Personal sehr freundlich, Pool und Wellnessbereich sehr schön. Zimmer war sauber. Barte war zwar nur eine Duschwanne, aber alles sauber. Auch diverse Reinigungs und Körperlotion waren vorhanden. Am Schreibtisch war nur schwerer zugänglich eine Steckdose generell zu wenig Steckdosen um zum Beispiel Tablet oder Handy aufzuladen. Zimmer ist sehr ruhig da Doppeltür zum Flur hier und da ist das ein oder andere etwas in aber alles in allem gut

Despite the fact that everything seemed nearly perfect, there are some things to be considered: The room was immaculate apart from the unusable toilet brush. Absolutely wonderful hotel, in a really beautiful senior suite room. Price was reasonable however after spending €350+ for our one-night stay, I was asked to pay an extra 50 cents as they got the price wrong. Found this a bit strange since it was an error on their side and they would not look over such a small amount. Any other 5 star hotel would laugh over such a small additional charge!

Other than that it was a perfect stay, wonderful swimming pool and a great breakfast. Definitely recommend and will visit again!

Guest areas are a bit tired, but communal areas and pool are very nice. There was a conference on the day we arrived, so many places were inaccessible. Staff were very accommodating in checking us in slightly early due to a wedding and young family. Would stay again.

pros: best smiling staff. everybody's friendly and cordial. pool, sauna and gym are more than adequate. quite near to the downtown. breakfast and dinner options are just great.
cons: bathroom floor was not clean. water was free for the first night only. Cmon guys it's only water. coffee machine was very limited with no cream or milk or decaf options. no microwave or fridge.

My wife and I stayed for four nights. We were in Aachen to spend a couple of days at Carolus Thermen, which was a 15 minute walk across the park. In the other direction there were half a dozen good pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. All very convenient. The front desk and bar staff were all friendly. We found the bed to be a bit soft for our liking.

Good location. Great history of the town. Did several localhistory tours, all reasonably priced. Some nice cafes and shops. 10 minute walk to town centre. Hotel staff excellent and friendly. Room spacious but a little tired, namely curtains and bath panel.
I would stay here again if i was in the area.

Needs refurbishment

Refurbishment is required, not the smart, high class hotel that we stayed at three years ago on our last visit to Aachen. We booked a superior king size room but were given a twin room, rather dowdy, stained carpet marked walls. Phoned reception said this is not the room we booked, we were advised reception will call us back, but did say the hotel was fully booked. We waited almost 30 mins, just sitting in the room, no call came. We went to reception, given a different room, queen bed, very small TV that slide out of a cupboard, not a great place if you want to watch TV in bed. Blind in bathroom wouldn’t go up. Breakfast was OK, but asked a staff member if they had a toaster, she said she didn’t know. Chef cooks your toast. Overall not value for the money we paid.

Good hotel especially for all quieter ones

The service is outstanding and the staff are helpful. The rooms are well cleaned and the housekeepers are responsible. The location is about ten minutes walk from city centre and suitable to those who prefer quieter environment. The only drawback is that it is a bit old, as seen on wallpaper or something like that; yet still very acceptable. Overall, an excellent hotel and I will recommend to my peers.

The hotel has great location and the spa is ok. However, the restaurant was not child friendly for dinner so we went out in stead. The service for breakfast was like a Ibis Hotel- the waiter wanted us to sit at two different tables. We insisted on sitting as a family at had to wait 15 minutes. The buffet was almost cleared out and not filled up quickly and we had to ask repeatedly for water, tea etc. The hotel is really too expensive to allow such bad service.

Lovely hotel in fantastic location

This hotel was great! The location was excellent for a 10 minute walk into the centre of Aachen.
The hotel facilities were spot on, the room was comfortable and the pool area was very relaxing.
We didn't use the bar area as we chose to go into the town instead bir the lounge area looked large amd comfortable.
We had breakfast and the choice was extensive, would definitely stay here again and would recommend.

bathroom was dirty, the toilet had a few stains in the bowl and the toilet brush was still in the bowl, some urine stains on the floor too..due to checking in late in the evening housekeeping was not available. The receptionist tried to remedy the situation but without cleaning equipment was unable to.
The room was decent , spacious but the bathroom was dated.
Generally speaking staff really did try their best.
Bottom line very nice property, dated interiors , well priced, eager service but clearly understaffed

Small things stopped me from giving a really good review:
- the breakfast buffet regularly ran out of items/was not replenished very quickly
- no one was available to help with luggage when we arrived
- the curtains in the room were ripped
- in room toiletries and coffee were not replenished consistently

what a bad hotel, the room was big but empty!
we had room number 404 under the roof.... there was only a bed, som chairs, a view thing on furniture.
only the quality of the bed was oke.
not enough for a 5 star hotel ! not al all....
the carpet was dirty.
The breakfast was not great.
we will never come back.
The hotel is over the hill, needs very much an upgrade

Beautiful huge hotel in Aachen. The room was a little bare but probably because it was huge. The bathroom was lovely. Ate at the restaurant which was beautiful and very good value for money. Our 4 year old was catered for as well by a very attentive waitress. Great stay to finish off our trip around Germany and Belgium.

