This was one of the most frustrating hotel stays I’ve had, and I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Service was consistently poor from start to finish. There were lines for everything, and the front desk always seemed backed up and disorganized. Even something simple like coordinating our one complimentary meal at the restaurant turned into a 30-minute wait while staff tried to sort it out.

Transportation was another headache — both of our shuttles to and from the resort were mishandled, adding unnecessary stress to the trip.

The room itself was disappointing. It wasn’t clean, there were paint drippings all over the screens, and the shower floor actually sloped toward the bathroom door instead of the drain, so we had to rush showers to avoid flooding the bathroom. On top of that, construction noise with jackhammers made it hard to relax, and our deck opened directly toward a pool full of screaming kids, which meant constant noise.

Overall, the property felt poorly managed and disorganized, and the experience fell far below expectations. I would not return. I had more but you get the point.

Another Philippines hotel good from far but far from good. Advertises with all these activities but yet they are not offered or run down, have a look at the “beach volleyball” for example. The grounds nearing the water look like an abandoned 90’s resort. There used to be a floating dock to a sandbar but they’ve allowed it to become damaged and just pushed up against the shore rather than neatly towed and docked out of site. The entire resort looks outdated and not at all maintained. Every plush cushion I looked at to sit on was stained in some way to some degree so I didn’t sit on anything but our bed. Would not recommend staying at this resort. Resort needs to do better at maintaining instead of adding a ridiculous amount of details/decor to an aging hotel.

The room was amazing they set it up all special for our honeymoon!!! the resort is breathtaking we ate at the Japanese restaurant and Italian restaurant and it was sooo delicious. Service was a little slow but worth the wait! The hot water wasn’t working but they quickly fixed it ! Staff was on top of everything and so so kind. We would definitely come back to visit !

A 3Star Resort for the price of 5star!

This resort is stuck in 90s. A bit run down and management seemed have no interest in renovating it. We stayed at the water villa for 4 nights paying high price during low season. We were family of 3 with a child. We had booked thru hotels.com and clearly mentioned we were 3 and need an additional bed for our child. However during the checkin the hotel charged us additional 50USD/night for the bed which we felt was unnecessary rip off.
We felt the checkin staff were a bit stuck up. Not friendly. The operations was also very old styled. Paper invoice for everything! They even gave us coupons for beach tower that we were supposed to exchange to get the towel and get it back when we return the towel. Seriously??
Water villa was spacious. However please note that it is enjoyable only if you are comfortable with mangrove and seaweed smell. Watervilla is surrounded by water only during high tides. i.e., between 7am-3pm.
Hotel boasts about its private sandbar. Please note that this is not private. It is a public sandbar and some boat companies operate to bring non-residents to this sandbar.
The recreational area is a bit run down, but u can play some games. The pool bar is always deserted.
On a good note, the Japanese restaurant is awesome. Good food, great views and very good service. However, please note that it is closed on Mondays. The Italian restaurant is also good, but the chef seemed to like garlic a lot. You need to give specific instructions to the chef.

Overall the hotel is nice but not a 4 star accommodation. Needs lots of maintenance. Work was ongoing. Hopefully when finished the resort will be modern and nicer. Paid $5 per night for an extra blanket in our room for our son. Very excessive. Limited dinning options and selection for international travelers. Pool area was nice, sandbar area not so much. Courteous staff overall. Hot water was inoperative for 2 nights of our 4 night stay. If we travel to Palawan again we will try another area. Puerto Princessa is not a travel destination for beach or relaxation.

Overall the hotel is great. Our suite was very nice and big. Pool is huge! Was able to swim laps with no problems.

Spa was very nice, massages were got were so good we tried to do a round 3 but didn't have enough time.

The Japanese restaurant on the roof top was very good! However make sure you are not starving when you head there, slow service when busy, took about 30 minutes to get sashimi. Would eat there more if we had more than the 3 days we were there.

