This place is a complete train wreck. Upon arrival, no one was at the front desk. There’s no bell no way to summon anyone. Someone popped their head in and said that the front desk person would be around in 10 minutes when they were done with the bathroom, but they couldn’t help me the next day went to go to the front desk at 8 AM and no one was there went back at 9 AM. Still, no one was there. The front door was locked, and nobody was answering the phone. They clearly launder their own towels, poorly, and all of their towels were rough and stained. The only redeeming quality in this entire place was the very pleasant girl at the front desk, who tries her best to help people, but clearly no one is supporting her in anyway and this place is somewhere I will never stay again

Front office was never open on time, coffee pots in room were dirty, linen service wasn’t provided, chair in one room was missing a screw and unsafe, tv in other room had lousy picture quality, beds were too high for elderly guest, the entire stay is the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. Pros: Spacious room, clean bedding and towels, plenty of hot water, nice view of beautiful large trees, easy check-in and friendly staff.
Cons: All three chairs available in our room were broken and unsafe to use…even though we addressed this with front lobby, laminate room floor was dirty…my white socks were covered with bits of hair, lint, dirt from outside, low toilet and toilet seat was loose, TV did not work well AND, very important…free breakfast was non-existent. Hotels.com should update the amenities listed for this hotel.

I had a very late arrival because of long travel and the Owner graciously met me after the hotel had closed and gave me my key. This is east of Yale by about half an hour drive and I stayed here for Yale graduation. The room was large, clean, and spacious, and there was adequate parking. The premises felt safe for a lady solo traveler. Would highly recommend, especially for any Yale function because it is an easy drive, very findable. Many thanks to the Owner!

The staff is the glowing positive here, they are helpful and caring about the comfort of your stay. The problems started when I got into the room, it’s very outdated, the cable on the TV had been snapped out of the back(new tv brought in), one chair arm rest wasn’t attached to the rest of the chair, and my back was killing me after sleeping on the bed.

MISINFORMATION ON WEBSITE. CAUSED PROBEMS!

For what I was looking for, the motel was fine. The problem was the Hotels.com website had misinformation posted about this motel. The website stated it was pet friendly only to find out it was NOT per friendly. Initially the motel warned it would apply a $300 fine for anyone who brought a pet against its policy. I found this out after I booked the room and then tried to preregister on my phone. I took the cancellation insurance policy, but when I called them about cancelling, they wanted me to read a 40-page declaration page which had nothing, but outrageous reason needed for a cancellation. I book the room on the Friday I was going to spend the night - one night. One of the cancellation reasons was adoption of a child????!!!! So, if I adopted a child in the 3 or 4 hours between making the reservation and getting to the motel, I could cancel. Total rip off.

My family couldn’t reach me because I was having cell service issues so they called the front desk the evening they couldn’t reach me and then the morning after. The hotel employee told my daughter it was too early at 6am and refused to transfer her and then hung up on her. My sister tried calling and the ee picked up the phone and said stop calling. I was walking down the stairs that morning and the tread was work on the steps I slipped Ave hit my head at the bottom of the stairs C now it’s 630am. No ee came to see what the commotion was. I exited close to the entrance my suitcase went flying I slipped from the 3rd step and nothing. I then knocked on the door rang the door bell and nothing. Lazy employees.

The towels were dirty & covered in someone elses hair & the bedding was stained. The walls were paper thin so when my neighbor woke me up at 1:40am, i stayed up until leaving early the next day. I called the front desk T E N times before finally walking to the desk to see no one was there. I rang the doorbell & nothing. If i needed anything or happened to get locked out of my room i was stuck in the cold. One of my worst stays in connecticut.

The room was clean but the walls were so thin and we heard the people next to us. We heard everything from the people above us as well. They made noise doing God knows what ALL night long into morning. We had the worst nights sleep ever. We also smelled them smoking through the vents in the bathroom. We should have changed our room when we first got there but my fiancé didn’t want to cause a problem.

The woman at the front desk when we checked in was very nice. That’s pretty much our only plus for this stay. We paid way too much money to not be able to sleep.

We checked in. The door lock did not work. It took until 7:30 pm. to fix it and get keys. Asked us to move upstairs about 7 pm. And I am disabled with a very bad back. We could not go to dinner. It is advertised as having a pool and room service in which the property DOES NOT HAVE. I paid upon entering a fee of $30 to check out late. It is advertised as $20 until 1pm, $30 until 3 pm. The office called at 11:30 asking if something was wrong. Reminded I paid to check out then again called us at 12:30. We were so angry and uncomfortable, we left even though we paid to stay. Asked for a receipt upon checking out. I was told it would not print and would be emailed to me. I checked before leaving the property, went back in and made sure it was the correct address. I was told I would receive it in an hour. I never received it. It was the worst stay I ever had in my 56 years of traveling!!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Super 8 by Wyndham in Old Saybrook for two days and one night while attending a wedding. They advertise a pool and breakfast items which is why I booked this location, however their pool had been closed for 4 years and there were no breakfast items. Upon arrival the door would not open and we had to change rooms. The interior of the fridge was completely covered with mold so we couldn’t save our leftovers from a restaurant. The bathroom floor was pooling water leaking from the toilet which soaked my socks, and the coffee pot in the room was broken.