The hotel itself is quite nice, but the rooms are worn and old. You can see that in its time, it was true luxury. The years however have left their mark on the rooms. Worn wallpaper, worn and stained carpets detract from what could be a 5 star property. It's a 4 star at best.

One small pet peeve, how do you get a 5 star rating with no coffeemaker in the room? That's a basic amenity these days and our room was without one.

Gorgeous hotel with GREAT Breakfast Buffet

Very nice hotel. Breakfast buffet was one of the best, really great. A good 15 min walk to the Cathedral, Treasury & Kings Hall (all very much worth a visit). LOTS of shopping & restaurants in the same area.
Our room was very nice with LOTS of room & storage. Even the bathtub / shower were heated (I love Germany!). Aachen still has a few towers from its walled city days that are great to tour. Can't wait to return in Spring or Summer. The Concierge had great stories of famous people who had stayed there: Monet, Churchill, Clinton, Dylan.

Too many problems to recommend

Thought I would try this as a change from the Novotel
The building is impressive but the room was a bit worn and small , with no kettle -waking with no cup of tea is difficult for the English but maybe this is not a problem for others.
The bar food was not bad but I would not recommend the breakfast as it was very crowded and I gave up trying to get food and managed to get a coffee from another persons table who kindly let me take some of theirs so if you have the choice I would skip the breakfast option it costs around 15 euro and after losing that I got a bun and a decent coffee a few minutes walk away for 3.9 euro and was able to relax.
The final annoyance was they billed me in sterling without asking and this causes me administrative problems with my expense report which means another 1/2 hour phoning our accounts to get an exception. Needless to say I moved back to the Novotel the next night.

Old fashioned bathroom, single room was spacious however the bed was a converted sofa with super soft, unhealthy mattress. Breakfast service staff rather grumpy and unhelpful. Breakfast selection okay but not 5 star.

Poor aircon and TV channel choice

The hotel and staff are generally good, however the aircoditioning is not! This is the third time I've stayed here and the aircon does not work efficiently.

Also, the TV channel choice is large with 150 channels to choose from, but more BBC channels would be great! (BBC1 and 2)?

Don't miss the breakfast!

This hotel was recommended by some coworkers who stay here when they travel on business and my wife and I were very happy with it. Great location for walking downtown or driving just about anywhere. Beautiful property, too. Staff was friendly and helpful with the language barrier. The room was small and had lots of scuffs and scrapes from what seemed like years of use and abuse, but we weren't there to spend time in the room.

Great location , and the owners just couldn't have been more helpful when our car developed a fault . Sadly , we were taken out to dinner each night and so were unable to try the restaurant for dinner , but the menu made it sound very delicious . The breakfast was 5 star . Thank you .

This older style Hotel had an elegance and grace not seen in the more modern 5 star Hotels. The rooms were spread out over a large area, beds large and comfortable, staff helpful. The breakfast was superb with freshly cooked omlettes and eggs to order. Quiet Location with park surrounds. Suggest taxi from Station (about 7 euros). 10 minute walk to centre of old town.

The air conditioning was ineffective, room temperature was 26 degrees!!

We had two rooms booked and both were at this temperature.

After complaining several times I was offered another room, this was better - but still rather warm.

Elegant hotel in a famous city

We had an overall very good experience. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the major attractions in the center of Aachen, but we liked exercise. Some parts of the hotel are showing some wear such as the carpets. The Elephant Bar had a great atmosphere with wood and paintings. The restaurant was excellent. The spa could use renovation. The pool was large and indoor which was useful on a rainy day.

Sadly the grandeur of the hotel does not make up for the lack of care to the guest rooms. My husband and I stayed here in May for a friend's wedding and were disappointed in the lack of care for the rooms. Also it has to be the only hotel I have ever stayed in that provide two single duvets on a king sized bed. When enquiring with the staff about this they told me it was a Pullman standard. I work in the hospitality industry (in design) and this was definitely a first for me. The air con units were old and did not work and would create loud noises every time they were switched on (which was a nightmare as the rooms were incredibly hot). Also after not being provided with water on the first night and having to take it from the mini bar, it yet again did not appear on the remaining nights. Attention to detail was incredibly limited.

The staff are friendly and handled some of our situations well considering the language barrier and the breakfast was nice. If only the guest rooms were to the standard of the public areas I would recommend this hotel.

This is a luxury hotel with a nice swimming pool and saunas but no jacuzzis. Downside is the restaurant which is very expensive and most of the food is much too salty. The heating system was not really adequate - in March I needed a heavy blanket to keep warm.

Nicely decorated grand and spacious hotel with an impressive spa however when we enquired to book spa treatments we were told they were fully booked for the duration of our stay which was very disappointing. However after we complained they were able to fit us in through ‘cancellations’. It was quite apparent the hotel was short staffed and not just in the spa, both room service and bar snacks service took an extraordinary long time. Staff were friendly and apologetic but it was a disappointment. Additionally our room was left with the unpleasant smell of body odour after the cleaners had been to make up the room. Finally contrary to the information supplied our room did not have pay per view movies available and there was a poor selection of English TV channels.
