The 3BR Villa was nice and spacious but had maintenance issues. The flooring was uneven and creaky, and when we checked in late afternoon/early evening the air conditioning in the master bedroom and main living room were not functional. After maintenance worked on it for an hour the bedroom AC was working but not at full capacity, and the living room AC couldn't be fixed. The bedroom temperature wasn't comfortable until after 11PM. This caused a fair bit of inconvenience and discomfort, we had young children who had trouble sleeping due to the heat. The living room AC wasn't able to be fixed during our stay. Management was responsive, apologetic, and helpful but at the end of the day wasn't able to offer us an agreeable solution to compensate for not providing a villa in full working condition. They offered to change to an equivalent villa after 2 nights, we declined as it meant packing and unpacking for 9 people. After a lot of back and forth the best they could do for us was various resort credits and services with a total face value of about $150CAD. This was a pretty small amount compared to the rate of the villa. Other than that the property was quite pleasant.

Zero service, bad food, tired rooms. Looks like hotel is catering to mass tourism package tours from Russia and China and makes no effort to provide any service or train personnel. English is almost non existent, except front desk. Staff untrained, unmotivated and try avoid contacts with guests. Ordering wine at dinner requires significant effort. Several calls to pick up laundry, and a few more to get it back. Limited alacarte menu. The buffet dinner was pretty bad both times we went there. On a positive side - great swimming pool and spa / gym facilities, but that’s it. Did I mention that during 7 days we were able to get beach lounger only once as most are occupied after 9am? Making people sign every bill twice is just another example of poor beaurocratic policies - mind you, they take your photo on check in for breakfast / dinner buffet, but for everything else you must sign twice and they often insist on closing the bill right away - the management clearly do not trust personnel to keep track of people eating / drinking to have single check in the end of the meal.

The resort itself is nice enough, but the little things were not good at all which all added up to a disappointing stay. Really crowded, a staff not able to cope. All beach and pool beds were reserved unbelievably early by people taking towels and placing them on the beds, and then there were no other towels available, so literally nowhere to sit. Same with the breakfast/lunch/dinner buffets. Too many people to cater for so items not replenished and the staff didn’t really seem able to cope or care. Room view was not what we booked and paid for, and everything felt a little difficult rather than it being the relaxing beach break we hoped for. It didn’t feel like Vietnam at all, and it felt like the resort we’re trying to charge for every single add on possible.

The one shining light was Duty Manager, Bella who went above and beyond in trying to rectify the issues that we highlighted, but for me the operation is flawed from the top tier.

Services are slow and housekeeping needs improvements. For examples such as dirty glasses were not replaced with new ones, some electrical outlet in our rooms were not working, cleaning solution was left in our room m, and bedsheet and cover had a musty-smelling. We notified the front desk. This is a beautiful resort and the services should be improved.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. The staff were consistently helpful and genuinely friendly — easily one of the highlights of the stay. Every interaction felt warm and attentive.

The location, however, is quite isolated. While this may appeal to travellers looking for peace and quiet, it does mean you’re fairly removed from nearby restaurants, shops, and general conveniences. On the plus side, the beach is absolutely fantastic — clean, spacious, and a real asset to the property.

Unfortunately, the room quality let the stay down. The door locking mechanism broke on the first day, and after it was “fixed,” the entire door frame gave way. It didn’t feel secure, and it certainly wasn’t what you’d expect at this price point.

On a more positive note, the food was excellent throughout — fresh, well-prepared, and consistently tasty. It’s clear the kitchen team take pride in what they do.

Overall, the stay had some real strengths, but the room issues were too significant to overlook. With improvements to maintenance, this could be a fantastic spot.

Do not rely on what this hotel claims—insist on seeing the room before paying. This was possibly the worst hotel experience I’ve had. It feels like a low-end motel, and the location is the only positive aspect.

The staff were unfriendly, the room smelled unpleasant, and the bed was essentially a box spring with no mattress. Worst of all, I woke up with bedbugs on my head. When I asked to change rooms, they refused to assist.

A local tour guide confirmed that deceptive and bait-and-switch tactics are reportedly common at Hanoi Old Square Hotel. He strongly recommended choosing a 5-star hotel next time.

The look of this resort is amazing however staff let this place down. Hotel staff and bar staff were friendly and helpful but the lifeguards and restaurant staff were very rude. My daughter fell over in front of a lifeguard and as I was rushing to get to her I saw the lifeguard laughing at her instead of helping her also the drama of getting enough towels everyday was ridiculous, if you’re travelling in a group they come over and question you why you have so many towels I needed to get a manager involved one day to explain we were two rooms together.

This review is for like-minded travellers (we’re from Canada) who came to Vietnam for its natural beauty & culture. We made a very last minute decision to change our plans to visit Phu Quoc so it was the first time I booked a hotel without doing any research. Vinpearl came up as #1 in Trip Advisor & Luxury Hotels.com, so based on that i quickly booked this place. We liked the fact that had a casino 5 min away & night market & a beautiful beach & spa. Well little did I know that this place & its huge property (Grand World etc) is like entering the twilight zone or entering something resembling universal studios but completely dead & empty. It gave us the eeriest feeling. We didn’t go to the casino because it had the worst reviews & the night market is part of their Grand World which is the most oddest place. Having said that, it appeared that we were the only people that thought this. Everyone else acted like it was the happiest place on earth. Tourists were mostly from a certain country. This place was so odd that we cut our losses on our 3 night hotel pymt, paid our flight change fee & booked it out of there. In fairness, the one day I spent there, I had a nice day lying on the beach & enjoyed the hotel’s very lovely spa (not cheap though). The room was large and clean. The facility is somewhat run down. Beach is nice but pool loungers would have garbage & dirty diapers lying around all day. Jumped in the pool for 1 min & came out with black long hair between my fingers

The resort was perfect.
The room was spotless and was in in the perfect location for restaurants, shopping and sightseeing.
A lovely balcony with a great view of the sunset too.
Everything you could possibly need was provided - tea, coffee, hair dryer, toiletries, etc, etc.
Courtesy buses to everywhere were provided free of charge.
A superb pool, nice bars and a great beach.