The first room I was assigned reeked of cigarette smoke. I was given another room and this one had no key to the door that worked so I had to have someone at the desk unlock my door each time. Negatives: constant calls from front desk, about a leak to the room beneath us, when we didn't have any water on floor in bathroom , and toliet was wabaly, not secure to floor . And complain of noise from us, when we just were packing to check out. No rough housing at all from us.

The room smelled of cleaning products and the rooms were dated however we were only spending a night in a budget hotel so you get what you pay for
the room had two beds and one had a stain on the sheet so we slept in the other and that one had a stain on the comforter
the breakfast was continental so recommend eating someplace else. breakfast was in a brown bag and was a donut and a granola bar a fruit cup and a fruity drink
if you are looking for no frills budget stay I would recommend staying here however I would check the sheets or bring your own

Attended a show at the Goodspeed and was looking for an inexpensive place to stay overnight. Very easy access from highway. Nice pasta/pizza place right next door. Smooth check in. Clean room. We have stayed there before and it is convenient to shopping outlets. This time we had trouble getting checked. First battery was dead in room key reader so had to walk back downstairs and given new keys for room next door which opened up to someone in the room. Walk back downstairs, get keys to third room. They have coffee pot in room, but no cups. No hair dryer but hole in bathroom wall where it used to be. Lights flickered on and off. TV had a lousy picture and buffered. This time we stayed on the side of the hotel next to railroad tracks and they ran most of the night. This may be our last time staying there…

We booked this hotel because they offered a free breakfast. THEY DO NOT!!! That’s false advertising.
We had an old shopping cart, containing a toilet cleaning brush and a broken desk chair outside our window. The closet contained dried out paint rollers, brushes, drop cloth, paint tray and paint! There was also an ironing board with a filthy cover. The mirror trim in the bathroom was partly missing. Very tired place. Don’t stay there!

Place was decent and simple and clean. I let the front desk know about a late check-in after seeing a concert in Mohegan Sun and we were coming from out of state and going straight to the concert. They accommodated us for late checking in and it worked out, but still was strange that no one will be at front desk after a certain time, especially for those coming from out of state. The place was easy to find and the surroundings seemed safe and quiet. There's many shops and eateries around the hotel. Hotel room is accessible from the outside. There had to be security cameras around. Needs new carpeting and upkeep for the outside hallways and steps, it looked old. Other than that, hotel room was decent and simple. It was clean, except some little hairs in bathtub; still remarkably clean. Towels are thin. No breakfast was served, only coffee. Breakfast was discontinued last year as per front desk. Expedia needs to update again about their “breakfast included” advertising (this is the 2nd time with Expedia of their outdated info). We did find good breakfast/brunch at the Parthenon Diner two miles away. Front office is always locked, but someone can help you by pushing the front button, or calling the main number. Bea (front desk staff/owner?) was very nice and attended to our needs. Thank you for the comfortable one night stay!

Nice stay, no breakfast plus a few problems

My stay was fine and the king bed was very comfortable, although there wasn't a great selection of TV shows. There was a password protected internet access. But the pool wasn't open as it used to be several years ago and there was no continental breakfast as there used to be, which I really missed. Moreover, the desk clerk told me that there would be breakfast between 7:30 and 9:30 am, but this wasn't so. Lastly, although the desk clerk was very friendly, I am worried that I was charged twice for my stay, once before I arrived possibly by hotels.com and then again when I arrived, even after I explained my credit card had already been charged. I hope that the first was only a pending charge but I have no way to check until I return home.

Great customer service (in & out), room was nice and clean, mostly quiet (AM train next to the hotel woke me up), plenty of parking.

The woman at the desk was fabulous—welcoming, helpful, engaged and kind. That was the last good thing. Toilet had a dirty ring inside, tv was full of static and unwatchabl, amenities unpleasant, etc. Bed was fine. And because it was Thanksgiving, price was double the normal rate so we paid $200 for a Rm that should have cost 80. Maximum.

A sad reflection on the Wyndham Chain

I wouldn’t stay at this location again there was a very significant crack in the bathroom basin, the WiFi was so weak that it was unusable
