This is an excellent hotel in every way. Its is a good city location. ALL the staff are very professional and friendly and help you with every need that you have. The rooms are very spacious, spotless and have every creature comfort like air con, tv, very good shower and a comfy bed. The lounge and terrace areas are fabulous and great for relaxing or working. The pool is very refreshing. The food and beverages are excellent and well priced. Generally is wonderful value for money and I will go back there every time. Thank you

They had glass on the floor in their hallway. While trying to get ice a piece of the glass went into my foot. Not only did I have to go to the hospital but they refused to pay for the medical bill. The receptionist was hitting on my girlfriend. The swimming pool is incredibly small. Does not look like the pool advertised. It is very shallow and would be good for kids but not for adults

In centre of town, short walk to waterfront. Very quiet with basicano traffic noise. Has nice deck/pool area for quiet drink and relax. Food at restaurant was good with variety of dishes.

Issue checking in as they had no record from Hotels.com (booking had been made and paid for 9 months prior) took time but eventually was sorted.

This hotel staff here are very proud of their hotel (now the Onomo brand) and were responsive to our queries which were very few. It is conveniently located in downtown, close to many banks and other major institutions allowing for easy movement. Excellent Gym; Pool is small but clean. Our only issue was the internet per device which frustrated us from time to time as we logged in after a long drive from Nairobi unaware of the rules, which was frustrating. Good breakfast spread. Comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Good value for money.

The service in the restaurant really is the only thing that let's this hotel down. I twice went there and sat outside with clients and each time staff walked past inside and looked through the window but just ignored us. After 20 minutes I had to get up to get service. The 2nd time i was there on my own sitting in the shade. It took so long the sun moved round to the table. As I got up to move they finally asked if I wanted anything by which time I had had enough. This is not an isolated incident. I have stayed there many times and it is only the service from the restaurant that let's it down. The bell boys are great and so helpful Reception staff and housekeeping good. Nice rooms. good location. The food and beverage manager really needs to get his act together

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and the food is AMAZING!!! The concierge Osman arranged a day trip to Zanzibar for me with transportation to and from as well as a tour guide once I arrived in Zanzibar. He was extremely helpful. The only recommendation I have is to freshen the air in the hallways of the floors with either better ventilation or air freshener in the vents or carpet.

When I ordered a snack for in-room dining, the staff was not aware about the menu and the pricing, in fact I would have been over charged. Fortunately, I did not order much food items.
I met a couple of my friends from India on 15th night at dinner, they have ordered food which took more than an hour though these items were readily available at the buffet counters. But when served it was not what they had ordered.
Also I could see a family group which was having dinner (for their wedding anniversary) verbally complaining about the service to the manager. They expressed their dissatisfaction on the service.

Hotel is nice, but services are horrible. Reception lacks of hospitality, making you not want to come back again, even though the room is clean and modern. Had some hot water issues in the room; but because of the attitudes of the receptionist (including the manager), did not even bother. This shows why service matters. I will not book this hotel again.

A good property but very small rooms. The service is appalling in a word......my steak inedible - went to the rooftop restaurant and ordered a seafood platter but eventually gave up and went to bed as it took so long it was just annoying.....
I will return but armed with a list of restaurants to eat at locally.....staff that stood out for GREAT service were Ruhia at reception, and Amani and Omary - the rest of the staff I interacted with were surly and far more interested in their smartphones than the customers, felt as if the customers were a nuisance.....the manager that I spoke with upon departure was very pleasant and promised to \"look into my comments\"
Lastly the pool was unusable, see picture....

