We enjoyed our stay so much we added another day. The hostess was very attentive and knowledgable. Her partner was a great cook. We enjoyed the breakfast and the full kitchen when we prepared our own dinner. The pool side was relaxing and the hammocks wonderful to read in.

The property is like a jail they have a gate that needs to be opened to enter or exit. The parking lot is terrible you cannot park easily and take out the car. Property is old and needs improvements. AC didn’t work one night and fans don’t work. For same price or a few bucks more you can get much better accomodation.

It’s an ok place. We stayed here because it was close to the airport on our arrival night and the night before departure. We mainly chose it because it had a “family suite” for 6 people.

Property is gated, with beautiful landscaping. Friendly staff in reception 24 hrs. I had 2 rooms, both of which had no hot water nor water pressure. One room also didn’t have air conditioning late at night. Pool water was not clear. I can hear the big trucks and motorcycles all day. The stay was not worth the price paid. Rooms were very small.

Very quiet country like Villas, secluded, secured parking. The rooms have bunk beds which increases the bed count with larger rooms that fit up to 7. The hotel is near the animal refuge and some great local restaurants, if you are driving.

I forgot my phone at the car rental counter at San Jose airport and I can’t thank James enough for all his help in calling the necessary authorities to get my phone back. Good alternative to big name hotels close to the airport, good self service breakfast buffet, food covered and clean, bar and a few restaurants and mini supermarket within walking distance, about 15-25 minutes drive from airport depending on traffic

Flowers and tranquility! We got in late from the airport and found everything perfect. There was a security guard on site who let us in and we found our room without any problem. There is a friendly cat and a wonderful delicious breakfast as well as delicious food if you choose to have dinner or lunch at the hotel. I will definitely be returning next time. I’m in Costa Rica.

The place is gorgeous and well kept. The staff are quite helpful and always kind. The breakfasts are free and very delicious with protein options. I was surprised and delighted with the cups of peanut butter. Eggs, rice and banana cake are staples. The coffee is always good and some days exceptional with fresh milk as an option. You will find that the coffee in Costa Rica is never bad like it can be other places. The housekeeper Ana was super kind and helpful, very personable. The room had fresh flowers and/or herbs, a delight. The rooms are simple but aesthetically thoughtful. I took a dip in the pool at night and it was refreshing, though cold. The grounds are exceptionally well designed and beautiful and there are many places to sit and enjoy the gardens, listen to the birds, and there is a resident cat, friendly but keeps to himself. It's a rural area, yet there are several yummy restaurants nearby and a bar.
The only difficulty was getting around. It's about a 15-20 minute Uber ride to the airport. There are public buses but I didn't have time to learn the system. Driving around San José is pretty chaotic. I was glad I didn't rent a car. Next time, I would stay a night, take a bus to another part of the country, rent a car and explore from there, bus back to Alejuela, stay and return home.

Great place. We stayed for 1 night, quiet and clean. Breakfast is traditional eggs rice/beans and fruit. Great fir a quick snack. The water in the shower varies between hit and cold but you need to either take it early in morning or later at night . We did have ants appear but we took care of it. All and all nice cozy place for a family of 5.

My room had no towels, so I had to go ask for them the next morning. When I came back from a day of excursion on day 2, the room was getting invaded by ants, so I went to ask for a can of repellent, but the attendant said none was available. She graciously switched me to an adjacent room, but once again the room had no towels, so I had to ask again for the same request or the second room. The breakfast was mediocre, at best. The eggs were green/grey in color, and when i asked the worker, she sdaid it was be auze they did not use milk. I did not press them on this, but simply put, the eggs were not appetizing visually, or physically.

Wonderful little haven away from the bustling city
This little boutique hotel was absolutely perfect. Not only did it have rooms that could sleep all 6 of us, they are little individual casitas. The grounds were beautiful, and was only accessible behind a gate so we felt very safe parking and walking around the property. Pool was large and clean. Didn’t get to try breakfast as we left at 5:30am but check in was super easy and the front desk gentlemen was very kind and helpful. We did have to get another towel as they only gave us 5 but that was easy enough. Would definitely stay here again, as it’s only 15 min from SJO

This is a quaint property I selected due to its close proximity to the airport. Although the furnishings are dated, they are of good quality and well maintained and the property is very clean. The rooms have AC (not needed due to excellent cross ventilation with open louvered windows), TV, and comfortable beds. I was able to sit outside reading and relaxing, surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The pool is a good size. The small restaurant has well prepared food for breakfast (included in room cost) and dinner (additional). The staff, who are all courteous, directed me to the wildlife rescue center ( about 1/2 mile down the street) which was an excellent afternoon activity where I was able to observe and read about all of the wildlife in Costa Rica. I was comfortable, well fed and safe.

Beautiful grounds and well maintained. Room was quiet. Not that far from the airport but takes a while to get there because of the roads and traffic. They have a shuttle but they charge $26 US for a pickup from the airport. Uber was $10 US.

Loved Hotel La Rosa
We started and ended our trip to Costa Rica at hotel La Rosa. Our rental car was dropped off to us there and picked back up there, and we used their airport shuttle service. It was so easy and convenient, and I appreciated not having to drive at the airport or in San Jose.
The grounds are lovely, the staff are very nice and helpful and the meals are excellent.

I would highly recommend staying here. Getting a shuttle to the airport was so easy. We had to leave the hotel at 2:30am, and the driver arrived at 2:15 and carried out all our bags. There isn't much around the hotel, but there is a restaurant on the premises. It was convienent and was authentic Costa Rican food. The rooms and grounds were well kept, clean, and beautiful. Overall around the property was clean, easy check in/out. Bathroom sink was leaking and shower water kept changing temperature between hot and cold while as i was taking a shower. I booked this property thinking they have free shuttle to the airport but it costs us $30 for a van.

Our flight was delayed so we didn’t get in until close to midnight. I called the hotel and they said no worries to ring at the gate at they would let us in. They had a nice security man who let us in and showed us to our room. Although we didn’t have a much time to enjoy the quaint and lovely hotel it was clean comfortable and beautiful place where we rested well after our 22 hour journey to Costa Rica. Breakfast was plentiful; free buffet style of traditional Costa Rican food, eggs, fruits rice and beans, cereal coffee and juice. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived past midnight at SJO. The hotel arranged a shuttle to meet us at the airport and it was only $30 for six of us. When we arrived at the hotel, a security guard was waiting for us with the key and a note with the WiFI password. I really felt the hotel took care of our late arrival. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. We stayed just one night and was very happy with the hotel’s service.

We unfortunately only had a very short time here, checked in around 10 because of flight delays and left around 630 the next morning for a jungle outing. Because of our limited time, we didn't get a chance to really enjoy the property, but we did take a quick dip in the pool and slept great. It is clean and beautiful and the check in check out was super easy. We missed their breakfast and our only disappointment was they wouldn't do a little brown bag breakfast for us. We were leaving for a rafting trip early and would have LOVED to take something with us to go. Otherwise, GREAT place in San Jose.

The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are adequate and the staff were all very friendly! Also very convenient to the airport. The only issue we had was with another guest who let their dogs run all over the grounds. My daughter had a bad experience with a dog in the past and was scared of it. If pets are allowed I feel that their owners should be able to keep them under control or on a leash. Otherwise we had a nice stay.

Very well maintained, pretty and peaceful property, with beautifully painted roses on outside walls. Rooms were cute and had inviting (and again peaceful) porches on each. Nice staff too. We arrived in time for dinner at their small (but reasonably priced and decent tasting) restaurant.
