Worst accomodatexperience of the 10weeks of travel

Free parking but a lot of broken glass prompted questions. Turned out we needed to remove everything from the hire car because of smash and grab. Hotel stank but masked with perfume. Bed comfortable. Toilets continuously ran which irritated ability to sleep. Shower was really small (BMI of 23 so not fat) and bumped my head on arch in bathroom. Plant was very noisy during the night as it periodically started. Poor sleep. Could not open the windows to get rid of the stench as there was too much noise. Breakfast buffet was good. Only half the seats were occupied which prompted the question as to whether we got a bad room or most of the rooms were like ours. I imagine if we the breakfast area was full we got the bad room.

Area felt safe, bit littered, hoped for seaview or partial seaview, disappointing drab room, bare walls. Bathroom small, sink wasnt level, dark coloring of walls.Small tight shower. View.of bins from the window. No sockets to charge mobiles. Door into hotel opened with card, though found it open a few times, gated entrance which added to security. Breakfast was downstairs in windowless room, limited choices of buffet. Good free beach across the road. Really good street cafe with very good value pizza nearby and really good restaurant behind the hotel, fab pasta and Tiramisa. Short walk to train station to central Rome, only 7 euros day ticket. Hotel has potential to be great, but currently falls short.

I liked that it was across the street from the beach. The staff at front desk was friendly. This property and surrounding properties are old and could have been up kept a little better. The room was a bit stuffy. The bath room shower is extremely small. It was difficult to bend over to wash feet. The shower area could have been a little cleaner.

Two stars, the bathrooms are outdated. It is an old hotel but close to the beach. There is no food variety for breakfast. The internet sucked! There is no laundry service as described on the website. Concierge and housekeepers were great. And I could hear my neighbor across our room coughing and yelling.

Great area probably in the summer. We stayed during off season so the place wasn’t busy. Felt like a safe area, we walked around at night to get food. Hotel said it has airport transportation available. There’s a sign and the only offer it at 3 different times and no Sundays. I booked the hotel for the airport transportation and the first bus only leaves at 11:10am. That didn’t help my 11am flight so we ended up taking an Uber.

The pictures of this place were very deceiving. The room was smaller than I thought. When I opened the door to my room it almost hit the wall. There’s no pictures of the bathroom because there barely is a bathroom, the shower was a joke and the toilet was behind the door when you opened it. The bed frame smelled like foul body odor, as if they never cleaned the actual bed. They held onto my passport until I paid state tax in euros which is new for me and inconvenient because I had no euros when I checked it and unless you use a local atm, there’s no way of exchanging usd to euros without your passport. Now on to the pros: The house keeping was fast, I left for breakfast and when I got back it was clean again with fresh towels. Speaking of breakfast, great coffee and amazing croissants. They have their own airport transportation which is only 20 euros, compared to an uber that would’ve charged 35-45 euros it’s a great deal. The hotel is across from the beach which is beautiful and near restaurants that are 10 minutes walking. Luckily, my stay was only for two nights because it is near the airport. Not a place you want to stay for more than that.

Hell in Italy

Where to start the people next to me yelled and slammed the door all night. The lock on my door didn't work so I was locked out for 30 min they got me in but I couldn't lock my door. The light in the bathroom was out, the bed was hard and the pillows even harder.

Don't stay here! many other nice places around.

it was a practical hotel for 1 night but I would not stay again. The bathroom was literally falling apart. you could not close the shower doors with out them falling on you. The breakfast was sufficient but not well cared for or replenished. Horrible bread. how do you have horrible bread in Italy the country that offers the best bread in the world.

OK stay the reception lady was really nice

Hotel was OK. Not amazing though . One of the features of this hotel was the jacuzzi tub in the terrace but the terrace was closed at the time of my stay . Also at 9 am in the morning there was this man standing just outside of our room door talking really loud for about 10 min which was really unpleasant and it did wakes up.So not such a good rest. The lady from the reception was actually nice thought and let us stay one hour more after the check in time.

Tiny Bread&Breakfast opposite the beach

We have stayed 5 nights at this BB. Overall experience was good, opposite the beach, safe parking place, comfy bed and strong AC. The breakfast is boring after the third morning but what can you ask when you book the cheapest BB next to the beach? The hotel was very quiet, almost empty in the peak time of the season, its only 2 floors but have a clean, relatively big elevator if your feet are tired and you don't wanna climb the stairs.
The cleaning person do an amazing job, our room but even the whole hotel were looked absolutely clean.

Definitely recommend this BB if you have no high expectation for your not much money what you spend here.

It said they offered a shuttle from airport. When I contacted I was told it wasn't until later in month. I spent 1 1/2 times as much on the taxis as the room.
Hotel isn't really even open. Zero staff at hotel. You check in at the hotel down the street and then on your own.

