My husband and I stayed 12 nights in August and it was perfect. Our room was in a classic style, spacious and looked directly out onto the beautiful lake with a large window and also had a separate balcony looking at the lake and garden. The bed was also comfortable and spacious. The bathroom looked modern and new and the shower was good and strong. The buffet breakfast every morning was lovely and had a good variety of options. The grounds of the hotel are amazing - beautiful garden feel with some art structures dotted around. We spent a lot of time at the pool (basically 10am to 6pm) as it was so beautiful and relaxing. The views of the lake and the mountains surrounding Lake Garda are truly spectacular. The service at the pool where you can get drinks and food was excellent. Antonio who works at the pool bar deserves a special mention - always a friendly face and very very efficient, and made me a delicious non-alcoholic juice cocktail off-menu - his own initiative and creation.
The walk into Malcesine is really beautiful once you get to the lakeside promenade. The first part is on the main road but that section is very short. In total the walk is probably 20/25 minutes to the centre of Malcesine. Checking in and out was also seamless. I would definitely recommend the hotel and will definitely be back.

We really liked the property for its fantastic staff and rustic charm. The hotel is a 20 minute walk into the town but with a few hills.

Sadly the hotel is located in the hills above a restaurant/bar that played music very loudly until 12 midnight.

Currently you cannot have the AC in Italy lower than 25C or 77F by law and so the room was very warm. We slept the first night with the doors open but couldn’t do this on the second night due to the noise.

The Wi-Fi is absolutely the worst I have ever experienced. I cannot understand why it is so bad.

The decoration and appearance of the hotel is lovely however they have some random sculpture pieces that really do not fit with the character.

The pool is incredible but is not heated whatsoever.

Overall we would stay here again but there are a few things people should be aware of.

This is literally the most beautiful place in the world, this hotel has one of the best views of the lake and mountains beyond. The staff were amazing and food was great. The only issue we had was that we booked through Hotels.com because they offered a transfer fee of 22Euros per person each way, when booking the transfer the hotel and Hotel.com didn’t know what we where talking about and blamed each other. We are still in discussion with them. The transfer fee from Verona airport was 240 euros both ways, a big difference!!

Wow... What a fantastic hotel!

Set in beautiful gardens with amazing views of the lake, excellent facilities and fantastic staff, this really is a place to make wonderful memories.

The continental breakfast was always well stocked and the staff very friendly and attentive and happily conversed in multiple languages. Likewise, dinner was impeccably served from a different menu each night during our short stay (5 nights).

The room (ours was a \"junior suite\") was a good size, spotlessly clean (and cleaned each day), modern and had it's own balcony with a quite breathtaking view.

For those wishing to venture into town, it's only a 10 minute leisurely stroll along the banks of the lake. This path is accessed via a short walk along a fairly busy road, and quite a steep, short footpath

Note: As with the vast majority of properties in this area, access to the hotel is via a fairly steep path / private road, so it's worth baring in mind if you have mobility requirements (parking IS available at the upper level).

Dont miss this one... SUPER Special!

I selected this hotel (sort of randomly) out of hundreds of choices at Lake Garda... because it met my needs, plus the art and interiors intrigued me. I had no idea what a jewel this place would be... if I had, we would have sayed extra days! From your arrival you know this is going to be a good experience -- the staff is excellent, the service flawless, the setting beautiful, and the art collection is clearly a great passion and makes it like staying in a small museum (I regret not understanding enough Italian to truly absorb all the information available about the art.) The grounds, amenities, and the views of Lake Garda are so relaxing and inviting that we never left the property until the afternoon of the second day and we are usually ones to be out exploring right away! I haven't even touched on the food... there is a world-renowned restaurant on Lake Garda that I was interested in trying... BUT the brilliant dinner menu at the hotel was so good we never managed to make it over to the other place! They do a beautiful breakfast buffet service too... but the dinners are magical and on one of our nights there, was accompanied by live piano music filtering in from the stone terrace. I was hesitant to even post a review of this little jewel because I'm afraid once word gets out that I won't be able to get in there on my next trip to italy -- but I felt that I needed to share. I've stayed a lot of nice places in this world.... BUT this one is a really special!

