An excellent hotel. Lots of amenities, wonderful service staff and a great location in Hsinchu. Next to the East Gate, restaurants, brewery and markets. Rooms were clean and any issues were immediately taken care of by management. Would stay here again.

Great hotel for traveling professionals.

Excellent hotel great value. Love the breakfast. Close to all the restaurants and attractions in downtown Hsinchu. Few blocks away from Big City with its food court. Also just few blocks away from the markets, etc. You can ask the hotel staff to schedule taxis for you so you're not waiting for ubers in the morning, as it could get busy and a long wait. I see a lot of business professionals staying at this hotel so it's geared towards business travel which is great. There's an italian restaurant attached to it as well that's pretty decent.

It's a bit noisy as it is right across a primary school. Staff were nice but does not seem really friendly.
The room was quite clean and the corridor from the elevator to the room was also clean and well lit.
There is a good variety of small restaurants or hawker food stalls around the hotel.

Excellent place to stay except 2 issues. I gave okay for cleanliness because I was bitten by bed bugs. The front desk had my bed thoroughly cleaned and gave me anti itch ointment. I gave okay for service because of the accessibility of coffee in the morning because of breakfast buffet. The hostess was rude and didn’t allow me to get coffee during buffet hours. Please consider having separate coffee station for guests who do not want buffet. Even with these 2 issues, I would stay at this hotel in Hsinchu visiting relative for location and xcellent facility and service.

Comfortable stay. Nice and helpful staff. Many restaurants and bars nearby. Connects to Cafe Grazie where you can receive a 10 percent discount by showing your room card or receipt. Zhongmen Craft Beer next door is great too and you can also receive a discount by showing proof you are staying at the Sol. The hotel also has a nice lounge and patio open 24 hours. Hope to stay again.

Very clean and my room looked very nice. Bathroom was very clean and nice too. Location near a park you can walk along. I'm likely to book this hotel again next time I am in Hsinchu. Very relaxing hotel.

Excellent hotel, booked 4 nights, got free upgrade, room is spacious, clean. Great service, we arrived at 1pm, check in at 3pm, we left luggage. When 3pm we back, luggage already in room. Hotel is in great location, next to river, lots of restaurants and shopping. Walking distance to Hsinchu station. We did not book breakfast so do not know. Anyway, will come back again if visit Hsinchu.

Excellent choice for Hsinchu

This hotel has been a favorite of mine for years. The breakfast is excellent for international business travelers, and the room price is very competitive. The local area is fun, with shopping and restaurants, and a five minute walk to the train station. It is a full 20 minute taxi ride from the HSR train station, but you can take the local train if you wish to save money. The room itself is well maintained, and has a nice work desk, plenty of power receptacles, and plenty of room for clothes. The shower is great too. It has a bidet, which is always a good thing. I never tried the bath tub but it looks great. The bed is relatively hard, be sure to ask for a pad if you are used to North American style softness.

Old establishment with rude hotel staffs

Older hotel that needs some refurbishment to the rooms and building. Biggest issue was that some of the hotel staffs were rude which is the first time I ever run into while traveling in Taiwan.

I came here because I always have a few drinks with my friends in one of the bar near by (Pumpkin, if you speak Mandarin they're really nice, not much of a foreigner's bar if you only speak English), I always walk by this hotel and thought to myself, \"how convenient if I stay here and can walk back to my room from the bar in less than 5 minutes\". Well, so I finally did this time, and boy I regretted it. It's old and filled with some rude hotel staff (not all, but about half of 6 of them that I ran into, which is quite a lot if you ask me).

Will never return again. Don't bet your luck on this either. You're simply better off around the same price for either Landis or Royal.

Nice hotel in downtown

We have stayed here yearly during our annual trips to Taiwan. Staff is very nice, location is great. Included breakfast also very good.
The hotel is showing its age with worn carpets and aging bathroom facilities. We have also always found the AC to be lacking... Hard to get the room temperature down below 23c no matter how hot it may be. Sadly, without a much needed update/remodel we may stay at a different hotel next time.

We Love Taiwan

Great Hotel with a Great Location

Actually, I live near Taipei in Taoyuan, but my wife and I love to come here for the weekend. Stayed here many times and never have been disappointed. Rooms are a little old, but well kept and the rooms are large and the work desk is fantastic. The room has a safe in a drawer by the desk. Breakfast buffet is pretty good and not crowded, if you go before 8 am. There are coin operated washing and drying machines on the second floor. The restaurant Gracia is a good place if you don't want to go out. You can access it directly from the lobby - no need to go outside. There are many restaurants close by and Big City Mall is about a 10 minute walk, about two or three blocks from the close-by 7-11. Taxi to HSR station is less than $300 NTD. However this can be a wrong choice if there is heavy commuter traffic. Fortunately, there is a very inexpensive train from Hsinchu TRA Station that leaves every 25 minutes to the Hsinchu HSR station (about a 20 minute ride for less than $20 NTD). From the Sol Hotel, a taxi will drive you over to the Hsinchu TRA station for about $100 NTD. Well, that's all. Hope you like this surprisingly satisfying hotel while staying in Hsinchu. Enjoy!

