The breakfast offering was exceptional - an extensive spread covering everything you could imagine, from Malaysian and Indian dishes to European, Japanese, and continental options. The staff were consistently attentive and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Our suite was spacious and very comfortable, and the views, along with the beautifully maintained grounds, were simply stunning.
One thing to note is that the resort is very expansive, so getting around typically involves using buggies, which you need to request via reception.

Wonderful stay. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would stay here again.

Peaceful relaxing resort with beautiful views. Beach is small and the sea is rocky but that’s not a negative comment, just factual. Pool area is lovely - didn’t feel crowded and always loungers and umbrellas available.

The hotel has a shuttle bus into Chaweng a few times a day, which was great as made going in very straightforward and convenient. The hotel is a little further out of the hustle and bustle which was nice to retreat back to.

Wonderful- recommended hotel. Really enjoyed the stay.

The room was big and clean and the staff were friendly, kind and overall attentive. The hotel is huge where some areas are perched up on a hill so getting around on foot will be hard thus requesting for buggie/golf cart will be required to get to places such as the beach, reception, spa, restaurants etc. The breakfast buffet was great, i loved the juice bar! We did appreciate their thoughtfulness on setting up our room and the little suprises we would have knowing we are their to celebrate our engagement. Some advantages are that the hotel provides shuttle services from and to to the central area and the private beach. The only disadvantage was the overpriced food at the restaurants even considering the quality and location, which is a premium.

Lucky the staff member who showed us around was awesome. Will surely come again. Rooms are beautiful. Well equipped healing with mosquito repellent. We went for a short trip to koh samui and they kept our luggage for three days so that we could travel light. Thank you for your hospitality.

Awful. Worst Ritz-Carlton experience ever

Check-In: Double-charged.
Conditions crap, untidy and worn appearance, buggy service slow and took ages to get one for dinner - slow response and take ages to even read message, then a long time to come. Even worse when time to check out and catch our flight.

Smoking workers in buggy route when going to dinner, we were driven through it despite buggy driver seeing them and greeting them further up road.

Outstanding Koh Samui Hotel & Spa

The Hotel and food were great. Our ocean front one bedroom villa was outstanding with its own plunge pool. Worth the extra expense. Also the Thai Massage at the spa was outstanding. We highly recommend it. The beach fire walker show was very well done. Great place to catch some rest and downtime after travelling several destinations in Thailand.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff very helpful, service was excellent. The resort is large and transportation is by trolly . They were very quick and efficient. We did not wait more than 5 mins for a trolly. The breakfast was very good. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
One improvement could be at the Beach/ Ocean area. As the ocean here experiences Riptides, the warning flag is by the pool area and not the beach. The flag should be closer to the actual beach /entry to the ocean for safety reasons. One teenager in our group entered the water, the kids were not aware the flag at the pool was for the beach. Thankfully he got out quickly and was safe. If you have kids, please make them aware of this.

We stayed four nights in a beautiful villa overlooking the sea. Service was good enough (staff really made an effort, especially Ping and Beauty), and the premises of the hotel were OK. However, none of this justified the price of about 1000 euro daily we were charged. The breakfast room was a big, sad, and noisy hall with lots of poorly-dressed guests swarming around with plenty of children. We needed to arrive early if we wanted to be seated at a decent table. Their private beach was underwhelming. In short, if you’re looking for an exclusive and relaxing experience, this resort is not from you.

The beautiful people working at the resort were so kind, appreciative, helpful above and beyond anything you could ask for.

The housekeeping was spectacular and the turn down service always left a wonderful gift of Samui sweets and delicacies.

I can’t speak highly enough of all at the resort staff. They made a great destination an even greater experience.

Absolutely amazing and relaxing stay. The villas are a bit old but lovely and comfortable, but they are refurbing this year also.

Can’t say enough about how friendly the staff are and while yes you could point out a few small improvements there is absolutely no need as the positive out way any small imperfections.

