Beach was beautiful. Only issues we had were with our air conditioning unit having a broken fan that made a loud grating noise on every start stop (blades hitting casing) and they started roofing work at 8am.

Expedia sold us the wrong room at a high price, after paying 18 thousand aus we had to fork out more when we arrived to get what we thought we paid for. Not able to contact Expedia leave RTP to fix the Expedia problem and in turn charge us more.

I like to take a moment to thank the Return to Paradise family for their hospitality, kindness, responsiveness, and their attention to detail. This was my first trip to Samoa and I could not have chosen a better resort to get a true feel of Samoan hospitality, culture and vibe. The hotel name is very fitting because it’s literally paradise. If you’re planning to explore Samoa, then I would recommend getting a car since the resort is on the other side of the island (opposite side of Apia). But if you are looking for a resort that makes you feel like you’re family, provides cozy accommodations, has a private beach and amazing facilities then you need to book Return to Paradise.

The biggest issue was the air conditioning in both rooms I booked in. I had to move rooms for my last night and it was like a sauna. 3 times I advised reception and they assured me they would fix it but didn’t nor did they move me to a room because there wasn’t a room that had working aircon. Dining experience was dismal with mixup in orders or food not arriving. Tv wasn’t working, no dishwashing liquid. Overall experience- 7/10

The property has a good feel about it. The staff being family or extended family makes a difference. They seem to care more. The gardens are lush and give the resort a nice feel. The coral off the beach is amazing but does make it hard to swim as you’re trying to be careful not to hit it and injure yourself. The facilities and rooms are a dated but they do their best to keep them clean and presented well. The food was really nice. Drinks and cocktails awesome. Need more beach towels.

The rooms floor was filthy when we checked in, like our feet were always dirtier from walking around the room.

We had a double and single bed, the single bed still had sand in it when we used it.

The window in the room, at the top of the ceiling, had a thin curtain which didn’t do anything to block daylight. When the sun was up, we had to get up since the light shined right through the room. We were looking forward to sleeping in.

We had a tv which required a US adapter and the resort didn’t provide a US adapter.

The room phone didn’t work, we had to call reception using our cellphones each time we needed something.

Housekeeping forgot to lock our back door when we came back from being out for the day which was not reassuring for the security of our stuff.
They also helped themselves to BCAA gummies which was easy to notice since we had a new packet with 40, we only used 6 and when we left there were only 20 gummies in the packet.

Outside entrance was dangerously slippery and the floor boards were rotting.

The shower drain sump cover was not secure and kept slipping off which was really dangerous, especially having a toddler.

Some good things:
Amazing staff like Victoria from the bar was always so helpful.

The beach was beautiful and amazing, but it’s only safe at low tide with kids. Fish and crabs were abundant!

The food was okay but limited to one restaurant and no room service for mums who can’t go to the restaurant when your toddler sleeps early.

The Resort was lovely and so were some of the facilities and majority of the staff were so kind and lovely as well as the locals. However we did have some issues with our room booking as we needed two beds and were provided with one. This was however fixed in the morning but there were issues as we could not access the wifi even after it was fixed, from there we had issues with reception with two of our bookings with the facilities, our reservation was moved without notice at the spa resulting in us missing out on one of the services and when booking for the Wednesday show at the resort our booking was no where to be found after confirming 3 different ways. Other than these issues we did have a lovely time with the pools, the bars and our beach front room. The majority of staff were kind and friendly and we would highly recommend the beach and waterfall tour offered was an amazing experience.