I've stayed here almost since they opened and one consistent thing is the awful service in the 6th floor restaurant and bar. The restaurant and bar were not very busy at all. After eventually getting a menu i ordered a tuna sandwich. 45 minutes later i had to ask for it. When it came i asked for the bill. After another 25 minutes i just got up and informed reception that i am going to my room. Nothing has changed over the years. The rest of the hotel is fine. The bell boys at the front door are excellent. Especially Righteous. The food and beverage manager needs to address the training of the service staff

The place is lovely.Wonderful ambience. Friendly customer care. LOUSY HOUSEKEEPING! Stayed 3 nights and they recycled the SHEETS. They did not put new sheets or even replenish toiletries. After complaing to the manager the complaint was not even followed up. I'm even doubting I got new sheets to begin with!!!!!

Nice hotel with great view of the Indian ocean, over the golf course in down town Dar. Walk to Dar museum, conference center, harbor, shopping. Very accomodating with shuttle bus to airport, 45 mins away, depending on traffic.

Fire in Room Next Door - Hotel Response Pathetic

There was a fire in the room next to mine on the 7th floor. I stepped out to see staff standing around in the hall. Then I smelled burning and saw smoke. One staff ran past me - did not even look at me. By now my room was filling with smoke. I travel light so took my bag and briefcase and headed for the stairs. No one said anything to me. I got through the door to the stairs and dropped some things. While picking them up a man in a suit came through the door, walked past to look out the window and said to himself, \"I think it will be alright.\" No information, no guidance, no assistance. I asked him if this was how his hotel managed crises. His reply? \"I'm the financial controller.\" So not his area, not his problem. I got to the lobby on 6. Behind me a voice said 'did you come from 7?’ It was a woman from the back office. I was struggling with my things and asked her if she could help me with my briefcase so I could set up in the breakfast room - about 20 feet away. I handed it to her and turned to the breakfast room. Then she said, with disgust in her voice, 'I can't carry this.' Those exact words. She refused to help me. Put the bag down. This is a terrible reflection on the hotel. What is more serious than incompetence on safety? And the behavior of that woman and management was unconscionable. I had to ask for a new room myself. No one approached me to check in or explain. I will never stay there again and I will be writing to Ramada corporate HQ.

Hotel in City Centre

We (2 pax) stayed for 2 nights. The hotel about 15 km from the airport and 10 mins drive to the Ferry Terminal if if you want to go the Zanzibar. Since we had whole day sight seeing on both days, we were not able to enjoy and rate the other facilities of the hotel. We delayed flight and arrived very late and had the hotel car waiting for us. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy, buffet breakfast was very acceptable. Mr. Kartik the Manager was very helpful and gave suggestions on local food and places to see in Dar Es Salam. Overall we very happy with our stay. Remember to plan your travel to airport since it may take twice as much time during mornings and evenings due to traffic jams.

The Hotel is in an excellent location for doing business in DAR. It is very fresh and clean. The food both in restaurant and room service very quick and excellent (big) portions. Free wi-fi however not the fastest.. Business center was very accommodation and big thanks to them. The only negative thing is the elevators that delayed a lot and with only two of them and reception on 6th floor it does annoy somehow.. Otherwise I am happy to have found this hotel and now having a choice for all my future visits to DAR... good value for the money definitely.

I would not recommend this hotel. Although the rooms are quite nice, we were not happy to find that the pool had been closed for a year. I did not receive notice of this from Expedia and would not have stayed here. When I complained about this, they said its on all the websites ( I checked again on Expedia and could not find it!) and that rates were much lower on the day of check in so we were looking for some accommodation on price to make up for the pool being unavailable, the manager's response was that all sites say this. We booked 3 in a room and they knew we considered getting a second room so their accommodation was to offer us a 2nd room for an up charge of $25. Not much of an accommodation. We ate in the deli restaurant and I ordered a burger after the waiter guaranteed it would be very good. The bun was rock hard. I could press with my fingers and it would not compress. I got an apology and an offer for another order, but I was very hungry and had already eaten a lot of it so did not bother. They didn't even give us a discount on the burger! The location is downtown, and there is nothing for tourists nearby. Genereally there is not much for tourists in Dar Es Salaam.

