We gave the Phoenix a 3 star but it’s not a bad place. It’s basic but clean. The room was adequate. The staff is friendly and helpful. Location wise … there isn’t much of anything in walking distance. The neighborhood is definitely working class Thai, we didn’t find any eateries with translated menus. There is a 7-11 for basic supplies. The hotel is mostly a hangout for airplane spotters and photographers.

The area around the hotel, might to everyone's taste, but it is authentic Bangkok, & safe. I did not use the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel, but used the shuttle from the hotel to the airport, which runs once an hour. The hotel was clean, with regular re-supplies of coffee & water

I am always disappointed when you arrive and the hotel is under construction and you won’t informed of this. The staff did try to overcome this but not having a real front desk was a challenge. The hotel was noisy. Airport hotels have people coming and going at all hours but with no soundproofing, especially from hall into the rooms I heard everyone coming and going. So much for sleep! Included breakfast was good!

This hotel is convenient to get to or from the airport. They have a free shuttle to to pick you up at the airport or take you to the airport. The person at the front desk can help you book a tour for a reasonable price. The breakfast is very nice with several selections.
What we didn’t like about our room is that to get to the shower, you had to walk through the little room that had the toilet. Plus, the shower door was missing. By the time you were done in the shower, water was all over the floor. There was no soap by the vanity. To wash your hands, you had to get the liquid soap from the shower. There was no place to hang you towel.

Phoenix Hotel is Upgrading

The Phoenix Hotel Bangkok is really upgrading. The hotel management is renovating its rooms. I stayed in a remodeled room and it was very comfortable. The staff were nice and helpful. This hotel offers a reliable shuttle to the airport and a very good Thai restaurant. Good choice for BKK travelers looking for a place to spend an extended layover.

Nothing was bolted down. The bed moved, the shelf in the shower moved, the TV power button moved instead of turning on the TV. Also, we found ants all over the room. Not great. The hotel's only redeeming quality was its courteous and extremely efficient complimentary airport shuttle.

When we arrived at 2F arrivals at BKK, they had to call for the free shuttle. It was chaos, there were a lot of hotel pick up signage, so make sure you look for \"The Phoenix\". Tell the staff wearing all black to call the shuttle for you. We arrived after 5:30 pm, it was rush hour so the shuttle took 25 minutes to pick us up. The property is FAR from downtown Bangkok. We only stayed for 2 nights. Arriving around 7 pm on the first night at the hotel, we only ate at the restaurant on the first floor of the property (it was okay). The next day instead of taking the BTS train to Bangkok city center we just hired a taxi for 500Baht to take us to Sathorn Pier to purchase the Chao Phraya boat pass Note we were 4 adults, it was so worth it instead of walking to the BTS 15 min from the hotel and figuring out the train transfer etc. The taxi driver the hotel called was so nice, we made arrangements for him to pick us up at Asiatique at night for 700Baht. We got lucky as this might not be the norm for all taxi drivers. The room was very clean, no elevators (someone will help bring luggages up, but you need to bring it down yourself, wifi spotty sometimes). The area was so-so, I can't say it's not safe since we only went to 7-11 as far as venturing out goes. All in all for the price, it's good for a layover. We used the free shuttle at 5 am since our flight was scheduled at 8 am. It was the free round trip shuttle that made us stay at this hotel. Do not expect anything more.

Not A Deluxe Room or Stay

I wish I could give a higher rating due to friendliness of the staff but the condition of the rooms were not good enough.
The good: The quick, within 15 mins, pickup at the airport and very friendly helpful diver. He carefully loaded all out luggage and took us straight to hotel. The front desk lady was fast and friendly and had us off to our rooms quickly. The next morning the included breakfast was delicious, and served quickly and with a smile. I had coffee, orange juice and omelet meal.
The Bad: We booked 2 Deluxe rooms but the ones we received were below standard as far as I was concerned. One even smelled like a toilet, which they changed, we were so very tired after 30 hrs of travel that I did not want to argue the point. Will definitely not use this hotel again or recommend it to anyone. I will try to upload some photos taken of the hotel room and one showing the arm of the couch in waiting area,

The property is very close to the airport and has a 24 hour shuttle. But, the shuttle is only once every hour. Hence, if one arrives in the middle of the night it is very annoying to wait for an hour. The hotel provides shuttle only to the airport. It would be better if there is a shuttle drop-off and pickup at the Lat Krabang Rail link station. The internet is pretty decent and the restaurant is OK. There is no elevator. There are no decent restaurants close-by.