The Itilian restaurant by the pool is SO SO SO slow!!!! We had 2 hours before a massage and after an hour and a half we still haven't gotten our food. There was 1 other table other than our 4 people table and we could not get fed. After 3 asks of when our food is coming and we have a 2pm massage I finally told them to cancel all food that wasn't served and we'll just pay for what we had. The server even forgot I asked for ice and I had to go to the bar to get it myself after 5 minutes of waiting as my drink got warm.

If you are hungry avoid eating at either the Japanese or Italian restaurants on site, have a snack with you or plan your food times.

Overall, would definitely stay there again, the swim up rooms are much quieter than any other swim up rooms I've seen, my fear of screaming children is why we didn't get the swim up room and opted for the suite which is quite a bit more spacious than the swim up rooms. Clean rooms and welcoming staff were all very nice.

I recently stayed at Garden Island Resort in Palawan for a short two-night visit. While I truly appreciated the kindness and helpfulness of the staff — they were consistently warm and accommodating — unfortunately, the overall condition of the resort left a lot to be desired.

The grounds were noticeably unkempt, with many areas appearing neglected and dilapidated. While there were some spots that seemed to receive attention, large portions of the resort were in disrepair. The most glaring example was the area near the sandbar and pier. Though highlighted on the resort’s map, in reality, it was far from a picturesque spot — rotten wood, crumbling structures, and debris scattered around made it feel more abandoned than inviting.

The food was mediocre at best, with limited variety and only a few restaurant options available. This added to the overall feeling that the resort lacked the level of care and quality one would expect from a vacation destination.

While I’m grateful for the excellent service provided by the staff, the condition of the resort itself unfortunately overshadowed their efforts. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend Garden Island Resort to others looking for a well-maintained and enjoyable getaway.

Our honeymoon experience: DISASTEROUS

1) Air port pick up that I pre-arranged did not pick us up when we late into the evening. We stood at the airport shuttle area for over 40 mins waiting. Tried to contact the resort while we waited, no answer. Luckily I found
a local travel agent who helped us contact a shuttle driver to take us to Princesa Gardens. 2) Checking in = disaster. It took over 1.5hrs for my family to get to the front of the line?!? The main lobby is open to outdoors so it was unpleasant in 36+ degrees which then turned into a rain down-pour 3) Was told our room was \"upgraded\" for our Honeymoon. Happy with our beautiful view so we were willing to forget crummy beginning of the trip 4) It got VERY LOUD early next morning. Our building was being renovated but this was never advertised while we researched properties nor upon check-in. It was so uncomfortable after 2 days of banging/drilling. Glad I packed extra Advil for our headaches. Though we were booked for 10 days at this place, we decided to switch hotels and leave for El Nido instead 5) The staff at the front desk aren't very friendly/welcoming. The rest of the staff were kind though. There was a divide amongst the workers vs management. So much so that by the end of our stay, there was a huge turn-over in staff. Disappointing as we splurged for our Honeymoon on this hotel. Won't be returning to this resort and will share with our tourism groups of our horrible experience.

Property is extremely outdated. The pool had missing tiles and the entrance of the pool was slippery probably due to Algae growing on the surface (extremely dangerous & potential hazard for a fall).
The room bed bases are broken, the corner of the bed cut out legs on several occasions. The windows in the bathroom were old and cracked (the window had silver reflective stickers placed over them to conceal the old mirrors. The sink in the bathroom had all black stains when we arrived and was conveniently covered with a bath towel to hide the stains by staff.
The toilet in the bathroom clogged up every time we used it.
Last but not least the Food!! Where do I begin…
Ordering food was a nightmare, every time we sat down there were no staff to provide us with a menu or any service. I had to go up to the bar
Several times. Secondly, the staff need much more training in customer service & English.
Thirdly, the food took over an hour to come out and I had to constantly walk over to them to check how long the food would take (every single time).
Buffet breakfast was good. This resort could be so much better if management invested resources to fix the whole resort (including staff training/ customer service).