I stayed here with a friend prior to going on safari.We had a car to meet us at the airport.We were greeted by one of the senior staff who greeted us by name.The bedroom had two queen size beds and room spotless,
staff were very welcoming.We had a drink on the rooftop bar,and a meal in the restaurant where a table had been reserved and a bottle of champagne courtesy of my husband plus chocolate cake.
Just one tiny problem on leaving we had left the key card in our room and was told we could not leave until we found it.This was told to us by a female receptionist.Just a minor incident.A driver collected us the next morning to take us to coastal airport for our flight to Ruhaha.
I would definately stay there again.

Great hotel, great location, very clean

I would highly recommend this hotel. I usually stay at the Hyatt and while the Hyatt has its luxurious perks, the value at the Ramada cant be beat. As many of you know, a new hotel is priceless. And the rooms are large and comfortable. I didn't eat there but you shouldn't need to because you're within 5 mins walking distance to several good restaurants in the area. Walking distance to the ferry to Zanzibar.

An excellent business hotel. Clean, modern, good staff and good selection at breakfast.
The only down side is the elevator. The programming is totally wrong.If you press to go down, the elevator comes but if someone presses on a higher floor it goes up. I have spent so much time going up to the 13th floor when from 7 all i want to do is go to 6!! It is the same the other way round. you press to go up but you can finish going to ground before going up. Please fix it.

When we asked to get another set of towels at front desk as there were two of us ... it never happened.
There were only two very small bottles of drinking water in the room ... so we asked for another one and it never came.
There was no hot water to take a warm shower.
We have stayed at this hotel several times and these problems did not happen at that time ... so a training improvement is needed.

I checked in very late but still found staff very helpful.Rooms are very well decorated and the food was good although the buffet seemed abit pricey.Breakfast was good and varied.I also liked the business centre as it had all the amenities i wanted.Love the hotel central location as was easy to get to the Zanzibar ferry.Definitely will make this my preferred choice hotel when visiting Dars again.

Not a great experience at Ramada.

The location is good as it is at the heart of the commercial district but that is about it. The food was horrible at the coffee shop and the staff seemed clueless and slow - calls to reception went unanswered almost always.

The concierge tried to over charge me for a taxi - quote $25 for a 15 minute ride, which i negotiated down to $10, but upon arrival the taxi driver harassed me into paying $15. That was the cab booked by the hotel !

Rooms are a bit tight on space for clothes for an extended stay. Bathroom very nice and spacious. Staff was very professional. Good choices were a bit limited and the hotel is noisy from the bus station it overlooks and from wind leaking around poorly sealed windows. Comfortable affordable safe haven in Dar Es Salaam

The Ramada Encore is relatively new and situated in downtown Dar Es Salaam about 3 short blocks from the Convention Center. The Police Station is down the block, and there is an ATM across the street and several others around the corner. The breakfast buffet comes with the room, and it features local, western and Indian choices, and an omelette chef will make your eggs to order. The 13th floor bar/restaurant is a nice place to hang out in the cool evenings (no mosquitoes). The rooms are fairly small but well appointed, although they lack any drawers for underwear and clothes, so your suitcase will be your main \"clothing drawer.\" The aircon control was hard to figure out, and even on the lowest setting the room was cold (but if you turn it off you will be too hot). The elevators function but sometimes have a mind of their own (you press down and it goes up to an empty floor). Staff are very friendly and helpful and tipping does not appear to be the norm.

I usually stay at the Serena but they have building work so chose Ramada Encore and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are not so big but very smart and fully equiped. Good selection of TV chanels. The breakfast buffet was OK. As is usual in Africa cooking eggs as you like them is very hard for them but the selection was OK.
The staff were helpful.
The only issue was on the last morning when after I showered I noticed the water was not running away and then there was a terrible smell of sewerage . The housekeeping staff worked hard to fix the problem.
I would stay again when in Dar es Salaam

The only negative is the traffic condition outside the hotel. It takes 30 min. just to get inside the hotel lane from main road. Keep more than sufficient time if going to airport.
