Don’t stay here

Pool was lovely. Room was very old school with air conditioning that couldn’t take the room below 26C. We finally got a fan, which helped us sleep. The outside is in disrepair and inside it is very tired. Staff was dismissive and mocking about the A/C.

WARNING: A terrible stench from the bathroom (without ventilation) permeated the entire room. When I asked for a different room, I was told: it's like that in all rooms when the wind blows.
I killed 55 (!) mosquitoes during the night (in April!), my children's faces were completely bitten, and we couldn't sleep a wink: the mosquitoes must be nesting in the air conditioning; they couldn't all have come in from outside.
I left after a terrible night, even though I had booked two. Despite the kids having medically concerning bites allover, I had to pay the full €150 for the first night and €50 for the canceled night (I was refunded €100). Worst hotel experience ever!

1) If you wish to use the pool, it is mandatory to wear a swimcap or at least for women. They sell them at the poolbar for 3€.

The hotel is located at a good ocean facing location. However the hotel had not turned on the air conditioning yet so it was hot in the night. We opened the balcony door but there were mosquitoes came in the room and we couldn’t sleep because of that. I would suggest the hotel to turn on the AC as the area has lot of mosquitoes so keeping the windows/doors open in the night is not ideal.

Very old and dated. Staff was not attentive and a bit rude. We stayed 3 nights with 2 rooms. No AC on our floor, in room bar fridge did not work. They did not want us to change rooms. It’s like a 30 year old hotel that has some funky doors, water leaks and never been painted or upgraded. Free parking, good breakfast and great location are the good things…

Looks are very deceiving. We booked this hotel for a two week stay in the Agrigento region. Photos on the internet looked appealing for a reasonable price and the location seemed optimal. Upon arrival, the hotel was very very dated; seems to be stuck in 1970. Though this wasn’t my biggest disappointment. As many others have mentioned, the walls are paper thin. You could hear those on both sides of the room and feel like part of their conversation. You can easily hear (very early in the morning) tons of people wheeling their luggage through the hallways, an unwanted morning alarm. Hotel caters to bus tours. This hotel has Best Western written all over it, yet we quickly learned they lost their Best Western association rights due to their substandard services in all respects. Breakfast is abysmal, you are better off walking to some of the great coffee and pastry shops in San Leone. The pool is racket to make money off guests. I have traveled to pools all over the world and many in Italy and this was the first one ever to require a pool cap, for a fee of course, coupled with short pool open/close hours even though there was never a life guard on duty. The only pleasing thing about this hotel is its location in San Leone and the charming cleaning staff. I will never stay at this location again, not even for a one night layover since you risk hearing your neighbors all night anyway. It’s sad as this hotel has potential, yet it is very substandard for “four star” hotel.

Family with a toddler. Paid extra for a superior room with double and a twin - turned out to be a double and a single. I would not have wanted to see a standard room, they must be quite cramped. Wallpaper peeling off the wall, warm Minibar, no toilet paper and a view of the car park. Noisy from the street activity, including an amusement park, which isn't ideal with a baby. Feels very overpriced, thankfully it was for just a one night stopover, perhaps that's why we got a bad room. Service and breakfast are to be expected, which is to say we didn't eat much of the breakfast. Caters for large tour groups looking at the coaches parked out front.

Grateful to arrive at Dioscuri Bay with ideal parking - easy and nearby drive to temples and old Agrigento - breakfast was terrific ( all the normal goodies great coffees super scrambled eggs and bacon) resonable priced and tasty dinner on site. Nearby sea walks and eating options right out the entrance. Friendly staff.

Our stay at this property was not one that we enjoyed. The hotel itself is run down in dire need of a face lift. As for the room... although very spacious, it was dated. The air-condition left much to be desired. The worst were the bathroom towels. They were a dingy white, paper thin and torn. The pool is in need of chlorine to eliminate the green algae at the bottom of the pool. One of the front desk personnel namely Rinaldo had no customer service skills at all. The pool is in need of chlorine to eliminate the green algae on the bottom of the pool.He was very abrupt and just plain nasty. All in all, this stay is one to be easily forgotten.

