The room was huge, very well presented with a view over the garden to the river.

We don’t recommend this property for travelers who like to walk around the neighborhood and see the sites, as well as eat the local food. This is not available at this property. It’s isolated and remote. The traffic on the street in addition to no sidewalks makes it unsafe to, walk around in our opinion.
If you’re coming to Chang Mai and want to enjoy the amazing city and what it has to offer, choose a location near or inside the gates of old town.
Food is readily available on almost every block and Ally, with small and large temples scattered about The old town.
This property is too far away and inconvenient to the old town, where all the action is.
We do want to say that the young reception staff was amazing and tried to accommodate us when there was a booking flaw for our party, but the manager rescinded everything they did and made it harder for them as well as us having to wait 45 minutes to an hour longer for check-in.
The end result is that we walked away from our nonrefundable reservations for two of the three days, for a better experience in Chiang Mai.

Lots of mosquitoes

Bring tons of mosquito repellent! Apply it especially during breakfast when you eat at the restaurant. Hotel should install a mosquito killer lamp or electric mosquito repellent to lessen those mosquitoes. Breakfast has 2 options - American and Thai. The staff will ask you for your choice of breakfast the night prior. Hotel location is about 10 mins from the airport but it is quite remote. There’s no convenience store nearby so you have to buy everything you need before you go back to the hotel. Staff are very helpful and accommodating. Overall, hotel is ok only for short stay if you need to stay in Chiang Mai town proper for few days.

Maraya was a lovely boutique hotel, the most outstanding thing was the service delivered by the staff, it’s the best we have ever known.
The hotel was reasonably well located, short distance from the airport, and a 5 minute ride to the night bazaar/ 10 minutes to old town.
The rooms were beautiful and spacious, our only issue was that our shower was cold 2 days of our stay, but the staff offered us an alternative room, but we chose to just use a shower from another room.
The pool is lovely, and the garden area is very pretty, looking over the ping river.
The restaurant serves a choice of set breakfasts in the morning but the staff were really helpful in preparing any of our requests.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, we were made to feel very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed staying there.

The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to help us when we were having problems with one of the excursions we had booked (not with them). The room was very clean a long with the bathroom and the grounds. The restaurant on the premises served amazing food and at a fair price and the staff were great there also. Loved the location also, close to town but far enough when you want to relax and not have all that noise this was the place to be. They also have free shuttle service that was nice to use.

Lovely hotel on the riverside of Chiang Mai. Nice room, wide, clean and well decorated. Very relax atmosphere and great view of the pagoda. Breakfast served in set menu with full set and good quality. They even serve Pad Thai for breakfast. Strong Wifi signal. Location a bit out of town but not too far. Only 10 minutes from city center by Grab car. Staff services were excellent. Strongly recommended.

Highlight of our stay is the staff are very friendly & helpful. We are a little bit disappointing & this is the first time in 30 years of traveling that we were charged for bucket of ice, though it is not a bit deal but it should be part of the service. Also, the breakfast is a set menu not buffet breakfast as advertised. Hope the management would review these. My opinion is to help improving your client service so don’t take it to heart

This charming boutique resort is located on the riverside about 4 km from city center. If you prefer a busy and noisy hotel in the middle of everything this may not be good option for you. But if you prefer beautiful resort with privacy, peaceful environment and great atmosphere but not too far from main attractions this would be the best option. Clean, quiet, good breakfast, great services and stunning view. Also very reasonable price. Strongly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The staff were kind and helpful. The food was good. The pool was great. We loved the room. The only thing I would mention is that we stayed here on our honeymoon and on check-in were told our room was upgraded for our honeymoon, but only if we left a review right at that moment in front of them and that they would then need to take a picture to send to their manager of the review. The thing is that we would have left a fabulous review had it not been for that insistence on leaving a review for an upgraded room. But the request to leave one, in front of them, in order to receive the room left a bad taste in our mouths. It makes you wonder if you can trust the other reviews. Again, I would have left a great review had it not been for that because we really did enjoy our stay.

One point of feedback: make sure everything is clean. Our bedsheets didn’t seem 100% clean (ie had stuff on top of it, wasn’t totally white) - please provide new sheets in the future and clean the room fully!

The staff is the only good thing about this place. They are so nice and try their hardest to provide good service with that they have. It’s not their fault that this “4 star” resort is cheap with everything else.

