Perfect stay! However, we had one suggestion.
The hotel has a beautiful rooftop restaurant which does not sell alcohol. It would be so nice to enjoy beautiful view on the patio having nice bottle of wine. We had to go somewhere else to enjoy the evening.

Our stay at the Goldenhorn was very enjoyable! It is conveniently located next to all of the main attractions and the restaurants we went to that were nearby. We’re all delicious! The staff at the hotel was so kind and hospitable. When it was time to leave they made sure to arrange our taxi ride to the airport And made sure we had everything we needed. The breakfast was very good and sitting on the terrace with the view of Hagia Sophia and the blue mosquewas priceless!

Overall it was an ok stay (we stayed for 6 nights, first time in Istanbul). Staff was friendly and helpful, location is good and close to historic sites.

That's where it fall short of my expectations:
- rooms look much nicer on the photos, not as impressive in person
- breakfast lacks variety - salad/cheese/tea/coffee were ok, hot dishes were very limited (not much to choose from so most of us were skipping them most of the times)

Nice place, great location, amazing views!

Really nice place in a great location, 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, 10 minutes from the Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar, but on a quiet street so no traffic noise. Good buffet breakfast, quiet hotel, comfy bed, lots of hot water and friendly attentive staff. Views from the breakfast terrace are unbelievable, across the mosque and out across the Bosphorus. What more do you need?

Rooms may be a bit small but with comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast at the terrace was excellent with magnificent views of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and the old town. The waiters there are very helpful and they took me many photos with the views. The area is safe, you can easily walk to the main attractions.

I am not sure if it's just how it is in Istanbul, as most things here were very expensive despite being low quality, but given how expensive this hotel is, it was underwhelming. The breakfast buffet was very mediocre (for example, no toaster for all the untoasted bread), the rooms were ok but had an old dirty carpet, and the toilet had a very noisy fan. Can't compare to other hotels in the city, but compared to the standard you get for example in Asia, this wasn't worth what you paid.

Overall excellent experience, really prime location as everything is pretty much walking distance such as hagia sofia, blue mosque, topkapi palace, basilica cistern. Metro station is not more than 2 mins walk which is a plus if youre looking to travel to places such as grand bazar dilmabache palace etc. you can get a istanbul pass from kiosks (150 lira) and charge it to be able to use it on the metro

Very good location, close to grand bazar, walking distance to metro station , friendly staff ,Mr mosa in reciption was very helpful and polite, roof top breakfast was fantastic and tasty food but breakfast supervisor behaviour was unprofessional (one day I took a small piece of cake to eat on my way he quickly approached to me and with very rude manner said look; there is a camera here you are not allowed to take it outside the restaurant 🤔very unprofessional behaviour)I believe he needs more training, otherwise all other staff were very nice and dutiful,totally we had a great time in golden horn hotel and it was fantastic 🙏

Central location, but walking up and down hills on uneven surface. Taxi didn't want to drive by waivy, narrow, crowded old streets, or wanted twice or triple metter prices.Buildings renovations nearby. Knowing that we stay only for 2 nights and get to hotel in around 10pm- we were assigned to cheaper and smaller room, then we booked via Expedia web. Front desk older guy talked to us with frustration. Lobby and Room decor is nice, but shows wear and tear signs.Breakfast is good. Feel like overpaid for stay and entitled for a refund in price between booked deluxe room and staying in standart room fees.

As a solo traveler I loved this property. It was convenient to all of the major sites and public transportation. Musa at the front desk made sure I had his contact number in case I need assistance while touring the city. The hotel was lovely and an amazing view from the rooftop. They did recommend the evening river boat cruise, which was more like a nightclub on the water, which I did not enjoy. But everything else about my stay and their hospitality was excellent!!!

The hotel is in good place, you can walk to lots of attractions places. There are alot of restaurants around and transport like tram, trains and buses. The reception is helpful if you want to get a taxis with reasonable prices to the airport. Musa the receptionists is very friendly and always helpful.

The corner room was spectacular with the Blue Mosque right outside our window. We loved the total experience. The hotel decor made us feel like we were staying in the Ottoman dynasty. The staff was fantastic, and we will stay there again in our next visit to Istanbul. Sarya and Adnan, two of the many hotel associates were great.

The location is first rate. There are plenty of restaurants close by as well as public transportation to the bazaars and waterways. Lots of sites within walking distance - it couldn't have been better.

The hotel is dated and worn. It is clean without question but I would say it is a travelers hotel. There is a nice selection of breakfast items and juices in a large dining room which was a plus. Staff was always helpful and an extra bonus is the luggage scale - great for the souviners we added to our baggage!

