The girls at the front desk were incredibly helpful and polite. They assisted us multiple times with directions and helped us find specific places we were looking for. The room was very clean, and they provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hotel is in a great location — just 2 minutes from Higashi-Jujo Station and about 7 minutes from Jujo Station, which made getting around very easy. Thank you again! We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very close to a train station, Higashi-Jujo(JR Line.) Across the street is a 7-11.. so convenient!

The staff speaks enough english to get you checked-in and checked-out, and then some.

The rooms are small, but big enough for 2 people, and their luggage.

The staff are absolutely great! They are professional, welcoming and extremely polite!
The room in itself was small but you could see from the pictures that this was going to be the case so this is not a complaint. Rather I am stating the obvious for anyone who needed confirmation.
I think the room could be cleaner. The vent in the toilet and kitchen area had accumulated a lot of dust. Again this is something you can sort for yourself. Cleaning products are very cheap and can be purchased in 7 eleven store, which I did.
I think this overall was good value for money.
The hotel is slightly far from main attractions but my husband and I enjoyed taking evening walks.
There is also a restaurant once you walk out to the left after you walk just a little bit - highly recommend!!

All of the staff here were so kind and accommodating to us. Unfortunately the curtains in our room were short and left a large gap at the bottom of the window, therefore I was up every morning at 5:00am with the sunrise. The walls were covered in stains from smoking and there was no room service whatsoever (we even had to take out our own garbage). The location is very close to food and the train station which was great, but as a budget traveler, I think I could’ve found a better place for a similar price.

The rooms are clean, but they are a little small. Make sure your luggage is all set and put away before settling in. Otherwise you will always be competing for space. That being said, a lot of Japanese hotels are similar to this, so be aware.

There is a JR train station very close by and a 7-11 across the street. VERY convenient.

With that in mind, trains run to 12am-ish at night, and start up again around 4-5am. So if you are sleeping with your window open, it can get pretty noisy. Also there is a REALLY good bar just right next door, but it can get rowdy at night.. as I mentioned just be aware of these caveats.

Otherwise the place is a GREAT place to stay.

For the price it was amazing! However it is very outdated and the beds were very uncomfortable. We asked for an extra pillow and were told no lol… but oh well for the price it was great. The location was 10/10 tons of local shopping, 7/11 across street as well the train is two seconds away from hotel. Hotel and location felt very safe and secure. Great for someone on a budget!

Although it might be small for others, it was what you needed, private bathroom and shower, it came with a sink, kettle and a portable industrial stove. It was 2mins away from a station and 10mins walk from a shopping center and a park ans right next to a convenience store. Overall, it was a perfect place for budgeting.

From the start, there was a thick layer of dust atop the toilet paper holder and the toilet. I wiped down these surfaces and the pull-out table in the bedroom area myself. There was some grime that had built-up around the crevices of the kitchenette. I was a little put-off by this, and used towels to cover these surfaces before placing down my own articles.

Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Upon check-in, staff was thorough in explaining trash collection, accessing the property after hours, etc.

Property Condition & Facilities: 3☆
I was grateful I could do lots of laundry for very cheap during my stay. My room had a bed that pulled down from the wall directly in the middle and a bit difficult to navigate. I had to juggle one suitcase on one side of the bed and climb over the bed to access and organize another.

Area Around the Property: 5☆
The hotel is a minute walk from the station. It is a very quick transfer from the JK line to the JY line. There is also a koban right in-between the two, so the area felt quite safe. There is also a 7-Eleven right across the street.

Overall: 3.75☆ of 5☆
This is an acceptable budget hotel, especially if you're just looking for a place to rest for the evening that isn't a capsule hotel or hostel. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. I reccomend this place for solo travelers like myself who don't mind being a little outside the tourist spots.

I liked that it was as minimalist as I imagined for the price. It being immediately next to the subway line was very convenient.

Really liked this property, lovely staff and right next to Higashi Jujo Station so really easy to get where you want to go each day. All staff members knew a basic level of English which was very helpful. Room is quite small but that was what I was expecting so no complaints. Didn’t find the noise from the trains very loud or disturb my sleep but you can bring earplugs just in case. I booked a smoking room due to what was available and price and it barely smelt at all.

