Terrific…the Room was great, fridge but no microwave.. the rooms cleaned to perfection, pool so clean, across the street from the beach, the service was excellent. The breakfast was fresh with So so many choices, I’d go back again joyfully. Each and every person was incredible, check in check was fast & easy. I’d recommend this hotel. If there was a microwave in the room that would be great, again no microwave. I’d go back joyfully.

The spacious room delivered to expectations- it was perfect! Great bed and just cool enough 23C to refresh from the oppressive heat. Loved the bano. Hotel staff was spot on, did not disappoint. Excellent breakfast buffet. The only real blemish was the slow food service at both restaurants for lunch & dinner. Typically it took two hours. The minibar was a rip off (aren't they all?) A bottle of water was 12mil pesos from the minibar was 4mil pesos at the hotel store, and 890 pesos at the public store next door. This would be a great laid back vacation for those that appreciate peace and quiet.

The hotel staff were kind and personable. The grounds were kept clean throughout my stay and despite being aged, the property is well-kept. Free buffet was bare minimum, just something to fill your belly.
As an American who only speaks English, it was frustrating that the staff only speaks Spanish. I had to communicate with them via a translation app. The tv only played Spanish stations. The pamphlets in the room were all in Spanish. No one was there to explain which restaurants were open at certain times. Room service was not available at certain times. There was no one to offer information about excursions etc.
The rooms were a little outdated, but clean and comfortable. The shower doesn’t have a full door, so the water just floods on the bathroom floor during your shower. The bed was comfortable enough. They charge you for the beverages and snacks in the room so use at your own risk.
The hotel was close to the airport and the tourist attractions and that was a plus.
Overall, I would not return to the hotel. I expected more from a Sonesta brand.

We had a couple hicups. The first room, the balcony door didn't lock. The moved us to another door and it was the same issue. They did dix it on the second room. Overall the stay was good. The staff was nice! Didn't care too much for the area of rhe hotel.

Had a great experience here. The property is huge and it’s off the beach so decent views from the balcony and two pools one closer to the beach and one closer to property but still just a 3 min walk on property. Tennis court and the restaurant had an amazing seafood dish, cazual con marisco de Colombia. I had to take one home with me. My room didn’t have strong ac and they quickly found me a better room with normal ac. There was really no complaints. The place is nice and it wasn’t expensive. It’s not the closest to getsemani if you like night life so 22 min uber ride is needed because there is no nightlife in the beach area. But at least you get to wake up to a beach and it’s the only area they have hotels , with a beach front, where you don’t have to take a boat to stay in the beachfront island and not to far from night light.

The pictures aren’t as accurate as they seem in the Expedia page. The ocean is not right in front of the hotel. Even though it is close you still have to walk a good 100 mtrs to get to it and the surroundings are not that nice. Little details in the elevator and bathrooms makes it look like the hotel don’t take care of certain spaces. There is not even a coffee maker in the room. This hotel, which is ok, should be 3 stars

This is the second time I stay at sonesta hotel in Cartagena and it was perfect ! First time with my family kids and husband and the second time just two of us.
From the moment you arrive at the hotel everyone is so welcoming! The person that helps you with the suitcase the people at the reception that is so friendly and understanding the person that clean the room and wait for us because we get up late and she was so nice !! everyone of you guys that work at the hotel make our stay feel the most comfortable and safe vacation !!and I need to mention too the people that work in the breakfast area !!! Amazing people !! My room 309 !! Pool view ! Amazing room ! Thank you Sonesta Cartagena ! You guys are amazing people!!!

Booked a “Superior Double Room 1 king bed” with Expedia. At reception the hotel said that my third party agent (Expedia) messed up the reservation and we were only offered a “Standard Room single bed” for the same price. Spend 1.5 hrs at reception trying to resolve. Very frustrating

Hotel muy agradable, instalaciones muy cómodas, dos posicionas, buen gimansio y restaurante. Tuve un cambio de habitación por problema con el aire acondicionado, el hotel muy amablemente me cambió la habitación y aunque la primera habitación era más antigua y tenía un olor a húmedo, la segunda era más moderna y confortable. Me parece muy buena opción el hotel para repetir. Acceso a la playa y tienda de abarrotes disponible entre otros.

The first rooms we got were not up to the standards so we asked for better ones and they did relocated us.