We have travelled extensively and vacationed in many resorts, Las Vegas a number of times, we won't be going back.
As RTP is not a corporate chain resort and is family owned and operated I was initially concerned that I may not have chosen the right place.
At first, I had difficulty thinking how I would define our stay at Return to Paradise. The following is genuine and from the heart.
Return to Paradise is not a 5-star resort, it’s not the Sheraton, it's not the Hilton, it's better, it’s a 5-star home in a resort with a 5-star family making your vacation 5-star.
On our day of departure, I genuinely did not want to leave. I had a feeling of belonging; which is attributable to the RTP people.
I would like to thank all of the staff, the lads doing the shows, which were way beyond our expectations. Mika who is exceptional, He is the man with multi skills that can handle nearly everything and making sure we were well looked after nothing was a problem.
Ramona the glue that binds everything together in a subtle, reassuring, and calm way. A lovely genuine lady
With the corporate resorts you do get excellent service, BUT what you don't get is a sincere and genuine experience as afforded by RTP
We will definitely be returning to Paradise sooner rather than later. It’s now our top winter destination. If I could I would be there tomorrow.
On the business side, to my fellow Kiwi's, our dollar doesn’t get us much when we travel, Samoa and RTP is affordable including spa treatments, the

I really loved our garden room - spacious and clean. The facilities were great too - we enjoyed attending the Fathers Day church service. The snorkeling was good out the front of the resort for about 90 minutes either side of low tide. We used the table tennis and pool tables too. Unfortunately the only downside were the reception staff who appeared jaded 😕 Unfortunately there was some confusion about happy hour times depending on which printout you read, limited snorkels, and no USB movies. All these were understandable but it was the attitude of the staff that was the most disappointing aspect for me.

Wonderful snorkeling right out the front of the resort and along the side of the resort. The best number of fish we've ever seen snorkeling . Water is crystal clear. Coral is also beautiful. The Giant clam sanctuary is within pushriding distance (30 tala each for half day hire from the resort which was cheaper than the 120 tala tour the resort charges). Clam santuary was 20 tala each to enter. Not many activities offered at the resort but plenty of tours. Perfect place to sit by the ocean, read and relax. Tours are expensive through the resort- we hired taxi and visited all the places we wanted to go to. Taxis are set by government so easy and reliable to get the resort to book. Eg taxi from international airport to resort was 70 tala instead of paying 63 tala each for the shuttle. Overall, we LOVED our stay. Highly recommend!

We were a family of adults and a teenager. We loved the family atmosphere in the resort and among staff. The villa was great and exceeded our expectations. The fully equipped kitchen worked well with us also having a hire car to get about and do a bit of shopping. The staff were always helpful and many genuinely seemed to enjoy their job and it showed in their smiles and happiness to help. The evening shows were terrific. The food was good - generally nice simple dishes and we loved the fresh raw fish. The resort catered well towards families and this seemed to generally be reflective of the guests staying (didn't notice any high-end guests or drunken young ones). The beach is nice - small but big enough for the number of guests on-site. We loved the remote jungle beachside location rather than being in an urban area. The back story of the resort being built by the local villages is amazing and shows in the reciprocal support they show each other. The snorkelling was great (coming from a novice in snorkelling). We were crazy enough to use the gym a couple of times - it's small as expected but has plenty of modern equipment in an airconditioned room. We did have some issues with Aircon in our room leaking and plumbing problems but we weren't going to let these minor problems get in the way of a good holiday. There's an ATM in reception which helped us to avoid credit card fees. They don't stock sunscreen in the resort shop so bring plenty! Pretty cocktail options would be good

Return to paradise really is a beautiful place. It is remote but easy to get transport if need anything.
Down side were charges that shouldnt be on bill so its good to check daily. To resolve.
We had missing charges and extra charges we didnt have.
Massgae lady Va is superb.
Manicure was poor and not what stated. The lady knew she didnt provide full service. They confirmed and advised would update the billing sheet. At paying bill they hadnt updated as promised, so that was issue at paying the bill.
Lady at desk handled it extremely well considering unable to verbally verify. She only by her sheet.
We had write a note of what happened.
Room service were very lovely and more than happy to help with any requests.
Place is indded a place of relaxation and rejuventuon and things to do if you wish.