You get more than what you pay for!!!

We had a great time staying in Flexstay. The room was small for 2 of us(me and my partner) but it was definitely manageable as we mainly use it to sleep at night after long walks. It was also old but complete with the basics and was even surprised that they have charger cords for different kinds of devices. Definitely a plus for me!

Aside from the cleanliness, the location was also accessible- it’s near 2 JR stations. There’s a convenient store opposite and small eatery just outside the hotel and within 2 mins walk.

They also offer toiletries including yukata which is very handy. And has laundry and dryer room. Overall, it’s a great place for those who are budgeting! You get more than what you pay for☺️

Great staff, great room and overall it was excellent. My phone was stolen, and the staff were great in helping me following this. Having a sever allergy to shrimp, they translated ingredients for me when I had difficulty with Kanji, which saved my life considering I had no translation software anymore.

My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks in a smoking room in the beginning of January. We don't smoke and feared our room would have a strong smell but that wasn't the case. The room itself was fine, no complaints considering the low price per night. However, if my wife and I were any taller, the room would feel a constricting. Getting new towels requires a small payment. The best part about this hotel for us was the location. Quiet and VERY close to the Higashi-Jujo train station. Overall, an ok hotel.

If you're ok with a very small space then it is fine. As for my partner & I, it became crowded after the 3rd day. We had to climb over the bed to access our luggage, unpack, pack, use the table, open the window. The bed is not at spacious if you have a mover when your sleeping (LOL). It is in the way to have more space. We were right across a 7-11 so it was very convenient for late night snack run. A small shopping mall is a few minutes away (literally 5 mins). 2 train stations are close by this area. Lot of izakayas around. The best was E-pronto's crab cake sandwich only served in the mornings :(. Overall, if you don't like small spaces this is not the place to stay. Other than that a 2-week stay was great.

I paid ¥8,500/night, but it is not $8,500 worth hotel in Higashi Jyujyo.

1. It’s a very old room and not renovated that make us feel like it’s dirty. In facts, there are some molds.
2. Next the train rails and super noisy
3. Did not have a bathroom sink and it’s difficult to wash face and others
4. People use it as an apartment and people are making noises in a hall ways and everywhere.

Rooms were very small and if you’re in a couple and are staying for more than a couple nights, it’s not really ideal as it’s too cramped. Bed linen didn’t feel or look clean. Neither did most of the room. Staff were very friendly and their English was ok. Location overall was decent as there are 2 train lines close by - 1 that is right next door and the other only a 10 min walk. WiFi connection was great but other than these positive points, it was pretty disappointing.

Tiny hotel really close to JR Higashi juujo station. Fairly quiet area, great for if you have a JR pass and don't mind a small commute to the more popular areas of Tokyo. Oh, and the ramen shop across the street has off the hook, awesome ramen. Room was tiny but what else can you expect from a business hotel in Tokyo? Don't plan on using the kitchenette, it's just a single burner. There's a convenience store right up the street for any late night or breakfast food needs.

After I checked in, I walked around the room.
It was a few spill on the floor. In addition, blanket was dirty because of lipstick.

Afterward, I asked my friend to live with her in the same hotel. She got the same room. However, she do not like it. Therefore, she wanted to get the new room. The staff said it was okay. However, I thought that he was annoyed. He closed the door that make a loud sound. Moreover, housekeeper was not good because it is still dirty near sink after I checked out. ( I did not do it. It is dirty before I used the room.

affordable hotel in tokyo

first, this isnt a 5 star hotel, but its one of the cheapest we found given the proximity and size. its 20 mins from tokyo station and harajuku. its a 2min walk to the station and its on the JR line. we (non-smokers) ordered a smokers room, which surprisingly didnt smell like smoking at all. the room, while extremely small, gave us a bit of space to leave suitcases, included a small fridge and air-con, drinkable water, and a kettle on a stove top. which for the price was considered extremely well fitted. for similar prices we were otherwise looking at dorms and bunk beds. the bed was only a double, and the doorway was made for people 5ft or shorter, but i only hit my head once, and it was so hot in tokyo, having my feet hang out the end of the bed wasnt that bad. the staff were really helpful, spoke english, the wifi reception was good, theres a laundry and microwave down stairs, and a 7/11 across the road. all in all satisfied with what we paid for. you (kind of, for ease of access) have to leave the jr station using stairs and turn right, unfortunately this means lugging suitcases up stairs. but its only 30 sec walk this direction or 10 min walk leaving the escalators.

