Our garden room was perfect, with lots of space inside and on the balcony. The beach and resort amenities were great, with good options available for food and drinks. The staff were very pleasant. We really enjoyed our week at the Azura.

Amazing Staff Hampered by Significant Management Failures
I have mixed feelings about our stay. On one hand, the employees were terrific—hardworking, welcoming, and truly dedicated to service. However, the resort is severely poorly managed. We faced daily shortages of basic essentials: no beach towels, pool chairs, bath towels, or even shampoo. The supply issues extended to the bars and restaurants, which were constantly out of staples like coffee, beer, and specific menu items. The staff does their best, but management is failing to provide them with the tools to run a functional resort.
I would not stay here again.

Upon arrival, the front desk didn't seem organized at all. Seemed like a poorly trained staff. Once we were escorted to our room we noticed the bar fridge wasn't stocked and the floors were not mopped (still dirty from previous guests). The room was spacious. There wasn't any hot water in the shower :(. We did eat at the Italian restaurant, but i can't say that the food was that great either :S

THE MAIN COMPLAINT - my husband received a call from his doctor back home that his test results came in and he needed to get back home and be admitted to hospital ~ this was a truly unexpected event. So the day we checked in, we had to book a flight home the following day hence only staying 1 out of 7 nights. We explained this very unfortunate situation to the front desk manager and we felt that she understood the urgency and would request a provision on our account as we had to fly back home. A month later, we were informed that the hotel would NOT refund any portion of this stay - BAD KARMA Azura Beach! This was an emergency, we provided hospital documentation from our return and they chose not to offer any compensation. I realize that we were past the cancellation date, but common, that's POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

No towels when we checked in and they often didn't replenish them without asking, toilet was never cleaned, power went out often, asked concierge a question then was directed to someone else then back to him then back to someone else... That happened on multiple occasions. Battery in our door died and it took them over an hour to change it. Overall did not feel customer service oriented whatsoever.
The food was good, the pool bar staff was phenomenal (Farid, Yesin, George) without them it would have been a complete fail of a trip however I would not recommend this location to anyone.

Chambre avec vu sur la mer et coin piscine. Seulement 1 restaurant pour dîner et 3 pour souper avec réservation obligatoire, les draps n’avaient pas été changés à notre arrivée, nous avions accès à la piscine de notre chambre et notre coin piscine était toujours sale. Aucune vu sur mer de la chambre. Peu de chaises à la plage, et elles sont très loin du barre de mer.

Facility is lovely but the service staff is poorly trained, with the exception of the bar tenders. The quality of the food was disappointing. For example, sea bass is not talapia and the rib steak… not even close!
No variety in the menu as well.
Would not recommend this resort.

Resort is beautiful and rooms are updated and clean. The food is incredible! Swim out room was amazing.

The resort is small. Approx 75 rooms and seemed like only 40% full between Christmas and new years.

Out of all the restaurants, only 2 were open on any given night and get your reservation in by 9am to stand a chance of getting in.

The service is beyond terrible. When ordering drinks, order 2 or 3 at a time as it takes 30 plus minutes to get them - even if there are few people. We ate one night at the italian restaurant and it took so long the waitress asked people to leave as they needed the tables for people waiting. This was while we were still eating. Same night we ordered 2nd round of drinks while waiting for food. A huge eye roll and a huff from waitress. 45 minutes later asked to leave and never did get 2nd drink.

Water was muddy brown and dirty the entire time - not very enjoyable.

This resort has nothing for daytime entertainment by the pool. Just very bad yacht rock themed music over bad speakers. Absolutely nothing happens anywhere at anytime. Everything closes at 10, which means drinks are done by 9:15. Closing at 10 means lights out and employees leave.

If you want to get to town plan ahead. Taxis area minimum 1 hour wait. We got lucky with an uber which the front desk said is illegal- worked anyway.

The one way shuttle ride is just under 3 hours from Liberia and just over 4 hours from San Jose so plan accordingly.

The property is very clean and pretty modern right on the beach. The room was wonderful and the staff were pleasant and always helpful. We enjoyed the entire week. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. While there were plenty of places to eat with several different styles of food, nothing really jumped out. The whole Samara area is really nice and pretty quiet. You can walk on the beach all the way to town (about 2 miles). It was a little hot in the afternoon.