Decent for the price

The Hotel itself was pretty run down, but for the price you can't expect much. The breakfast in the morning was nice! I was not happy with the fact that they advertise an airport shuttle, yet don't have it in service until next month.. more so frustrating because it's parked in front of the building. Also wish the hot tub and other amenities were open later. We had no chance to see them since we were spending our time in Rome.

The hotel was as described - location, room itself -- BUT the shower was a joke -- if you were a large person you could barely squeeze into the opening to get into the bathroom. And one morning, there was no hot water. We had to contact the hotel staff who looked into the issue -- luckily, we had hot water that night. The safe was not operational. On the plus side, the breakfast was wonderful.

Perfect end to pilgrimage

I spent 5 nights here in all, one on the way to begin my walk from Lucca to Rome, and 4 on the return. The return 4 gave me time to unwind and rest up after walking the 250 miles from Lucca to Rome. Loved my little room with balcony and view of the Sea, great breakfasts, use of bike got me to Ostia Antica and all around the beach area. Staff very helpful. It was everything I hoped for and I'd go back if in Italy again as it was a welcome respite from the throngs of tourists and bustle of Rome. Highly recommended as a clean, very reasonable, well located hotel. Needs paint spruce up on outside, but doesn't detract from interior cleanliness. Highly recommended!

Reception staff member was excellent and personally assisted us with finding parking, room orientation and resolving an issue with the in-room safe. Took personal responsibility to ensure our belongings were secured so we could enjoy the beach sooner - commendable! Guest room, bedding comfort and bathroom - disappointing. Breakfast was good and enjoyed at a garden table , once again, service staff were very friendly and concerned.

It is at good location and especially so close to the beach. The room was clean and neat. The breakfast was good. The shuttle service to airport is very convenient. We had a very good experience with this. The driver was professional and very nice. He seemed know a lot about the area as well as other places in the country. He is like our tour guide and gave us a lot introduction/background information along the way to airport. We do appreciate it.

Great break from hot Rome

We had a wonderful relaxing two days at the beach. The hotel staff was great, the food was good and the room was nice. There is a nice big shower, good AC, and comfortable beds. We were on the top floor, and so had a great view from our balcony and vaulted ceilings in the room. I highly recommend!

This hotel is actually owned by the owners a hotel down th block. You check at that hotel then travel on block down with baggage. Cart do not work because side walk is in terrible conditions. Also only person at front desk for both hotelsHotel rooms are small but that is normal in Europe. Shower way to small. Rooms are clean. Internet laughable. Restaurant good but breakfast is very poor and is served in other hotel. Close to beach which is broken up to private beaches that take away view. Shuttle to airport cheap and awesome. Staff very concerned about the customer. Thus makes this review tough. But I cannot recommend this hotel as the best choice only an acceptable choice at best.

Close and comfortable

I chose this hotel for its closeness to Fiumiicino Airport in Rome. The room was clean and comfortable. Not large, but adequate for a few day stay. The front desk person was amazingly helpful and pleasant. The housekeeping staff was great in changing the king bed to two twins. They provided secure parking without extra charge. They offered free WiFi. Restaurants were nearby as was the beach.

I appreciate clean and comfortable and don't need a four or five star rating. La Riva satisfied my requirements. The hotel provided a tasty and adequate breakfast. I would definitely stay there again if I ever considered a return trip to Rome.

I doubt that I will ever return to Rome. It was unbelievably crowded, expensive and unpleasant. If one enjoys spending untold hours with 5000 of your closest friends, Rome is the place to go. If not, there are many other places to visit.

I lived in Europe for six years and traveled most of the continent. La Riva was a very pleasant stay in comparison to many others over the years.

Good place to stay if on a budget

I had reservations to return to a hole in Rome after a driving excursion. The San Pietro Resort in Rome was terrible and did not live up to its claims. I canceled that return reservation and made reservations at La Riva. La Riva was a very nice budget hotel providing clean and neat rooms, a bountiful breakfast and secure, inclosed parking. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The location is across the street from the beach and about 7 Km from Fiucimo Airport. My only negative is that the bathroom is small, but I am a big man, so I can't fault the hotel. I should lose some weight.

Good value for the location. Across the street from beach and 3 blocks from train station into Rome. Also, very close to Ostia Antiqua by train. Rooms were clean and well-maintained, although very spartan w. few amenities. Shower stall was too small. Very noisy in the morning, during checkout (thin walls).

Nice Seaside Hotel near Fiumicino Airport

We stayed here initially because of the proximity to Fiumicino Airport and the fact that there was plenty of free parking in a nice section - right near the beach!! The hotel had a nice free breakfast; the staff was friendly; the room was simple, but clean; and they had a 24 hour front desk which was perfect for our very late arrival.

Great for the price!

