Very noisy upstairs. Stomping around and lots of door slamming. Also, the grab bar inside the tub area was broken. Pulled out from the wall and I almost fell. The body soap and shampoo containers were empty and the toilet paper rolls are on the opposite wall from the toilet so I had to practically get off the toilet to even reach the toilet paper. Ridiculous set up. That grab bar must be fixed. So dangerous. Don’t the cleaners check these things? Very disappointed with this visit and I do not like being on that side of the motel. On the Rm 115 side. I prefer being across from the office. I will only stay there if I can be across from the office Not where I was this visit. Should have higher toilets for older people. Very disappointing.

Beware that “multiple beds” equates to sleeper sofas which are old and uncomfortable. When I asked staff for a room with actually two beds they nodded and gave me a room with one bed and a sleeper sofa. Then they over charged me for the room which I’m dealing with through Orbitz now. The hotel is demanding paperwork for the charge as if they have no clue of my booking or charges. I’ll never consider staying here again under any circumstances.

Older 50s-60s era roadside motel next to CT state highway. Many updates and overall property is in great shape. Awesome Olympic diner across the street and easy 2 minute walk away. We stayed for one night and found the unit clean and beds comfy. Our host was very pleasant at check in. Plenty of free parking onsite and near Hammonessett State Reservation, Guilford center and a short drive to I-95.

There was an odd smell coming from all the sheets and blankets in the room. I rented two rooms for my family and the other room also experienced the same thing with the odor from sheets. Overall the room was ok. Bathroom was fine. Beds were a nice size and the air conditioning worked well.

Family business, everyone is attentive, friendly, and accommodating. Architecturally, the Inn has the nostalgic charm of a 1960s motel from a movie set, but with modern amenities. My only complaint is that the climate-control wall unit is rather loud. But that's a small issue. It's a very chill & friendly \"motor court.\"

Stay elsewhere in the winter.

We arrived around 9 pm after a much longer drive than expected due to traffic in a cold rainy winter night. Looking forward to a comfortable room. The heat in the room was turned OFF and this was winter. The heater in the room was really noisy and we had to keep our coats and shoes on to stay warm. There is no carpet in the floor which was freezing.
On the positive side, there was plenty of hot water, the bed was comfortable, and the WiFi was fine. We will not take a chance on staying here ever again.

The WiFi does not reach the rooms in the back of the property. We kept getting a message that said we needed to \"move closer\". And the majority if the tV stations on the direct TV had such poor connection that they were unwatchable.

Genuinely awful place to stay

Had booked for 3 of us including my 1 year old daughter, and requested a crib. When checking in, I asked about the crib and the owner just said no dont have one. Daughter ended up having to sleep in a king side bed and genuinely fell out the bottom during the night. Signs everywhere saying they take no responsibility if your belongings are stolen which was disconcerting. Rooms look on to car park, and doors dont fill the frames very well so room was freezing, had to have heat on full blast which stank, and came on and off as the temperature raised and dropped which was extremely noisy, waking our daughter up each time. Wifi wasnt available when we arrived, fridge wasnt clean, bed wasnt clean, everything in the room very old. Was also really expensive for some reason, a genuinely shocking hotel. Didnt feel safe at all.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I arrived and there was nobody at what seemed to be a motel-type desk. I had to call the phone for someone to appear. While the gentleman was friendly, this was the only decent part of the experience. I walked into the suite and was immediately met with a dank, musty odor and moldy furniture. I immediately knew I could not spend 5 seconds in this place, let alone an overnight stay. I didn’t even want to put my bag down on the floor. I have never had such a negative visceral reaction to a room, and honestly I found myself going 500 ft up the road to the Comfort Inn. I tried to get a refund through hotels.com but since it was pre paid apparently there is nothing they can do.

We left after one night as we the sheets were filthy and had blood stains. The toilet was falling of the wall, gnats were flying out of the sink, bugs and cobwebs and it had a mildew smell. I am know trying to get my money back from Expedia. Funny thing is we went to the Comfort Inn right next store and it was the same owners. It is clear the chain brand gets attention and they are just running the old hotel in to the ground for poor souls that are trying to get out cheap. Never again

The outside was a little worrisome at first, but the room itself was nice and big and clean. There were some strange spots on the ceiling, a crack all the way around the ceiling in the bathroom, and the security lock was not very effective, but it was quiet and clean and the staff was nice. It worked well for our quick weekend trip.

This is a very basic motel. You do get a mini fridge and a cooktop and microwave. The room next door was occupied by 2 constantly inebriated men and that did not make me feel very safe. They seem to live there as they never went anywhere. Every time I returned to our room we had to get a new key. They just stopped working. That was not convenient. I don't want to pile on but we won't be back.

