On the plus side, this hotel has been refurbished in a modern style and is reasonably well equipped, although it lacks a bar or restaurant. However, the area around there is very well served by restaurants, cafés and bars and the hotel is directly in front of the casino and gardens, and so is excellently located. Additionally, the hotel has a lower level open air car park secured by a gate that you access with a code. What lets this hotel down mainly is the pool quality of staff at the reception. It wasn’t clear whether they were poorly trained or just didn’t care but the service that they offered was very poor. For instance, the instructions on how to utilise the electronic safe in the room was inadequate. When I asked the reception staff for help the only response I got was that they didn’t know what to do either as the safes were relatively new. That’s really not an excuse! Also, although the room was equipped with cups and a kettle, pods were required and had to be paid for, with a dispenser machine located in reception. However, when I asked them to break a €10 note so I could get change for the machine, unbelievably they said they didn’t have any change. It’s things like this, and the absence of any towel hooks in the bathroom or any kind of entrance to the lower level car park (you have to walk around the building and go through the gate like the cars do) the stops this being what I would rate to be a good hotel. These things are easily remedied but I haven’t been

We love, love, love this hotel. The views, from the balcony, of the casino, park, ocean, and sunrise (or sunset) are absolutely lovely from the third or fourth floors.
We find the rooms to be spacious, and the location handy.
It is a lovely 20-min stroll, along the boardwalk, to Cascais. We find the rooms to be spacious and well-maintained, and the staff willing to help. We will be back (again)...

The hotel rooms are very old and not well maintained. Cleanliness was poor, bathroom plug holes full of hair and water wasnt draining through. The bathroom door was dirty and had hairs all over it.
Not the best hotel for the price. Find an alternative if you can.

Simple accommodations. Nothing fancy. Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. We had just stayed in the Hotel Evolution, which is a beautiful hotel from a visual perspective, but the staff were awful. The hotel Alvorada was much plainer and simpler, but the staff were much kinder.

Convenient (15 minutes) to Sintra & castles

Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, decent breakfast.
Parking is difficult. The \"onsite\" is a narrow ramp leading to <5 very tight spaces. Best to street park in the hotel spaces in front of the lobby, but they fill up fast (maybe 3-4 spaces).

We enjoyed our three-night stay at Hotel Alvorada in Estoril. The location is handy to the train and beach, and overlooks the casino and park grounds.

While the rooms are a bit older, the whole hotel is sparkling clean, and the staff are friendly. We were lucky enough to have room facing the park, and the view was a delight.

This is a great little hotel, with very friendly staff. We have stayed here three times and love it. Very spacious rooms and always clean. Breakfast is adequate to set you up for the day. Plenty to do around the area too.

It was in a great location. Walk to beach. Walk to train station. Across from a casino. The breakfast was amazing. The room was super big. The lady at the front desk was so helpful with suggestions on where to eat and she also gave us a map. The parking lot was very small and cramped and difficult to get in and out but at least it was free.

Good value in a great location

Great receptionist, room spacious and comfortable (with great view from balcony). Decor a little dated and some refurbishment needed. Comfortable bed. Limited TV channels. Free parking. All in all, very good value in a convenient location.

Good basic hotel close enough to station.

Good basic hotel. No tea making facilities in the room but otherwise all good. Friendly staff too. Short walk to the metro station for local train into Lisbon or 25 minute walk along the seafront to Cascais. Not a great deal in Estoril but recommend cafe Vani down by little supermarket for cheap snacks and the cafe in the station ticket office for the best nata.

Rock Fest 2019.

It was perfectly positioned, for our visit to Rockfest across the road, in the Casino, unfortunately, the only downside was it stank fusty do to lack of use.

Comfortable hotel stay & good value

The room, bed and service was good. Some slight improvements could be more fluffy pillows and cleaner shower walls. Although hotel was across from hotel, the area felt very safe and we did not hear any noise throughout the night.

Clean and quiet hotel in the centre of Estoril

Very spacious rooms. Excellent view to the beach. Helpful staff and easy check-in.

There are not tea/coffee facilities in the rooms, and no where to buy refreshments in the hotel which is a shame. A small bar would be a great addition!

Otherwise, an excellent place to stay in Estoril.

Very good location, nice balcony, good view!