Ok, first off if your looking at this hotel becuase you think its near or easy to get to from the airport, and your an american and this is your first time in Italy, you prob want to go someplace else. They do have a shuttle but you have to know how to call them in order to use it. We ended up getting a taxi which was 45 euros to drive 16km and the taxi driver acted like he was doing us a huge favor. You check in at a different hotel about 300 ft away, but there are signs that make it easy. The staff was very friendly, very accodating. The room was very clean very basic but the WIFI was sketchy at best. The breakfast was FANTASTIC! Well worth it, i would stay here again!

Ideal before transferring to Rome airport

We stayed two nights before flying back to the UK from Fumincino airport. The hotel lays on a transfer bus which is very efficient, and is inexpensive. We stayed two nights because we decided to have a day in Rome on the last day of our holiday. The train station is only 7-8 minutes from the hotel and then it's a half hour train ride into Rome itself. Ostia is basically a seaside town not unlike Southend or similar, and it's visited by people from Rome at the weekend and days off. The beach is very crowded as most of the beach areas are private and can't be used by the general public. The hotel is pretty basic but inexpensive and served its purpose, with the airport transfer facility being first class.

After three weeks traveling in Europe, my wife and I were flying out of Rome airport back to the States. Our flights were a day apart, so I stayed at La Riva one night and my wife two nights. Our balcony overlooked the Mediterranean Sea across the way. It was a great relaxed way to finish up our travels.

Worst Experience ever!

I had the worst experience of staying in La Riva Hotel with my wife on 23rd and 24th April 2014. The pictures were very deceiving and totally give you a wrong picture of the hotel, therefore if yoiu want to book this hotel make sure that you do not rely on the pictures and you know what to expecct.When we arrived the instant put off was the hotel in itself which looked really shabby and not maintained. Apparently the reception was not in the hotel and was next door in another hotel which we had trouble finding initially.
We had missed our flight to Rome because of family emergency and therefore couldnt make it on 23rd April night although was booked in for two nights and they still charged us for that although we had told them specifically about it as well but the staff was very very rude. It was reaally warm and we asked for a fan because they said that the airconditioning is not going to be on till May! nd we were told that we cannot have the fan because they are locked up in the store room !!!! We repeated this request several times but were told the same thng every time and we coulldn't sleep the whole night!!! I fleed out of the hotel very happily the following morning and was sadly regretting paying so much for such a place!The toilet was in a pathetic condition and the toilet seat was broken which wasdnt fixed !The walls were paper thin and we could literally hear the people from the next room!! The atmosphere of the hotel is really weird and cheap!

The hotel is close to the beach and a short walk to the station. There is plenty of free parking on the streets outside. But the rooms were small, equipped with a tiny tv, dull, smelled damp and the towels were like table cloths. The staff are pleasant and breakfast is ok.

Not close to Fiumicino. Not a nice hotel.

Got there late. Had to check in at a lobby down the street. Drag my bags back and forth. A sea view is not a sea view. That was a lie. There were open rooms with mattresses flipped over. Horrible. My room phone had no dial tone. The TV was 10 inches wide. I didn't feel safe. The best thing about this hotel is the nice shuttle service driver to Fuimicino. I guess you get what you pay for...

Perfect Rome location

Really nice hotel, short walk to the train station and a €6 ticket gets you into Rome and includes metro access as well. After a day pounding the pavements in Rome get back and have a swim in the sea opposite on the free access beach which has a nice bar on it as well. really enjoyed our stay here and would go back again given the opportunity. Our Family room was very spacious, clean and had good air con. The only downer was that we parked on the street and not in the hotels private parking area and we had our car broken into. Not the hotels fault of course and in reality could have happened at any of the places we stayed at on our holiday. having foreign plates on the car made it a target.

Close to Sea and Airport

Clean room conveniently located across the street from the sea. For a last night stay in Rome and close to the airport it was a nice place to end our trip. Only confusion was finding a check-in desk. You need to know that you have to walk down the block a bit to find the check-in desk for LaRiva and a neighboring hotel. The hotel provided a shuttle to the airport for a nominal fee.

transport from airport is expensive but hotel gives 1 free transport in the morning and 1 in the night plus its very ease to use public transport to move around ( bus and metro).

Had an enjoyable stay by the beach at La Riva

La Riva is an easy 30min train journey from the centre of Rome. Its very affordable and the room was as expected. Breakfast was a great variety and quite good. The main hotel where checkin/checkout, breakfast and the spa is, is actually a short walk away (about 4 doors down) and got a bit annoying after awhile. The train station is so close and only €1.50 into town so we loved that.
The area looks a bit rough but there are some nice cafes on the beach front.
The service was very good and front desk girls were friendly and helpful.

Ótima opção fora do centro de Roma ! Fica à beira mar , e a estação do metrô fica a uma caminhada de 10 minutos ! O estacionamento é gratuito em frente ao hotel , evite deixar objetos dentro do carro à vista .