The room was great. We had the deluxe king swim up with an ocean view. Most of the staff was courteous and the overall resort was good. There needs to be an improvement on the food and the selection. Also, the resort needs to buy more bath towels and pool towels. It was like pulling teeth just to get a towel. I would have still rated 4 stars. However, the morning we needed to check out we got locked out of our room for over an hour before anyone could resolve the problem (the batteries needed changing in the door lock). We ended up arriving later to the airport. We stayed at Azura Beach in April 2024 and we came back because we really enjoyed it. However, after this stay, we will not be back any time soon.

Customer Service: There is a Whatsapp number that you need to reach out to book dinners at their different restaurants and book tours, the issue is that there is only 1 person to answer the chat and has other duties so it takes somewhere between 2 and 4 hours to get an answer…
Staff: It seems that there is no management and to train new people, if you ask for their food service times they all say something different so you don’t really know if breakfast time is over or not or if it is snack time or whatever.
Morning Snack Time: We were at the hotel 4 days, some staff said morning snacks were at 9 am, some other at 10 am and some at noon, the thing is that there was no morning snack time in any of the four days, one day a lady just said “the guy who cooks didn’t come”… so, solve it, if not is it even all inclusive?… then other day the guy showed up at 11:20, and starting organizing some stuff in the kitchen so that time passed by, lunch time and he left, 40 minutes doing nothing…
Jorge or George: he is just lost, we don’t know if it was that he wasn’t trained or something but he asked for our order 3 different meal times and he forgot all 3, there had to be someone else checking orders because George was completely lost…
Wifi: The Wifi is just useless, no connection and when it connects is super slow… and it doesn’t get to 3rd floor, it just connect but their isnt.

Terrible from beginning to the end. Started off claiming I didn’t pay a deposit, which Expedia confirmed was paid. Demanded full payment. Food awful, drinks, awful. Service seriously lacking but not bc of the staff but bc they were severely understaffed. Room service is non-existent. We ended up buying our own alcohol as they only served non branded liquor and beer one beer. Had to chase down house keeping to get a towel bc when they cleaned,they took the dirty towels including hand and wash cloths but only left ONE shower towel afterwards. My husband asked for two pillows and they told him they probably “wouldn’t do that”. So many problems, too many to list.

My fiancé and I were traveling and checked into our rented condo, but unfortunately the AC was broken. We looked up AZURE and decided to check out this location for our week-long stay. From the minute we walked in the door, the staff was kind and welcoming, and we received a tour of the resort and immediately fell in love with it. We decided to book and stay for the week.

I have had the opportunity to travel to other all‑inclusive locations, and this one was by far the best place I have stayed at. This resort is truly 5 stars. The staff, food, and rooms were all top‑notch. This is a smaller, adults‑only resort; we enjoyed the pools and quiet atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to relax and unwind.

The Shade in Room didn’t work so finally the last night they came to look at it said they will have to come back
The swing chair on porch. The class was bent when we got there so I asked them to fix it. They put a real small cheap ring on it and said it was fixed. Then my wife and I sat in it and it fell. I hit the ground hurt my back. I’m 65 years old. All they did was says are you OK and then they came back and put a bigger clasp on it, and just my wife sat in it from their own.

The mattress had only flat sheet should have fitted sheet
The bar had certain items like Malibu rum when we got there not top shelf liquor
The steak night was terrible very fatty meat

This was a great vacation and all of the staff were very friendly. It’s a two hour drive from Liberia but is quieter than most all inclusive resorts which is what we were looking for. They had rotating restaurants to reserve for dinner with unique menus and made great drinks.

My stay at Azura was fantastic! Everything about this adult-only hotel felt relaxing and well thought out. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were incredibly attentive and always went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect.

One of the biggest highlights was the beach of Carrillo, located right next to the property — absolutely stunning and peaceful, easily the highlight of the entire trip.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I’m giving it four stars only because nothing’s ever completely perfect, but this came very close! I’d definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, adults-only getaway.

Also, when you stay at an all inclusive resort it can tend to have mediocre food. That was not the case with this property. This isn’t a large resort. Everything closes at 10 literally everything. I don’t like that the restaurant only opened on certain nights and I had a swim up room but no one came to clean the leaves out the pool other then once at night when we’re trying to get dress. The staff was slow moving. All request had to go through WhatsApp and I found my self sending the same text more than once. No live activity, games, or entertainment on this resort which I didn’t like. Food was good, drinks depending on who made them if they was good or not. This resort is for relaxing only that’s it.

