My husband and I came here for our honeymoon as well as his birthday. The staff really went out of there way to make us feel extra special; roses around the room and a cake on my husbands birthday. Really enjoyed the buffet breakfast as well as the scenery being right next to the river. Great boutique hotel experience. 👌

The location on the river was nice. Price was very reasonable. Quiet - “Zen” atmosphere.
Breakfast was good. Some staff were gracious, welcoming and helpful (especially the front door security guard. He was an angel).
Rooms are old and need major work. The dinner we had was awful and atmosphere uncomfortable (hot, mosquitoes, etc.) - indoors! One morning we came down to breakfast and several tables had bugs crawling all over them. Our spa appointments were messed up - granted we asked to change times but the whole thing was a disaster. Staff apologized and offered a “fix” that in no way worked with our needs or schedule. TV and beds were a joke. Communication with the staff was not good. The charge for a shuttle to the airport changed depending on who was manning the front desk. We did get a free ride to the Sunday market but we just got dropped off with no directions or info regarding where we were or which way to go. We would not recommend this property.

I have bad experience with this booking because the room description clearly gives detail the bathroom and bathtub. Unfortunately, I got room without bathtub. I asked staff, she explained the rooms double bed with bathtub are booked. Very disappointed and unhappy. She can fix this by dirty solutions connect the twin beds for bathtub room.

I hate when I paid for what I did not expect, ruin my trip...
The hotel clarified that the Chinese group earlier booked specific the rooms with bathtub. Well, I would appreciate you better improve option select within room (1) twin beds (2) double also the detail specific with that room. No more excuse and confusion.

The hotel was ideal for a short stay. It is not within walking distance of much, but the staff are helpful with hailing tuk tuks and the red taxis are always near. The room was quite comfortable; be aware that the bed is rather hard, but i didn't having any trouble resting.
The staff are warm and attentive.

A riverside sanctuary retreat from the city

Our stay here was about relaxing somewhere quiet, comfortable and luxurious and so the hotel was perfect for us. There werent many guests at the time so we felt a bit like we had the place to ourselves. If you are looking for a similar type of break or a sanctuary from exploring the bustling city then this could be the place but if you want to be right in the action in the centre of town this could be a bit isolated.

Nice hotel, very comfortable, and friendly staff. The rooms were pretty and well kept. The breakfast wasn't the best, but good enough. Close to the city, you can take a quick uber there and an uber or tuktuk home. It was nice leaving the city at the end of the day to come back to a quiet hotel. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle to town at night. Would stay again and recommend.

Stayed in the Deluxe room. It's a very nice small hotel nestled in a quiet part of the river. The view is peaceful and the hotel is clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great, they had all the essentials and Thai cuisine. Didn't have a chance to try lunch or dinner but the menu looked good. Van service to the market street was at 7 PM but was only one way so you have to grab a taxi or tuk tuk to come back. Bikes were free to rent if you wanted to visit somewhere nearby. Shower was hot, bathtub was a little small. Nothing really interesting on TV but I don't think anyone goes to Chiang Mai to just watch TV. The restaurant is located at the back of the hotel and the only way to access it is to walk through the middle which has no covering so grab an umbrella at the lobby doorway in case it rains. The pool is tucked in the corner and is somewhat private. Awesome friendly service, great price, definitely would stay here again.

Beautiful but terrible service and location!

Everything is beautiful here from a distance. But after staying there, I see how up close there can be a lot of issues. Our room's hot water wasn't working and it took 3 days for them to believe we were just idiots who couldn't wait 5 mins for it to get hot. It wasn't that the water didn't work that bothered us so much, but that they wouldn't listen to us every day when we complained. I felt like I had to get really angry in order for anyone to take us seriously and that really sucked. Eventually we changed rooms in time for one last actually hot shower but it soured the experience for us. Once we did switch rooms, I was told in person they would switch us to a suite with a river view for the inconvenience but when I came back with my husband we had been switched into another regular room instead and then the person I had spoken to was gone and they didn't offer an explanation of what had happened. At this point we were too tired to continue to try to argue for something we didn't care much about after several days of asking for hot water so we gave up.

We were in our honeymoon and it was very frustrating to be here. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, especially a couple. The spa prices are way too expensive and even with a discount they are not worth it. The food for breakfast is fine but nothing special. And be wary of rain here because there is no way to get from the rooms to the restaurant without getting wet.

I stayed at this hotel years 6 ago and loved it! They have added a new dining room and tables right in front of the river. My only complaint was that we found a very large cockroach in our shower, but this was probably not due to a lack of cleanliness, but rather the tropical climate and it being the rainy season. Staff was great as usual! Excellent massages in the spa as well!

A sophisticated boutique hotel

A very nice boutique hotel. Love their room design and their backyard. You will be surprised by their backyard because you can sit beside the river, reading books or chating. Their pool are small but good for two people to swim, we like that too. Free bike but we didn't use it because might be dangerous if you cycle on the road. Fair breakfast, suggest they should add some hot dishes, such as soup or congee.