We got the double pool room and so glad we did! We loved having a private pool entrance and being on the ground floor right next to the restaurant. The resort itself is about 10 minutes drive from the main part of town but it was easy to grab a tuk tuk from the front gate any time we wanted to go in to town. Having the resort out of the town gave way for a super peaceful and quiet getaway and the whole place is so beautiful. Staff is polite and helpful and we will definitely be back!

There was construction during our stay but it didn't really bother us since we were out and about during the loud part of the construction. The area is secluded which means you will need a vehicle to get town and back. Front desk is very helpful with getting us a taxi to take us to the shopping center.

A few factors really hampered this stay. The week we were there, the weather was absolutely terrible, raining almost all day everyday. Looking at the map, you would think this property was close to the city, it's not. It wasn't close to anything.

They are building a new tower, which you can hear all of the construction for. I kind of want to go back to see how it turns out, but have no desire to ever set foot there again.

The grounds must have been great in it's prime, however, it seems to along time since those days. For the most part it's nice, but like a lot of places in the Philippines, they aren't properly or adequately maintained. The pool, being the biggest thing that sticks out, the floor of it needing to be repainted. The greenery was very nice, giving off rain-forest vibes.

The room was reasonably nice, but not for this price point. I expected a lot more for how much we paid.

The bathroom was massive, I think it was bigger than the rest of the room. The Jacuzzi was probably the biggest disappointment. The water flow to fill it up was beyond slow, it took nearly 2 hours to fill it up. The heating element, even when set to high, didn't work. The jets, were bad, if you didn't have two people in it, sitting/laying exactly in the right position, they flooded the bathroom, they were literally pointed at such an arc, that they would shoot out of the tub. The shower was nice, but it took a long time to get hot water, wasting a lot of water.

Special thanks to all the staff in this hotel. We went from Japan to Puerto Princesa on our holiday and my upcoming bday. A lot of hotels and accommodations have disappointed us. This hotel got it all. Huge sized pool, jacuzzi, gym, arcade area and so on. Staff and amenities are great the we went back 3 times in the span of 2 weeks and just cancelled our other hotels.
I can't remember everyone but thanks to Paula,Neil, Joram and Harold for giving us a good time before heading back to Australia.

We loved the pools very much! The property is beautiful, the landscaping is gorgeous. The staff excellent helpful service. The resort is excellent. Overall, only comment is children. Children or sometimes very loud and we were hoping this was more of a quiet garden and spa atmosphere. Sometimes children were bike riding, allowed to bike ride all over the lobby, shouting and screaming. Families ok, but it would have been nice if the children were not so loud and allowed to bike ride outside the lobby and not shout and make so much noise.

Worst hotel we have stayed in on our 3 week trip. Had big construction and made lots of noise during our two day stay.
Not too mention a 45 min check in.
I would not eat the breakfast buffet.
It was not very good and I was it taking any chances.
We ended up leaving after one nights stay bc of all the problems with the hotel and the front desk staff. Never again.

This was our first time at Princessa Garden. This was a family vacation pool access for 5 days. The resort made it very easy to book tours on site. They also booked off site dinner with transportation. Some wonderful amenities included room water, large pool, kids pool with water play area, game room, darts, karaoke room, miniature golf and kids play area in doors. The staff was extremely helpful, in my opinion the best in all my travels. The resort offered happy hour from 12 to 6 pm. Only negatives: our room was good for 4, with only 2 adult and a 8 yr old we were charged 250 pesos a night to have a sheet and blanket for the sofa bed, breakfast buffet today ran out of food by 8 am and would only have minimal amount in the serving tray. Breakfast was good for 2 only with 600 peso charge for child. Overall we were still very happy and will stay here again.

