Repeat customer! Hotel Summer has all the convenience you’d want in well-priced hotel. Clean. Great staff. Perfect sunset views over one of the best public access beaches. A short, scenic drive from the city’s busy center. Worth noting that the entrance is rather small and adjacent to the highway, which makes it easy to miss. The hotel is also located near the end of Rafael Nuñez Airport’s runway(s), so be prepared to hear a few flights floating by. Be sure to make the most of the hotel’s restaurant and fitness sessions. A solid pick if you want a low key stay away from the fuss.

The hotel is clean and comfortable, the staff is kind. However, the hotel does have access to the beach, it is in front of the beach, a highway in between, the pool is very small. Tour guides in the area are very annoying.

Nous avons passé 10 jours a cette hôtel, le déjeuner toujours la meme chose! Ils pourrait faire des crepes, omelettes ! Une des serveuse, maigre avec une grosse voix n’avait pas de façon, je pense qu'elle n’aime pas son travail ! Pour l’hôtel pas de verres, d’eau et pour une petite tâche de sang fu a une piqure de moustiques on m’a chargé 10 dollars, alors que ca se lave tres bien a l’eau froide avoir su je l’aurais fait moi même ! Premiere fois que je vois ça ! Pour le reste c’etait bien, piscine petite mais fraiche, bruyant en avant avec balcon, mes chambres sur le côté, san balcon ok!

Tres belle hôtel, nous avons eu une suite romantique pour 5 jours, la vue etait super meme si il y a des travaux sur la plage, le bain tourbillon etait agreable, d’avoir un fan avec ac est un plus ainsi qu’un frigo, la douche vraiment super. Pour le prix j’ai trouvé ca tres agréable. Nous avions aussi le déjeuner inclus, c’est bon mais repetitif, pas moyen d’avoir des crepes! La piscine est petite mais rafraichissante. Le seul hic est le bruit, l’aéroport est toute proche, et etant face a la rue, lorsqu'il y a du traffic , les klaxons mais la nuit on dort tres bien

the room was smaller that I thought, but nice. first day almost no water, and very little hot water.
it wasn't untill the 3rd day that hot water was in the room. being on the 7th floor, it took some time to go up into the building.
bring cash, room service, or pool service (drinks etc) does not always have a CC.
restaurant was actually very good.

Good hotel with good location. Staff were always attentive. Excellent view in the room and gorgeous view at the rooftop pool. Breakfast was good, with one local dish that changed every day.
The only 2 issues I found are the following:
1)It mentioned the room has a “full-sized’ refrigerator. It was indeed a mini fridge, but it worked properly.
2)It is advertised as “on the beach” (2 minutes away). This is not true as it is indeed a 20-minute roundtrip walk, with an elevated pedestrian walkway to cross a main avenue. The 2- or 4-minutes’ walk indicated is not a safe option.
Please note that the ONLY reason I chose this hotel was because the “on beach” location. We were working from the hotel and wanted to enjoy the beach as much as possible, which wasn’t the case because it was too far away. For this reason, I request a PARTIAL refund, as it was incorrectly advertised in the Expedia description.

Firstly if you are a solo traveller this hotel is not for you, please keep scrolling, to bring someone in you get charged 180.000 pesos. Outrageous. Most of the reviews here are 100% accurate and the pillows are made comfy and they have cleaners who clean your room every morning if you want. The big black dude at the front is doing too much I think
He wants to be the manager horrible dude.

Beware the “50,000 Peso Towel Scam” at Hotel Summe

I recently stayed at Hotel Summer Frente Al Mar in Cartagena, and while the property itself may look fine, guests — especially foreigners — should be aware of a dishonest practice I encountered at checkout.
Upon leaving, I was told to wait while staff “checked” the room. A young employee returned and claimed I had to pay 50,000 pesos because the towels were “dirty.” Let me be clear: towels are supposed to be dirty — that’s why hotels wash them. I had no stains, no blood, no wine, nothing unusual. Just normal use from sweat, exercise, beach sand, and daily showering.
This was nothing more than a hustle aimed at taking advantage of foreigners who might not question it.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable. Hotels that rely on international tourism should not be running scams on their guests. Travelers deserve honesty, not intimidation over something as absurd as “dirty towels.”

My advice: do not stay at this property unless you’re prepared to deal with scams like this. And if you do, make sure you bring your own towel.

Is absolutely not like on the pictures at all, front desk acts like if they are making you a favor by letting you stay at the hotel, when you ask for some help or information the respond in a cold way and not helpful or friendly, the brakefast bar on the pictures doesn't exist, you seat down and some one comes and ask what you want for the Free breakfast and you got to wait for the food to come over, is hard to know what to eat if you are not Colombian or person because you don't know most times the name of the breads etc , nothing comes with ice on the restaurant because the only place they carry ice is on the bar by the pool and that time that I ask for s cup of ice the ice truck didn't delivered that day dear good lol any way I would not recommend this hotel is just they have a way of doing things that just doesn't cut it for me I'm no been hard on the place just the management is all wrong,,,,,the ladies from cleaning and restaurant are very nice oooooh I forgot my wife Saw a small live roach on our room 505, another thing if you order food to be delivered you got to meet the delivery person outside because they are not allowed on the reception 😕

I don’t even know where to start. … The staff is not properly trained. The hot water is very cold. Breakfast is not really good. It’s cheaper than the rest of the hotels in the area so you get what you pay.
The bed was very comfortable though.