Rated this average mainly on the fact that the airport transfer to pick me up on arrival which they had confirmed in an email to me was simply not there. Arriving to a country on your own in the evening to find no taxi or transfer to the resort was a major fail. That said the service and staff are well mannered and polite, although the front of house girls do not appear to be able to book or make reservations very well, given the standard of English is very good. The facial I booked in advance didn't appear to have been reserved at the spa when I arrived. It was a good professional classical facial although not the prescribed 60 mins, only 50 mins. Neck and shoulder massage did not feature for me. Rock Pool bar by far has the best service, these guys know what they are doing. The service in the main dinning area and cafe is lacking (20 mins for a coffee with a barista who seemed distracted or ignoring female customers over male ones). But this is the islands. They are missing a few tricks in the cafe area, espeically with such a large NZ and Australian customer base. For instance - emtpy chiller cabinet ? Was disappointed with some of the portion sizes as well, in rock pool bar and cafe as well. That said the food is fresh. Houskeeping was good although the sheets had stains on (hotter wash needed!). Location is fab, if you want beach, palms and lots of swimming and snorkelling with a vast array of marine life with activities for kids run by hotel with Gary Cooper connection

This was our second stay at return to paradise and we were sadly disappointed. My initial issue was our garden villa, it was very large and more space than we needed but for the first two nights the shower/bathroom stunk like septic. The second time we complained we were moved to another room and given a WST$250 resort credit for the inconvenience which we were happy with. However the beds were so hard, it was only by night 3 or 4 (of our four night stay) that we were able to sleep, one night my husband slept on the couch, apparently they were new beds but the firmest beds we’ve ever slept on. The service was a little slow at the rock pool bar, orders missed or taking 45 minutes to arrive…but on my last day when I ordered chicken curry I was shocked to discover a chicken fillet in my curry that was completely raw (not cooked at all) and this left me feeling angry, as I have a very sensitive stomach, had just recovered from 3 days of upset tummy, and having had both selmonella and giardia in the past, I thought this was completely unacceptable from a food safety perspective. My chicken curry had arrived last after my family had all finished eating, and there was the odd completely raw fillet (I ate two mouthfuls which I think were cooked), I’ve never come across this in my entire life. In the end we were not charged for lunch, but I felt my complaints/concerns of food safety were not heard by the staff members. Unfortunately we probably won’t be back for a third visit.

The resort itself is in a beautiful spot and the rooms are fantastic , even our garden room had a wonderful view of the ocean , however some of the staff were outright nasty which surprised me as all the other resorts we stayed at the staff were so friendly. We had booked the buffet breakfast with our 5 night stay but at check in the receptionist rudely told us that they would not honour that as we had booked through a 3rd party ( Expedia ) we were very disappointed as we had budgeted that in our costs , we even approached the guests services manager Mikeal but he was not interested in helping us at all , then we went to the bar on Mother’s Day at Happy Hour and when we questioned why we were not getting happy hour prices the barmaid actually screamed at us that happy hour was over but it was not it was a special later happy hour for Mother’s Day , we had to pay full prices for our drinks but was refunded the next day from the manager however it was just so unprofessional and unfriendly of the waitress to call us out like that in front of all the other guests. Then last but not least the food was very very ordinary , we ended up getting a cab to a nearby convenience store and bought snacks/ food to eat in our room .There were still lots of lovely staff who were very helpful and friendly so all in all we still enjoyed our time there .

Lovely resort beach, friendly and nice staff. Good tours organised by the resort. There is a healthy coral reef just on the beach with great snorkeling. The room was nice and clean, the only downside was that the room we had wasn’t very soundproof. If you are sensitive to sound the beach villas is probabaly a better option but we weren’t bothered.

The facilities are beautifully designed and gives you a real polynesian feeling.

The resort is the largest locally owned and they have cultural evenings and fire shows which were great. Most of the sites are dotted around the island so it pays to have a car.
The people are really lovely and we were very sad to leave at the end of our stay.

Never been to Samoa before, initially loved the location as it’s closer than others to all the activities and has fantastic snorkelling straight off the beach. Staff were super friendly and helpful when we had any questions.
Main down side for us was the food was pricey for what you got however they did have some great dishes with the chicken curry, bbq night and cabana cafe during the day with fresh tuna sushi, prawn Vietnamese salad and delicious Cuban panini (again pricier than places outside the resort) best options for food is around Apia which is 50min drive from the resort.

