Virrey Central is a surprising hotel. It is only a short walk to the Museo del Oro and the Plaza. My room was basic but practical and very quiet. Everything is very clean and tidy and the staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is excellent.

Hotel's in a slightly rundown part of town, the rooms are basic and so is the breakfast. However, it's clean and the service is good, plus it's only a few minutes' walk from Bogota's major attractions, so overall it's not a bad choice - especially if price is an issue.

The staff were excellent. From Joana and the other cleaning staff who kept the place sparkling to the kitchen and front desk staff.
Perfectly located in Bogota.
Only downside- if you need a transport, take an Uber, as they overpriced on the van to the airport.

The hotel was good overall. We were able to walk to Plaza Bolívar, Monserrate, Chorro de Quevedo, and several other attractions. While the hotel could use a bit of TLC, it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was tasty and very convenient, making it easy to start our day. We arrived on a Saturday, and on Sunday the Mercado de las Pulgas (a kind of flea market) takes place on the same street. It made walking around a bit tricky, but it wasn’t a major issue.

Excellent location. Friday night tends to get noisy with people drinking in the lobby and singing the night away till midnight. Disconnect between reception and guests. We were asked to pay for breakfast eventhough it was all included. Sorted that out the first morning we were there. On check out, staff wanted us to pay for a lunch meal that we had during our stay there. It was paid for already but the kitchen staff left the bill in our file. In the end, the receptionist understood the situation and we did not pay twice for the same meal.

The hotel was very clean and it was quiet at night for sleeping. Staff is polite and helpful. The breakfast was good. It was great that the restaurant was open late and the food was good. The area is convenient to the historic city and museums (Museo del Oro) and Botero Museum. There were many convenient options for food. Good location between newer and old historic city. I would definitely return to this hotel. Good option.

Hotel Virrey is s satisfactory. Its a decent budget option in downtown bogota. The establishment is a bit worn, but the staff for the most part have excellent customer service skills always aiming to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The Breakfast included in price is filling and tasty. Hotel Grounds and rooms have seen better days. It felt a bit worn. Everything was kept clean though. Bed was comfortable, Room with good wifi, Hot shower with good water pressure.
The Hotel is centrally located withing walking distance to most attractions in the area.

Old, dangerous area, not for families

Hotel is in a really rough area of Bogotá, so bad that the locals tell you not to go outside at night as it is not safe. The hotel is old and needs lots of upkeep. The toilet in our bathroom had no seat, some walls in our room were missing chunks. The restaurant in the hotel was out of most of the items they offered in their menu and what you ordered took forever to be brought out. The staff was nice and accommodating and the room was spacious, but that is pretty much it.

Front desk agent attempted to get me to pay for a room I already paid for online, then scammed me with the food delivery driver by doubling my order without my knowing. Day staff is good, but night staff can't be trusted. It's a well located but also quite dangerous passed 8pm or 9pm. DirecTV just states the bill needs to be paid for the programming to be turned back on (every channel)...

The covers were warm no heating as bogota is cold. But skep super. Actually didn’t need a heater. I asked for a towel but did get it until mid next day. Kind of odd when two people need a towel each. Otherwise it was a nice stay.

There is an elevator, I ate breakfast (free) two of the four days I was there, there is free WiFi and the front desk ladies saved my first day there. I was scammed online of a tour to the Salt Cathedral, and one of the ladies called someone she knew and he came and picked me up, drove me to the Salt Cathedral and gave me a mini tour. They both literally saved my day from being wasted! Wish I had gotten her name, but I so appreciate it! Great customer service!

The property location is great. The staff named Carlos is very good, hardworking. But the reception service is complicated. They asked us to pay more for the immigration stamp which was not asked at other hotels in Colombia. We paid more 15,000, plus hotel rate, and taxes. It was not informed before we check in.
The bathroom door is locked, and the room door is not locked from inside, and etc. Nobody speaks in english. Too many problems we faced here. :-(

Dodgy area. Homeless people sleeping rough. Daytime OK. Close to old town/Monserrate. Rude, surly, unwelcoming, off-putting night staff. Peremptory demands for passports - no smile (unusual in Colombia) . If I hadn't paid before I would have gone elsewhere. Day staff next day helpful and friendly, however. Breakfast OK - chose coffee over juice, scrambled eggs over sweet cereal. Coffees good (had three). Bread/butter/jam. Room safe could not be accessed so left passports, extra money with the day staff to put in their safe. Came back 8.30 pm. Same rude lady on duty. Passports etc could not be found. Told to wait until day staff arrived at 07.00 - but we were leaving at 05.45. Advised to ring police by a Colombian guest. So rang police - VERY impressive; arrived 15 minutes later and read the riot act to the night staff. We were assured that day staff lady would come at 05.30 to open office (NB no actual safe!), Policeman gave us his card and number to ring if still problems the next day. Came down at 05.30 - to find that miraculously the packet with our documents etc had been found during the night. Strange! Sad to leave Bogota and Colombia with this bad impression.

Reasonably priced hotel in central bogota,friendly and helpfull staff.very clean and tidy.
Downside is like most cheaper hotels,the rooms have no windows and so there is a lack of natural light...
Also noticed a lack of hot water when the hotel was full of guests.

Very affordable non chain hotel with personality.

Very close to downtown attractions at a great price. Charming and Used mostly by non foreigners. The area is dangerous after 9 pm. Daytime is fine. 5 minute walk to restaurants and museum of gold. Lots of foot traffic around area too.

This hotel is located in an area where there are a lot of homeless people panhandling, the street in front is riddled with potholes (careful walking on the sidewalk after a downpour as cars passing by will not stop if there is a puddle and pedestrians on the adjacent sidewalk). You also have to be watchful of human and dog poop on the street and sidewalk.

I stayed at El Virrey for 4 nights during a visit to Bogota. It is well located near the historical district and just a block off of a major pedestrian street. Staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was simple but good.

Nos gustó que está céntrico, pero ya al oscurecer la zona es insegura.
El servicio la mayoría de las personas muy accesibles, te dan la facilidad de guardar maletas para que puedas ir a hacer cosas.
La comida muy buena pero no tienen variedad en el platillo y después del segundo día, comer lo mismo no es lo mismo.
Para el precio y la ubicación cumple perfectamente el objetivo, si vas a estar conociendo la ciudad, lo recomiendo

Experiência satisfatória, equipe bem educada e cordial, boa limpeza e organização, mas tivemos muita dificuldade com o uso do chuveiro e a demora pra esquentar a água do banho. Além do desperdício, a temperatura oscilava muito e junto com a má ventilação do ambiente causou muito desconforto.
A localização do hotel, por ser em área bem central, deixa a desejar no quesito segurança. Durante o dia é tranquilo, mas é necessário manter atenção, os próprios funcionários alertam sobre uso de celular e cuidado com bolsas. A noite a sensação de insegurança é ainda maior, mesmo que não nos tenha acontecido nada.

O hotel está muito bem localizado no centro de Bogotá, e a equipe da recepção é extremamente simpática e prestativa. Nos ajudaram com informações sobre a cidade e sugestões de passeios nos arredores, o que fez a diferença na nossa experiência.
No entanto, o hotel é antigo e precisa de reformas, já que as instalações não correspondem mais às fotos divulgadas. O café da manhã, embora saboroso, é bastante restritivo – os ovos não podiam ser repetidos, e a equipe controlava o serviço. Por outro lado, o café, como é de se esperar na Colômbia, estava impecável.

I did the reservarion with free parking and at the end I had to pay for it. Other than minor problems with the toilet and the tv. We all liked our stay and the breakfast was phenomenal.