Great location and friendly service

The hotel's staff is passionately engaging. The room is bigger than typical. Being in downtown Hsinchu provides the opportunity to try varieties of restaurant. I travel to the industrial park for work and find this is the hotel to stay.

I like it that it is only 10mins walk away from the train station. The hotel room is spacious, and it has a nice spread of breakfast varieties. However it is directly facing a school, and thus might irritated some who are easily waken up by school bells and children shouting noise.

Warm staff, but cold room

The staff are competent and friendly. Before we arrived, they emailed a reminder. Booking the hotel-airport shuttle is easy. Long after we checked out, while we waited for the shuttle, we may help themselves with snacks and drinks for free.

The only discomfort I have is the centralized air-con with no local temperature control. It was very cold (19-20C) and we had to ask for a heater. Turning off the air-con would make the room stuffy.

When i need 2 pillows, the receiption helpfull to ask the housekeeping bring 2 pillows to my room. Because this room which have 2 doublebed only provide 2 pillows, altought a couple stay in the room.

Beware of rooms with no windows.

Warning when booking this hotel at Hotels.com. We were assigned a room with no windows, stayed the first night and feeling claustrophobic. Next morning I called the reception for a room change but the front they said that this is the room that was paid for and there is an additional 450 NT$ for a room with windows. I said that nowhere mentioned \"no window\" when booking and they said that probably I overlooked it. The fact is that at Hotels.com the room booked is a standard room. Hotels.com never mentioned that the room is windowless. We felt very uncomfortable being in this kind of room for 4 days, specially at daytime.

Great breakfast - Get rid of the mosquitoes

Rooms were clean an comfortable. The staff could accommodate guests speaking Mandarin, English or Japanese. It was pretty easy getting a taxi from the hotel to get around and the hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the train station. Buffet style breakfast was good with a variety of western and asian style foods, juices, and coffees. Due to the time of year, mosquitoes were a problem. Even around the breakfast area they were buzzing around, biting the guests. Some of the friends I was with had to deal with mosquitoes in their rooms which brings down the comfort level a bit. Overall, I'd still recommend as the mosquito issue is hopefully a seasonal issue that can be addressed in the future.

Comfortable room & delicious breakfast.

During my stay, I was so careless that I left my purse in the safe and my blouse in the closet. The staff was so helpful and friendly to help me retrieved them.

Sol hotel is always my go-to hotel whenever I go to Hsin Chu, not only that the room are comfortable, the staff are friendly, the breakfast is so fresh and great. Its important for me to start a new day.

Service was prompt and customer service personnels were polite and attentive. Not having any windows was no a problem for us since we're out most of the time anyways. nice hotel near cafes, bakeries and a nice park

The views outside hotel was nice at night and it was near small cafes, bakery and there was a bubble tea shop which was always bursting with long queues. The 1st night stay was in a room with double bed. Felt abit small so paid extra to upgrade to bigger room with twin beds. The 2nd night stay was good since the room was large since it was a corner unit. It got a laundry section. Hotel is popular among business users. Breakfast provided and was ok.

Perfect hotel for a relaxing getaway in Hsinchu

I was a bit hesitant about booking this Hotel since it appeared to be more pricey compared to other nearby hotels. My views changed completely as I spent my two nights in Hsinchu at the Hotel.

The Hotel was strategically located near to the railway station and my friend and I have no problem finding it when we arrived in late afternoon. Checkin was fast, the room was clean and spacious, and the water temperature in the bathroom was perfect for a soothing shower in the rather cold weather. This is on top of the sumptuous breakfast spread and the polite yet friendly staffs.

Will definitely go back if I am travelling to Hsinchu again.

Nice Centrally Located Hotel

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel during June. Most of the desk staff spoke very good English and were very helpful during our stay. We arrived early on our train and they allowed us to store our luggage while we went out to visit the nearby area. We we returned to finish checkin, luggage was already up in our room for us. Breakfast is excellent for our taste, decent mixture of western and Chinese food which were very filling. The washer worked well, but drying clothes took a long time with the humidity. Spacious bathrooms, generally comfortable and clean rooms. One trick for us, lights only work if you leave the room card in the card reader by the door. That took us a little while to figure out.

We stayed two different times for several days each over the course of two weeks while visiting our daughter who is working in Hsinchu for the year. We walked from the train station, but it was tricky navigating the streets until we found the canal park.

The first room they gave me smelled like cigarette smoke. So I went straight back downstairs and told them and they found me another room (which turned out to be an upgrade). The second room didn't have the cig smell and had considerably more space. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was within easy walking distance of the train station (as well as a $100 NTD cab ride from it). The breakfast was okay.
