Our stay was really great. It became possible, because of amazing people here. We weren’t aware that there is no public transportation or even taxi around. We don’t drive… Our dream trip was about to end without beginning… But kind big heart Alexandra helped us and drove us to Crystal ice cave meeting point and back! Overall, when our flight was canceled and we were about to cry, Ms Veronica offered to drive us to Reykjavik (which is six-seven hours to drive from here!)… I don’t have a words to fully thank those people! I can’t imagine what could we do without them?!

We booked a “standard room” at Hotel Höfn through Expedia. Upon arrival — on a completely snowy day — we discovered that our room was not in the main building but across the street, meaning we had to go outside in freezing weather every time we wanted to access the breakfast area or other common spaces. This important detail was not clearly mentioned anywhere in the room description.
The photos on Expedia’s listing also did not match the room we received — especially the bathroom, which was completely different. When we asked the hotel if we could move to a room in the main building, they told us everything was fully booked.
We contacted Expedia expecting some help, but their response was simply that the hotel refused the refund and that there was “nothing more they could do.” It’s very disappointing that Expedia doesn’t take responsibility when listings are misleading.
We have used Expedia many times before, but this experience makes us question how much they actually verify the accuracy of the properties they advertise. Travelers deserve transparency — especially when conditions like this can make a stay so uncomfortable.

Such a lovely and very clean hotel. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant on site was delicious. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood close to the water and has plenty of gas stations, places to eat and a shopping center with a pharmacy. Plenty of parking and a good breakfast buffet and staff. Hotel has plenty of sitting areas to look out at the ocean or to get out of the room.

There was no offer to help as well so we have to carry up a flight of stairs all our things. Aside from that, the room bathroom was really really small where there is no divider between the shower and toilet except for a shower curtain. All beware. We chose this hotel due to pictures which makes you believe you're getting a room with an amazing view. We arrived to get our room in a separate building away from the main hotel. They were like small college dorm rooms. No where could we find we would be staying in a different building. The mattresses were very uncomfortable. There was a smell in the building. At 309 USD per night we were anticipating a very nice experience. After all it was the most expensive hotel of the entire trip. So far it has been the worst. Sewer smell in the room, moldy smell in the bathroom. Small room with no closet and barely any space to put the luggage. No coffee maker, no fridge, you get a couple of powder coffee pouches. The looks of the common areas are nice, building from 1965 without elevator. But the looks of the bathroom is that of an abandoned hospital, the shower is bare concrete walls. Room 301 however offers nice views.

We may have just gotten a terrible room, but among the issues: it was located by the main entrance and we could hear every guest coming in and out—they would walk right by the window. The bathroom window was only partially glazed for privacy, with no curtains so it felt a little exposed. The blackout blinds didn’t fully cover the bedroom window and sun was coming in all night. The bathroom door didn’t close properly and the sink didn’t drain. I could go on, but all to say, it wasn’t the most pleasant hotel.

Out of all the places we stayed in Iceland, these had the best beds for our comfort. Came with tons of pillows also which was nice. The room was clean and had a school nearby, so we were able to take our toddler to play and a nearby grocery store for snack stop.

Dated hotel, poor customer service bedroom that smelt of open drains. Bathroom has no window there were two exposed drains within the prefab bathroom unit comprising one tiny shower, toilet and sink, not big enough for two people to be in at the same time. To make matters worse, the bathroom smelt rotten which flowed into the bathroom making the sleeping uncomfortable . Receptionist was not interested and just confirmed it can happen when temperature are warmer than expected! No apology for discomfort, pictures shown did not reflect the room we stayed in. We were in Iceland on a road trip for 7 days this hotel was the lowest standard we experienced representing terrible value for money as we stayed in more competitive priced hotel with a far nicer accommodation standard!
