I cannot understand how this hotel has a 9 rating for reviews. It's at best a 6. Excellent location and nice breakfast but the hotel itself is not in good condition.

The hotel was an old colonial style house with a patio in the middle and rooms all around it. Very unique! It came with quirks -- one of the room doors got stuck, but the staff was super accommodating and lovely! We got in late and the front desk staff made us grilled ham and cheese and french fries! The breakfast staff was very friendly as well and made whatever you wanted in the moment. If you don't mind a few quirks and appreciate a unique experience, then I'd definitely recommend Hotel Casa de la Vega!

This place is a hidden gem. It’s centrally located to a lot of things in la Candelaria and it’s clean and safe. Andres is absolutely fantastic. He’s attentive, friendly and makes you feel at home. The truth is that the rest of the staff is really wonderful.

The one thing to consider is that the building is old with wooden rickety floors. You definitely will hear everyone coming in at all hours. This was not an issue for us because we had ear plugs, and after a long day, we slept right through it. But definitely can’t beat it.

The area itself felt fine during the day and at night. There are a lot of college kids in the area, so it’s always lively. …oh and breakfast was real good! We would definitely stay here again!

It is located in a great area but too much noise from the street. You can't walk barefoot in the room because the floor is very old and has so many gaps between the wood. You can hear all the cars, motorcycles, and people talking from the street because the room doesn't have any insolation.

Fair for short stay

It is an authentic building with lot of charm but it is quite difficult to sleep at night if you are located on the 1 st floor. You can hear everything happening in the room upstairs.

The hotel is conveniently located, perfect for sightseeing. The room we had faced the courtyard so it’s nice and quiet. The room was spacious and the bathroom was newly remodeled although the doors were very old and the locks seem shaky. The staff was helpful.

The staff here was very amiable and helpful. Despite a fairly busy street out front our 2nd story room facing the street was very quiet due to updated double windows.
The property itself is a classic hotel from early last century with many charming design features. Do not expect a new modern hotel but instead enjoy a visit to a previous place in time.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic colonial building a minute away from Plaza de Bolivar right in the middle of La Candelaria Bogota’s historical neighborhood. Rooms are clean, the staff is helpful and friendly, there is good free wifi, You can dine in the hotel or try one of the several superb restaurants and bar around.

Charming in Candelaria

Fabulous colonial small hotel. Very convenient and centrally located in Candelaria. The staff are amazing from the reception, to cleaning, to breakfast. Really enjoyed the character of the building and all day coffee and tea in the breakfast area. The neighbourhood gets quiet at night but there are a number of cafes and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. I highly recommend this place, in fact I’ve enjoyed it so much I have booked to stay here again at the end of my trip.

Great value stay in Candelaria in a lovely old colonial house. The service was great - they couldn’t have been more helpful. Area is in Candelaria so you have to use common sense when walking around and take taxis at night but worth the price to stay.

Beautiful hotel in historic former home

Here are the top things about this hotel:
1. It is in the heart of the area you need to be in Bogotá, Candeleria
2. It is a beautifully renovated old family home, with lovely original features, decorated ceilings, wooden floors, gorgeous glazed atrium, double doors and door shutters to the rooms.
3. The service is personal, friendly and very helpful, for all our requests, even a light late-evening meal when we needed it to take some medication with, plus a packed breakfast for our early start at the bus terminal.
4. The shower was hot, and high pressured.
5. The breakfast was very nice including tailor- made omelettes to order.
6. Our room (908) was perfect as our two daughters (18 and 26) could sleep on the sofa bed.
7. The hotel is close walking distance from the Museo Botero and the Gold Museum.

When you arrive the hotel is on one of the busiest streets in Candeleria and you might think noise would be a concern. Yet the double glazing in our room (908) was phenomenal, you literally could not hear a thing. We had a great time here, I can’t imsgine there is a better place to stay in Candeleria, especially given the price is reasonable.

The property was beautiful and in a great location to discover some of the highlights of Bogota. Unfortunately the shower in our room had problems getting hot water (staff informed me that it was one of the rooms that had not yet been updated with a new pump), but other than that our stay was very pleasant.