Definitely recommend the ranch restaurant worth every penny and the Thai restaurant was amazing food and staff.

We will definitely be back.

We had an amazing stay for our wedding anniversary. The property is well maintained and cared for. They drive you around in golf carts because the property is so big. We loved getting picked up each time. It was like being in a cute little town. The staff were very friendly and very happy to work there. They were kind and very helpful. We got a special welcoming treat for our anniversary and it was very thoughtful. Each night we were given tasty local treats. They pay attention to every detail. It was so romantic and unforgettable. The sunsets there are a dream. The spa was wonderful and high tea was delicious. The Ritz does not disappoint. I can’t wait to go back. Definitely one of our favorite spots in the world.

Overall my stay was pleasant. The villa was beautiful. The food at the buffet was good. Staff was generally nice and pleasant.

The cons: they need to update the rooms. What I mean is that they need to upgrade the to Smart TV, maybe add USB plugs in the room.

The staff seems stressed. They need to smile more when engaging with the guest. the customer service needs some work. At once instant, I called to get a beach towel 3x, on the 4th attempt I ended up going to the lobby and explained what I needed. I had to wait over 20-30 minutes to get a beach towel.

the lady who manages luggage and traffic at the entrance seemed a bit frazzled and didn't have a good grip on the situation and was not very efficient with managing the cars and people. It was confusing.

I forgot my USB plug at home and needed to charge my AirPods. I asked if I could borrow a USB plug. Their response was we do not have any. For a 5 star hotel, you would expect that they will carry one.

I have stayed at other luxury hotels where they are able to anticipate the needs of the guest. I hoped they would have anticipated the needs of guest and be more organized in their response.

That being said, the facility is pretty. I loved the villa and the stay was generally pleasant. I probably would not stay at this facility again.

Overall, we like the hotel. Is a big hotel where the rooms are distributed across few buildings or blocks and it is not noisy. However, we were allocated to a ground floor unit with no view which is not to my liking. The landscape of the property can be improved. I was shocked to see a snake and a frog outside of my unit. I didn't highlight to the staff as my unit is close to the nature and on the ground floor. So, for people whom are not nature lover, you might not like the ground unit. Lastly, for stayers whom has tour plans, maybe this hotel might not be a suitable ones as it takes a bit of time and the inconvenience of getting out of the hotel. They will get a buggy to pick you up from the room to the reception, then you can order a hotel transport or taxi to get out of the hotel. This is my first time to Koh Samui, i didn't know the taxi fare is not by metered. Grab is limited, and they have a lot of restricted pick up area which is quite annoying too. Other than the inconveniences, the overall stay in Ritz was still pleasant.

This is a beautiful resort very spread out and very isolated. In the very north of the island. I'm handicapped with difficulty walking. to get anywhere You have to call and get a buggy ride. This was quite annoying as every time we wanted to go anywhere we had to wait in the hot sun usually with other people Vying for the first buggy that would show up. We did find it isolated, but perfect for the vacation that my family needed to reconnect. It was also very inconvenient to get to town and other parts of the island where there was more action, and we always found the shuttles to be full, which created anxiety never knowing if we'd have to book a private ride to go anywhere. The staff were quite good. Karl is the general manager who did a great job taking care of us personally, I was disappointed with the condition of the pool and especially the lounge chairs in the cushions , the beach area was not maintained at all and sorry to report that the condition of the cushions and the lounge chairs were disgustingly dirty. I know the warning the beaches made out of seashells and very difficult almost impossibly painful to walk without shoes. There is no place to swim in the ocean at this resort for anyone wanting to have more excitement variety entertainment I would find a place closer to town.

Buggies took 30 mins for pick up every time we called for it.
Pasta had carrots.
The beach is a pebble beach whereas if you go to areas like ark bar, the beach is a perfect sand beach.
We requested buggy driver to stop at one of our rooms to check if we had left our one of our child's stuff, he didn't budge and told us ' when in Thailand you only follow'.
Overall I would not go back to this property again.