My wife and I stayed here for a week, 14th – 20th September - it and was our third visit, 1997, 2010 and 2019. The quality and high standard set by the owner/manager has been maintained over all those years and is a credit to him and to the staff that interpret it. I have run a four-star hotel so understand the challenges and know when I find a good one!
This hotel is just perfect and in a stunning location with amazing lake views from the hotel and the beautifully designed garden - at nights the grounds are beautiful lit creating a magical atmosphere, certainly one of the best we’ve ever visited and one of our favourites!
A beautiful place in which you can have every attention! Everything is here with no need to move far unless you want to, the perfect place to relax and reflect.
The staff are friendly polite and expert taking a pride in all they do, nothing was too much trouble, to mention any one of them by name would be unfair to the others – some we did not see but felt their presence with their attention to detail from the cleaner to the chef.
All the meals were presented with style and creativity in the delightful restaurant or on the terrace as you choose, managed expertly by the Restaurant Manager and his staff. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with all that you would expect.
Its difficult to drag yourself away at the end of your holiday which assures a return again before too long.

What an amazing hotel! I was here on my Honeymoon and my wife and I absolutely loved this place! The check in was flawless, the grounds are in unbelievable shape, and the staff are incredibly nice and welcoming.

The location is fantastic and is only a short walk down to the water if you prefer to swim in the lake or take a stroll to some local restaurants and shops. The infinity pool is beautiful and beyond refreshing to swim in!

The views from our room were gorgeous. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone considering visiting this area!

The only small issue that I had was the restaurant. My wife and I generally travel with our carry-on luggage, so we didnt have any room to pack pants since it was the middle of summer. I was told I wasn't able to dine in their restaurant (despite being relatively empty). Eventually with some friendly persistence, they allowed us to stay with my shorts on (they were dressy, not gym shorts) but put us in the corner well away from everyone else. Not that big of a deal, but bring pants to avoid any issues dining here.

Beautiful hotel with brilliant staff, they couldn’t be willing to help more. The room was spotless and had towels and flip flops for the pool area, which was also lovely and clean. Bicycles free to hire from the hotel which made exploring the lake side routes even better. Breakfast is lovely with fresh fruit and juices and the option to sit outside on the terrace overlooking the lake. A short lakeside walk into the town with plenty of restaurants to pick from and easy boat trips to other towns on the lake.

Wow! A difficult one to be critical. Everything about the hotel would rate excellent. Just one or two minor points to consider. The location of the place is idyllic nestling slightly on a hill with magnificent views. However the walk into town is around 20 minutes. If you follow the waterfront it’s magnificent, however having done the journey many times in the week it was sometimes a pain to come back up the hill, especially after a meal in town late at night. The other minor point is only a personal opinion. A lot of the guests we spoke found the four course evening meal magnificent. We were not half board and only stayed a couple of nights for a meal as the dining and food is very much geared to fine dining and sometimes we craved for one or two plainer options as we are quite plain eaters! As I say a personal point only. I can highly recommend this relaxing hotel nestled in scenic splendour!

Pretty local area, but not what I expected.

This place is all about the location.. which cant be beat. It's peaceful, beautiful, and has ample parking.
The negatives. The rooms were very tired. The curtains in our room were full of holes and the bathtub needed repairs.
We paid for the dinner service, and felt like we had gone back in time 50 years in terms of the food and the service. My wife was ignored the entire time and all questions were directed at me in some strange misogynistic manner. The food was what I would describe as faux-fancy. Sounded impressive but looked and tasted like it had been cooked by a school canteen. The breakfast wasnt much better.
It's annoying when you prepay for dinner, and your choice is limited to a few items, and they charge you for things like water.... or extremely overpriced wine!
The room corridors are dark, and the lights are all set on sensor.. but they trigger too late and too bright! So if you are going to your room at night, be prepared to fall down a step and then be blinded by floodlights.
There is guy at reception who seemed to be watching everyone closely, you couldnt relax! The maid also ignored our do-not-disturb sign. annoying . We were expecting the beautiful red building in the pictures, but our room was in more of a basic beige rectangle. The walk to town is a pretty but hilly 15 minutes. be prepared for 100 difficult steps to walk to the beach. Most guests here were German, getting a lounger was difficult