I wouldn't say the AC was broken but felt more like a swap cooler in the rooms that a traditional AC. The weather was gorgeous and the windows open easily which turned out to be perfect for us!

A good place to stay while exploring Istanbul, close to all the historical places , also staff is very helpful and good mannered, the cleaning lady was keeping our room tidy and clean .
If you want to book any tours you can just go to the reception staff and they will sort you out .

The hotel has some advantages; close to the main tourists sights, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern etc, it is also near to the Tram Lime 1 stop. The breakfast area does provide great views and is perfect for photos. The down side for me is the noise for rooms above and to the side; very thin walls, you hear everything when people come in late, open and close door, every conversation, for that reason alone I won;t stay there again..

Have stayed many times usually 2/3 times a year as location is great and always been reasonably happy this time I asked for a birthday cake for my husband it didn’t appear the woman said by email discuss with the front desk they knew nothing about it??
We asked them to get us a taxi to airport after having an experience with a taxi wanting to rip us off and the guy arranged his friend and agreed 250tl we had paid 180tl for airport direct to hotel on the meter, taxi fares went up in 1 Jan. The driver didn’t use the meter and was absolutely crazy amazed we landed at airport in one piece! Then he wanted 300tl after agreeing the price and refusing to use the meter . I know this goes on and no meter no argument which is what I said to the driver and gave him the agreed amount!
Service was distinctly lacking this time maybe we have stayed too many times so will have a change next time.

Postives: 1) Location. This is the ideal location and I have been 3 times to Istanbul. 2) Room was ok, maybe a bit small but sufficient. was on 4th floor so view was ok as well. 3) staff was friendly including cleaning lady who came every day around 12-3pm. 4) 2 water bottles given every day. We used the fridge for our own milk and cola. 5) Weight scale in the lobby which was useful for the luggage. 6) view from the 6th floor (restaraunt/ breakfast.

Negatives: 1) no Iron available. Have to use their laundry service apparently. 2) Breakfast is ok, they have a selection of things like cheeses, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, salads, cereals, small breads, biscuits, milk, tea and juices. So in that regard it is good. but the negative is that most of it is cold. Breakfast starts early(7:30) but we went at 8:00 and by then most of the hot stuff is lukewarm if that. They don't add anything hot along the way.
3) Tv. Some of the other places/hotels have some channels in English or international channels. There was none here (actually only Aljazeera international was in English). Now I understand most people may not watch TV when abroad, But all channels are in Turkish. So this is just a warning

I think the Positives may outweigh the negatives. It sound like its pot luck with the rooms. Some people in the review may have got bad luck

It is in an excellent location and within few mins walk from Haggia Sofia, Sultan Ahmet mosque and Sultan Ahmet metro/tram station. The breakfast was awesome served on the top floor overlooking a stunning view of Istanbul landmarks. The rooms have the Ottoman style interior, clean and the bed was excellent, the staff were very helpful with any quesions I have. I will use the same facility if I ever visit Istanbul in the future.

I have trouble writing reviews. The hotel is a very good 4 star hotel. That is, when compared to other 4 star hotels, the Golden Horn is in the top group of their competition. After reading other reviews, I began thinking I chose unwisely. So, this review is an”anti-review”. There were many unkind reviews of the staff. We never encountered any issues. We were always treated properly, and everyone was very helpful. We ran into one major non hotel issue. The staff was extraordinary helpful. Our room was excellent, and was cleaned daily and well. The room was always tidy. Contrary to many reviews, we saw no mold. Reviews indicated that the hotel is a bit run down. We saw none of this. The hotel is very well maintained. Much criticism has been made about their breakfasts. The breakfast was a far better than average Turkish breakfast buffet. It didn’t contain many items that you would find in a breakfast buffet at a four star buffet in Kansas. However, we weren’t in Kansas anymore. Many salads, excellent yogurts, olives, cheeses, cold cuts, sweets, good coffee, decent juice, cereals, breads—look at the pictures from of the buffet from the hotel. They are accurate. Biggest negative was dinner. We were tired and the weather was rainy so we went to the hotel’s restaurant. Over half of the choices were unavailable. Drinks were canned. As they do not serve alcohol, we expected kinds of fresh juices. Cold drinks were canned. Finally, the views of city are extraordinary!!

The service absolutely terrible. Lobby staff is good but not as good compared to amount of money per night Hotel charges. They say on expedia that hotel rooms are air conditioned unfortunately that was not the case and when I asked the hotel to turn on the air-conditioned they said sorry because it get cold at night we can't turn AC on. After telling them I have had an head operation and can not sweating as it increases the chance of infection even then they did not do anything.
Coming to breakfast which was part of the package I wish I could attach a picture of scrambled egg they gave. It was re-heated in a microwave. When I said I want to cancel my booking I was charged one additional night which was hotel policy.
Furthermore, when I spoke to Expedia about this they confirmed that I can cancel the booking but i will only be refunded for 3nights out of 6 or 7. As we use Expedia to make our bookings we as customers expect to atleast get the facilities being advertised on Expedia from the hotel.