Near perfect boutique hotel

Arriving deep into the evening, we went down to the restaurant and they were fully open and happy to see us. However, as the main dining room was full with a tour group they opened a separate dining room for us and the service, cocktails, and food was really good. The staff at this hotel are really wonderful, and so helpful and yet not uncomfortably intrusive. The location is improbably serene, with the grass and garden area next to the river extremely quiet and yet the hotel is so well located and the table and chairs by the river proved ideal for an informal business meeting.

Hotel is in great condition, very helpful staff with luggage unloading (they did not ask for tips) and parking guidance. Lobby and room are good with feel of cleaniness, the style and decoration are typical northern thai lanna one. The best thing is you can enjoy all you can eat made to order riverside breakfast before you start the day.

Rate a bit dearer than hotela inside old city. With free bike offering, you can ride to riverside for dinning or sunday walking street.

This hotel has a good location from the night bazaar (15 min walk) and to the old city (15 min by Song Theaw). The hotel itself is clean and very presentable with a main decor of dark wood. The breakfast was delicious with enough options of some of the local's and westerner's delicacies. The staffs were very friendly and helpful, and our overall experience was pleasant. The only unpleasant thing that we had to experience during our stay was when the F/O Manager forgot to book our requested 1 extra night. She apologized and told us that there was only 1 more room left for that night (a suite) and it'd cost us three times of the nightly price that we'd been paying for our deluxe room. We had been staying there for a total of 10 nights; and instead of giving us the free upgrade (like most of the hotel managers would do when they made the mistake), she offered us a room that was closed, intended for some fixings, at the same nightly rate we'd been paying. I thought the offer was outrageous. In the end, we had to make a last minute booking with The Empress Hotel at much lower price and better location than the Aruntara. I would have given this hotel 5/5. But due to the unpleasant service by the f/o manager, I'm giving Aruntara 4/5.

It is a quiet place which is a little bit far away from old city, but still with reasonable distance, the only problem is that you will have some problem finding the hotel on google map( if you go back hotel by yourself). The juice was out of a very old soda machine and had foam in it... tasted almost as good as the soap in the shower, not very good. The beds are horrible just a little harder then the floor of the room and the towels needed to be replaced a few years ago.

We had a pleasant stay at Aruntara, nice ambience at the hotel, the room was comfortable. Really polite and attentive staffs. We had no problems getting around although the hotel is of no walking distance to the old city or the main attractions in CM city (you will be able to enjoy a quiet night after immersing yourself in the buzz of the city during the day). The guard would help you get a tuk tuk or simply get the hotel staffs to call for a cab. Overall experience was good. Recommended to travelers who would prefer to enjoy a quiet stay in CM.

We have been here for our last 2 trips. Great rooms on ground floor with a small patio (without bath tub). 2nd floor & above comes with bath tub and separate area for showering & bath tub. Very peaceful hotel with lovely greenery & well maintained gardens. It's has a British colonial architecture with a touch of Thai. Staff are superb! They have a DVD library to chose from. Swimming pool is small and not suitable for young children as its about 1.5m deep. Overall, a delightful stay.

Great stay at Aruntara

Beautiful hotel, excellent service! Loved it! Away from the hustle and bustle of the old city but close enough to still be convenient

School dormitory at it's best

All it's lay out are for \"your eyes only\" non-functional design.
*you have to carry luggage across a threshold to your rooms, and again open latched double room doors to enter with luggages; the lock is not a standard hotel lock you have to figure your way out, image when you were in emergency situation.
* you have to cross the aisle to get towel, the bath room separated in two and is divided by a Venician door with beds.
* the swimming pool have no space to walk around, are occupied by plants. Not enough outdoor furniture to facilitate outdoor events.

Very nice hotel

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. My only suggestions (as with most southeast Asian hotels) is a small matter of cleanliness - (crumbs left on restaurant tables, grout in shower could be cleaner). Bu these are minor. It's a gorgeous hotel, and a short tuk tuk ride from the city centre (night markets, shopping, etc.)

This hotel is really great. Clean, comfortable, and quiet. The beds are softer than most in Thailand and the bathtub was really nice. Service was personal and exceptional. Breakfast was good and so was the coffee. The only negative is the small cold pool, but they do have a nice garden area for sunbathing.

Beautiful hotel with relaxing atmosphere

Aruntara Boutique Hotel is a beautiful hotel close to all must-see sights e.g. temples, night bazaar, shopping & food. The hotel is located on the riverside with a cute little green terrace to chill out. It is very clean & staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel accommodates a swimming pool, a little garden, a tea room and the Tara restaurant, which offers great food. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel since its wonderful relaxing atmosphere will let you forget about your daily routine life.

Quiet and Comfortable

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was both friendly and helpful. The location is about a 15 minute walk from the central downtown area. The WiFI Internet worked well in the room.

Be ok for a family

Did not meet my expectations, room was very dark. Staff was very friendly and the back area was very nice. I would not stay here again

Excellent Stay

if you dont scare of Wall lizard, all other things are great, so comfortable room and great hotel services, all staff are nice and helpful , the hote restaurant is not expensive , we had a delicious dinner there