Upon arrival, the bedding configuration that was booked was not available. Also on check in, we were informed that all restaurants had to be booked in advance. Once we had arrived at the room, we weren't able to reach reception with our in-room phone because the line was engaged and this was with multiple attempts. Thankfully the reception staff also gave us a WhatsApp number. However, they informed us that there was no availability for a restaurant that evening and only room-service was an option. We were quite disappointed with this level of service - if this was the case, why weren't we informed before arrival? I also shared my issues on my check-in feedback request and no action was taken to rectify it during our stay. Overall, not the service level I would expect from a Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

The property is very nice but requires staff to move you around in cart due to size and hills. They have a shuttle to shopping several times a day but is generally very secluded. All the staff are fantastic and food good.

My family of 3 stayed 6 nights over Easter 2023 at a terrace suite. Our suite, the grounds, spa village, facilities and pool were beautiful and well-maintained with friendly service.

We ate every meal and every snack at the Ritz and got food poisoning on two occasions.

On night 5, our 10yr old got food poisoning after eating a burger from the kids menu room service. She threw up for over an hour.

On night 6, I got food poisoning after eating fried rice and noodles from Luk Yu. I barely slept having had to go to the bathroom all night.

At any establishment at any price, we need to be able to trust the food quality, especially from the kids menu. At the Ritz, we certainly expect better. Messages to the hotel and Marriot guest services have gone unanswered.

Beautiful hotel if you want to have a look. But hard to stay if even the cooked food cannot be trusted.

There is a lot of walking around the property since it is located on the side of a hill. They are very quick to send a golf cart to pick you up as this is the preferred method of getting around the hotel grounds. Food was great.

The property is an unique experience over the hills in a private beach. We got upgraded to the ultimate villa which is a top-notch phenomenal accommodation with an infinity pool. The staff service is top-notch in terms of attentiveness. The resort managers will come and say hi to you and talk to you about your experience and how to plan your day. The beach is OK for swimming. It is a ultimate resort for couple ratter than family with a very quaint ,relaxing experience ; away from the hustle where the nightlife is. It is situated in a very close proximity to the pier for snorkeling trip as well as to the airport. Overall I would highly recommend this resort again.

Overall everything in the hotel is completely inconsistent and mismanaged. I would recommend staying elsewhere.
- We didn't like the view from our room. They mentioned they would check everyday if they could change our room. They never did.
- No mosquito repellent in the rooms - had to ask for it. Expect bites on the 1st night!
- Our mini bar was never re-stocked (we were there for 5 nights). We specifically asked for it to be re-stocked one day and then was never re-stocked post that. Also probably the poorest selection of any mini bar I've ever seen.
- We went to the thai restaurant twice. The 2nd time we had terrible service. We had to get our own cutlery, napkins and plates from a nearby draw. No-one checked on us the whole meal. We had to pour our own wine. The wine list is also the worst I've seen with 10 wines on the whole list. Some of them weren't even available.
- Room service left empty trays of food outside our room for over 24 hours at a time. The housekeeping left it outside our room attracting bugs. This happened twice.
- Booked thai for two massage. The room where you get scrubbed was clearly dirty and smelled.
- On our last night they rang my room at 11pm and woke me up!
- I told the manager about all of the above and how unpleasant our stay was. He sent me 10k Marriot Bonvoy points as an apology. That is the equivalent of 1/5th of a night stay in the most basic room at the hotel during off peak - we stayed 5 nights in a pool villa. What an absolute joke.

Travelled with family and stayed in a exclusive pool villa which was very nice. Staff was kind and helpful and especially the staff in-charge of breakfast and pool area were great (Omar/Carl). The resort manager Tanzie was also very humble and helpful in suggesting activities for us as a family.

