The resort is very clean and well maintained. There was an issue with a heavy smoke smell in the room. According to the stuff it was coming from the fireplace downstairs. We had to keep the window open through the night.
We attended a musical show with the dinner on Saturday night. Next day I was very surprised to find out that my credit card was charged for 6 tickets instead of 2. I spend a long time on the phone to block the charges, that ended up with credit card cancelation.
That's why I rated my stay there as OK instead of very good.

The staff throughout our stay was amazing. Our room was spotless and so comfortable. Beautiful view from the balcony. The spa was beautiful. We had relaxing massages. We ate in the main dining room. Our waiter was great and the food was amazing. We had so much fun using the jacuzzi and the pool which were very clean. So convenient having Starbucks in the hotel and a lovely gift shop. The valet staff were kind and helpful with our luggage. We will definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel for your stay. We went during the cold weather but would love to come back in the warmer weather.

Couldn’t sleep. Trucks unloading kitchen deliveries outside our hotel room window at 4:00 AM.
Also had large weddings which restricted access to areas. Parking difficult.

Excessive noise, loud rumble and lots of incessant creaking in bathroom (mostly.) Perhaps air handler on roof. We were on 3rd floor. Ice machine next to room out of order, they said they would attend to it. But it was still out of order when we left. The unit on top of it was very, very noisy as well. Beautiful location. Friendly, helpful staff. But somewhat run down surprisingly. Finish coming off door handles, etc., etc

On four separate occasions, including in front of other guests and staff, her tone and demeanor were unwelcoming and disrespectful. At one point she even came out and loudly stated her full first name and last name when I asked if she was the same person on check in . Then she slammed paperwork on the front desk .
This behavior turned what was meant to be a special mother–daughter getaway into a disappointing experience.

Because of this, we will not be returning to the property. I wanted to share this feedback so it can be addressed for the sake of future guests.

Looking for a relaxing summer get away and this didn't disappoint. Beautiful property on the water. Beach was clean and chairs and umbrellas provided. Staff was super professional and accommodating. Outside bar and restaurants, no need to leave the property. Surrounding area was quiet and close drive to the town of Essex.

Nice beach front resort for New England.
Water very murky, beach area is small, but pool was nice. Just over crowded with little kids. Loved when the little boy told his mom he was peeing in the pool, and the mother just laughed.
Beds were awful. Pillows were so hard and uncomfortable. Could barely move our necks when we got up. Bed was also very springy.
Italian restaurant - one waiter to the entire outdoor section. Never checked on us, not once, food took over an hour. Not much of Italian food on menu, one pasta dish. Food was good though, once we finally got it. We ended up getting appetizer with main dish. Not sure if the food was never put in, or what happened, but no one ever said a thing to us, not until we finally got the waiters attention…after an hour.
Seaside grill, love the outdoor atmosphere, menu was very limited to hand held and appetizers, pricey for what is it.
Overall, not bad. Property is nice, just needs new beds and better menus at restaurants. If you’re looking to relax at a nice New England resort, probably not the best since it’s a very family oriented place, lots of kids.

We stayed in the villas. Everything was absolutely perfect. My 88-year-old mom was able to be on the deck, enjoying the views while we were at the sound and in the pool. The staff was fantastic. Everything was spotless. The other guests were so respectful quiet- it was such an easy vacation. It was incredible.

It is not a cheap hotel at all! Overall, the money you pay deserves much more!
The ground of the hotel is really nice; you don't need to go outside at all! The grass area, private beach, few restaurants, bars.... Thats why we booked the hotel. Having a private beach is great, but beach chairs and beach towels could be much better. On Sunday, there was just 1 waiter for the beach service, and beach was totally full.
The pool was very disappointing, very shallow, like it is just for kids!
I really like the bar area, and the live music.
Food was okay at the Seaview Bistro, I ordered steak frites, instead of fries they serve potato wedges, that was weird!
When it comes to SPA, we had a massage, it is spa hotel so I assume it would be nicer, the relaxation room was like doctor's office waiting room :( Massage was okay.

The property is very nice as well as the staff. My main concern was cleanliness. My room was not very clean when I first arrived. The carpet had apparently not been vacuumed. There were Cheerios, beads, and band-aid wrappers on the floor. There were food stains on the wall. I wonder what else was not clean.

Dinner service was awful. Reservation for 7:00 served dinner at 8;15. Had a glass of wine would have enjoyed another but one person was doing everything. Asked for manager which took over half hour. Richard was condescending. Met others after dinner, nobody was happy. Asked at checkout for discount but since I didn't bill to room, they could not credit to room bill. Next time I am billing to room wherever I go

My husband and I stayed only one day which was lovely but they definitely overbooked and the minimal beach they had was shoulder to shoulder and the pool was overcrowded hence it was not inviting to enjoy those amenities .likely not to return and the clerk that checked us out did not ask nor cared why we were checking out a day sooner. She just said \"oh, you booked via Expedia;paid in advance, you're good to go\"

We were greeted so beautifully by Cassandra and the young man she was training at the guest registration. She is a gem! I love this place. Next time I wish I could have a better view. I went there before the new rooms were added. Every time I went there, I stayed in the main building right upstairs from the check-in facing the water with my husband and I absolutely loved it. I was actually married there in the old ballroom. I was put in a room that I faced the side of the building and parking lot. I like it there because you can have your meals there if you want they should put a microwave in the rooms. I grew up there on the shore when I was a kid so it is a very pretty place. I think it’s understaffed. I saw the same woman there almost 3 shifts in a row. I think she was a manager. She was delivering drinks, which I thought was crazy and then I saw her the next morning at breakfast time being the hostess, I said to her, don’t you ever get a day off she said thank you for noticing. She was a very pleasant, nice woman, but I think it’s understaffed. I stayed there during the wrong time of year. It was spring break. Children were running up and down the hallway, which was not appropriate And they were with a parent. That’s what really got me - back in the day when I was a parent of young children, I would never let my children run up and down the hallways but times are different now -not for the better!!!

Quick impromptu perfect get away the night before Easter. I've stayed here before in the main building, and wasn't a huge fan..... Staying in the building on the LI sound was spectacular! It was beautiful, updated, and had all the luxury comforts of home. Full size kitchen, washer and dryer, wine fridge, gas stove, microwave, & fireplace. I loved falling asleep while listening to the waves hitting the shoreline at night, & the bed was extremely comfortable! My daughter met me with my grandchildren, and the hotel staff brought a crib to the room. Even the crib was beautiful!!! Dinner at the hotel was outstanding, the surf and turf came out perfect....Waters Edge exceeded my every expectation this trip, I'm so glad I decided to come!