The overall experience was great.
I did have an issue during check out but I am not going to lower my 5 star rating because of it. I know they are just doing their jobs.
Upon checking, they wanted housekeeping to check the room and clear it before we left. It’s a customary thing just to make sure we did not leave anything, etc. I have stayed at two previous hotels in Palawan prior to this and they were quick! This hotel? Not so much. They told me I had to wait 5 minutes which I did. 5 minutes turned to 10 and so on. I had a flight to catch and needed to drop off my rental car so it would be cutting it close. I have mentioned this to the front desk receptionist MANY times and they keep telling me 1 more minute. Well 1 turned to 2,3,4,5 that I was worrying about my flight (missing this flight means I would miss my connecting which only leaves once a day)
She had no remorse or a sense of urgency so I told them I needed to go. I had enough and I walked out to a point they told the bellman to chase after me! Nope!!!! I am leaving unless you want to pay for my business class seats and an overnight hotel.
That was the only issue. Again, not downgrading my rating as everything else was great

Property was average. Upset about Expedia overcharging on off season for the water villa and it was not what we expected. The water around it was dirty and smelly due to dirty mangroves with stagnant water. We didn’t swim in the area. We tried to get a partial refund but the hotel manager avoided us and would not speak to us. Shame in Expedia for marking this place up. Locals paid for same villa $250 US dollars a night and we paid $650.

Half of everything's under construction. Place doesnt look kept up, food is terrible and has no flavor. I was given a 3-cheese grilled panini with no cheese and was expected to pay until i pointed out there was no cheese. The burger is essentially lumpia meat, yes with carrots and onions. The pizza sauce tastes like paste, they serve wings with that same sauce and no others available. Just order Grab. I booked the water villa for $500 a night, which is very expensive in the Philippines and the view was dirty. Volleyball area is run down, internet was slow and choppy so forget about checking your bank, doing work or attempting to log in to ANY secure network. I couldnt even login to my google TV. I was told it was the provider's fault. For a resort, there was nothing to do so we rented a motorcycle and went island hopping. Only good part was there was a business convention here so i was only able to book one night (place isnt huge).

On a positive note our room was lovely. On the down size the are building a a massive extension to the hotel next door. Work is from 8-8. We only stayed for one night, so it wasn’t an issue, we were also place right next door to the construction site. Work will be continuing for some time, so check before you book, especially if staying for more than a night. Hotel felt a little tiered but still nice. We stayed at a number of hotels during our trip, but this wasn’t up there I’m afraid, I found staff at the smaller non-chain hotels to be far more helpful. Nice but not memorable. If however you are looking for large clean safe hotel with large pool, it could be for you.

The entire resort is absolutely beautiful! Staff was always friendly and nice! The only issue I saw (and I’m nitpicking) was that there were many missing and loose tiles in our pool access (we had a double pool access suite). Other than that everything was great! Would highly recommend and wish to go back to Princesa Garden again!

We had a great time at this resort. It’s definitely 4 star rather than 5 star but we would still recommend it. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The rooms were clean and beautifully presented. The breakfast buffet was ok, not great. There’s only one restaurant option for lunch and dinner and the food was only ok. We chose to venture into town instead for dinner.

Note there is no ‘spa’. I was expecting a wellness spa with massage, sauna etc facilities. There is an option to have a massage in your room. We didn’t do this. There are also some weights available for outdoor weight training. They advertised yoga every morning but it was on only the day we arrived.

We took some of the tours offered (extra charge) and they were excellent- especially the island hopping and underground river tours.

Beautifull resort beautifull swimming pool and kind and friendly staff. Receptionist team excellent room beautiful
The only two remarks are about food :
Food its not for 5 star hotel but quite poor selection many items not available i would rate 2/3 star.
Second point the room should sold for discounted price as all day there is an annoying noice from the construction just inside the resort so u can t really relax in a swimming pool as a lot of noise

At the time of our visit, there was some construction work going on next door, which was a bit of an eyesore but we were off on most days doing tours or restaurants so didn't notice it. The staff were excellent, warm and friendly as expected.

1.The kindness and professionalism of your employees stood out. They made our stay more enjoyable and comfortable.

Areas for Improvement:

1.The food options were quite limited. Expanding the menu or offering more variety would greatly enhance the dining experience.
2.The internet connectivity needs significant improvement. During our stay, we faced challenges with the connection’s stability and speed.