Overall really really bad experience and I will not recommend anyone booking Delux Golden Horn.

The location was great for walking but hard for taxis to get to.
They do not have irons, it was worked out with the hotel staff but it was difficult and caused stress. They charge extra for children over 7yo. Use yelp for where to eat. The hotel was okay. We probably will stay someplace else next time.
They don’t take care of the hotel maintenance. (Leaky faucets and dated bathrooms.)

The hotel was situated approx 5-7 mins walk from blue mosque and Sofia hagia and the local night life in sultan Ahmet area which was very convenient. Hotel room was comfortable and basic. Unfortunately the breakfast wasn't great at all it was virtually not existent. There was pre made cling filmed plates of cheese and olives and watermelon and boiled eggs for customers to have and that's it. No other dishes were prepared during our 5 days stay and the reason given was due to 'covid'. However we didn't have this issue at our other locations we stayed at. Other than that no issues. The location on the balcony was good. The rooms are decorated in a authentic vibe however it could do with a touch up and maintence i.e silicones and grouted needs re doing, or a steam proof mirror in the bathroom due to condensation etc.

Not family friendly. Booked through hotels.com and it was as if we were placed in the worst room in the hotel, felt like the servant quaters - ground floor room right next to reception - it was horrible - it smelt awful in the bathroom - asked to change room and they said no I had paid for a ‘standard room’ and that was the room that they had placed me in - it was right next to the staff sink.

- bed sheets were dirty - they had random hairs on them and dirt stains - informed of problem and no solution - ended up getting sheets and sorting myself.
- air con was only blowing out hot air and no cold air
- ‘view’ was horrible
- the smell from the bathroom was awful
- old and outdated decor with stains on upholstery
- not child friendly
- no iron or ironing board available in the whole hotel (so they claimed)
- no breakfast takeaway option available - even for a hungry child

They only positive thing:
- the location to the tourist sights

Amazing views, fantastic hotel

The views from the terrace restaurant at the top of the hotel are incredible! Friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location in the heart of Sultanahmet yet also set back a bit from all of the bustle. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.

Not really what we expected. The words “Deluxe Hotel” and the “deluxe room” that we reserved got our expectations justifiably high, only to be disappointed on our very first night. The room wasn’t properly cleaned, it was smelly and there was mould in the bathroom. We complained and were moved to a smaller but cleaner room next day and the stay was slightly better after that. The staff were attentive and understanding. Very good and safe location though, walking distance from the main sights and dining options nearby, good breakfast and great views from the terrace.

Not so bad at the end but I suggest that you ignore the ”deluxe” marketing as well as that fourth star.

Excellent Location of hotel near to blue mosque and Metro is few minutes walk. Many eateries nearby.
Hotel rooms are in ottomans style. Rooms are with very thin walls and can hear volume voices and if adjacent room smoked, can smell through adjoining room door gaps. Rooms lacked lighting . Very poor wifi internet . Had to take on expensive home internet.
Breakfast choices limited , lacking fruits , vegetarian or vegan items. With whatever limited due cross use of spoons with meat products , that too couldn’t be consumed. Lacked phone details in room to contact services in hotel .
One bad situation- every time upper floors flushed , the flow of water through the pipes could be heard when sleeping . Hoped for no flooding.
We were given room on 2nd floor room 209.
If visiting be in the upper floors , I suspect they maybe better but can’t be sure.

There are 2 guys on reception
One of them whom i don't know his name, was very mean when we came in the early morning to the hotel for check in and my mother pleased him to let us go to our rooms as soon as possible when the rooms are empty by 12 pm, before 12 if possible. He replied with a mocking tone telling us
\" everyone wants as soon as possible\". Anyway that was disrespectful considering our first day in the early morning.
On the other hand, the other receptionist was very nice, as expected in any hotel.
Breakfast was great. Everything else was great. The hotel's location, very close to sultan ahmet square, is a big advantage

Beautiful apartment, great location Edward is an amazing guy, we had a long flight from Sydney Edward drove me to the super market and helped me shop for my kids. I would recommend this to anyone specially if they are staying with children

Made Airport collection reservation but was not met and Reception failed to let us know. Safe was locked and reported first night but nobody ever unlocked despite saying note was left for the Manager. Staff were very friendly and view from roof Terrace spectacular. Was not an issue but they should notify guests that they do not serve alcohol, as other Hotels do.