this hotel is in a beautiful setting overlooking Lake Garda and feels really great on arrival. However when my husband checked in he was told to go and get his luggage from the car whereby he said “no I I would like one of your staff to help me with the luggage please”! The bed and pillows were not at all comfortable and the room had a Spartan feel. When we went to the dining room for dinner we were given no option on choice of table but told this table is for you and we observed many empty tables outside in the cooler which would’ve been more comfortable as it was boiling hot . The restaurant felt like a cafeteria even though the food was quite good. We actually decided to leave the hotel as we were so disappointed with it and never slept a night there.

Almost perfect.... but!

Very impressed with this hotel, great room, views and pool. The ladies on the front desk were very friendly and couldn’t do enough. Food was also very good. Only slight moan was that the owner was very grumpy and the head waiter was very rude. We were not told at check in that there was a full trouser dress code for men at dinner and when I arrived in very smart tailored shorts the head waiter embarrassed me in front of other guests. After speaking with others he had done it to many guests over the week and some guests refused to eat at the hotel. But we had a great time here overall and loved the local town.

First impressions of hotel ticked all our boxes for a short stay in Lake Garda. Beautiful location with stunning scenery Warm welcome on arrival. Staff were always courteous and helpful. Room was spotless although shower room small. The hotel had an authentic feel and look with modern twists. Grounds were stunning with an infinity swimming pool. Would definitely recommend it to stay.

Quiet location, nice hotel.

This hotel is a really lovely, typically Italian hotel. The staff are all polite, friendly and very helpful. It is set up on the hill above the lake; there are around 130 steps up/down to the lake side, which are not lit at night, no handrail and a bit haphazard in places. I would recommend taking a torch when going up and down in the evenings. It is about a 20 minute walk into Malcesince - good exercise though.

We'd requested a lake view room, however, unfortunately our view was largely obscured by 3 very large conifer trees. We feel that the trees have outgrown their position and should be felled.

Our room was quite small and nothing like any of the pictures on the website, etc. It had a double bed and desk, a large cupboard with shelves and drawers behind the door offering plenty of space for clothes storage, an en suite shower room and a balcony with a little table and chairs on it.

The bed was uncomfortable due to large dips on either side where previous guests had slept. The mattresses need replacing desperately. The pillows were also quite flat and lacking 'bounce', again these need to be replaced.

The food in the hotel was fantastic, well cooked and presented. Breakfast offered a good selection of items to choose from including hot and cold selections. The drinks at the bar are a bit pricey compared to bars/restaurants in Malcesine.

The facilities at the hotel are good with free wifi, free bike hire, free spa access and an infinity pool.

Nice hotel but lacking in some areas

We had a lovely stay here in late September but the following wasn't too good -

Room Temperate – the aircon had been disabled due to the time of the year and the radiators were on full blast and we couldn’t control this from anywhere in the room. We had to request a number of times at reception for the heating to be turned off and it finally was on the last night of our stay.

Spa Hotel – the hotel is advertised as a Spa Hotel and it’s even in the name but its only open from 16:00 – 20:00.

Ironing Facilities – For a four star hotel we were expecting an iron and ironing board in the room or a least to be able to request one but this was not the case. An ironing room is available but I’ve never seen an ironing board like it ever before. In brief it’s not the usual standard board and the only way I can describe what it looks like is its most narrow end is larger than the large end of a normal ironing board. I may have a slight OSD problem when it comes to ironing but there maybe others like me so thought I’d mention it so you are not as shocked as I was but a beer while ironing helped.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, couldn’t fault the staff and location, just a couple of small changes required as detailed above.