Very nice hotel with lots of facilities. The pool is great. There is no beach here but there is a sandbar that can be reached in a kayak, provided by the hotel. You can paddle yourself or ask a guide to take you. Not a huge amount to see out there but nice to get out on the water and worth a visit I think. There are Starfish and Sea Horses but the latter are only out at low tide (in the afternoon). It's a tuk-tuk ride into town for about PHP150 each way.

Very happy with my stay here as it was a great resort with a nice pool and excellent breakfast.

We had a nice room which was enjoyable as was the ease to downtown and such.

The two drawbacks were that is was under construction and so no gym was available.

Also the beach access is actually limited and there is not just a beach you can walk out to. Those were disappointments, but overall I would come back here again.

Was hit by a typhoon and heavily damaged. Staff was very kind but mostly new. Brought me to the wrong room at first after check in. When finally brought to the right room it was full of mosquitos. Slow food and drink service at the only open restaurant.

The resort is absolutely gorgeous. I wish we had stayed longer than two nights. The restaurant is Italian (my fav so I was super happy with that) and the cocktails are amazing. I also loved the very friendly staff, and tours are easily booked with the front desk. Only aspects for improvement was the availability of massage through the spa options (it was not available when we requested it) and the live music was a bit too loud so we could not really hear each other at the restaurant and it disturbed us to sleep (it was on until past 10pm). Those two small downsides wouldn't prevent me from coming back though.

The pool is beyond extraordinary
The place is very nice and I love coming out of the vehicle and everyone is there to greet you and someone hits a gong upon your arrival
The greeting from everyone is warm and sincere as they place their hand on their heart and give a slight bow and greet you

The bad part was the construction

The hotel is expanding and I can see why
But I had such a perfect room with a working jacuzzi and a bed facing the patio
It was the view that killed everything
I had to change rooms which in my opinion I took a lesser room to what I ordered
But the view of the pool was extremely beautiful
But my jacuzzi was not working
So I took the sacrifice and was happy with my rooms view

I’m sure once the Construcion is done
There will be great views to all the rooms
And I saw they are building water villas and they look so exotic
This place is headed to a 5 star

Kitty met a tricycle driver named Ross that became my daily driver and he recommended some places to go and they were all worth going
The man never led me wrong
And every time I needed him I sent a message and he was there
My wait time was less then one minute
I would definitely come back
And hope there’s no construction at the time

The staff and service here was amazing. They were so nice and the room service was great. The rooms are big and spacious. Currently there is no access to the beach due to weather damage and a lot of construction going on however this did not bother us. Highly recommend this place I will definitely be returning!

I understood before I booked that the resort was damaged during a severe storm then covid hit. I read the reviews available knowing this fact plus its on the resorts site.

The resort was perfect for my short weekend needs. There is a lot of construction going on but I was not effected. My room was clean, quiet and spacious. There is only one restaurant open and one bar open.

Every staff member I met were quite friendly and helpful when needed. I'm sure once all of the construction is completed, the resort will be fantastic.

I was staying at Princesa Garden Resort And Spa between May 9th and May 15th , 2022. During this time the hotel was under major remodeling/construction. The main pool was closed, other small pool was also closed. Many areas of the hotel were closed too. There were construction noises all the time (hammering, drilling, sanding, etc). I felt like I travelled half a world to end up in a construction site. Horrible disappointment. The photos of the hotel on Expedia look very nice and inviting, but reality is completely different. The hotel does not have access to the beach, even though the photos on Expedia show it. Very misleading.

When I got to the hotel from the airport, the Internet in my room did not work, the bathroom toilet did not work. Finally, I was moved to another room. The next door room was under re-construction. There was no way to escape the construction noises. The only positive thing was that the hotel staff was super nice to me and that cushioned a little my great disappointment.

The hotel should be completely closed during this major remodeling and re-opened when the work is finished. I strongly recommend NOT to book this hotel now and make sure that all works are finished before making your reservations. But this may take some time. Hopefully, when the remodeling is finished, the hotel will be ready to accept new guests. Until then, be careful.

I partially blame Expedia for letting publish the misleading photos of the hotel.
