train to Lisbon (30 min ride), and boardwalk to Cascais just about a mile in the other direction. We had no interest in the Casino, but it's a two minute walk for those who do. Despite how close the Casino is, the only noises we heard were birdsong. The beach right in Estoril is lovely, and the people friendly and welcoming. Not a luxury hotel, but for the location and price, quite perfect.

Good 4 star property, close to station

Spent 6 nights in a studio room in October. Large room, simply furnished, clean, everything worked well. Twin beds, comfortable. Room comes with kitchenette, fridge, microwave, plenty of storage space, balcony.
TV had numerous English language entertainment channels - thank you (thoughtful).
Plenty of free parking.
Free safe in room (though not actually secured to anything), but slightly unusual in operation (no instructions in room) - best to ask reception.
Took train to Lisbon each day. 5 minute walk to station, 35 minutes on train - a better option than trying to park in Lisbon.

Disappointing

Very clean rooms but lacked any character at all. Breakfast did not start until 0800 and not very appetising. Service ok but considering the lack of guests rather slow. I had booked sea view room but ended up with a view of the car park - I think they called this a garden room. If you do stay here just get a normal room and save yourself the money.

Amazonlia Hotel in Estoril

Booking a hotel on the Internet is always a bit of a gamble. We had no idea about hotels in this area and went on the photos and rates of different spots seen on-line. We feel this hotel gave great value for money, was central to where we wanted to be, was clean, friendly, gave good service, was recently renovated... in short it was everything we hoped for and more. We had never stayed at an Amazonia hotel before. This one has only 28 rooms, is hard to find unless by taxi or GPS, but is well worth the extra trouble finding it.

Hotel Amazonia in Estroil, Portugal

The hotel has a great location, minutes from the town center and a nice walk to the beach. They have a beautiful swimming pool and our room was spacious and clean. My husband and I are well seasoned world travellers and had a problem with the tax driver taking us to an airport hotel the day before departing the country. I aksed the woman at the reception desk to call us a taxi to take us to the Holiday Inn Express at the airport. She did so and told the person on the phone where we wanted to be driven. However, she did not say where to pick us up, meaning to us she knew the person on the phone. The new black Mercedes pulled up 10 minutes later. We know it's important to have an agreed amount that the fare will be before getting into the taxi. My husband negotiated the fare to be around 40E. As far as we were concerned that was
high as we only paid 28E for the taxi to the Amazonia. The cabbie then told us, \"don't worry,
I have a meter\". The meter was not visible. He took an unnecessary exit off the highway into downtown Lisbon, stopping at street corners four times to ask directions from other cabbies where the Holiday Inn Express at the airport is located. We repeatedly told him to go to the airport and we'd find it. We knew we were getting ripped off. Finally we arrived at the hotel and he wanted 50E as he flips up a hidden meter from beflow the dashboard. We truly believe he and the receptionist are in cahoots and that he pre-set the meter before arriving to pick us up at the Amazonia. Be aware and arrange for your own taxi. No one likes to be scammed.

Would certainly return to this hotel

We were pleased with the hotel. We were welcomed by an Italian speaker and everyone was friendly. There was a problem because they were still building the second part of hotel and there was noise in the afternoon but this was quickly sorted out by the Manager. Cleaning hours were a bit erratic but were done daily. The hotel was in a quiet and convenient location and was very peaceful with good access to transport, restaurants and beaches, casino. Excellent tourist office.

This hotel has probably seen its best days in 1990s or 2000s. Nowhere near to 4 stars. Restaurant serves breakfast only, no bar service except from opportunity to buy drinks from the reception. Suite was spacious but worn out. Almost like a museum. In particular, we wondered why nobody took care of the huge pile of towels left at the pool during the entire week we stayed in there…

Petit déjeuner pas varié et manque toujours quelque chose, avec une serveuse très peu aimable qui se plaint de trop travailler !
Hôtel vieillissant mais beau cadre dans l’ensemble, dommage car avec un peu de savoir-faire et de bon vivre , ça pourrait être parfait 👍
