We loved everything about our stay. Our hosts were very kind, and put generous effort into providing delicious breakfasts, giving suggestions about local attractions, and allowing us as much or as little cat time as we wanted. The room we were in was very cozy, with a comfortable bed, and thoughtful touches such as a water kettle for tea or coffee, a small fridge, and a TV setup we didn’t take advantage of. The private bathroom down the hall was clean and had everything we needed. I would recommend this lovely B&B to anyone who likes cats and doesn’t have mobility issues that would prevent them from getting up stairs. Thank you to Pat and Conrad for a wonderful stay!

Perfect location near downtown Brattleboro. Convenient, easy walk to shops, restaurants, museums.
Pat and Conrad were warm, welcoming hosts. Conrad's homemade bread was delicious. I'm returning in October for his homemade English muffins and for some leaf peeping in the Green Mountains and the White Mountains just across the river.
My room was very comfortable, with a comfy loveseat tucked under the corner windows for a perfect reading nook and what was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

Excellent place to stay!

This is an awesome B&B! Pat and Conrad are great hosts and they live on site so they are available if you need anything. The room was clean and very spacious. There was comfortable seating in addition to the bed. The room had it's own Keurig machine and it's own AC/heat system. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Several food and drink options to consider. Also, Conrad bakes his own bread. I had the maple oat bread which was so good. This was my first time in Brattleboro. I will definitely stay at the One Cat next time I am there!

Top Cat at the One Cat.

Staying at The One Cat was one of my best experiences of all the places I’ve ever stayed. The hosts......Conrad and Pat are wonderful people. The two cats are very sweet....I fell in love!! The breakfast was extremely delectable and Conrad’s freshly made English muffins are to live for!!! We walked to town each day....less than 10 minuets. The restaurants are right there...one being a two minute walk. The first night we got back to the room and took a bottle of wine to the porch. The ambiance was wonderful......with the full moon and the porch being covered with lovely vines. The room was awesome! I felt so at home that I walked around in my bare feet. I’ve never done this in other places......but the place was very homey and clean. The books are many......so little time....but will return to check them out again. I usually have a hard time sleeping in a strange place but it was so quiet....no noisy neighbors.....no cart clanking away in the morning.....no people talking loudly to wake you.....totally peaceful. I will definitely be making a return stay and many more!!!! Thanks Pat and Conrad....Piper and Dex!!!

Let's keep Vermont Weird!

When I turned onto the street leading to the One Cat B&B, I was a bit concerned by the condition of some of the homes along the way. But upon entering the home and meeting my hosts, my concerns vanished. It's a delightfully decorated old house, full of Vermont kitsch which, for me, only added to the sense of homey comfort. The room was large and very clean, with a very comfortable bed. I thoroughly enjoyed my one night there. The One Cat and the Other Cat were quiet companions during breakfast.

A restful and quiet place

This is a perfect place for someone who wants to relax in a quiet and cozy environment and who enjoys feline company! The New England Room was comfortable and quiet with a nice nook for reading in the evening. The library is inviting with an eclectic collection of fiction, non-fiction, and coffee-table books. And the cats, Dexter and Piper, are friendly.

In the late afternoon and early evening I sat out on the porch with a book and enjoyed the flowers, plants, and occasional visit by a hummingbird. The neighborhood is homey. It's a lot like the place where I live. I felt safe walking in the evening. The town area of Brattleboro is about a 10-minute walk away and has restaurants, galleries, shops, and two bookstores. I did not move my car while I was staying at the One Cat. I could walk everywhere.

Breakfast was delicious and healthy with wonderful home-baked bread. The breakfast room is sunny and you can pick up a book while waiting for your meal or join Dexter and Piper watching the birds at the feeders.

I will definitely return here. Conrad and Pat are gracious hosts and interesting people. I enjoyed chatting with them. I plan to return soon!

There's No Place Like Home.

A great place to stay if you'd like to think you are living in Brattleboro - and not just be a tourist passing through. Though our stay was for only a night, I had been to Brattleboro many times in the past and the One Cat was the difference between feeling like a visitor and feeling like you are home. Additionally we have quite a baker in Conrad!

This beautiful warm house has beautiful warm owners, who are so wonderful and attentive. They made the simplest breakfast taste amazing and everything is fresh!!! The two cats flat mates are also soooo amazing and adorable! I was lucky enough to get a good couple sessions in with both of them. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a stay that is just as good as being at a hotel. I had never gone to a Bed & Breakfast before so I didn't know what to expect. And I was possibly a little nervous. I am glad to report that the first impression made was a great one and I will be a returning guest!

We would stay there again.

Very friendly and helpful couple running the place. The house is old and interesting, and very clean. The bathroom is shared by two guest rooms, but that was not a problem. There is even a chalk board for recording your preferred shower schedule. Breakfast was very nice, and the English muffins, baked on premises were excellent, as were the home-baked cookies they gave us for the road. We would stay there again.

Comfortable B&B Close to Everything

Our room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The room had lots of closet and drawer space and a refrigerator and large screen TV (which we didn't watch). The king sized bed was very comfortable and there was a choice of firm and soft pillows. Our hosts and owners were friendly and very helpful in our getting to know the town and area. There were lots of very good restaurants and bookstores within walking distance. Breakfast options included fresh fruit, cereals, and a choice of a full English breakfast, or pancakes, or omelettes, as well as toast, biscuits, and English muffins. Juices included cranberry, orange and apple. And there was coffee and tea. The house cats, Dexter and Piper were great. And the small quiet library had a large selection of books. Pat and Conrad, the owners and hosts even gave us a going away box of fresh baked cookies. We loved staying here. The One Cat and Brattleboro are quintessential New England (and Brighton).