Staff was very friendly. I requested a very late check in and they happily catered for my request. Room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator access which was fine for me personally. Room was clean, air con was old and had broken grill but worked fine. The curtains were not thick enough to block the morning sun so I couldn’t get much sleep after a long and tiring flight. Airport shuttle service was a big positive. Leaves every hour.
Overall satisfaction 6/10 but you get what you pay for.

We stayed in the family suite and the layout of the room was great for our family of 3. The linens and towels were fresh and clean and the very large walk-in shower had a very nice rain showerhead. We opted for the breakfast which consisted of eggs, toast, coffee and juice. Everything tasted great. The staff is very friendly and the airport shuttle made our travel easy. You can meet the shuttle at door 4 in the arrivals area after you clear immigration. This hotel was a great value for the money. Highly recommend if you have a layover at the Bangkok Airport.

The hotel is what it is, a under $25 Hotel. It's in a slums kind of area but she just staying there for a one-nighter at 2 night or waiting for a flight I see no issue with this hotel. We had a total of 3 rooms, each has its own little issue weather was the hot water for the shower was a little bit on the fritz the bad was a little too springy or condensation coming out of the air conditioner. For once again this is under $25 and if you're staying for one or two nights this hotels the best bang for your buck, everyone's friendly the breakfast was good and the only loudness came from you can hear the planes taking off and Landing but I slept through it. A huge plus was how helpful the bellhops were with loading and unloading our luggage and taking us to and from the airport, my parents actually stayed here on their route into Thailand and needed to be picked up at 1:30 in the morning and they were there within 10 minutes to get them so that is a huge Plus. If I need to stay overnight one or two nights in Bangkok before leaving on a flight I will be staying here.

Best bang for your buck

I think they are renovating the hotel as one part seemed new and the part we stayed in was older. The hot water didn't work, but wasn't too cold. Bed was good, room small but for price ok. What made it excellent was the hotel picking us up at 1am within 10min. And they spoke English, huge plus after a long 24 hours of traveling. I'd give this place another try, especially after renovating.

The taxis have a hard time finding this place. Print out the address and phone number in both english and thai to help the driver out. I would do that with all the locations you are planning on using a taxi. The taxi drivers in Bangkok don't use their GPS since it's kind of spotty and google maps doesn't work that great. If I were to do it all over I would take a taxi to the airport and then catch their shuttle to the hotel. The place is located in a back alley. There is an airport shuttle at runs all hours what was very helpful since we had a 6:00 flight. It's cheap so it's a two star place at best.

The Phoenix hotel is great for a layover, probably not suitable for a longer stay. I've stayed here a couple of times, both times with an overnight of about 12 hrs, and the hotel staff are super efficient, they only ask to see your passport and what time you need the shuttle back to the airport, and then they run your bags up to the room. It's not a resort by any means, but it's clean and we sleep well here, and there's a kettle, coffee, tea and a fridge in the room, as well as air conditioning and hot water, so everything you need to make the most of a layover between long flights, and the price is less than a day pass for an airport lounge.

It was terrible experience there due to the conditions, cleanliness, and especially service!! It had no power cant use TV, no telephone, no hairdryer working without any notice!! Be aware of “NO LIFT”.
When we checked out we have 2 old ladies, myself and my dd and one of the staff just got mad as us and said “the trolley is not that heavy why can’t damn you bring it down!!” What!! We thought that we misunderstood what he just said but hello he said it again in front of us!! It was so disappointed and unimpressed at all!! I emailed them what happened to us but still no reply!! Never ever go back there again!!

This was just a one night stay to recover from jet lag rooms basic but clean wi-FI good . Pleasant reception staff . Shuttle from door 4 of arrivals was included in the price but it only operates once per hour 00 from hotel 15 from airport. Very pleasant cafe on the ground floor serving lovely Thai food. This hotel is adjacent to the Landing/departure flight path so expect some aircraft noise. Rooftop terrace which gives excellent photografic opportunities for aviation enthusiasts Good value for money

This is a great little hotel for travelers on a budget. It is good for people who need a place to sleep and are not spending the day at the hotel. We stayed here one night before our flight, they have shuttles to bkk airport. It was clean and just what we needed for the night. Just an fyi not recommended for light sleepers, you can hear the planes and thin walls. It is not a 5 star, but it is well lit and good customer service. I would stay here again for a layover or before a flight, its so close to the airport, about a 5-7 minute drive.

Great choice for BKK Overnight

GREAT choice for a quick overnight at BKK Airport. Free shuttle picks up and drops off every hour. Older building, no frills room, but comfortable bed. Quiet. Great sleep. Massage in lobby is good. Also massage down the road even cheaper. TONS of good street food close by within a block to the left. Cool temple to the right within a block.