Leider sehr in die Jahre gekommen, sehr hellhörig, sehr unsicheres Gefühl im Zimmer, vor allem durch Unterbringung im separaten Gebäude, die klapprigen Türen und fragwürdigen Geräusche aus dem Nachbarzimmer, hab ich nachts kein Auge zugemacht. Die Lage am Strand ist aber ziemlich gut und tagsüber ist es in Ordnung, genau wie das Frühstück okay ist. Personal sehr freundlich, aber den Flughafen-Shuttle gibt es nicht, auch wenn es in der Hotel-Beschreibung und der Transporter vor der Tür steht

Otroligt lyhört kändes som att grannarna var i rummet, man hörde vad som sades och gjordes. Rumsdörrarna stängdes med en smäll, ingen mjukstängning fanns.

Struttura sul Lungo mare ostiense, attorno praticamente nulla.
A piedi il posto più vicino sta a 10/15 min.
La pulizia del bagno della camera da vomitare, bidè e doccia erano super sporchi.
Personale alla reception cortese e gentile, il fratello del titolare un buzzuro per non parlare di come si rivolge ai ragazzi che lavorano.

Die Unterkunft hat eine gute Lage in der Nähe vom Strand. Das Zimmer war sauber und wurde jeden Tag geputzt. Es gab Frühstück und vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis war es in Ordnung. Leider gab es einen Vorfall während unseren Aufenthalts dort und aus diesem Grund kann ich keine gute Gesamtbewertung abgeben. Wir haben unser Auto direkt gegenüber dem Hotel geparkt. Am frühen Morgen wurde unser Auto und noch drei weitere auf dieser Straße eingebrochen. Die Glasscheibe wurde zerbrochen und Sachen aus dem Kofferraum entwendet. Soweit ich mitbekommen habe wird das Hotel auch Nachts überwacht. Es wurde jedoch beim Einbruch (kaum zu überhören) keine Polizei unmittelbar gerufen. Wir haben uns umgehört und offensichtlich ist es dort alltäglich, dass Autos mit fremden Kennzeichen eingeschlagen werden. Umso schockierter war ich über die Gleichgültigkeit des Personals, als ich Sie drauf angesprochen habe. Plötzlich hieß es ihrerseits es gäbe noch einen Parkplatz im Innenhof. Beim Check-in wurde mir diese Information vorenthalten, obwohl ich zweimal drauf hingewiesen habe, dass ich mit dem Auto komme. Wir wurden nicht mal informiert, dass man mit dem Auto in dieser Gegend aufpassen muss. Wir mussten wegen des Vorfalls einen Tag länger bleiben und die zusätzliche Nacht wurde uns zum regulären Preis abkassiert. Also auch hier kein Entgegenkommen. Meiner Meinung ist die Sicherheit dem Hotel offensichtlich gleichgültig und aus diesem Grund kann ich die Unterkunft persönlich nicht empfehlen.

Uniquement pour dormir rien d’autre

Séjour en amoureux à Rome, arrivée à l’hôtel on nous informe que c’est l’hôtel juste à côté pourtant c’est bien le nom de cet hôtel sur la réservation. Donc obligé de changer d’hôtel même si il est a 3 minutes à pied mais aucune information à ce sujet lors de la réservation. Par conséquent obligé de changer d’hôtel pour tous les petits déjeuners, qu’il fasse froid ou qu’il pleuve. impossible d’accéder au Jacuzzi car dans l’autre hôtel.
Le p’tit dej était très très limité, pas de chocolat, pas de yaourt… uniquement des croissants du café et des céréales vraiment très moyen

Fint til et par nætter i Ostia

Fin hotel til et par nætter, beliggenhed er god, rent, tæt på stranden. Morgenmad er dårlig, meget kedelig. Billede af boblebad er fra hotellet, som er en anden bygning, ikke noget man har lyst til at bruge om sommeren, da der er overdækket med markise og vinduer, føles som at være i sauna.

Zustand „gebraucht“ - Service mangelhaft

Zimmerzustand sehr „gebraucht“ - Reparaturen wären notwendig. Sehr ringhörig. Anfragen per Mail zu Transfer wurden trotz mehrmaligem Nachfragen nicht beantwortet. Frühstück wäre für Italien eigentlich gut, aber der Koch muss alles alleine machen (Buffet auffüllen, Tische abräumen) und so war das Buffet meist leer. Wenn aufgefüllt wird dann nur wenig und so hat es sofort wieder nichts mehr.

Dirty and noisy hotel

No room ready upon arrival despite arriving after 2 p.m. Found used shampoo bottles in shower, from previous guest and room very dirty. During first night and next morning very noisy on stair just outside room, not knowing is it was other guests or staff. First and last visit to this hotel