Size & view of room is great, however it's tired. You get a blast of musty/moldy smell everytime you enter the room. Stains on the cushion of the chairs. Service is ok, not the friendliest. Location good for those who wish to enjoy the theme park, safari and also Grandworld. Swimming was huge. The sea too rough for any swim (early sept) The shuttle bus to the park runs every half hour.

Beautiful hotel located on a gorgeous oceanfront beach.
The room: nice and clean. Little details that we like: provided sandals for the room & beach, the laundry line to hang up our wet swim suits.
The pool: nice and big
The restaurants: the beach bistro has a nice view. The breakfast buffet has plenty of options and all were delicious.
Afternoon tea: a nice bonus extra
The staff: friendly, courteous & helpful. The person who checked us in was knowledgeable. He spent time explaining things in details with us.
The airport transfers and bus were convenient and made it easy to commute bt places.

Stayed all over the island but this place is Heaven! Pool and beach are amazing and the food is really good. The breakfast buffet is incredible. Get the NZ Lamb from the Beach Bistro. Golf Course is tough. Vinwonders was great for the kids - no line up and good rides. Highly recommend

Stay was very seamless. To and fro transport arranged for us from airport. Highly convenient location. Kids had a great time at the pool and beach.

However, the food at the beach bistro can be improved.

Another important point to consider is the use of plastic. A walk at the beach shows so many pieces afloat. It would be a great move to ban all plastic.

This place is so nice if you want to relax on the beach and easy transportation around the north part of the island. However, the food is so not very good at all and so overpriced. It was really annoying to have to go into town to eat better food at a much better price. Also, no way to get large amounts of water for free here. I asked the bar to fill my water bottle and they said no I had to pay 60,000 for one small water bottle if I wanted water.

Cons: local knowledge about other facilities other than VinPearl related is quite limited. Location is too far from other water activities such as snorkeling or diving, therefore more suitable to family and elderly.

Very busy, lots of children, very noisy, impolite & rude guests with huge plates of food from the buffet, lots of noise from jet skis & speed boats. Poor service from disinterested staff. Prices of drink high for poor quality. Rooms tired. The beds were ok. Breakfast acceptable but only before 8am as the queues & lack of supplies made for a scrum later. Ok for one night if visiting a theme park. Nothing else in this part of the island but empty shops. No culture, history or peace & quiet.

If you are after a 5⭐️ hotel which can beat experience in Bali and Phuket, choose an experience with VinPearl for a family stay. Best of all is Staff, courteous, always willing to help and a 7 Star service by them. Big shout out to Minh Luan, around reception who is always willing to help with a smile and Bella trying solutions to any issue you present them with your stay.
Property has massive pool, restaurant at the property with great food, private beach and free transportation to & from airport and other destination. I will definitely visit again for this experience…

The facilities of the hotel are amazing. It’s huge. The beach is clean and quiet. You can swim out up to 20 minutes. 99% if the staff are great, but one or two senior staff at reception ruin it with poor customer service and air of arrogance. English is a bit limited at this hotel and in Phu Quoc in general. I would still recommend this hotel, because it’s very good and most staff are very sweet.

Having spent a whole week (21-28/04)at Vinpearl Resort and Spa in Phu Quoc, this is the newest and most beautiful Vinpearl resort that we have been to, and we are very grateful for all the kindness, hospitality and services that we are have received during our stay.

The beach is amazing, clean, well-looked after, with life-guard on duty from dusk to dawn.

Free regular (and on time) Vinbus services back and forth to amazing places like Grand World, VinWonders and Vin Safari makes it even a more wonderful experience to stay at Vinpearl Phu Quoc resort !

The Resort has a nice ,clean and gigantic swimming pool for all the guests to enjoy. The only comment we would make here is that for certain months of the year (e.g. April) the pool water is just TOO WARM. It would be great if Management could test the temperature of the pool and try to keep it below 30 degree Celsius

The buffet breakfast at the Shell restaurant is rich, plentiful and delicious !
Last but not least: the view from our Deluxe Ocean-view king bedroom is simply beath-taking! The sunset view is just amazing! We definitely come back again

The reception area was clean and beautiful. I booked 4 villas with a private pool. None of the pools pumps or lights was working. told the staff there twice and one time they came out to fix and it worked for a bit then stopped working so the pool was unusable. the pool water wasn’t dirty but I didnt want the kids swimming in it with no filters working.

Checking and checkout was terrible. over an hr to check out and I had already prepaid everything and gave them my credit card for any incidentals. we had to catch a bus to go to a ferry and was almost late. I would expect check out to be fairly quick since everything was already paid for in advance but they staff said they had check the room before I could leave to make sure if anything was used in the min fridge. I was told that I had a room credit to used for amenities but after they checked the room they said the credit couldnt be applied for the items in the fridge so I had to pay out of pocket.

overall dont think I would ever stay here again or recommend. I booked 4 villas and wasnt worth the price. Wasnt as nice as advertised. only good thing was it was right on beach and the beach was beautiful
