Our stay at Ammata Lanta wasn’t planned. We were caught in the Middle East airspace closures and ended up in Bangkok trying to get back to the U.S. With 36 hours between flights, we didn’t want to sit in the airport, so I searched for something unique near the airport instead of the Marriott.

Ammata Lanta had solid reviews, interesting photos, and a fair price, so I booked two of the lowest priced rooms and hoped for the best.

Our flight arrived at 06:40 and we reached the resort around 09:00 after customs. The staff greeted us at the cars (yes, two—we had a lot of luggage) and quickly took us to breakfast before service ended. During check-in they explained our rooms weren’t available due to other stranded travelers and upgraded us.

They welcomed us to relax in the lobby, use the pool, or take the shuttle to a nearby mall. After three days of difficult travel leaving the UAE, we chose to simply decompress.

At 13:00 they got us into the rooms early. When we walked into the suites, everyone said “WOW.” The beds felt firm at first, but we all slept incredibly well.

Each suite had a private plunge pool overlooking a pond where we spent the rest of the day relaxing.

The resort sits near the runway, so jets pass overhead often. For us, working in aviation, it was music.

The property shows some age but still has a lot of charm. I would absolutely stay here again.

We enjoyed the restaurant, got a massage before our 22 hour flight, and dipped in the sparkling pool. Breakfast was included (ended at 9:30am). The property grounds were breathtakingly beautiful. We were in AWE of the beauty. Planes flew directly over the resort as it is close to the airport, and which we thought was pretty cool. They provide ear plugs for the noise at night, we slept fine. It is loud, but we didn't seem to mind. I would definitely recommend to stay here again!

I've visited Thailand 5 times now and stayed here every time. It's such a beautiful, relaxing, and luxurious place to spend a night or two before catching a flight home.

The apartments themselves are spacious, ornately decorated, and contain everything you could possibly want, depending on which type of apartment you opt for. The one I'm in right now has a private pool outside which overlooks the stunning lake, and the slightly smaller apartment I was in last night had a view of the river/canal and the airport.

Speaking of the airport, the resort offers a free taxi shuttle service to Suvarnabhumi Airport if you are catching a flight straight after your stay, and they will also collect you from the airport for a small fee if you're going straight to the resort after landing.

Of course there will be noise from overhead planes, but you will quickly get used to it.

I've tried the breakfast buffet here before and was very impressed, but that was many years ago now so I'll update this review once I've had it again this time. There is a nice restaurant that overlooks the lake that has apparently been here for longer than the resort itself, and guests are able to order takeaway from it directly to their rooms or sit outside and admire the view while they eat. The restaurant often has live music for diners to enjoy.

There are additional services available here such as massages, but since I've never used them I am unable to comment on them.

Overall, fantastic, and I will return!

Although room was large and funky in design there was an oder of sewage that permeated the room. Originally choosing this hotel for its convenience to BKK hotel and photos/details provided on the website, we soon found out that planes were non stop all hours and the room had no sound insulation at all. We had an early departure from BKK and could not sleep at all even with hotel provided earplugs. All the floors in the room and bathroom were sloped significantly making it strange to walk on, shower, use the toilet and sink, etc. Absolutely bizarre.
The front desk staff were pleasant but the waitstaff at the lake restaurant were the worst we had during our visit to Thailand. No smiles, energy, enthusiasm or interest in what they were doing at all. Couldn’t wait to leave the restaurant and the hotel.

The staff at the resort were helpful and very nice. The bed is HUGE and comfortable but the drains were very slow so you are stamding in water halfway through showering. The furniture in the sitting area was quite dirty and the water fountain outside the door did not work so the entrance to the room was just a smelly dark scary place.

Stunning resort, it is quite quiet but that is because there are not many villas on such a large plot but it’s an amazing place. It is by the airport which is why we booked it and extremely convenient. Very helpful and polite staff. This hotel was definitely one of the weirdest I stayed at. The villas were huge and very interesting and the pool was excellent to spent time at during our pre-departure day. It felt abandoned though and we saw very few people. There is nothing to do outside of the compound so I don't recommend this for your stay in Bangkok. It was ideal for one night stay before our departure as it is very close to the airport. It's filled with quirky art which I enjoyed checking out. We got a bargain on the room, nothing like the prices mentioned in the article when the resort was first open in 2016. I would stay again if traveling with others but not as a solo traveller.

Wow.... airport hotel never knew existed.

Stayed in many hotels in Bangkok and around the world.
This one is special. It's not a chain hotel with boxes, it's a hotel full of art, sculptures and everything eclectic.
I am a collector of trees so I appreciated the owner keeping some of his collection of fine works and artifacts. Even the painting outside on our terrace was an original signed piece.
The room was totally opulent and the roof made of brick gave accoustics an echo.
Bed sumptuous, everything perfect.
Downside was noise from planes but it didn't bother us. Such a peaceful sleep we ended up missing breakfast...so obviously we must return.

Thoroughly Disappointing

Saw the hotel many times on the way to the airport and decided to give it a try since it looked so interesting. Unfortunately, great photo opportunities are its only redeeming feature.
The rooms are not soundproofed as advertised. Or if they are soundproofed, it doesn't work at all. So it was almost impossible to sleep because of the incredibly loud plane traffic that seemed to go on all night (hours past midnight). The villa was spacious, bed was comfortable, and the domed ceiling looked very interesting, but if sleep is a priority, this is not the right place. The hotel is obviously aware of the problem since they provided bedside earplugs.
The bathroom had a bathtub, but it was unusable because it still had standing water that would not drain due to some design defect. Tried to eliminate it but there was still standing water the next morning. The sink was also faulty.
Was hoping that breakfast would compensate for a horrible night, but it was lacking as well. There were not too many offerings, especially for a hotel that is supposed to be 4 or 5 stars, and what there was, both Thai and Western, turned out to be not particularly good. It might have been our imagination, but nobody looked particularly happy at breakfast. (Note: relatively limited hours for a hotel near the airport - we were told 7-9:30am).
Restaurant on site was over the top design-wise (like the hotel) with passable food that is predictably pricey - you're paying for the photo ops.