Professional staff and beautifully kept building

Such friendly owners/managers ... they waited up so late for us after our flight was 3 hours late. The building is so well preserved and renovated... nicely done! Some fine touches, like special soaps. I was very pleased with my one night stay!

Nice little hotel in older part of the city

Very secure & safe, as you have to be buzzed in by someone on reception. The room was clean and spacious, but a little chilly at night! The bed was really comfy, & the duvet definitely helps to keep you warm. Breakfast was pretty good - the staff cook eggs for you on request, but make sure you get up to ask them when you see them, as they don’t always come over to offer. The hotel is in La Candelaría, which can be pretty sketchy at night time, so just be aware when walking about, & preferably don’t walk alone! Overall, a pretty good stay.

Great for history/architecture buffs, not mod cons

This is a beautiful old building that is in great condition and staffed by lovely folks. It is not, however, a fully modern renovation. The water pressure is piss poor (pardon the pun) and the drafty old place is chilly in the cool Bogota nights. Tnere's slow wifi and cable TV with one non-Spanish language channel, but a mini fridge would be nice, considering how much space there is in the room. Great hotel for what it is, but be aware its not a 21st century joint yet.

Gorgeous hotel & amazing staff

To preface, I have worked reception & concierge at 5-star hotels in Europe and Australia, so I know good service, and this hotel has it.

The historic hotel is beautifully up kept. The rooms are large with 15+ foot ceiling and tons of original detail and updated bathrooms. It was a 5 min walk to Plaza Bolivar and the main restaurant street in La Candelaria. (**Full disclosure- there is street noise if you get a room facing the street, but this should be expected in any hotel in the Bogota city centre and should not discourage anyone from booking this hotel.)

The staff were very helpful, and made us feel at home without being over the top. We took the shuttle provided by the hotel to & from the airport and definitely recommend this service as it's the same if not cheaper cost than a taxi.

100% recommend.

Great hotel in La Candelaria! Near major sites!

If you love mansion style hotels and high ceilings, then you must consider this place! Very friendly staff -
front desk, housekeeping, kitchen - excellent! Only complain is tricky shower when it comes to setting temperature. Can't beat location if it's your first time in Bogota and want to see historical and major sites. Seems pretty desolate at night though so will definitely stay in a different neighbor next time I'm in Bogota. Breakfast is ample - eggs are cook to order and they serve very fresh fruit but hotel can enhance by rotating menu. Wifi is solid. Uber is easy to come by too.

Beautiful heritage-style hotel in Bogotá

Spend 10 pleasant days at Casa de la Vega. It's an about 200 years old villa, with rooms centered around inner courtyards, beautifully restored and renovated. Very friendly staff. Walking distance to all major attractions in Bogotá's old town.

New in La Candelaria

Pleased to see a new option in the safe area of La Candelaria: 15 rooms with high ceilings around two patios, affordable lodgings with a good breakfast and kindly staff. This former mansion is a hotel, not a hostel, of which there are many in this area.

A Very Nice Place to Experience Bogota

Although I gave a slightly lower grade for comfort, overall, this is a very good hotel considering its nightly rate and location. If you want the feel and excitement of Bogota this is the place! It is within walking distance to plentiful restaurants and museums. If you like a good brew, the Bogota Beer Company is two blocks away. Bear in mind this hotel is over 200 years old, so, hot water could be interrupted, and heating is not the best. I find the comforter and blanket adequate for the cool nights. The breakfast is excellent. They have the best pineapple and papaya. The breakfast includes a hearty egg dish cooked to our liking. Hotel management are friendly and the housekeeping service is excellent. The hotel management would welcome you with a glass of juice.

There was not hot water in the cold bogota. When i asked them for that. They told me there is no good pressure in this old building.

Petit hôtel de charme au sein de la Candelaria

La Casa de la Vega est un petit hôtel au charme colonial. Deux jolis patios, des plantes....un accueil fort sympathique par l'équipe, un petit déjeuner préparé avec attention, des fruits chaque matin, le pain grillé et surtout une gentillesse extrême de la dame qui gère le petit déjeuner. Central dans la Candelaria, proche des musées de l'or et Botero.