Nice hotel comfortable beds had ac so comfortable nights sleep , staff there was really helpful and friendly. The bathroom was good nice shower Morden and clean. The pool area was great right next to the sea could update sun loungers if was being picky, the pool was nice size after while it had sand in it so maybe clean that out more regularly but not big deal. Outdoor bar was outdated and very pricey, if they sort these minor issues out it be perfect. It's local to what they call the \"strip\" where you find bars, restaurants, ice cream shops and market stalls at night along with two fair grounds and small beach area. would I go back yes I would.

We stayed in August for five nights, using it as a base and travelling to nearby towns and sightseeing. It was the third hotel of our Sicily trip. The room itself was small compared to the others. Then again, is was 20% cheaper. It's best feature by a long way was the pool area. Never crowded. It was great to come back to at the end of a day's sightseeing and relax by the pool for a couple of hours. Temperatures were mid-30s so it was very welcome at the end of a hot afternoon. Five nights was a little too long for a stay as our primary reason for visiting Sicily was to see the sights. Agrigento did, however, have sicily's finest sight to see (my opinion) - the Valley of the Temples. Worth the drive to the area in itself.

Pool was the highlight

Our group of six spent our final night here. It was of a standard that we expect from Best Western, all the basic requirements but nothing really special. Highlight was the gorgeous pool after a hot day on the tourist trail. Breakfast was nothing special as we fought our way through the tour bus queues. Room was comfortable, hotel is very spacious, at the seaside, but the surroundings were a bit ugly.

Spent 2 nights with another couple. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Hotel itself appeared closed as there wasn't enough staff to cover such a large facility. Only one person at pool bar, cooking meals, making drinks all day! Once past reception the bar lounge area was dark and was uninviting. Staff tried very hard to impress.

We had a lovely night at the Dioscuri Bay Palace Hotel on our final night in Sicily. The staff were friendly, the pool was beautiful and our room was comfortable. Our only problem was that our room was directly above the hotel entrance and with so many coach parties coming and going we were woken up rather earlier than planned! It might be a good idea to ask for a room further from the entrance if you can.

An efficient and well run hotel near the sea. I believe its main customer base at the time of our visit (mid April) is large groups. During our brief stay we reckoned there were at least three distinct groups staying at the hotel. Even with that great number of customers we were well looked after.

Excellent Hotel on the southern Mediterranean Sea. Great complimentary breakfast, right on the San Leone strip, with good restaurants and Seaside Promanade. Beautiful large pool with snack bar and plenty of seating areas. Fifteen minutes from Center of Agrigento. Great place to stay!!!!

Our initial room was incredibly small. The shower cabinet required you to be a contortionist. The walls have no sound insulation at all; we were kept up all night by our next door neighbor partying and even after the partying was over at about 3am we could hear every sound emanating from the next room. After complaining then next morning, we were moved to a suite, which was fine. The breakfast was not very good.

We had a one night stay at this hotel and were extremely satisfied. The front desk staff were knowledgeable and the room was very nice, clean and had a great view of the waterfront. The buffet breakfast the next day was good. The only drawback was, we rented a car for the nighttime lights tour and were dissapointed. The charge was 35 E and it only took about 25 minutes. We expected much more. Overall would definitely recommend this hotel to friends

Hotel was beautiful and most importantly clean. Views were great. Pool was georgous, if you have a child bring swimmies or a tube. Pool is about 5ft at its shallowest. Air conditioning worked great which is a gem in Italy. Not many hotels have great air conditioning.

A Beautiful Seaside Resort In Sicily

The hotel complex is by the sea with a spectacular view of Agrigento. It has a large swimming pool overlooking the Mediterranean and a pool bar. The hotel is located in the town of San Leone with access to the many bars, restaurants and cafes. The rooms are reasonably priced, clean and spacious. Our breakfast each morning was included in the price of the room. It had everything: eggs and bacon, a variety of fruit, breads and pastries, juices and coffee.

Reports of paper thin walls are all true - you can follow normal converstations next door to your room. Poorly trained staff do not know how to act in circumstances which are normal in all hotels eg breakfast items laid out in disarray and not topped up. Someone with a tick list may rate this as a 4 star hotel, it is not. Plastic cups at breakfast for fruit juice, bread rolls running out an hour before the end of service and having to ask at reception several times for the one English language station on the TV to be activated and a bar that shuts when the barman feels like it do not constitute a 4 star hotel, in my opinion.
Things in the dining room changed mightily on our last day, different chairs, more choice of food which was named, proper glasses for juice and more staff in uniforms - I wonder why? A hotel inspector was in observing what was going on.
Having stayed in Best Western hotels before we thought we knew what to expect. The plaque on the front door states that this hotel is independently owned and run, Best Western needs to know what is going on here in their name.
The pool area was fine with plenty of beds and a clean pool. We would not recommend this hotel.