A few things about this place. Let’s start with the staff, I can not express how great the staff are, very kind, very accommodating, very professional. 10/10
The accommodations are fantastic.
Pros: close to the airport, friendly staff, beautiful facility.
Cons: close to the airport, planes flying over can be loud, the distance from Bangkok requires a one hour ride, you need to plan accordingly. Breakfast buffet has nice selections, the only downside is the food is usually cold. Easily remedied, the cook staff need to keep the lids closed on the food to keep it hot. It doesn’t need to be displayed.
Even though it’s far from any activities from
Bangkok, I would goto this resort again. It’s worth the money spent.

I chose this hotel primarily because of its close proximity to the airport, which was the only plus. The overall experience left much to be desired. The property appears quite outdated and in need of significant renovations. Our room had an unusual layout (floor was tilted), making it difficult (almost dangerous ) to move around comfortably and safely. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were below expectations and did not meet our needs.

While the location is convenient for travelers, I would recommend looking into other accommodations to ensure a more pleasant and comfortable stay.

Very strange place but AGED and ECCENTRIC. Would have been very grand and special in the 90s. Has been maintained and very clean but strange ‘resort’. Not many guests, breakfast not great with cheap ingredients, customer service and facilities are very good. Free shuttle to airport on the hour.

Beware mosquitoes.

Might be a great stay but be prepared for quirky.

Amazing and weird at the same time! This was our 4th location in Thailand and it was chosen because it's close to the airport, which it is, and offers airport shuttle service.
But our experience left a bit to be desired... it feels a bit like a hoarders' resort, a bit cluttered when looking at all the antiques but the villa was GREAT! Very spacious and the bedroom/pagoda was incredible!! The food was very hit and miss, our airport transfers were total opposites... pick-up was damn near disastrous while drop off went smoothly. Some might be put off by the airport and freeway noise but it had NO impact on our rest... slept wonderfully! And earplugs are provided in case you need them (we didn't). Wonderful little private pool, private yard, and great lakeside view! The swans are lovely... although noisy (we didn't mind them).

This was undoubtedly the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. To make matters worse it was our honeymoon and coincidentally the last night of our trip which only made the situation that much horrible. The hotel in itself is completely dated and in need of a remodel stat. That was our first impression, but we decided to look past that and enjoy our stay. So, we decided to try a massage since it was our last night and it was miserable! For starters you could hear not only the planes taking off over us like every 2 mins, but you could also here all the outside traffic. My wife couldn’t relax! On top of that the massage therapists were a poor excuse of a massage therapist. The lack of effort was unbearable. We had scheduled a 90 min and within 5 mins told them to knock it down to 60. The icing on the cake was the 2 hours of sleep we got that night. Every 10-15 mins planes would take off and you could hear them just as clear as if you were on the runway yourself. We even tried using the ear plugs and it still sounded as if someone was about to crash into our room. We finally got shut eye at 2:30 am and had to wake up at 4:30 am for our 27 hour flight back to US. What a great way to end our honeymoon huh? I think not. Reconsider this hotel please. I completely understand that the hotel is right next to the airport but that shouldn’t matter. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels right next to airports and have been able to have a good nights sleep.

This resort is close to airport and a bit pricey. We stayed here because of the uniqueness of the place. I probably would not stay again but do not regret my choice to stay here this one time. It was very clean and has the nicest employees i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy with their service. The breakfast bar was plentiful with a good selection of Thai/American food. Lunch however was very expensive. $45 usd for two hamburgers with fries. Went without dinner to save money. The pools are very clean and serene with a small waterfall that drowns out the noise of the airport. It is not close to anything so unless you want to take a taxi ride 45 minutes away then you are pretty much stuck but it is a nice place to recover from jetlag before heading out on your Thai Adventure. My daughter absolutely loved the comfort of the bedding and I loved the art and the kindness of the employees. We are ashamed that we did not research what Thai money is worth until after we left the resort. We sadly tipped the lovely waiters and waitresses 20 bht which equals out to 63 U.S cents. Feeling very ashamed!

Awesome stay!

Amazing stay. This resort is very very close to Suvarnabhumi Intl. Airport, literally 5 minutes ride.
The resort provides free shuttle service to airport.
The resort has its own restaurant that has fairly good choice of food items including Western food like burgers and fries.
My villa had its own pool which is a small pool but good enough to sit and relax in it.
There is a mall close by (Paseo mall). You can take a taxi to the mall that has 24 hrs. McDonald's. There is many other shops and restaurants in that mall.
There is also a 7-11 store at walking distance from this resort.
Overall my stay was excellent, and I'll stay here again.

Gorgeous property!

Got this room for my daughter for quick stay before catching a flight out. Hotel staff were so helpful and attentive! Even with a lady in the restaurant that was being rude to a staff member for no good reason they were still good. The hotel itself could not have been more beautiful. She had a great experience.

Runway oasis.

So relaxing to arrive here in the afternoon and spend relaxing time before flying out the next morning. The villas provide plenty of room, even for 3 women to share.

An Enchanting Property with Spacious Villas.

The property is amazing. Rich in Asian culture. The grounds are even more enchanting after dark, with lighting accentuating every feature. The staff are over-the-top friendly and courteous, making sure your every need is attended to. Restaurant cuisine is authentic and well presented. Only issues is the constant noise from take-offs and landing at the nearby airport and the mosquitoes.
