Rude staff gave me the wrong room and didn't care

My partner and I went on a romantic vacation getaway in Thailand and we spent 3 of the days in Chiang Mai. We booked this hotel and specifically booked for a room with one bed. When we checked in, we were given a room with 2 single beds. We went back downstairs to the front desk to ask for the correct room that we had booked, but the staff was very rude and refused to change our room, and told us to go to sleep and ask again in the morning. So we did that, and again in the morning they refused to give us the correct room that we had booked and paid for. I had to waste 2 hours of vacation time to contact hotels.com to cancel this booking. Fortunately, the customer service agent was very nice and put us in a new hotel with a king bed for the rest of the days we spent in Chiang Mai.

It was a nice clean hotel. The beds were quite hard, and I think they are renovating the pool so that was closed. It is an easy location to get to and from the airport and to the old city.

The loby of the hotel is nice but when you go up by the elevator to the room it looks so ugly and neglected. the room is not maintained, everything is old and not working. The worst thing is that there is bedbugs in the room. I definitley not recomend this place and I will never book this hotel again!!!

Not very clean rooms.

This hotel had a dirty room with mold on walls in the bathroom. The room was so strong with deodorizer that it makes you sick. We had to leave and they would not refund our money through Expedia.

In nwwd of a proper Management

Weird. This Hotel needs a proper Management. Rooms are ok for the price paid. But service was just weird. First day they forgot (?) to clean my room. Next morning they bumped my door before 8 am. One day they took away 2nd towel.
Room was clean and most things were working. Bathoom in good condition. I had a Balcony which was dirty and never taken care of.

Don't waste your time or money this hotel is completely run down and the rooms dirty and the bathrooms outdated which kept flooding.This hotel does not deserve the title 'palace' it's a dump look else where.

Couldn't sleep !

The hotel is very old.
Looking back at the reviews, the good one are from 2004....
The beds are not comfortable.
The location is good (close to city center) but the windows are really thin so we can hear all the noise. On one of the nights we stayed there, there was music outside until 1am, and we could hear everything as if we were at the concert.
The hotel wasn't helpful at all in helping us finding nice places to see.....
Unless you really need to stay around this area, I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Good value

Pool freezing, fridge stopped working, 14th floor restaurant not open, shower water pressure and temp control not optimal (or predictable), but otherwise everything was wonderful. Please note that the fridge was promptly fixed as soon as we notified hotel management.

Great price for a hotel of its size.

I was very impressed. The hotel was older, but everything was still clean. If your expected new you will be disappointed. If you want clean but out dated a bit then this is for you. For the price I am not sure you can do better.

The hotel is not ideally situated but is comfortable and clean. Lacks atmosphere in the evening. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay as you could get to the old town by tuk tuk in5/6 minutes.

Not an enjoyable stay

We did not enjoy our stay in Lanna Palace. It was dirty and we could not wait to leave. The lobby had a weird smell, the rooms had stains on the carpets, floors, and sheets, and on our first night I found multiple hairs in the bed sheets. The bathrooms were gross - cracks, and black scum or mold. I was in 3 rooms during my stay there and all had the same problem. The rooms were also dark. During the daytime, with the curtains open, the rooms looked okay but at night it was awful. The staff at the front desk also weren't particularly friendly. The exception was the woman who brought up the extra bed to our room to make it a triple. She was very kind, and asked lots of questions to make sure all of our needs were met. Lanna Palace was also in a great location - close to the old city. I would venture to say that there are probably better hotels for the same price that are also in a good location, so I would probably not stay here again.

Room is good and big but the carpet is dirty. Wash room didn't have a hand hold shower. There are only one staff at the reception when check in at about 8:30pm. It does not have Coffee/tea maker in the room.

Odd but Ok?

They say you pay for what you get. This hotel tried its best to be like a upper star hotel by opening doors, car or shuttle service and even looking large as a tall hotel on the outside. But in the end it's interior and rooms are very lack luster. Also the bunnies next door is very odd but funny view at night. For those budget cautious and really do not care where they sleep but want a place to sleep I see that this is ok for some but not ok for many others. Think about it as a great way to save money and enjoy your time out. Lack amenities such as blow dryers, and iron so just be ready to not need those items.

first, when i arrived the hotel with about six baggages which most belong to my friends, the staff at the gate didn't help me to carried the baggage ,even didn't open the gate of the hotel for me.
second,i booked 2 rooms ,the staff in the reception said i just booked 1 room. i show her my itineraries and confirm letter of expedia,but her said the expedia booked through agoda and agoda just booked 1 room. i wait about 1 hour and she didn't do anything to help me and maybe abuse in thai when i ask her for hurry!

lanna palace is good for karaok entainment

Lanna palace is clean，breakfast is simple but enough for a fresh day. staff is helpful. I am more like the bar with karaok facility and there is always 3～4 person singing there. I feel all they are well qualified karaok lover. There are lots of choice and english，thai，chinese. The facility is good and the person also play piano together with karaok music. Karaok is free.