I arrived at the inn at 2:30 and checked in. When I went into my room, it hadn't been cleaned. I spoke to the guy at the front desk and he said \"oh, well your check-in time is 3. He's going to go clean it now.\" I was skeptical because the room was a suite and there was no way it would be sufficiently cleaned in 30 minutes, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I left and when I came back at 2:55, the cleaning guy was just walking up to my room and hadn't even started to clean it. I explained to the front desk manager that I had a wedding rehearsal at 4 and needed to get ready, and requested a different room, telling him I was fine with a downgrade and they could refund me the difference. He said that they couldn't do that because they were fully booked. My room wasn't ready until 3:40! The front desk manager never apologized or offered any kind of restitution, and was generally rude and smug.

The room itself was fine - nothing special, a little dingy but not awful. However, there were a lot of bugs, specifically silverfish and ants. The coffee maker didn't work. There was a little stove but no kitchewares to use with it. I woke up the morning of check-out and there was one in the shower, so I said \"eff it\" and decided to just leave. When I went to check out at 8:30am, there was no one in the office. I waited around for 5 minutes and ended up just leaving the key on the desk and peacing out.

The pictures of the room were not fitting to the actual room. There was blood stains on lamp shade, inside Mostly. There is a full spider colony above the curtain. The guy was very nice at the desk but for the price I would expect to have at the very least a clean room.

We rented this room to stay for a night for a nearby wedding. We did not end up staying overnight. Upon our arrival to our room, we inspected the beds and found a bug (we didn’t verify the type of bug) on the mattress. Also, the pillows for sleeping weren’t actual bed pillows. They were small throw pillows. We left immediately and ate the cost of the room. Pro: the woman at the front desk was friendly and offered to give us another room. But after the questionable bug, we weren’t stepping foot in any room there again.

The room was clean and the staff polite. There is a great diner right across the street that offers organic and vegetarian choices and some great local hiking trail minutes away. The room offered a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave and coffee pot. My only criticism is when we first got there the heat was not on at all and it took a few hours for the room to was up, being in the teens outside. We had to huddle together on the bed with our coats on! Not the best start to a romantic weekend getaway! But other than that our experience was great.

Bait-n-Switch

They pulled a bait and switch on us. We had booked a suite with two king beds. When we arrived to check in we were told the room was unavailable due to plumbing issues. No one called us to tell us. Then they charged our credit card as if we were staying there. Than the owner said we will stay next door at the Comfort inn and ended up with a standard room with two double beds. Hence the bait and switch.

Turns out owner owns both properties. So when booked promised a suite with two king beds only to be moved next door to the Comfort inn. The room was small and standard size. Not what we booked. All a scam to fill the rooms at comfort inn. That's what the price we paid on Expedia actually covered the cost for.

The room cost was the same. So when owner said \"oh, I'll cover the difference in cost\" There was no difference and he owns both properties. He was misleading us and not forth coming with that information. I kept asking why would the Comfort inn let us stay at that property if you charged my credit card at the Tower inn. No response.

I got the information from the front desk. That he owned both properties. So he offers on Expedia a low cost suite with two king beds, and if you take it, you actually are booking a standard room with two double beds at the Comfort in next door. I do not appreciate the bait and switch. Or lack of truthful information. And the fact charge on my credit card as if we stayed at the Tower inn to satisfy the Expedia Contract that was book

There were bugs in the room-cockroaches, spiders, the room was tiny, the bed had all kinds of lumps-it felt like it was 50 years old, and the bathroom door would not close fully, adversely affected privacy, there were not enough parking spaces, and, last but not least the vending machines did not work. Quirky but good overall.

We stay here often after Christmas, and for the most part it works out well, except for a few quirks: often there's no one at the office and you have to go next door to the Comfort Inn to get help, and often the rooms are not heated to normal temperatures before you get there. Other than that, the rooms are comfortable, clean and up to date.

It's a give and take...

This hotel is clean and neat, if a tad tired. Rooms are dark - lighter wallpaper and drapes could cheer it up a lot! Double beds were uncomfortable - probably time for a new mattress - and the sheet and blanket barely fit over the mattress. There is no breakfast offered, but there is a microwave and fridge - we bought our own cereal, milk and juice and were just fine. Overall, decent for the money, and we will likely stay again. For the amount of time we spend in a room, this was fine for us.

The room and property are \"basic.\" We chose because of the location near our children-- too far from New Haven if that is what you need. But there is one thing amazing about the property: it is across the street from a stupendously good breakfast diner / luncheon restaurant. I don't think I know a better breakfast restaurant.