If you are looking for lake views - this is it.

Across the street from the lake but up high so you have stunning views. To go to the lake you need to cross the street (can be very scary) & go down steep steps but once you're at the lake you can walk to town - gorgeous scenery.

Prices by the pool & drinks for dinner were high.
Breakfast was too much of the same thing every morning.
Dinner was hit & miss - some nights the food was exceptional some were just awful.
(Our guess is they had 2 chefs 1 good 1 not so good?!)
Our waiter Fabrizio was exceptional.
Our room - we'd requested a balcony - bit disappointed as we got more of a little side terrace & it was on the main road spot so we heard traffic.
It was clean but it exceptionally clean (under bed was dusty) white linens - loved that. Room 200 private entrance cave like but very quaint. Fab window view of lake. Lovely large bathroom but shower soaked the floor each time as it leaked. No big deal.
A couple of compliants - 1 is we couldn't turn air con off or on or adjust.
The 2nd was the wi if in our room was rubbish, we literally had to stand in a corner & wait to upload, discovered the wi fi by the pool bar area was good which saved us. We need excellent wi fi.
Our friends came to visit us & the staff said it was fine they spend the afternoon with us we thought that was tremendous & very kind of the hotel management.
We'd stay again as views just outway any problems.

Hotel is in a stunning location and is well laid out with great attention to detail. There is a feeling of spaciousness and a relaxed atmosphere, whether sitting by the pool, having a drink in the garden, or eating in the restaurant - all with amazing views of Lake Garda.

Staff are very friendly and always helpful with any requests.

Our room and balcony, again with views of the lake, was very comfortable and kept spotlessly clean.

Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday and excellent base from which to explore the lake area and surrounding countryside.

Beautiful hotel and lovely staff

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and had a great time. The staff were the highlight of the hotel, really friendly and helpful but without being over formal or too in your face. The food was absolutely fantastic and the room had a lovely roof terrace and stunning view onto the lake and the mountains behind. You can't go wrong with this hotel as long as you read the following... this is not a criticism but it is something that people should be aware of... it is a good 20 minute walk into Malcesine and you can either walk down the road which is quite busy and has no proper footpath or cross the road and walk down 96 very steep and unstable steps then along the lakeside. The walk down the steps is fine but the walk back up is knackering! Be warned. Also the wifi is rubbish and the air con didn't work properly (that might just have been our room and we never got round to mentioning it to the staff). None of these things bothered us as we could manage the steps and the amazing hotel and staff outweighed these minor negatives! If you can deal with the walk, poor wifi and (possibly) unreliable air con, I doubt there is a better all round hotel anywhere on Lake Garda and certainly not a better view!

Mmmm...Malcesine.

We found this hotel by chance through hotels.com and this was our second stay and we will definitely be coming back. There are cheaper hotels (and some more expensive) but this place is worth every pound/euro. The food is great, the staff are great, the rooms are great and serviced daily, the grounds are nice.

The two downsides are fairly minor. Hotel wifi is a bit patchy and the walk to Malcesine is about 20 minutes either by main road or there is a near 100 steps down to the lake opposite the hotel. The steps are not in great condition and it's a steep climb coming back up...a problem if you have any mobility issues. That said, the lakeside walk into Malcesine is beautiful.

With regularly ferries to all destinations on Lake Garda, Malcesine is a great base for a holiday. There is enough in Malcesine itself for a relaxing holiday or you could get on a boat and visit one of the other towns.

A dream room with two huge windows with panoramic view of the lake. Super comfortable and clean. Beautiful garden with art pieces, beautiful swimming pool. Delicious breakfast served indoor and outdoor in the patio Complimentary bikes (old town is really close). Perfect place for a romantic stay!