The building is a very narrow building and about 10 stories tall and not very wide, has very little and narrow parking, it is located right next to work to a small grocery store and drugstore, but make sure you go shopping before they close around 8 PM if you want snacks and drinks because the hotel is very limited on their selection, the breakfast in the morning was very good the morning staff was very nice but the nighttime guy that worked was a horrible person and should be fired because talking to his friend was more important than waiting on people and helping them out because the hotel does not have drinkable water and had no water for customers to purchase at the time, I was needing water to drink from being dehydrated from all the walking around because the stores and drugstore next-door was closed the night time attendant seemed to have no desire to help you and has the attitude I don’t care and I don’t know is all he could say. The temperature in Cartagena is very hot even at night time and for there to be no water to purchase and the nighttime worker not helping to locate some was ridiculous. The room that I received was clean, but very basic white room with a very uncomfortable bed, but the pillows were soft and comfortable. The view of the ocean was very nice with a very small balcony and good AC in the room, but no water or anything in the miniature refrigerator to eat or drink for purchase, bed was uncomfortable, especially the center of bed did have hot shower

It’s too far from the historic center & La bodeguita, which is where you take the water boats. Traffic gets crazy!

The room was HUGE & clean.
The bathroom was super nice!
I loved it!
The balcony view !!!! Was the best!!!
Breakfast was very good & since we had a morning trip , we could take it to go.

I'm only giving this property 2 stars because of the experience I had after we checked out. To begin, the room I requested was barely an ocean view as it indicated in the description, and it was smaller than expected. The service at the pool bar was on point. Being that this hotel is on the beach, nowhere in this property did it state that we were not allowed to take a room towel to the beach. I went to the beach with my fiance sat at the chairs they had at the beach and went back to the room after about an hour. The AC stopped working and when I went to check out I informed the guy at the front desk about the AC and I left it as that. He then told me that there was a towel that had a stain ( which looked like a sand or dirt stain, the size of a finger probably from the chair i sat on, nothing out of this world.) and told me I had to either clean it MYSELF or pay $20,000 pesos for them to take care of the towel. NEVER in my life have I ever experienced something this ridiculous in a hotel. Charge me if i stole the towel or really dirtied it to the point that bleach and detergent wouldn't work for a small sand or dirt stain from a beach chair but the audacity of telling me I had to clean it or pay was absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional from the staff. Never will i step foot in that ridiculous place nor would I recommend anyone to stay at this hotel after this experience!!!!!

A jucuzzi tub is useless w/o hot water, ditto for shower. Ceiling fan speed was either Off or Insane Hi speed, wall air conditioner was feeble, couldn’t put lunch or dinner meals on my room. And the beach was trashy and filled with peddlers hounding us.

The room was great. Just that you need to put the key card in a slot in order to have power - wich includes air conditioning. The restaurant is very ordinary. It's not a huge problem because there's an excellent restaurant at a 3 min walk (Zona Norte). But the breakfasts aren't good. The beach is at a 5 min walk, wich is great. Everything else is a bit far, but most of the time, there's drivers waiting at the door and they'll drive you for a reasonable price. Book your activities at the entry hall; it's cheaper than using apps. The pool on the roof is really nice. All in all, a good experience.

The hotel was directly next to the airport, and just a walk across the street to the beach. The room was very large with a balcony overlooking the beach. My favorite part was the rooftop pool and bar. I asked for a drink that I had previously ordered that the bartender ran out of at the bar, and she went all the way downstairs to the restaurant on the first floor to get me one. (I didnt realize until she came back and told me, it was above and beyond). Incredible service at the pool. Also a great view from the pool with a beautiful sunset picture opportunity. Highly recommend.

Property view is nice. But everything about this place looks and was cheap.Safe code would not change from what staff stored it to be which was unacceptable.
Im very disappointed about the little ants that my bro and i had to kill each time we entered room. We didn't leave anything open including our bags due to ant infestation. My opinion, \"FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY\" Also keep bags or anything up off the floor. I give this place a 1 star just cause AC and fan worked just how i like

First when I arrived I told the taxi driver this maybe the wrong address, because the name of the hotel is hotel Summer in front of the ocean. He said yes it is, but you have to cross 4 lanes of traffic first. I was still optimistic, so I proceeded to check in. When I got to my room it was apparent they were not prepared for guests as the AC was off, it was a very hot day, and it took 3 hours for the room to cool down. The “balcony” was that only in name as I could not sit and look into the ocean because it was too small. I had to sit side ways and enjoy oncoming traffic. At this point I’m being picky, but what really did it for me was I woke up in the morning and saw a roach sauntering across the room like I was the Intruder. When I killed it, a short while after I noticed a trail of ants, but by this time I had a blasting headache. I couldn’t figure why I didn’t drink, this was no hangover. I tried to call the front desk but of course my phone was dead. So I went out the room and bam it smacked me right in the face… very heavy gasoline fumes. I went to tell the front desk and notify them the phone didn’t work. They called my room and said it worked. I said not because it rings for you. The phone was as dead as that roach. Anyway. I decided to check out because I couldn’t at this time. I requested a refund for my remaining days and they straight said no. Even though the fines were a health factor. 20 minutes after leaving my headache started to go away. Do not stay here.