The resort and its location was gorgeous and lush. Tucked away in a remote part of Costa Rica, Samará is blessed with mountains and ocean views.

Azura was quiet escape from the hustle and allowed us to feel relaxed. The resort restaurants were excellent, my favorite being the Chill & Grill.

I was underwhelmed by the spa service and the gym, however it didn’t dampen my overall experience and happily recommend anyone to visit Samará and Azura for a calm trip.

Very pretty hotel and staff is friendly. My only complaint is the pool was not clean nor was it circulating water, so it was stagnate with people making it worse. Also the pool bartender had to keep leaving for supply reasons, so took forever to get drinks. We just walked over to main bar each time we wanted a drink. Lastly, the food could have been better but it was edible. Super quiet and relaxing though with pretty ocean and beach.

I wanted to love this property, but it fell short of being a true all-inclusive 5-star experience.

The food was subpar, and you have to schedule your meal time with the concierge every morning. They were understaffed, and it takes a while to receive any orders; However, the employees were extremely friendly and helpful.

It's a great place if you want to just relax and not be around a lot of people.

Overall great place! FAR from San Jose airport tho! Jazmin and Alejandro are amazing! The food was great, and overall the place is BEAUTIFUL. Our room AC wasn’t the coldest at night, and the larger pools pump was NEVER on. So as someone who managed a pool company at a time in my life, that’s not the best. Hope they get it fixed.

But great time, made some cool friends, and the wet bar is the best!

This resort is falsely advertised as adults-only, there were kids present, including in the pool early in the morning. Nightlife was non-existent; all food and drinks, including room service, stopped by 10pm (really 9:30pm). The buffet was tiny with limited options—mostly fruit, three cereal options, eggs, and two meat choices (sausage and bacon). No turkey bacon, veggie options, and on two days there was no bacon at all. They claim to have five restaurants, but only three were open (Chill & Grill, Bocatto, Tao), all requiring daily reservations, even if tables were clearly empty. Some were closed without notice. Buffet dinner also required a reservation and had barely any food; no meat, mostly fruit and potatoes. Any ordered food takes atleast an hour each time.

The beach water was murky brown with seaweed and debris; we even saw a dead stingray. It was warm with a nice view but not safe for snorkeling. Worst of all, $160 was stolen from our room on day one. We reported it to the front desk and nothing was done. This resort advertises a hot tub, which they dont have. Even when I asked staff about it, they were confused. They did have a Jacuzzi that was slightly warm. It didn’t work for three days and was shared with kids.

The only highlight was Jasmine at the Chill & Grill, her vibe was nice and her drinks were always fresh and amazing. Despite the beautiful view, I would not return. The trip was full of disappointments and false advertising. Dont let pictures fool you.

We rented a car a drive there, took a while to get there, and the road is a bit sketchy to drive at night, but it was cheaper that scheduling a ride. Takes about 2-3 hours from Liberia depending on traffic. We will be back though. It was so relaxing and the cocktails were delicious! Just go!

Worst resort ever

DO NOT BOOK HERE. We checked in and our entire room was filthy. The bed had blood and urine stains all over. The bathroom fixtures were all rusted and the sink was leaking anytime we turned the water on. The roof had BLACK MOLD all over it. The couch had stains and mold all over. The shower head was dirty and had mold on the corners.

The resort pool water was too low for the filter and the water was basically just sitting and not filtering at all.

The gym was a joke. The door handle is a zip tie. The walls have mold and termites eating away at them. The equipment broke halfway through a workout and we were hurt by the impact of falling.

This resort is a complete joke. Not even half a star. To make matters worse, the hotel staff are complete liars and they refused to allow me to speak to anyone in charge. They would not provide management or any corporate contact. STAY AWAY. Check photographs!!

My room was spotless and well-maintained, the food was absolutely delicious, and the overall appearance of the resort was both impressive and inviting. A beautiful getaway all around!