The WiFi is TRASH. You can barely load Instagram and it constantly disconnects. Very cheap WiFi with slow speeds. Hot water? Never heard of it. We stayed 5 nights and every night we needed to call to try and get the hot water fixed. It was so bad. Absolutely terrible.
Wanna watch TV? Nope. This place was too cheap to have any kind of network besides the standard wired free cable that has about 8 different channels and all in Thai. A “4 star” resort should have more. All the other hotels I’ve stayed at have English channels, better WiFi, and hot water. That’s basic 3 star hotel quality.

Charming boutique resort

This charming boutique resort is located on the riverside not far from the city. At first we had little concerns of the location since it was not in the city center. But once we get to the hotel all concerns were disappeared. The reception area was at the pavilion overlooking the pool, river and an ancient pagoda. The hotel was small but very charming and riverside atmosphere was so relaxing. The room was nicely decorated and staff services were excellent. The hotel provided free shuttle services to city center three times daily but calling Grab was just 3-4 dollars. Strongly recommended.

Overall - a nice quiet hotel not too close to the city.
Free shuttle into the city every morning is a convenient service.

There was some miscommunication which resulted in a 1000bht cost for breakfast for 2 when we arrived before check in which was invoiced to us upon departure. This wasn’t made clear to us and there was no menu provided with pricing.

The inclusive breakfast was not ideal for vegan or vegetarians with very limited choice, however Happy agreement located a few doors away were awesome.

It’s perfect for those just want to have a leisure time. There are also couple nice restaurants close by. The place is about 20mins to the old city. I used Grab and Tu Tu to get around. A very comfortable hotel with excellent staff, courteous, polite, efficient and ever helpful! The hand shower in the bathroom needs to be extended as it cannot be used to wash one's hair unless on sits in the bathtub.
A shuttle bus is provided three times a day to the city. 10min drive away.. the hotel is situated on the banks of the river Ping in a serene atmosphere.

The room was beautiful but not functional. There was no hot water in the sink and I had to shave in cold water. There is a sign above the sink to wait 4-5 minutes for the hot water to come, but it never did. it is difficult to climb inside the bathtub and get out of it. No rails to hang to and I felt I am going to fall and needed my wife help to avoid imminent injury. The shower itself, with double head was fantastic. There is no wall or door out of the shower room but only net to have ventilation. However, small bugs enter the shower, and therefore the room, through these small spaces in the net and we kept the door shower closed all the time. The breakfast had 4 options including American breakfast, which sounds great. However, the portions in the breakfast were small, and we left hungry. The worst part is the location. Hotel management is aware of this problem and offer a shuttle to the city at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, all of which are inconvenient hours when u want to go to see the city. We ended up using this so-called shuttle service only once and took taxis all the time. There was no flexibility with the shuttle time or the breakfast and generally speaking I did not feel comfortable in this beautiful hotel where management is just considering how to save themselves the fraction of the penny. With all this said, no wonder the hotel was literally empty and out of the 18 rooms only 3 were occupied. Not a good experience and will not recommend this hotel.

Beautiful and peaceful off the beaten track hotel.

This hotel was a good balance of Thai elegance mixed with modern amenities. The hotel itself is beautiful and its staff very nice and willing to help. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful....you'd swear you were the only guests in the hotel. If you are adverse to large chain hotels, this may be the right fit for you.

Pros
- Quiet property with beautiful decor and a charming temple (super picturesque) view.
- Very nice and helpful staff.
- Large clean room with balcony (we had the entire top floor - I believe it was a suite).
- Great breakfast and great waitstaff.
- Very close to the airport.

Cons
- This hotel was marked near to the night markets but it certainly is not closeby. It's about a 15 min ride (no traffic) to get to the market.
- No elevator. This is a huge point of contention for me since our luggage was heavy. Although the bags were brought up to the room, we checked out very early in the morning and had to make special arrangements to have our luggage brought downstairs to the lobby.
- No nearby restaurants or shops.
- Breakfast dining area and lobby were not air-conditioned.
- Only one room key provided

We didn't use any of the amenities, i.e., pool or spa so unable to comment on those features.

This hotel is a little bit away from the centre of Chiang Mai, but it is only a 10min ride between, plus the hotel offers shuttle buses. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was freshly made when you arrived at the river-side restaurant.

Hotel is very nice and friendly service but a little far away from city. You need to take a taxi or Uber when you need to go out. You can’t walk around the outside the hotel because too busy & nerrow stress. The hotel is not good for the elderly people because no elevator.