Disappointed Touring Couple

We booked this supposed 4 star hotel on the basis of the swimming pool area being heavily praised and the photos / description of the hotel made it seem a good bet. Our idea was that I would visit the local Archaelogical sites while my wife had the option of staying around the hotel. However, the swimming pool area was a big disappointment with insufficient sun beds to go around, apparently dead or dying palm trees, very limited opening times, an uninspiring view across the bay to an industrial complex, dirty / rubbish ridden beach and a mediocre bar area. The rest of the hotel was tired looking and greatly in need of refurbishment. This included the breakfast area where the chairs looked rusty. The bar area was unattractive with a very low ceiling that made us feel claustrophobic. Our room had a balcony but no chairs on it and faced the rear of the post office.This hotel appeared to prioritise providing accommodation for coach tours. No disrespect intended but the needs of someone spending a night or two in the hotel are probably very different to independent travellers spending a few nights there (in our case four). In the event we had had enough after two and moved to a different hotel for the last two nights in Agrigento. We honestly do not think this is a four star standard hotel..On a positive note the staff were friendly and the room was kept clean.

Good location for visiting the Valley of the Temples. Hotel was clean and tidy with good variety for breakfast. Weather wasn't great but the swimming pool looked really inviting. Beds comfortable and rooms serviced daily.

Not what was expected

I was under the impression that my room was ocean view. In fact it was a third floor view of the ground floor conference room. The breakfast was very good. It was convenient to the Greek temples at Agrigento which was the reason we were there.

Comfortable and friendly. Ate in hotel Sicilian food was so good in the evening. Fantastic range of food at breakfast time. Lovely room with balcony.

A reliable 4 star \"Best Western\" Hotel

The hotel was very comfortable - situated in a prime location in San Leone, near the beach, close to restaurants and only 10 minutes by car to the Valley of the Temples. Our superior room was very clean, well equipped and spacious; fortunately situated on the top floor on the West side of the hotel, where the panoramic view from the balcony was stunning - across the pool, over the bay and up to Agrigento and the Temples. Although the walls were quite thin, it was quiet, but certainly rooms on all other sides of the building would have been much noisier. The pool area was superb. The staff on the front desk and in the restaurant were very helpful. However the public areas were rather impersonal, catering for large numbers of coach parties that use the hotel at this time of year, and the breakfast was a rather mediocre cold buffet. Also, the staff in the breakfast area seemed rather miserable.
Given its ideal location and the need for quality hotels in the area we felt that there was great potential for making this hotel even better!

lovely pool and attentive staff.Very good breakfast for the price.It may not be up to UK four star standards but we enjoyed our stay here and thought it was great value for the price we paid.Would definitely stay again.

Pool ok - Hotel disapointing.

Pool is the only saving grace. Front desk clerk needs to smile. If booking on this site, please note that the Room will be poor, they worst one overlooking the post office. Very very loud hallways.

Good hotel but bad odor

This hotel is pretty nice. The rooms are large and comfortable. They have an outlet which is live all the time, so you can charge your electronic devices even when you remove your key card from the wall (a very nice feature). However, the rooms smelled like a sewer at times and that really caused me to lower my rating of this place. Breakfast was very good, staff was moderately friendly. The location was great for the Valley of the Temples. The odor would probably prevent me from booking here again.

Make sure your room has a window to the outside!

Initially I was very disappointed as I was allocated a room with a sliding door/window that opened only on to an internal corridor. There was no external light coming into the room. After complaining I was eventually allocated a better room, but as the hotel was fully booked, I assume someone else had to suffer!

Nice hotel but hard bed. Good Temples visit stop. Pool out of service,and should have been available. Breakfast good ,parking good staff good. Overall worth the money,but more because of attractions than other reasons.

Good one-nighter

We chose Dioscuri Bay Palace because we were only staying one night and it was so reasonably priced, so we were not expecting anything grand. We were surprised to find it was better than expected, situated out of city of Agrigento at San Leone Beach, fairly remote unless you have a car. Good value for money. Free wifi but no coffee making in room. Bathroom tiles had some mould (a turn-off), walls paper thin but overall not bad for price.