This was a nice resort overall esthetically but the lack of versatility that it provides is awful. You can’t do activities everyday. Only on certain days and they should make that known. Why send me an entire brochure of activities and NONE of them are available especially on Saturday. Just because you all don’t book them maybe you can connect the guest with other companies to do activities. Even if you are unable to provide entertainment outside there was no entertainment on the property. Nothing. Literally I entertained myself. The prices are normally more than what it cost and we got a major discount but they shouldn’t be charging anymore than what they charge now. The location is inconvenient for what they want to charge someone to be there. This wasn’t the best choice for a vacation and they need to do a better advertisement of the overall grounds. They were doing renovations and constantly while in my room, I was disturbed with noise. The staff was very nice and I enjoyed them. Also do not book transportation with them. But the management lacks providing great entertainment to those looking for an all inclusive adult only resort. It’s $165 per person one way when you can book a taxi from the airport round trip for $280 for 3 people.

Difficult to review in some ways, but I can say the rooms were great. The hotel staff was friendly and happy to serve. We went during the rainy season, so the resort was relatively empty. This is a all inclusive resort on the smaller side of that category, so it had fewer food options than larger resorts, but the quietness of it was great.

On the down side, despite the resort being relatively empty, service was a bit slow and sometimes the staff at meals was hard to find. The beach is a bit narrow and admittedly trash washes up as is common for the area, but they could have cleaned the beach more frequently if at all to get up the bottle caps and the like that washes up.

I would however say that they should enforce a headphone rule and stop people from talking on speaker phones. This is a big pet peeve of mine and my wife, and perhaps I would have given it 5 stars if they enforced this.

I would also get a car or plan that you are going to take organized trips daily, as there is not much to do on the resort itself.

In summary, this is a great resort for a getaway and the midrange price might justify putting up with the shortcomings.

Excellent and relaxing. If you like an authentic, quiet and quaint secluded beach resort vacation in Costa Rica, feeling as if you owned a piece of Costa Rica all to your self, this resort would not disappoint you. Very close to the town to where you can walk thru the beach which takes only 15 mins. There is an excursion desk that helps organize daily activities for staying guests. We took the 3 hours horse ride and a separate coffee tour on alternative days during our stay, which are very enjoyable. The food and service at the resort are also nice.

This resort labels itself as all inclusive, which it partly is. They serve guests food and drinks, to include room service, from 7am - 10pm. Before 7am, it’s difficult to find coffee and after 10pm no drinks are served. Also, after breakfast, there was really no where to get snacks until lunch began being served around 12:15.
Outside of service being subpar, the grounds are gorgeous. The entire hotel has green luscious plants, vines and beautiful flowers. The town is close enough to walk and the excursions they offer were simply amazing.

Great massage by Cilenia.
Axel took great care of us for lunch and dinner.

We loved our stay here and felt the other reviews we read prior to arriving were pretty accurate! The property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was exceptional and the service, while at times longer, was also high-quality. This resort doesn’t necessarily stay open very late and is for someone looking for a more laidback atmosphere. The food and cocktails were without question the best we’ve had at an all-inclusive. We were well-pleased and enjoyed every meal. The nearby town, Samara, is also a quick cab ride or a 30-40 minute walk by beach for a change of scenery. Overall, we loved our stay here, will recommend it to those we know, and hope to return someday!

First and foremost, the staff were absolutely fantastic!!! They were ALL so friendly, funny and accommodating. They made the stay so enjoyable. The resort boasts 5 restaurants but based on hotel occupancy they are not all open each night. It does make business sense and I get it. I was just surprised by this when we got there. You need to make reservations each day for where you want to dine that night (based on what restaurants are open). You need to do this first thing in the morning or you may not get into your preferred restaurant for that night. For the most part, the food was very good to excellent. Our favorites were the Asian and Italian restaurants. They seemed to be most guests favorites. Laundry seemed to be an issue every day. We were never given a full compliment of towels each day and often had to go to the front desk to ask for hand towels and wash clothes. The beach was really nice but it's not a \"sugar sand\" beach. When the tide is out you have around 150 (or more) yards of hard-pack sand that is great for beach walking or running. It's a nice walk into Samara on the beach - about 1.5 miles and takes about 25-30 minutes. Some good tourist shopping and beach bars there. There are also several surfing schools there if you want to try that. The waves are great to learn on. We could not believe how warm the water was in the ocean (March). I've never felt the ocean that warm before. We were very happy there!

Reservations were needed for restaurants, but no one to seat you on arrival, you can seat yourself. When ordering food, the order was always incorrect.

We have gone to quite a few all inclusive hotels and this was by far one of best ones. This place was absolutely incredible! Really well kept, super clear. The staff was amazing, very accommodating, the food at every one of restaurants was really good. We also booked massages at their spa, by far one of the best massages we’ve ever had! We went to the spa on our last day and we wished we had gone earlier so that we could have gone back a second time. We did the sunset excursion which was super fun. I cannot say enough good things about this resort, we cannot wait to go back and we will.