Very good hotel, big room, great balcony, nice view!! I made great pictures with my drone flying around while I was relaxing in the balcony! :-)
I have been in Portugal many times and this area (Estoril) it’s one of the best places to stay if you rent a car (very cheap in Portugal, around £6 per day) to enjoy the tourist attractions of Sintra, Cascais, Estoril and Lisbon!
I suggest you don’t pay the 10 euros per person for the breakfast in the hotel, there are many other places (specially in Lisbon) to have a much better breakfast for a lower price!

One of the best Hotels I've stayed in!

HOTEL ALVORADA

The check-in was quick, quiet and smooth. The front desk staff, sushi bar staff and cleaning staff were always friendly and helpful. The distance to shops, cash-point, the beach and train station is brilliant (maybe 5-10mins walk).

Just an EXCELLENT Hotel!

The only improvement needed is that the room could have a few more facilities such as a couple more plug sockets and the overall hotel could benefit from more restaurant options.

Slow wifi

On arrival at checkin we were advised the breakfast was included in our booking. Going to breakfast the next day we witnessed a very poor looking breakfast. Before we were seated we asked if the breakfast was included as advised the day before and was told no, it was €10 each. Seems like a scam to lure people into paying for a bad breakfast.

The worst part of the hotel was their advertising of rooms as having free wifi which was completely misleading as It was so slow most pages would not load and the few that did would take about 3 - 4 mins to load.

Both these issues left a bad impression on us.

Nice hotel in good location

Reasonably priced hotel. Opposite Casino in which the evening buffet at 15 euros was very good value and excellent Portuguese food. The hotel's breakfast is adequate although the same every day. The hotel is an easy walk from the beach, and from the train station. A pleasant walk can be had into nearby Cascais. The room was very spacious for a European hotel. of 3 stars.

I was a bit disappointed when I saw my room, it was ok but nothing like the glamourous photos on the website, no tea or coffee making facilities either. The hotel had no bar, the hotel only had a sushi resteraunt . Breakfast disappointing , I know it's only continental but it only just made that, the staff were very pleasant and helpful, the hotel is directly opposite the casino and only a short walk from the beach, bus and train station but if I was to ever return I would book somewhere in cascais where there's more going on and better choice of places to eat.

Although it is ideally located, the hotel furnishing from bottom to top are out of date.
Old sofas, old chairs and not what what you would expect for a 3 star hotel.

Fab casino and good location

Nice clean and comfortable hotel-quiet location despite being opposite the fabulous casino. Downside was no bar and lift packing in periodically-but we thought it was a great hotel for the price. Hot tip-go to the casino and then finish the evening with a snack in the Jackpot bar next door

Very comfortable place to stay

The hotel was superb with very attentive staff and a very comfortable well maintained room. We found the breakfast to be more than sufficient with plenty of choice. The one criticism is that a hotel of this standard should really have free wi-fi.
Estoril itself is a very clean, attractive resort but it is very quiet with few cafes/bars and no entertainment. There are a couple of kiosks at the beach but we couldn't find a single shop! We invariably went to Cascais or Lisbon - helped by the incredibly good value train service.

Great location for the beach, train, and a dinner.

The hotel staff speaks good English and they will go out of their way to assist you. But, you have to treat them with respect to have them do the same. The rooms have air conditioning. Don't expect wifi to be the best. But, I didn't care about wifi. I was on vacation for a good four days.

hotel close to the beach and the railway station, nice basic rooms, tv with lots of channels, bar with wide choice of drinks, the only thing i could complain is breakfast which was very basic but it's not a big problem anyway, mojority of guests were elderly, location is very quiet when its not season, there is no shop close to the hotel and very few restaurants

Nice, budget hotel in a great area

Hotel Alvorada is a nice budget hotel in Estoril, Portugal. It's located right across the local casino but that doesn't mean that there is any significant amount of noise or any other inconvenience.
About my only issue with my room was the noise from the elevator -I was given a room right next to the elevator initially (room 408), but quickly realized that this would be a major source of noise and asked to relocate. My new room was bigger and noise-free.
This is not a 5-star hotel. If you need one of these, these are at least a couple in the area. Hotel Alvorada is inexpensive, but I consider it a great value for the price paid.