A GREAT, FRIENDLY, ACCOMMODATING PLACE TO STAY

I stayed with Pat and Conrad (and of course, Dexter and Piper) for three nights. The room accommodation was wonderful and had everything I needed, including a selection of teas/coffees for my nightly cup of tea. Everything was wonderful, clean, and orderly and it was just like my home away from home. Delicious breakfasts, including delicious home made breads, English muffins, and bagels. I will definitely be returning to The One Cat in the future! What a wonderful three day stay. Close for walking to downtown Brattleboro, but far enough away as to really be like home! Lovely Little Spot in a Weird Little Town

The One Cat is located on a, shall we say, modest little residential street in Brattleboro. It's not terribly scenic, and my first glance led me to think I had chosen poorly. But immediately upon stepping inside, I knew I had found a hidden gem. The hosts are friendly and knowledgeable about their town. The rooms are charming, and the house is outfitted with everything you need for a quiet getaway -- games, DVDs, and a ton of books for the borrowing. The rooms have TVs that provide quick links to Hulu and Netflix for streaming shows. The kitties are wonderfully friendly as well. Breakfast was simply fantastic! Homemade breads, include homemade English muffins, are on the menu. None of the skimpy continental fare you get at some B&Bs. Here there is fruit and yogurt and cereal and juice and coffee and eggs and bacon and sausage and and and!!

The house only has two guest bedrooms and, as in most old houses, the walls are thin, so you need to hope for neighbors who share your sleeping habits. Also, the bedrooms share a bathroom, but the owners have made the best of this situation with separate towel bars, soap dishes and water cups for each room, labeled as such, in the shared bathroom.

All said, a lovely retreat in a funky, weird little town!

Great hippie hideout!

We absolutely loved our stay! Pat and Conrad were so welcoming and gracious! The place Is cool and eclectic and fun! Also the breakfast was amazing! A real English breakfast made by a real Englishman! The kitties were so sweet and Pat was lovely to chat with. We highly recommend The One Cat! It is close to everywhere in Brattleboro- a perfect place to come back to after a few cocktails and a great meal!

Don't Miss Out

The proprietors, Pat and Conrad, are such kind people. When you arrive they make sure you are settled in, taking care to show you any specifics of your room you might need to know (location/existence of electric kettle, mini fridge, wifi password, remote control for ceiling fan.) They are willing to work with you on an unpleasantly early (my baggage, not theirs) breakfast and make it seem easy for them. Did you sleep well? How was your day? That is very physical work, take a yogurt and fruit with you. Do you need a cookie (scrumptious home made) for that? They really care about making your stay the best it can be.

The house itself is adorable with two bedrooms sharing a hallway bath. The New England Room is the smaller of the two, but is well appointed so that two people can still feel a bit luxurious reclining on the sofa with a book. The Brighton Room, which is nearly half the house is light and bright having an incredibly cheerful feel. Even the shared bathroom is well spaced and very clean, everything is very clean!

There is so much right with the One Cat it is hard to write a concise review. The toiletries are bought in bulk and eco friendly with out sacrificing effectiveness. The food is home made, to order and delicious. There is excellent variety so you truly get a well balanced meal with fresh fruit, eggs any style, scrumptious English muffins, challah French toast and a daily melange of sautéed vegetables. They have breakfast meats as well, I just didn't feel the need for any.

Last but not least are Dexter and Piper the Cats. Piper is a bit shy and waits for you to approach her, be gentle and she will cotton on to you. Dexter, however, may greet you at the door when you arrive. He may or may not be waiting outside your bedroom door in the morning. It is likely he will expect cuddles.

Great Experience

Outstanding bed and breakfast. I give it the highest possible rating. My wife and I stayed here for a recent weekend getaway, and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The innkeepers, Pat and Conrad, went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. Their two cats are wonderful hosts as well! The property is totally charming and filled with interesting artwork, books, etc. We stayed in the Brighton Room, which was very spacious and extremely comfortable. The homemade breakfasts were so delicious and Pat and Conrad gave us wonderful tips and information about the best things to do while we were in town. They even gave us a lift to the train station when it was time to depart! My wife and I both loved our experience at the One Cat and would highly recommend it to other travelers.

Pat and Conrad are great hosts and have done a really nice job of making this a pleasant place to stay for a short break. The house is tastefully decorated and the rooms are very comfortable. The B&B is named for the resident cat Dexter, who along with his little sister are there for the entertainment of guests (by request). A true gem

A welcome and secluded Arcadia, comfortably nestled a stroll away from Downtown Brattleboro. Pat and Conrad were as welcoming as they were gracious and attentive hosts. Considerate of our needs and of the holiday, their impeccable service and warmth were an added bonus. The room - spacious, adorned, and inviting - was beyond any expectation. Great B&B in downtown Brattleboro

We loved our stay at the One Cat. It was walking distance from everything in Brattleboro, and Conrad and Pat were very welcoming. Loved all the books!