Overall we had really great service and experience during our stay, watch out at the end to check your bill as I think sometimes the room number isn’t noted down correctly however if you let them know you didn’t make that order they’ll take off your bill so no real worries there.

Shout out to Tia and Loa who helped teach my husband Samoan greetings which we loved practising. Would definitely look to stay here again when we’re next in Samoa

3 days in paradise !

AmazIng location, stunning views, this hotel sits on a private beach. I liked the beautiful rooms interior and private decks, 3 pools and different places as to choose for breakfast, lunch or dinner with shows and dances on occasions.
Staff is friendly, trying to make you feel well all the time with a big smile on their faces, girls a nice flowers on their hair. .
I just was a bit disappointed not finding a fresh coffee included for breakfast, missing a more consistent items like bread other than white, cheese, tropical fruits usually found on 4 stars hotels.

My family had a wonderful stay at this hotel in 3 bedrooms villa for 7 days where the relaxed ambience and tropical vibe made for the perfect getaway. The lush garden surrounding the property added to the serene atmosphere, and the ocean view was absolutely stunning, providing a peaceful backdrop throughout my stay. The service was exceptional—every staff member was friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make my experience memorable. The food, while delicious, is a bit on the pricier side, but given the quality and the beautiful setting, it’s worth it for a special treat. Overall, it’s a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature, with a level of service that really makes you feel at home. Highly recommend!

The resort exceeded my already high expectations. The check in process was easy and I was escorted to my room. I had a beach front suite, doors that opened out to the sea and white sand.

The food was always excellent, cocktails nice and strong and the restaurant staff always very attentive.

In general, all resort staff were so friendly, welcoming and would go above and beyond to make sure my stay was exceptional. You can book tours through the resort and I’d definitely recommend doing this.

Very much enjoyed my stay, will recommend to all friends and I’ll hope to come back some day.

The beauty of the white sand, the waves crashing against the shore, the clearness of the blue water, made this trip so relaxing and serene. It was off season, but the hotel and staff served us well, friendly smiles all around, Mele at the spa worked her magic with my massage and facial, food and drinks offered were tasty and we had a great stay, would definitely come back on a future trip.

Lovely resort, very relaxing. Food excellent. In house operated tours and shuttle, fantastic. Staff very helpful, happy & smiling. Culture entertainment evening & fire/ knife show hosted by in house staff ( island winners ) with everyone enjoying every moment and full of enthusiasm. Snorkelling straight off beach, amazing colourful coral and hundres of really colourful fish - best ever (beats barrier reef) as can get so close up and water shallow enough to use snorkel whille standing up. Very quiet after 9pm. Problems with room 408 but maintenance sorted out following day although we realised on check out day AC not working correctly and room very damp - we put it down to humidity and heavy tropical rain but they were sorting it

We had a lovely week with great friends - however the rooms weren’t serviced as stated, we had to ask for towels and toilet paper. The spa that we booked and paid for wasn’t there and the 3 bedroom villa was 3x 1bedroom apartments and all separate.

Return to Paradise is a truly special place. For us it was important to support the island not a large multi national which was one of the reasons for choosing here. We absolutely made the right choice and felt like one of the family. The reef directly in front of the hotel is superb, the trips were wonderful (the turtles and giant clams were a highlight for me). It was a genuine home away from home, not a flashy faceless resort. We certainly loved it.

We had our wedding here on the 24th Sep 2024 and it was a beautiful day. Appreciate our wedding coordinators Florrie Semu and Sina Lemalu for making our dream come true. Food was great and recommendations made by the two were well received by our guests. Thank you.

We stayed here for 10 days. Our room was great and very spacious. The aircon was a little weak but didn’t bother us too much as we were out in Apia everyday. Our room was cleaned on the daily and the staff respected our privacy when we requested for them to come back later to service the room. It is a bit of a drive if you are travelling to Apia everyday so something to consider especially if you do not like driving at night. Staff I found very friendly. Buffet food breakfast and dinner we had on 2 occasions, was ok. Road to the resort was a sore point but it looks like they were working on a new road leading to the resort which is great.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. Thank you