Great staff! Most of the food was heated frozen food. Worst pizza ever. Pictures on web site of beach views were fake. Filthy beach access, garbage all over , 2 roads in between hotel and beach. Run down un finished construction is your view from the hotel. Limited menu not good food, well breakfast was good. Old place needs tlc. Reception people were rude. The rooms were good. Water pipe broke they wanted us to show and use the toilet in other room. There were acrive leakd in the hall ways. The elevator smell of mold so much it burnt my eyes. Management needs help, they are lost on how to upkeep the hotel. Other then that it was fine.

We chose this hotel to stay during a layover. Its proximity to the airport is a major bonus, but if you’re making Cartagena your destination, this area of town is really not the place to stay. There are much trendier and historic neighborhoods and there are other beaches that are prettier but overall for what it was the hotel had great staff, clean rooms and nice pools.

Property was great overall. Proximity to airport was a positive with the ONE exception that on one of the mornings we had a plane so close, it felt as if right over our heads at 6:30am. BUT - all in all, the food for breakfast was great, staff was amazing and pools were nice and clean, so would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

I recently stayed at Sonesta with my husband and family. When we first arrived. Check in was ok. The hotel appears to be well maintained and clean. However, the free breakfast was a big let down. Not much selection and not very good. I get that it’s free, but if you spend your money to include free breakfast. I would hope to enjoy it. However, the menu that you have to pay for lunch and dinner was better. Now the other big problem was my room 624 was covered in these little ants. I mean everywhere. Bathroom completely over ran by them as well as the room. Like guaranteed to have a few sleeping with you or on your during your stay. Pools were nice and clean. Would I stay again? Probably not.

The AC was the best thing in my room lol It’s so hot in Cartagena and most places don’t have AC so it was nice to come back after a long day to a nice cold room. Breakfast was delicious, staff were friendly and professional. The pool area was awesome! Loved the hotel, will definitely come back here for sure!

Sonesta Cartegena is a law suit waiting to happen. Imagine being placed in a room without a front door, or having your AC units pour puddles of water from the ceiling, and being unable to control the AC temperature, or turn it on or off because the wall mounted control refuses to work - or having maintenance attempt to fix the AC unit three times in three days - all to no avail. Imagine being dirty and unable to bathe for hours because the staff repeatedly fails to replenish daily linens and takes forever to respond to requests for linens. Or imagine having staff remove your ear-pods from your personal belongings in your room and travel to their home with it. Imagine eating breakfast and not having labels to tell you what your eating to avoid allergic reactions. Or even eating breakfast and seeing an unopened sanitary napkin and trash in the scenic pond next to you. I can say a lot more, but what I will say is that Expedia failed us by rating this a four-star hotel. It was certainly less than that.

Enjoyed the modern room with balcony which was convenient to dry swimsuits overnight, quiet A/C, direct beach access to a huge sandy beach with close proximity to excellent Encolombia kitesurfing and wingfoiling school. Pools are awesome. Taxi to historic city center cost 25K, taxis always available. Friendly staff, clean. Small supermarket and drug store next door.

I don’t like how they don’t explain things to guests till after you check in ! They never mentioned that the fridge in the room was an extra cost. Being a guest you’ll think it’s complimentary. After checking out for 3 nights they gave us a fee or 50 saying we open and ate all the thing's in the fridge. It was 2 guest me and my friend, which is crazy. We were barely in the room. They are very hungry and wanted to argue with us about the price instead of satisfying GUEST they argue. Very unprofessional. We almost missed our flight because they wanted to argue and throw a price at us that we WEREN'T going to pay.

All the staff members are great, very friendly and their service is excellent. The access to the beach is not very nice. The floor halls to access the rooms was is bad condition, there was a door with access to a closet or room and it was not finished, giving a bad impression. The room was excellent, good size, good bed and amenities.

No wash cloths, but ample drying bath towels. I was a guest for 10 days and requested a wash cloth sized towel several times, only to receive hand size drying towels. Also, upon arrival, I requested my balcony door lock to be repaired, because it would not lock. It was addressed with maintenance, promptly. But when I asked about a wash towel, the young man at the front desk greeted me with the remark \"you again\". I was very disappointed. I had planned many months for this trip.

Hotel was very nice. Excellent pools (3) and very close to the beach. Balcony views were great. Breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of options and small variations each day. The restaurant, however, for lunch and dinner was very limited with its option. I did not have a car and did not want to taxi/Uber into town each night so i was stuck eating at the resort restaurant. Restaurant menu is only in Spanish, should be in both Spanish and English (many international travelers). I have basic Spanish skills so i kind of knew what i was ordering, but did not know completely. Staff at resort was very friendly.