A great hotel in a beautiful location, a 15 minute walk to the centre of Malcesine along a lake side path. The only downside would be if you had any mobility difficulties as there are 93 steep steps down to the lake side path.

Staff were very pleasant and attentive and the hotel was immaculate.

This really is a jewel of a hotel and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for either a base to explore Lake Garda.

We booked a suite at Bellevue San Lorenzo, as a treat to ourselves as we were getting married in Malcesine during our stay. The hotel is lovely, and the grounds and views are stunning, however a number of things were disappointing during our stay; 1) The ensuite had a large tile missing, which exposed the water pipes, and the window surround hadn't been finished. 2) One evening there was a hotel event happening right outside our balcony, with very loud music which continued until 1am in the morning - the reception advised that it would only be on until 11:30pm. Not something you expect, and there was no way of getting to sleep during the event. 3) The hotel manager was extremely rude, and not helpful in the slightest. One example was as my wife was getting dressed into her wedding dress, my mum called reception to ask if my wife's dad had arrived. The manager told her he was too busy to speak to her, and hung up. 4) The spa / wellness centre that was advertised as being open at a certain time, wasn't. You had to ask for it to be 'switched on', and then took about 45 minutes to warm up, not including the extra 20 minutes it took for them to switch it on from when you asked. - All in all, the hotel is nice, the room was very clean and smart (other than point 1), and the views are amazing, but a number of points let it down, and certainly doesn't justify the price you're paying. We wouldn't stay again, and would look for something closer to the centre of Malcesine.

The hotel was in a wonderful position overlooking the lake and just outside Malcesine. The steps down to the lake, however, were long and daunting and across a busy road. The service at the hotel could not have been bettered and the staff were really first class.

Wonderful views of Lake Garda

Excellent hotel located in large garden overlooking Lake Garda. Bit out of Malcesine but all the better for that. A haven of peace & quiet. Food was better than we expected, so much so we ate in the hotel all 5 nights of our stay. Staff very friendly & welcoming. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel and location. Stunning views of the lake. The views on the veranda at breakfast were breathtaking. The grounds and flowers at the hotel were wonderful. Have to be quite fit as the steps, slopes and road leading down to the town could be an issue. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

Lovely,friendly hotel.

We loved our stay here. I read reviews before we booked and they were pretty spot on.
I paid a little bit extra to get a lake view and boy, was it worth it! We had a small unimpressive room with frankly ugly furniture but I didn't care a jot because there was a beautiful picture window opening onto a spacious balcony with your own loungers and table and chairs, looking out over a spectacular view. It was just so lovely to get up in a morning and throw the windows open to gaze out. And we got the evening sunshine so we would sit out there before going into dinner.
The pool is fantastic. The service was lovely. Personally I don't think the photos on the site do the place justice. The public areas are smart and chic. Food was well presented and tasty. If you have more money to splash around I glimpsed some very posh rooms. The weather in May was perfect. The mountain scenery and walking is amazing. Malcesine itself is really pretty. In my view, the prettiest place on the lake. The walk from the hotel is short and picturesque. Yes there are lots of steps down to the front, over a hundred. But we managed and it helped to burn off some of the gelato calories!
Just time your journey carefully. You get a bus from the airport to the railway. Then a bus runs to Malcesine. However, due to flight delays we missed the last one at 18.45. We got the bus to Garda but then needed a taxi to get to Malcesine. Its a fair way and it cost a bit over £50. The bus would have been 5 euros each.

Old hotel somehow stuck at least a decade ago

Positives: the view and the swimming pool (water is pretty cold in May)
Staff at the bar or breakfast is nice and welcoming
Negatives :
20+ minutes walk from town center on a risky road
If you are lucky you can get a room in the main building but you need to ask for it when you book otherwise you may end in other new buildings which are not as charming
Rooms are fit with old small TV (only Italian and German channels), WiFi is very slow and there is no coffee machine or others amenities in the room
Lastly environmental sense is just inexistant as 20 years ago