Azura is a smaller all inclusive. The staff were welcoming and lovely; although, it was evident that the place was very understaffed. Room cleaning usually came around 3-4pm each day when we were taking a break in the room. The turn down service was somewhat inconsistent. The hot water was consistent as well; there were two days where the shower only got to lukewarm. Nevertheless, the beach is beautiful. The place was not super crowded, which made for a nice, restful stay.

This is a smaller resort which we liked. Pool was nice and beach was a short walk. We had a Junior King Suite, nice setup, however would have loved to have in the room a comfy chair or sofa to relax or stretch out on instead of the bed. The French restaurant is closed so that limited our choices. The Italian food was great, best risotto! The wait, pool and bar staff was very friendly. Just a note, the resort is about 2 1/2 hours away from the Liberia airport so be aware. We were able to arrange a pick up to and from the airport thru the resort for an additional fee. Overall a nice stay!

This hotel is a scam. There are no ocean view rooms. The hotel is set back from the beach with large trees blocking the view. The hotel is 3 stories tall so u can’t really see the ocean. It’s a beautiful view, but don’t expect an ocean view if u are paying extra for one. They “upgraded” us to a ground floor pool view with no tub even though we booked an ocean view tub suite. We pushed back and finally got the room we booked but we were disappointed to see there was no ocean view. Additionally, The bathroom had black mold all around the shower floor, the curtains were broken so we had no privacy. The couch in the room was dirty, our bed frame was stained with a suspicious liquid. We were locked out of our room multiple times and had to wait for a technician to open to our door. We saw other guests experiencing to the same thing. No hot water when we tried to shower. Chemicals were poured into the pool while guests were swimming. Breakfast buffet was barely edible. We booked for 6 nights but packed our bags and left 2 days later. They are refusing to refund us for the remainder of our stay but we don’t care because we are so grateful to no longer be in that nightmare of a resort. If you are well travelled and expect a 4 star experience, you will be greatly disappointed. Also please avoid the gym, my husband almost broke his ankle using their treadmill because the treadmill carpet kept sticking and randomly stopping. They also make their workers work 18 hours a day. Terrible.

My husband and I chose the Azura Resort in Samara, Costa Rica, for our honeymoon, and from the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into paradise. The resort is a perfect mix of luxury and relaxation, making it an ideal home base to explore the beauty of Costa Rica.

While some may find the food service slower than expected, we embraced the “Pura Vida” lifestyle—taking time to enjoy the stunning atmosphere. If you’re in a rush, we recommend McD's ;) otherwise enjoy paradise.

The real standout at Azura is the exceptional staff. Roxanna made our trip with her warmth and unmatched attentiveness that made us feel like the most important guests at the resort. She creates connections that go beyond service <3

Jonathon always greeted us with a wave and food recommendations that never disappointed. Alejandro wowed us with his incredible cocktails and tipped us off to a nearby spot to see wild monkeys. Jazmine kept the bar lively and fun, ensuring our evenings were full of laughter. Brenda and Hanisey brightened our mornings, serving coffee with sweet smiles and patience as we practiced Spanish. Axel and Danny provided attentive, speedy service, while Lux and Wendy planned excursions we’ll never forget—like seeing whales and dolphins or zip-lining and soaking in hot springs. Roberto, our driver, doubled as an amazing tour guide. He pointed out creatures and sights we’d never have noticed and was a joy to travel with. We’ll miss him and everyone at the Azura dearly.

Azura was a beautiful and peaceful resort with a great beach and wonderfully friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation there and would recommend it to others. That said, the resort as a whole was short-staffed, which resulted in some longer wait times for food and drinks - not a deal breaker, just room for improvement. Also, given Costa Rica is known for its coffee, the coffee at the resort was subpar. Again, just room for improvement, but still a wonderful experience.

The hotel is in a nice location on the West Coast of Costa Rica. It is a smaller hotel. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are clean, however the daily service in not reliable. Several times they ran out of towels. The only negative point is dining/food. There are very limited choices - 3 restaurants - and some day only 2 restaurants are open. The menu selections are also limited. While the food is fresh and well prepared the wait time is sometimes very long - 3 hours for a 3 course dinner is too long.