Beautiful hotel, lovely staff...the BEST bed and pillows we had in Thailand. It is on the Ping River, with great shuttle service twice a day to the Old City Gate, and once to the Night Market (you have to find your own way home). It is peaceful and quiet and the breakfast area is just lovely. The food was ok for breakfast...generous, but not spectacular. It was a choice of three fixed menus. Would recommend this place as long as you don't mind taxis and uber for getting there and back if you miss the shuttle. The staff helped us with booking reservations too. We'd go back there again.

under staffed at any time. 2 persons at the reception, so you arrive you have to go and find the bell boy, if notyou have to take care of your luggage. Very high floor without lift, not even a service lift. Very poor english. Only bathtub, no standing shower. The beautiful location along the river is the only positive point.

I found the hotel itself to be outstanding. Absolutely beautiful and well-kept. Service couldn’t have been better by all the staff there. My only downside was that it was a bit far from old city where all the restaurants/markets were. In itself this wouldn’t have been bad but always seemed to be traffic so would take quite a bit to go to and from. Other than that, everything was perfect.

Idyllic view on the river of Chedi Liam. The street the hotel is on is busy, but very accessible by Uber to all points in Chiangmai. The hotel has a couple of bicycles for use and it is great to cycle away from the city and enjoy the fruit orchards and farmlands.
While the breakfast is a bit dull, its nice to start your day out with a predictable meal. There is a great vegetarian restaurant and Northern Thai restaurant within walking distance.
Great small pool to relax in after a day of traipsing around.

Impeccable service, immaculate and wonderful hotel, we enjoyed every moment of our stay. Our room was fabulous and very comfortable, the bedding and pillows were top Mich and very comfortable. I rate this place a 5 star hotel. Location was easy to get to all areas and attract awithout being in the heart of everything, shuttle was provided free or taxi were easy and cheap to obtain. Great stay, can't wait to return.

New but not worth staying and totally not a 4 star

If you can accept the below you can choose this so call four star hotel
1. Insect in the bath tub
2. Unstable water pressure
3. Unstable water heater
4. Towel with stain
5. Frontdesk asked guest to wait for one hour then only shower due to repair work without prior inform
6. Suprise trip spoiler - pipe burst in The middle of the night and flood the whole room
7. Security Gaurd is the only person who is handling the whole hotel during night time
8. Serious security problem - the hotel is wide open to outsider to access to all the rooms, the entrance is gaurded by one security gaurd only and there is no door to lock

During the night of pipe burst, no management level staff has attended to the problem other than the Gaurd. The Gaurd apologised and changed the room for me. The next day, all the staff just pretend nothing has happen and no one apologise to me. The hotel manager was never there at all. How can this be a four star hotel. If there is anyway I can ask for a refund for this please let me know. This is worst than a buotique hotel.

Breakfast is simply atrocious, tendency to not being edible i.e. The rotten mouldy cheese used for our omelettes one morning... Disgusting! Location is far from town with nothing around , visitors need to be aware of this.

Nice hotel. A little far from the city center.

The hotel is fairly new and the hotel staff are very friendly and efficient. I stayed in the pool view rooms which were very large and spacious. The king size bed was great and very comfortable. The only reason I didn't give this hotel a 5 star rating was because it didn't have an elevator, the pool view rooms didn't come with a shower which wasn't made clear on the website. Overall my stay was very nice. The breakfast was very tasty as well.

Maraya Hotel -- Overall good hotel, with some cave

This is a relatively brand new hotel. The facilities are clean and the pictures are accurate. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had two relatively minor issues:

1. When we checked in, we were given a better room than we were booked, though we did not know this. Within 15 minutes of checking into our room, the staff let us know they had made a mistake and apologized, and graciously asked us to move to another room. We did not have a problem with this. However, the 2nd room did not have a shower case. We requested one, but the manager then stated that this was not included in our booking. Fortunately, we had our booking confirmation that stated otherwise. So we were moved to a third room.

2. We took taxi and tuk-tuks may times from the Chiang Mai night market area to the hotel. Few of the drivers knew where this hotel was, given that it was relatively new. Many to consult google maps, and one even had to call the hotel for directions. Some would declare the the ride to the hotel was \"very far\" from the night Market to the hotel, when in fact it was perhaps a couple km.

3. The hotel is located next to the mae ping river. At least in this area, the river was not pretty.

Overall, we had a very pleasant experience with helpful staff. There was a complimentary breakfast that was quite good, but next time we would choose to stay closer to the night market.

Will stay again

A good choice of hotel of have visited Chiang Mai before or don't want to be in the city. We will most certainly stay here again if it is not sold out as we will be back in Chiang Mai. Modern room design in very pleasing restful earth colours. Really does look like the picture. River view room is spacious, comfortable and peaceful. Bedding is premium and comfortably soft. The team that are on site are first class, warm friendly and helpful.
Only consideration is that remember is a boutique hotel, no lift. But the exercise was good for me. Do add this hotel to your short list