We found our interaction with the reception perhaps the worst. Firstly, the airport transfer never showed up (and I was travelling with a 2 year old), and then the hotel offered to pay for the return transfer - which they never did or offer on the day of checkout. The resort lobby/reception was felt like a boiler room and is very small in comparison to the size of the resort!

I have stayed at many Ritz-Carlton hotels around the world and I do believe they are amazing. Koh Samui resort is also great although inconvenient for families as you need a buggy to get around to almost do anything unless you have a villa in the middle (near breakfast/pool and etc). Also, the long staircase/walk to access our villa was a bit of pain.

Resort is quite good. How ever, breakfast is very very basic (though its covid time), and also bathroom utilities are so so... Not really luxury.

But overall resort is quite okay.

I had high expectations on this brand “Ritz-Carlton”, that was why I booked this resort, not W, Conrad, or Banyan tree. However, this Property was disappointing. I booked a exclusive villa for 5 night. Firstly, the entrance to the welcome area is pretty small, there is not enough place for people to sit when there are people checking in and people checking out and waiting for the transportation at the same time. Secondly, the villas has little privacy, the distance between villas is pretty close together and does not have enough covers for villa; so we can easily see what others doing in their pool or balcony. Thirdly, they did not do a good job on their sewage system, so the restroom is always smell after you use the toilet; and there isn’t any windows or doors or air system in the restroom or bathtub area to fresh the air. Fourthly, they also did not do a good job on bug problem, I am not taking about mosquitoes, I’m taking about the restroom bugs and the food bugs; one morning I went to the breakfast buffet, I was gonna take some melons but I can’t believe there were many bugs flying around and even stopping on that plate of melons which made me felt disgusted. Lastly, I was expect to have a ocean view in my villa, instead of that I have a big tree blocked my view, but the villa next to me have a clean ocean view, so I don’t know it’s because of the price difference or another reason.

Loved our stay at the Ritz (shout out to POR)

Love the Ritz in Koh Samui. Fabulous property (big, hilly, lots of walking - which is a plus for us). Staff are AMAZING. Truly the best. With a huge shout out to POR who was an angel for our group on the beach each and every day. He cared for us like family. Made happy hour even happier. Rooms are spectacular. Breakfast could be the best anywhere. Facilities are amazing. Location is great.
Beach was a little rough while we were there so swimming was a challenge (and fun). Pool is great.

Good Staff poor up-keep and design

First of all let me say the staff were very good and the food was also excellent.
But the resort looked messy.
Firstly, there was too much furniture everywhere. If a restaurant is only open once a week like the Thai market on Saturdays, the dining furniture etc should not be left out for the duration of the week like an eyesore.
Secondly, the beach area. The towels were small and discolored, as were the sun-lounger mattress'. After only being open a year this is not acceptable. If you go to any of the One and Only hotels, Four Seasons, or other hotels you maybe trying to compete with, they will lay out your towel on your lounger and also use a rolled towel as a pillow. They will consistently come round with fresh water, fruit, sun-glass cleaning, even short complimentary massages! All of this was lacking.
Furthermore, I was also horrified to see that you had installed a gigantic TV screen in the pool, what a carbuncle! At night the said screen played the promotional video of the resort on a loop unnecessarily, completely blinding you from the idyllic view. Also not a very good idea to show the promotional video where the resort looks perfect whilst you look around at the reality...
Finally the the white hexagonal tent on the beach looks terrible, why would you place it right in the middle of the beach area ruining the effect of the lovely Thai wooded structure behind. The idea of a private space to enjoy the beach maybe a good one but the execution is a disaster.

Great stay. Hotel was decent enough.
Spa was fully booked, transport to town was fully booked however for the transport the guest services were incredibly accommodating arranging transport for us.
Breakfast spread is brilliant, plenty of superb options
Staff try really hard to make the stay pleasant
Not too much around, you have to get a car out everywhere you go. But the hotel makes it hard to leave!