If you only need a place to sleep at night, as we did, it is perfect because of the cheap price. It's location is perfect - directly next to a train station - so you can set off early and spend all day exploring Tokyo. If you plan on spending more time in the room than just the nights then I wouldn't recommend it. It is v small and v basic inside, but well worth it if you'll be out all day!

Very small bed, close to the station and 711!

Flexstay Inn Higashijujo is only a 4 minute walk from the closest train station for the smaller local cities, if you want to visit the big cities like Ikebukuro, Akihabara, or Shibuya, just take the path up the hill the opposite way of the other station and in 15 minutes you will arrive to the station that will take you there. Very convenient location, 711 is literally only 20 second walk infront of the hotel. Now for the actual rooms they are very very VERY small. My boyfriend is 5'7ft and 145lbs and I am 5'2 and 107lbs we barely fit on the bed at the same time, and I advise to bring your own pillows since hotel pillows are too fluffy and bend your neck forward. Room was pretty dusty, and smelt of smoke, it was a smoking room since I think they are all smoking rooms, but I wish they kept it a bit cleaner. No outlets in the restroom nor a sink. to wash hands and brush teeth must use mini kitchenette. kitchenette had one burner and a fridge. no pots or pans, you must rent those. Friendly staff that greet you every time you pass by.The staff speaks a little bit of english, You must throw away your own trash. no room service. heated toilet. The hotel provides coin laundry.

Close to Train Station

It was a pleasant stay, the room was quite small but not a problem at all because we only stayed there to sleep. Most of the time we were outside. Staff were nice, they lend me adapter for my charger and weighing scale. They kept my luggage for 2 nights as well as I need to go to ski resort for 2 nights. I left some of my clothes in the cabinet and some in a plastic bag bag were I put the rest of my rubbish. But they took and kept it and folded it nicely and put it in my room the next night I was back from ski resort. It is highly recommended especially to those who don't want to splurge on their accommodation as the hotel is 2 minutes walk from higashi jujo station.

Perfect for your Tokyo trip!

The hotel was perfect for us. My girlfriend and I are about 163cm and 170cm respectively and even though the toilet was a little cramped, it served all our needs. The bathtub is a little small, but you could still have your bubble baths but only for one person at a time. There was always hot water whenever we needed it, so it was a huge help because we stayed here during winter. We were here for about, 8 nights and we don't have any complaints since we were out most of the time. A lot of reviews complained about the room being quite cramped but I think it all comes down to how to you arrange your luggage and things. We had 4 luggages, 2 big ones and 2 small ones and yet we managed to move around the room freely, so I guess it all comes down to how neat you can be. Our room was the economy room. We needed some extra hangers and requested them and got at least 3 from the counter so the staff were a great help. The train station is literally 1 minute away which was extremely convenient! The Jujo Ginza Shotengai wasn't that far off, so it was convenient for us to get all the things we needed like fruits and snacks and even dinner! Our room was also facing the train tracks but the sound didn't even bother us, especially when my girlfriend is a light sleeper. Overall, we actually loved this hotel very much and would actually come back here for our next trip!

Affordable room

This hotel is very convenient as far as transportation, it is located right next to a train station and public transport in Japan is amazing! Is your only going to sleep to the hotel and not have tons of luggage this hotel will work, space is very very limited, yet affordable. the neatness of the rooms is not fully good but once again you get what you pay and its very convenient. staff very friendly, English speaking.

Friendly staff but not the best hotel

There is no room service, no one to clear your room. Rubish have to throw our own. Room is pretty small then what I've expected. Television is not working and the air con sinks! But the reception counter staff is friendly and nice. Besides that, there is 7-11 as well as shop nearby to have a meal.