Cheap, but now I know why..

I'm not in the habit of giving a cheap place a poor review because as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

On this case I'll make an exception.

This hotel is cheap, but is still probably overpriced.

The rooms are dated and poorly equipped and the entire hotel has a dirty/musty smell about it. They offer free wifi in the rooms however we were unable to get a reliable wifi signal from our room on any of our wireless devices.

My partner ordered room service one afternoon and it was absolutely disgusting. The spring rolls were ice cold and the \"Thai stir-fried noodles\" resembled a plate of grey slop. None of the vegetables or other parts of the dish were even recognisable and it looked as though it had been microwaved and refrigerated multiple times.

The staff also seem to be opposed to cleaning. Our room included breakfast daily but each morning we struggled to find a place to sit and eat. The restaurant is quite large but once breakfast begins serving the staff do not clear tables after guests have left until breakfast stops serving at 10am. By 9am the entire restaurant is a mess of dirty tables, plates and half eaten food and most mornings we had to clear a table ourselves just so that we could sit down.

Cheap hotel or not, these sorts of things are unacceptable in my eyes and I definitely won't be returning to this hotel.

The standard of service was excellent

The standard of service was excellent both at the front desk and the Coffee Shop. We did not use the restaurant. The rooms were serviced with clean sheets and towels every day, housekeeping did a great job. A kettle and toaster in the room would be appreciated, although the breakfast in the Coffee Shop which was excellent compensated to some degree.

Wij hebben goed geslapen. De bedden waren schoon en matrassen waren goed.

Teleurstellend voor een 4 sterrenhotel vonden wij de service bij de receptie. Wifi was 24 uur out of service. Ook was de badkamer douchekop beschimmeld, moesten wij douchen in een bad (oud en vies) en sliepen wij in 2- 1 persoonsbedden ipv een kingsizebed. Tevens hadden wij 1 flesje water gepak (plastic) die was dus niet gratis maar de glazen flesjes water blijkbaar wel. Helaas moesten wij dus nog wel voor dat ene flesje water betalen. Dit terwijl wij klachten hadden over de wifi, wij niet gezeurd hebben over de vieze badkamer en de bedden. Erg jammer. Wij zullen hier niet meer terugkomen. Service van de bagage medewerker was wel top. Hij had voor een taxi geregeld (uber). Hierdoor scheelde het ons mbt taxikosten naar het vliegveld. Eindconclusie: oud hotel, slechte service bij de desk en een vieze badkamer. Je kan beter voor deze prijs naar het. Duangtawan gaan, dichter bij de avondmarkt, groot, mooi zwembad en goede service.

壁が薄すぎてとなりの部屋の人の声で何度も目が覚める。また、wifi が使えなくてフロントにいいにいくと英語を話せない人に接客され何も話が進まなかった。そのあと英語が話せる人が出てきたがその人曰く、下層階はwifi が遅くて多分たがらないと言われた。部屋も下水くさかったりシャワーが出にくかったりし本当に最悪だった。

ห้องอาหารให้บริการดีเฉพาะทัวร์ คนที่ไปพักเดี่ยว ครอบครัว หรือคนไทย กินของเหลือจากกรุ๊ปทัวร์ มีเท่าไรกินเท่านั้น แทนที่จะรีบๆขึ้นอาหารเพราะรู้ว่ามีแขกเต็มทุกวัน ต้องให้แขกเดินไปบอกทีละอย่าง ท่นททำงานแบบนี้ทุกวันหรือ? เสียดายเงินค่าจ้างจริงๆ คนบริการมีน้อยแค่2 คน ทั้งดูแลยกอาหาร เก็บโต๊ะ กวาดพื้น ถ้าเป็นแบบนี้ขอโทษนะ ไม่มีแขกมาพักแน่นอน ขอให้แก้ไขด้วย
